연구에서는 주물사용 규석의 생산과정에서 발생되는 부산물인 미립 분말의 부가가치를 향상시킬 수 있는 기술개발을 통하여 자원의 절약과 재활용은 물론이고, 환경오염 문제의 해결에도 기여하고자 하였다. 성분분석 결과 입자 크기가 큰 경우에는 SiO2의 함량이 낮고 다른 불순물의 함량이 많았으며, 부산물의 경우는 SiO2의 함량이 94.37%로 비교적 낮고 Fe2O3, Al2O3 및 K2O의 함량이 상대적으로 높았다. XRD 분석 결과 석영 이외에 백운모가 상당량 포함되어 있어 품위 및 회수율 향상에 영향을 미칠 것으로 생각되어 이를 효과적으로 제거 할 수 있는 자력선발과 비중선별을 이용하였다. 자력선별 실험결과 부산물(tailing)의 경우 SiO2 품위와 산출률은 각각 98.42%와 87.35%까지 향상되었으며 Fe2O3의 함량은 0.17%이었다. 비중선별 결과 SiO2 품위와 산출률은 각각 96.08%와 91.16%까지 향상되었으며 Fe2O3의 함량은 0.30%로 자력선별의 경우보다 효율이 좋지 않았다. 부산물(tailing)을 대상으로 Attrition Mill로 알루미나 볼과 스테인레스 볼을 Grinding media로 이용하여 60min 정도 분쇄한 결과 평균입도 2~3㎛ 정도의 미립 실리카 분체를 제조할 수 있었다. Representative samples of solid molding sand wastes were obtained from Kwang-Jin Industrial Co. located in Chunchon. The molding sand wastes contains mainly fine iron particles, iron oxides and mica group minerals. Sand grains are angular because of being produced by the impact crushers. This study was carried out to develop an effective and economic purification technique for removing iron minerals by using magnetic separator and Mozley table. Results of experiment using the magnetic separator showed the production ratio of SiO2 increased up to 98.42wt.% and 87.35wt.% and the amount of content of Fe2O3 was 0.17wt.%. and those using the Mozley table separator showed SiO2 up to 96.08wt.% and Fe2O3 was 0.30wt.%, respectively. In grinding tests, silica flour of mean size 2~3㎛ was produced using attrition mill by stainless ball and alumina ball grinding about 60 minutes.
사매가 Ovalbumin감작으로 유발된 천식 생쥐 모델에서 기관지염증 억제에 미치는 영향

Asthma is a chronic inflammatory disease of the airways, characterized by airway eosinophilia, goblet cell hyperplasia with mucus hypersecretion, and hyper-responsiveness to both inhaled allergens and nonspecific stimuli. Eosinophil are important in the pathogenesis of asthma, with release of inflammatory mediators such as histamine, leukotrienes, cytokines, and IgE after exposure to allergen. Objectives : This research investigates the effect of the extract of Duchesnea chrysanta (EDC) on OVA-indued asthma murine model. Methods : After i.p of C57BL/6 mice, OVA sensitization (day 0) were challenged intratracheally with OVA on days 8 and 21. EDC administered weeks 8, blocked the airway inflammatory response to OVA assessed 24 h after the last OVA challenge on day 22. Results : The CC chemokine receptor 3 (CCR3) is expressed by eosinophils, mast cells, and Th2 cells. The role of CCR3 in a murine model of allergic skin inflammation induced by repeated epicutaneous sensitization with ovalbumin (OVA), and characterized by eosinophil skin infiltration, local expression of Th2 cytokines, and airway hyperresponsiveness (AHR) to inhaled antigen. The administration of EDC during OVA inhalation significantly reduced CCR3 plays an essential role in eosinophil recruitment to the skin and the lung and in the development of AHR.. EDC extract reduced total lung cells and eosinophils in bronchoalveolar lavage fluid, airway tissue eosinophilia, goblet cell hyperplasia, mucus secretion, and peribronchial edema. The inhibitory effect on airway eosinophilia and AHR was associated with reduced levels of IL-4, IL-5, and IL-13 in the bronchoalveolar lavage fluid as well as reduced serum levels of OVA-IgE. We show that OVA inhalation following OVA immunization increased airway responsiveness to induced IL-113, IL-4 and IL-5 mRNA expression in the lung tissue. The administration of EDC during OVA inhalation significantly reduced this increased airway hyperresponsiveness and also inhibited airway inflammation. Conclusions : These results support EDC as a therapeutic target in asthma and indicate that selective EDC inhibitors can reduce allergic airway inflammation.

Lime is one of the world's most useful chemicals and manufactured in various types of kilns, using various fuels. Quicklimes vary in reactivity with water due to variations in the time and temperature calcining process and type of kiln used. Careful attention and control of time and temperature in the calcining process is necessary to insure a highly reactive lime. Excess time and temperature will cause the lime to be over burned. The highest reactivity of quicklime is obtained by calcination of limestone in the particle size of 0.1cm∼2cm, calcination temperature of 1000℃, calcination time 90min. It was found by the scanning electron microscopes that pores of quick lime is reducted if the soft burned quick lime is heated continually.

Objectives: We surveyed the prevalence of smoking among the adolescent population and analysed the correlation of the two exposure biomarkers-concentration of blood cadmium and urinary cotinine-to the smoking status. Methods: Subjects were 193 middle and high school students in Chungnam province. Blood cadmium and urinary cotinine were compared by sex and smoking status. Smoking status were classified by either the concentration of urinary cotinine or subjective answering as a smoker in the questionnaire. Results: Smoking prevalence was 24.6%, 36.2% and 6.7% among all subjects, male and female subjects, respectively. Average smoking amount was 17.5 and 1.5 cigarettes per month among the male subjects and female subjects, respectively Mean concentration of urinary cotinine among the male subjects was 135.57 ㎍/ℓ, and that of female subjects was 116.59 ㎍/. Direct smokers showed higher concentration of urinary cotinine than those of indirect smokers, and subjects with higher urinary concentration showed higher prevalence of smoking, too. Mean concentration of blood cadmium was 0.0572 ㎍/㎗ among the male subjects, and 0.0693 ㎍/㎗ among the female subjects. Among the male subjects, both exposure biumarkers showed significant correlation to the smoking status, but among the female subjects urinary cotinine did not show significant correlation to the smoking status. Conclusion: Concentrations of these two biomarkers suggested that this population had significantly high evironmental tobacco smoking(ETS) and efficient stop-smoking programs to reduce ETS should be directed to this population.
