We propose a simplest detector of harmonic vibrations with micro amplitudes and low frequencies,i.e. a detector consisting of one atomic beam. Here, the atomic beam is induced by a plane harmonicwave and has classical collective harmonic vibrations, whose vibrant directions are perpendicularto the wave vectors of the atomic beam. Compared with a detector consisting of an atomic Mach-Zehnder interferometer, the new detector has two advantages: (1) it is suitable for the detection ofharmonic vibrations induced either by a longitudinal plane harmonic wave or by using a transverseplane harmonic wave: (2) the quantum noise fluctuation of the atomic beam is exactly zero. Wepresent the principle for detecting classical harmonic vibrations with micro amplitudes and lowfrequencies by using the new detector. The frequency of a classical harmonic vibration with a microamplitude can be evaluated by measuring the variations in the mean numbers of atoms arriving atthe atomic detector.

A classical charged particle travels along a circular orbit and interacts with a silver atom in its ground state fixed at the center of the circle through Biot-Savart coupling. We find that if the silver atom initially lies in a spin superposition state of valence electron, in the co-rotating frame of reference the projected measurements of the spin of silver’s valence electron along the z direction determine the rotational direction, and the projected measurements of that spin along the x or the y direction yield planet versions of the state of Schr¨odinger’s cat.
Mechanism and Experimental Investigation of Ultra High Pressure Water Jet on Rubber Cutting

The recycle and reuse of rubber materials has become a global environment problem with the fast increasing amount of waste rubber. Compared to traditional recycle methods, ultra high pressure water jet, as a fast developing tool of cool cutting, can be used inrecycling rubber materials without damaging the internal organization structure of materials. This paper investigates ultra highpressure jet cutting rubber in mechanism and experiment. Different from metallic materials and brittle materials, rubber materialsare cut by the force of shear and tensile under the impinging of ultra high pressure water jet and the erosion of high speed waterflow with rubber powder. The overall structure of kerf is Y shape. The upper section of Y shape is caused by shear, the middle sectionis resulted from both shear and tensile, and the bottom section is a result of the erosion and the tensile. The results of experimentshow: (1) a significant linear correlation between cutting depth and pump pressure;(2) 2.0 mm/s is the optimal transverse velocityunder the current experiment condition;(3) the cutting depth has a decreasing tendency with the stand-off distance increased. It canbe concluded from orthogonal analysis that pump pressure has a signification effect on cutting depth, nozzle transverse velocity isnot remarkable, and the effect of stand-off distance is not obvious.

Purpose: To investigate the efficacy and safety of intraperitoneal chemotherapy (IPC) for patients with gastric cancer and to compare effects between different regimens of IPC. Method: Randomized controlled trials comparing the effects of surgery plus intraperitoneal chemotherapy with surgery alone or comparing the efficacy between different regimens of intraperitoneal chemotherapy were searched for in Medline, Embase, Pubmed, the Cochrane Library and the Chinese BioMedical Disc and so on by two independent reviewers. After quality assessment and data extraction, data were pooled for meta-analysis using RevMan5.16 software. Tests of interaction were used to test for differences of effects among subgroups grouped according to different IPC regimens. Results: Fifteen RCTs with a total of 1713 patients with gastric cancer were included for quality assessment and data extraction. Ten studies were judged to be of fair quality and entered into meta-analysis. Hyperthermic intraoperative intraperitoneal chemotherapy (HR=0.60, P<0.01), hyperthermic intraoperative intraperitoneal chemotherapy plus postoperative intraperitoneal chemotherapy (HR=0.47, P<0.01) and normothermic intraoperative intraperitoneal chemotherapy (HR=0.70, P=0.01) were associated with a significant improvement in overall survival. Tests of interaction showed that hyperthermia and additional postoperative intraperitoneal chemotherapy did not impact on its effect. Further analysis revealed that intraperitoneal chemotherapy remarkably decrease the rate of postoperative hepatic metastasis by 73% (OR=0.27, 95% CI=0.12 to 0.67, P<0.01). However, intraperitoneal chemotherapy increased risks of marrow depression (OR=5.74, P<0.01), fever (OR=3.67, P=0.02) and intra-abdominal abscess (OR=3.57, P<0.01). Conclusion: The present meta-analysis demonstrates that hyperthermic intraoperative intraperitoneal chemotherapy and normothermic intraoperative intraperitoneal chemotherapy should be recommended to treat patients with gastric cancer because of improvement in overall survival. However, it is noteworthy that intraperitoneal chemotherapy can increase the risks of marrow depression, intra-abdominal abscesses, and fever.
Low-loss carrier-stored IGBT with p-type Schottky diode-clamped shielding layer

