        Apoptosis and necroptosis‑inducing effects of arctigenin on nasal septum carcinoma RPMI‑2650 cells in 2D and 3D culture

        Backgrounds Arctigenin derived from the seeds of Arctium lappa Linnaeus is known as an anticancer drug candidate by targeting various pathways involved in anticancer therapy. Methods Using 2D monolayer and 3D spheroid culture systems in nasal septum carcinoma RPMI-2650 cells, the effects of arctigenin and dexamethasone on cell viability, ROS levels, ATP level, mitochondrial function, apoptosis and necroptosis were examined. Results The combination treatment of both compounds induced strong cytotoxicity, accompanied by increases of sub-G0/ G1 peak, annexin V-PE-positive cells, and ROS levels, loss of mitochondrial membrane potential, and decrease of cellular ATP content. These changes were observed as simultaneous induction of DNA damage, apoptosis, and necroptosis. A series of changes by arctigenin and dexamethasone were efficiently restored by decreasing ROS levels or supplementing ATP. Treatment of 3D spheroids with arctigenin and dexamethasone decreased cell viability in the spheroids, but it was slightly resistant than cells under 2D conditions. In addition, this phenomenon was accompanied by an increase in mediators for both apoptosis and necroptosis. Conclusion Results of this study suggest that the apoptosis and necroptosis-inducing effects of arctigenin are associated with ATP depletion due to oxidative mitochondrial dysfunction.

        In recent years, gonorrhea has been pandemic and remains one of the most common STDs in the world, especially in developing countries. For the detection of a more effective therapeutic regimen and assessing the prevalence of Penicillinase Producing Neisseria gonorrhoeae(PPNG), we have been trying to study the patients who have visited the Venereal Disease Clinic of Choong-Ku Public Health Center in Seoul since 1980 by menas of the chromogenic cephalosporin method. In 1998, 93 strians of N. genorrhoeae were isolated, among which 60(64.5%) were PPNG. The prevalence of PPNG in Seoul, which had been decreased to 39% in 1996 after a peak of 74.3% in 1993, is increased to 64.5% in 1998.

        Background : In recent years, gonorrhea has been panedemic and remains one of the most commom STDs in the world, especially in developing countries. Objective & Methods: For the detection of a more effective therapeutic regimen and assessing the prevalence of PPNG, we have been trying to study the patients who have visited the VD Clinic of Choong-Ku Public Health Center in Seoul since 1980 by means of the chromogenic cephalosporin method. Results: In 1996, 139 strains of N. gonorrhoeae were isolated, among which 53(39.0%) were PPNG. Conclusion: Our results suggests that after a peak of 74.3% in 1993, the prevalence of PPNG in Seoul is gradually declining.

        The steam generator water level is difficult to control at low power due to its reversed responses to the feedwater flow, which are well known as the shrink and swell phenomena. With regard to this problem a new control scheme has been studied by which the level transients could be kept within permissible ranges at low power. The relations between the various input conditions to steam generator and the level transients have been examined to be expressed in the form of process transfer functions. Analog filters have been incorporated to the process with proper control constants. This control scheme allows the prediction of level variation together with the corresponding feedwater rate and results in milder transients with good stabilities.

