Despite the fact that the importance of islands and oceans is increasingly being emphasized as they are recognized as alternative spaces for the future, some islands that have not been designated as cultural assets have lost their natural and cultural landscapes to development projects and other plans for turning islands into tourist resources, and are still in the process of being destroyed. Unlike old perceptions of islands, islands, in the minds of people living in the modern age, have become places for taking a quiet rest or enjoying and appreciating the undamaged beauty of nature itself. Keeping up with the trend of people increasingly visiting the islands these days, it is high time to prepare plans for the promotion, preservation management, and usages of islands based on researches of islands with excellent natural landscapes and through the designation of these islands as cultural properties. As the first step of studying island landscape resources as resources of cultural assets, the current study includes literatu rereviews and field investigations of Gwanmaedo and Yeongsando, two islands that have been selected as prestigious villages and are part of the Dadohaehaesang National Park. Based on these preliminary investigations, landscape resources showing distinctive natural landscapes and cultural sceneries were selected and analyzed in detail, thus presented for their value as resources of Scenic site and future research.

본 연구의 목적은 자유학기제 영어수업에 대한 중학생들의 인식과 선호 사항을 파악하는데 있다. 이를 위하여 2017년 2학기에 중학교 1학년 116명을 대상으로 설문 조사를 실시하였다. 설문의 객관식 문항에 대해서는 빈도와 백분율을, 서술형 문항 에 대해서는 핵심 단어를 뽑아서 결과를 산출하였다. 연구결과 자유학기 영어수업에 대한 학생들의 생각은 대체로 긍정적이었다. 학생들은 자유학기제 영어수업이 더 재미있으며 자신들의 꿈과 끼를 키우는데 도움이 된다고 느끼고 있었다. 그런데 학생 들은 단순히 영어를 학습하는 방식보다는 영어를 매개로 한 창의성이 발로되며 신체를 사용하는 활동을 선호하고, 친구들과 상호작용할 수 있고 협력할 수 있는 수업방식을 선호하였다. 따라서 성공적인 자유학기 영어수업이 되기 위하여 기존의 영어 독후감 같은 수업보다는 영어연극과 뮤지컬 같은 창의․융합형 수업에 더 중점을 둘 필요가 있다. 결론에서 이를 실행에 옮기기 위한 방법이 제안되었다 This study investigates middle school students’ perception of and preferences for their English classes for Free Learning Semester. A survey was conducted on a total of 116 middle school students in the 2nd semester in 2017. The collected data was analyzed in frequency and percentage for multiple choice questions and in keyword for open-ended questions. The results showed that the students are positive about their English classes for Free Learning Semester. They think the classes are more fun than regular English classes and are useful in fostering their dreams and specialties. However, they prefer English-medium activities where they can utilize their creativity and their body and can interact and cooperate more with their classmates. Therefore, in oder for English classes for Free Learning Semester to be successful, the classes need to be centered on creative and convergent activities such as drama and musical rather than traditional ones like writing book diaries. The ways to transform class activities are discussed based on the research results.
초등교사의 낙관성과 정서조절양식 및 심리적 안녕감의 관계

This study was designed to examine the relations among optimism, emotional regulation style, and psychological well-being. The data in this study were collected from 340 primary school teachers in Busan with Optimism, motional regulation style and Psychological well-being scale each. T-test, one-way ANOVA, simple and multiple regression analysis were applied to data processing. The results of this research were summarized as follows: First, Optimism, emotional regulation style, and psychological well-being had not statistically significant differences in demographic factors(gender, age, working experience) of primary school teachers. Second, Optimism and psychological well-being, emotional regulation style and optimism showed a positive correlation. Active style had statistically significant influence. Third, Optimism had positive effect on psychological well-being. The more optimism and active and avoidance style (the subtype of emotional regulation style) were combined strongly, the better psychological well-being could be predicted. On the basis of the study results above, teachers` psychological well-being and the quality of teachers would be improved if teachers` optimism was advanced, the plan for problem-solving was set, the active emotional regulation style was used and the use of avoidance style was limited. As a result, when teachers` influence on students was considered, their optimism formed by interpretation style, linguistic habits and behaviors, active emotional regulation style for relieving negative emotion and psychological well-being are essential factors for health school life and their life to both teachers and students. Based on the findings, limitations of the current study and the suggestions for further research were offered.
온열 발반사 요법이 비만여성의 우울지수 및 혈청 성분에 미치는 영향

This study investigated obese women's general environment, mental depression changes by thermo foot-reflexology (50 minutes/one time and three times/week during 6 weeks) through a questionnaire survey of 33 obese women possessing over 23 body mass index (BMI) in Iksan, they divided into two groups and checked their triglyceride (TG), immunoglobulin G (IgG) and stress changes of blood by thermo foot-reflexology (TFR). As the results, depression changes of experimental group presented meaningful decline of about 7 value after TFR. Cortisol concentration of blood and stress index showed a decline in experimental group. TG and IgG concentration of experimental group showed meaning decrease by TFR. Therefore, we suggest that TFR did decline obese women's mental depression, stress and TG concentration without fall of immune system.