A novel carrier-stored trench bipolar transistor (CSTBT) with heavily doped carrier-stored layer (CSL) is proposed and investigated by TCAD tools. The voltage of CSL is shielded by a buried p-type layer (P-bury) whose potential is clamped by a p-type Schottky Barrier Diode (pSBD) in series-connection with a PN diode. Hence, the CSL can be heavily doped, and the trade-off between on-state voltage drop (V<sub>on</sub>) and turn-off loss (E<sub>off</sub>) is substantially improved. Compared with that of a conventional CSTBT with floating P-base (FP-CSTBT), the E<sub>off</sub> of the proposed CSTBT is reduced by 27.9% at V<sub>on</sub>=1.1 V. Owing to the shielding effect of the P-bury layer, the saturation current density of the proposed CSTBT is reduced by 52% compared with that of the FP-CSTBT. Consequently, significantly enlarged short-circuit safe operation area is obtained, and the short-circuit withstand time (t<sub>sc</sub>) is increased to 12.8 s at ultra-low V<sub>on</sub> (~1.1 V).
Occupational Cooking and Risk of Uveal Melanoma: a Meta-analysis

Background: Many observational studies have assessed the possible association between occupational cooking and uveal melanoma risk, but reported results are controversial. Our goal was to evaluate the association between occupational cooking and uveal melanoma risk by conducting a meta-analysis of observational studies. Methods: PubMed, EMBASE, and Web of Science were searched through June 2012 to identify all eligible studies. The pooled odds ratio (OR) with its 95% confidence interval (95%CI) was used to evaluate this association. Either a fixed- or a random-effects model were used to calculate pooled ORs. Results: Five case-control studies involving a total of 1,199 cases and 6,927 controls were included in the meta-analysis. Overall, occupational cooking was associated with an increased risk of uveal melanoma (OR: 1.81, 95%CI 1.33-2.46, P < 0.001). Subgroup analysis by gender suggested occupational cooking was associated with increased risk of uveal melanoma in both men (OR: 2.16, 95%CI 1.06-4.40, P = 0.034) and women (OR: 1.92, 95%CI 1.19-3.10, P = 0.008). Conclusion: This meta-analysis suggests that occupational cooking is associated with an increased risk of uveal melanoma in both men and women.

This research has divided enviro-friendly agricultural products into “ogranic”and “pesticides-free”, and, with the application of the bivariate probitmodel, analyzed the factors influencing on purchasing of enviro-friendly agricultural products. The results and their implications are as follows. The analysis result of the purchasing of organic agricultural products has revealed that when the consumers are more concerned more about freshness, their purchase intention of organic agricultural products showed positive (+) effect. The more awareness of the quality certification for organic agricultural products or pesticide-free agricultural products, and the more necessity about the quality certification system, the more increase of purchasing for each agricultural products it shows. Thus, it can be concluded that since the purchase intention of enviro-friendly agricultural products is most affected by the fact whether or not have “awareness of the quality certification system”, it is necessary to provide the consumers with continuous promotion and education of the system. Furthermore, in the distribution process of the quality certified agricultural products, it is necessary to have a continuous expansion of the uniformed advanced distribution system such as refrigeration for freshness maintenance, precoolingprocessing, cold chain system, and so on. Lastly, a differentiated market strategy is needed according to the certification authority of enviro-friendly agricultural products.