        In this assentation I tried to investigate and analyze the actual behaviors of the coaches of the high level male and female team and the behaviors that the players of the team prefer. I came to conclude like the followings through the analysis of 432 Leadership scale for sports from 30 coaches and 432 players in the 30 teams which is constitute of the 20 coaches and 309 players in 20 male high level teams and the 10 coaches and 123 players in 10 female high level teams. 1) The coaches in the male teams are better in efficiency of teaching because the male team coaches are better in the background variables of age, career, and the career of winning the prize. 2) In the assentation on the actual of coach the male team coaches have the strongest disposition of behavior that influence on the advancement of the game, whereas the female team coaches the strongest disposition of democratic behavior. Considering such the differences of leadership behaviors, the coaches of male team have the disposition of emphasis of the task, whereas the coaches of female team emphasis of the relations. 3) In the research of leadership scale among the teams, the male players prefer behavior of training and indicating, positive reward, social support, democratic, and then authority behavior whereas the female players positive reward, social support, democratic, training and indicating and then authority. 4) In the research of preferable behavior, male players prefer the training and indicating, positive reward, social support, and then authority behavior, whereas the female players positive reward, social support, democratic behavior, training and indicating and then authority behavior. The male players were found to prefer such behaviors as influence the advancement of the game power directly, whereas the female players most prefer such behaviors as reward the results of the game. 5) In the comparison of the leadership behaviors that male and female players prefer, the male players have stronger disposition to want training and indications, authorities than female players,, whereas the female players prefer the democratic behaviors, social supports, positive rewards. 6) In the differences of the actual behaviors the players want from the coach, the male players differs in the democratic behaviors most, whereas the female players in the authority behaviors. 7) In the research on the differences of the behaviors the coach actually do and the players expect, ·in the training and indications, the male team players were a little more satisfied than the female team players. ·in the democratic behaviors, the male team players were more unsatisfied. ·in the authority behaviors, the female team players want more authorities from the coaches. ·in the social supports, the female team players were more unsatisfied. ·in the positive rewards, the female team players were more unsatisfied.

        졸 - 겔법에 의한 다공성 알루미나 미분체 제조에 관한 연구 : 2 . 물과 알콕시드의 비가 알루미나 미분체의 결정화 공정에 미치는 영향 2 . The Effect of [ H2O ] / [ Al - alkoxide ]on The Crystallization Mechanism of As - Prepared Particles

        알루미늄 알콕시드의 반응속도를 제어하기 위한 혼합용매와 입자제조 과정에서의 응집을 방지하기 위한 분산제로 HPC를 첨가하는 방법에 의하여 구형의 다공성 알루미나 미분체를 제조하였으며, XRD, FT-IR 및 TG-DTA 분석을 통하여 공정변수로 선정한 물과 알루미늄 알콕시드의 비가 제조된 미분체의 결정화 공정에 미치는 영향에 대하여 고찰하였다. 축중합 반응에 첨가된 물과 Al-알콕시드의 비는 제조된 미분체 및 하소 공정을 거친 미분체의 결정구조에 영향을 미침을 알 수 있었다. [H₂O]/[ASB]의 비가 증가할수록 제조된 미분체는 비정질의 Al(OH)₃로부터 점진적으로 AlO(OH)의 화학조성을 갖는 의사-보헤마이트로 결정성이 바뀌었다. 그리고 건조 공정을 거친 미분체의 결정성이 좋을수록 δ와 θ-Al₂O₃는 저온에서 생성되었으나, α-Al₂O₃는 고온에서 생성되었다. 이와 같은 결과는 Al^(3+)이온의 결정 내에서의 배위체 변화와 관계됨을 알 수 있었다. 그리고 [H₂O]/[ASB]=2의 조건에서 제조된 입자는 다른 시료와 달리 600℃에서 η-Al₂O₃로 1,100℃에서 α-Al₂O₃2로 상전이 되었다. Spherical porous alumina particles were prepared by mixed solvent to control the reaction rate of Al-alkoxide and the particle shape with hydroxy-propyl cellulose(HPC). HPC was used as a dispersant to prevent aggregation during the formation of particles. The effect of [H₂O]/[ASB] ratio on the crystallization reactions of as-prepared particles was studied by XRD, FT-IR, and TG-DTA analysis. The mole ratio of water and Al-alkoxide added in the condensation reaction had an important effect on the crystal structure of as-prepared particles and the calcined particles. As the [H₂O]/[ASB] ratio increase, the crystal structure of as-prepared particles was continuously varied from amorphous Al(OH)₃ to pseudo-boehmite with chemical composition of AIO(OH). The samples which have higher crystallinite after drying process were transformed into the δ- and θ-Al₂O₃ at lower calcination temperature, but these sample were transformed into α-Al₂O₃ at higher calcination temperature. This result was thought to be the transformation of the coordination number of Al^(3+) ion in the crystal structure. The particles prepared by [H₂O]/[ASB]=2 condition crystallized to α-Al₂O₃at 600℃ and converted to η-Al₂O₃at 1,100℃ without intermediate phases.