I was invited to speak at the Korean Gestalt Therapy Conference on the subject of the history of Gestalt Therapy in 2013. In this paper I discuss what is the life history of Fritz Perls and his Gestalt philosophy of life written in his autobiography. Perls thought the life goes on like unending stream of incomplete gestalten. It is a process that an organism having lost it's center, the point of creative indifference discovers this imbalance and discovers the means of regaining it. Perls was interested in the self-actualization of an individual's potential. He thought that happiness as a permanent state can never be achieved and is a transitory stage. Without awareness, there is no chance for an encounter and the fullness of life.

The purpose of this article is to investigate how spirituality was dealt in the theory of Gestalt counseling. Firstly, I discussed the important concepts related to spiritual background of the early theories of Gestalt counseling, such as “awareness and present-centeredness”, “self and the middle in mode” and “contact and dialogue”. The relationship between spirituality and the representative theories of Gestalt counseling, for instance, the “paradoxical principle of change” and the “phenomenological method”, the “field theory” and the “theory of connectedness” and the “method of dialogue” was also discussed. I then reported the process of spiritual transformation proposed by the German Gestalt counselor and priest Ludwig Frambach which was compared to “the five-layer model of neurosis” and to the traditional religions, such as Buddhism and contemplative Christianity. Finally, I briefly introduced the contact-boundary disturbances related to spirituality and methods of counseling on the subject of spirituality, for example, spiritual experiment and technique of imagery.

관엽식물에서 SO2 처리에 의한 이차독성물질 생성 및 항산화효소의 유도

To study whether the secondary toxic substances such as ethylene and reactive oxygen species(ROS) are induced by air pollutants in foliage plants, SO₂ was fumigated to Pachira aquatica, Spathiphyllum patinii, and Hedera helix. SO₂ was controlled to 1 μL/L and then fiumigated to plants for 2 days(8 hrs/day). It resulted in visible injury in P. aquatica and H. helix while no symptom appeared in S. patinii. Photosynthetic rate and water use efficiency were most remarkably reduced in P. aquatica compared to other two species whereas least in S. patinii. Two days after SO₂ fumigation, ethylene evolution was quantified to 23.56, 10.43 and 4.79 nL/g/h in P. aquatica, H. helix and S patinii, respectively. On the other hand, antioxidative enzymes were clearly activated by SO₂ treatment in all tested plant species implying ROS production. In conclusion, we could suggest that ethylene and ROS have been intimately related to the defense mechanism against SO₂ and their induction degree increased with plant susceptibility to SO₂. Furthermore, it was found that S. patinii was tolerant and P. aquatica sensitive to SO₂ on the basis of antioxidative enzyme activity and ethylene evolution.

This thesis investigated the perceptions of Korean EFL learners and English teachers regarding native English speaker teachers (NEST). The purpose of the study is two fold: to examine the degree of Korean students' preference on NESTs and to analyze the opinions of the Korean EFL teachers and NESTs about the desirable qualities of NESTs. For this research questionnaire surveys were conducted to a total of 635 elementary, secondary, and university students. Also 50 Korean EFL teachers and 50 NESTs participated in the questionnaire surveys. Analysis of the responses to the questionnaire items revealed the following major points. Students valued the NESTs' spoken English ability as the most preferable advantage. Preference for NESTs increased as the students built up confidence in English learning. Also, the students criticised that NESTs generally lack diverse ELT-related professional knowledge. They were also critical of teaching English in English in Korean English classrooms. Both Korean EFL teachers and NESTs considered teaching-related skills such as passion in teaching, reliability as teacher, concern about students, sincere response to students' questions, proper reaction to students' demands, using diverse techniques, etc. as the most important elements for desirable English teachers. Students felt it necessary for NESTs to have basic Korean language competence to enhance the efficacy of classroom English learning. They also suggested that Korean EFL teachers improve English proficiency for effective communicative language teaching.