FADS1 (fatty acid desaturase 1) plays a crucial role in fatty acid metabolism, and it was recently reported to be involved in tumorigenesis. However, the role of FADS1 expression in esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC) remains unknown. In the current study, we investigated the expression and clinical pathologic and prognostic significance of FADS1 in ESCC. Immunohistochemical analyses revealed that 58.2% (146/251) of the ESCC tissues had low levels of FADS1 expression, whereas 41.8% (105/251) exhibited high levels of FADS1 expression. In positive cases, FADS1 expression was detected in the cytoplasm of cells. Correlation analyses demonstrated that FADS1 expression was significantly correlated with tumor location (p=0.025) but not with age, gender, histological grade, tumor status, nodal status or TNM staging. Furthermore, patients with tumors expressing high levels of FADS1had a longer disease-free survival time (p<0.001) and overall survival time (p <0.001). Univariate and multivariate analyses revealed that, along with nodal status, FADS1 expression was an independent and significant predictive factor (p<0.001). In conclusion, our study suggested that FADS1 might be a valuable biomarker and potential therapeutic target for ESCC.

Background: Artesunate, extracted from Artemisia annua, has been proven to have anti-cancer potential. Allicin, diallyl thiosulfinate, the main biologically active compound derived from garlic, is also of interest in cancer treatment research. This object of this report was to document synergistic effects of artesunate combined with allicin on osteosarcoma cell lines in vitro and in vivo. Methods: After treatment with artesunate and allicin at various concentrations, the viability of osteosarcoma cells was analyzed by MTT method, with assessment of invasion and motility, colony formation and apoptosis. Western Blotting was performed to determine the expression of caspase-3/9, and activity was also detected after drug treatment. Moreover, in a nude mouse model established with orthotopic xenograft tumors, tumor weight and volume were monitored after drug administration via the intraperitoneal (i.p.) route. Results: The viability of osteosarcoma cells in the combination group was significantly decreased in a concentration and time dependent manner; moreover, invasion, motility and colony formation ability were significantly suppressed and the apoptotic rate was significantly increased through caspase-3/9 expression and activity enhancement in the combination group. Furthermore, suppression of tumor growth was evident in vivo. Conclusion: Our results indicated that artesunate and allicin in combination exert synergistic effects on osteosarcoma cell proliferation and apoptosis.

The maple poison moth (MPM), Lymantria nebulosa (Wileman), is a Lepidopteran defoliator and one of the most important pests of Liquidambar formosana Hance. The objective of this study was to determine the effects of temperature on the population growth and reproduction of this species. MPM were raised in artificial climate chambers in a laboratory at 21 ± 1°C, 24 ± 1°C, 27 ± 1°C, 30 ± 1°C, 33 ± 1°C and 36 ± 1°C, under a relative humidity (RH) of 70% ± 10% and a 14 L:10D photoperiod, and age-stage, two-sex life tables complied for insects at each temperature. The developmental duration, adult preoviposition period and overall preoviposition period decreased with temperature in a time-dependent manner. The growth curves of the different temperature groups overlapped considerably. The highest larval survival rate (80%) was recorded at 30 ± 1°C. At 36°C only a few eggs hatched and the first instar could not complete the first molt. We consequently regard 36°C as the lethal temperature threshold for this species. Life expectancy decreased with age under all six temperatures. The endogenous growth rate was significantly lower at 21 ± 1°C than at the other temperatures, and was highest in 30 ± 1°C group. The net growth rate of the 30 ± 1°C group was also significantly higher than others. Reproductive parameters were highest at 27 ± 1°C and 30 ± 1°C. Although environmental factors absent from the laboratory environment may limit the generality of our results, they nonetheless provide a theoretical basis for developing integrated control methods for MPM in the wild.