      • The Dynamic Controller Design of the Nuclear Steam Generator Water Level Control System

        The steam generator feedwater and level control system is designed by two steps of the feedwater control design and the feedback loop controller design. The feedwater servo system is designed by the optimal LQR/LQG approach and then is modified by the LTR method to recover the robustness. The plant characteristics are subject to change with the power variation and tnese dynamic properties are considered in the design of the feedback controller. All the designs are made in the continuous domain and are digitalized by applying the proper sampling period. The system is simulated for the two cases of power increase and decrease. From the results of simulation, it is found that the controller constants would rather be invariable during the power increase, while for the case of power decrease they should be changed with the power variation to keep the system stability.

        High speed fiber spinning of polyethylene terephthalate(PET) was simulated at take-up speed of 6000m/min utilizing generalized steady state governing equations of melt spinning and some other assumed relationship for structure formation. In the present paper, the effect of changes of quench air temperature on the spinning line were mainly discussed. Distance of necking point and stress from the spinneret was elongated when higher quench air temperature was applied. Changes of necking point and stress may affect the development of PET fiber structure in the high speed threadline.

        음향방출을 이용한 콘크리트 부재의 미시적 파괴특성의 온라인 모니터링

        콘크리트는 다상(multi-phase)의 재료로서 구성되어지는 복합재료의 일종으로써 준취성(quasi-brittle)적인 재료적 특성을 가지고 있기 때문에 실제 복잡한 미시적 파괴특성을 나타낸다. 따라서 콘크리트 구조물의 안전성 확보를 위해서는 먼저 하중의 증가에 따른 콘크리트 내부의 변형특성 및 미시적 파손기구를 파악하여야 하며, 특히 실제 구조물에 있어서는 이들 특성들을 비파괴적으로 상시(on-line) 모니터링 하여야 할 필요가 있다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 3점 굽힘 하중을 받는 콘크리트 부재의 미시적 파손기구 및 각 파손기구에 대한 AE 특성을 명확히 함으로써 콘크리트 부재의 미시적 손상 및 파괴 특성을 비파괴적으로 평가하고 AE 발생원 위치 추정 기법을 이용하여 균열 발생 및 진전거동을 평가하였다. Since concrete is an inhomogeneous material consisting of larger aggregates and sand embedded in a cement paste matrix, it relatively shows a complex failure mechanism. In order to assure the reliability of concrete structure, microscopic fracture behavior and internal damage progress of concrete under the loading should be fully understood. In this study, an acoustic emission(AE) technique has been used to clarify microscopic failure mechanism and their corresponding AE signal characteristics of concrete under three-point bending test. In addition 2-dimensional AE source location has been performed to monitor the progress of an internal damage and the successive crack growth behavior during the loading. The relationship between AE signal characteristics and microscopic fracture mechanism is discussed.

        위험도 정보 활용을 위한 화재 PSA 방법론 개선 연구 현황

        본 논문에서는 현재 세계적으로 사용되고 있는 화재 PSA 방법론을 살펴보고 화재방호를 목적으로 위험도 정보를 이용할 시 요구되는 방법론의 개선 사항을 파악하였다. 화재 PSA의 결과 및 이를 통한 통찰(insight)은 의사 결정을 하는데 완전한 기술적인 근거라 하기 보다는 위험도 정보를 활용한 의사 결정 과정의 일부로서 사용될 수 있으며, 화재 PSA 결과의 적용 분야와 적용 수준은 PSA에서 사용된 모델의 정확성과 타당성에 좌우된다고 할 수 있다. 따라서 화재 PSA의 유용성은 많은 분야의 연구와 개발을 통해 현재 기술 수준 증진에 따라 확대될 것이며, 그에 따라 더 일관성 있는 결과를 낳게 될 것으로 판단한다. In this paper, many vulnerable areas of the present fire PSA methodology were revealed to apply risk-informed fire protection to nuclear power plants. The results and insights from the fire PSA should be used as part of a risk-informed decision making process rather than the complete technical basis for decision making. The degree of support and scope of applications is dependent on the accuracy and validity of the model used in the fire PSA. Accordingly, the usefulness of the fire PSA will increase as ongoing research and development efforts lead to improvements in the state of the art technology, and as improvements in implementation of the state of the art technology lead to more consistent results.
