        Sludge Solubilization using Microwave Irradiation in the Presence of Fe Powder

        In this study, microwave irradiation, which is reflected by metals, was used to reduce the amount of sewage sludge, and the results were used to verify solubilization efficiency and determine optimum operation conditions. Biogas production and methane content of the gas under optimized conditions were measured with the biochemical methane potential (BMP) test. The sludge was taken from a thickened sludge tank at J sewage treatment plant (JSTP) in Seoul, Korea. For the experiments, 50 mL of sludge was filled in vessels and the vessels were irradiated with the power of 500, 600, 700, and 800W for 2~5 min. In addition, Fe powder was added by 0.01, 0.05, and 0.1 g to compare the efficiency with and without Fe powder. The results confirmed that solubilization efficiency was higher in the presence of Fe powder. The optimum conditions of 0.01 g addition of Fe powder with 800W irradiation for 5 min, yielded nearly 22.95% higher solubilization efficiency than without Fe powder. The BMP tests were carried out using sludge obtained from the experiments carried out under the optimum conditions. As a result, sludge subjected by 800W with 0.01 g of Fe powder for 5 min displayed the highest level of gas production and methane content. Through this study, it could be confirmed that solubilization efficiency increased by addition of Fe powder.

        Forty eight strains of yeast were cultured in potato dextorse(PD) broth at 30˚C for 24 hr and centrifuged with 12,000 rpm for 20 min. After concentrated the cultures, antihypertensive angiotensin I-converting enzyme(ACE) inhibitory activities of its concentrates were investigated. Among them, the concentrates from Saccharomyces cerevisiae Y183-3 showed the highest ACE inhibitory activity of 71.8%. The ACE inhibitor from Saccharomyces cerevisiae Y183-3 was maximally produced when Saccharomyces cerevisiae Y183-3 cultured in PD broth at 30˚C for 36 hr.

        Feasibility of Calibrating Smartphone to Access Physical Activity

        대부분의 신체활동측정을 위해 연구들은 가속도계를 이용하여 측정되어져 왔다. 하지만, 스마트폰이 대중화 되면서스마트폰에 내장된 가속도계를 이용하여 신체활동을 측정 할 수 있는 에플리케이션들이 빈도 높게 늘어나고 있다. 따라서 이 연구에서는 스마트폰에 내장되어 있는 가속도계를 이용하여 에너지 소비량을 구하는 공식을 만들고 그 공식을 현재 연구중심으로 많이 사용되는 가속계와 비교하고 교차분석을 통하여 정확성과 실용성을 검증하는 것이다. 이러한 목적을 달성하기 위하여 건강한 성인 44명을 편의추출 하여 가속계와 스마트폰을 착용시켜 69분 동안 다양한 일상생활 활동을 시켰으며 신체활동 측정의 준거검사인 간접열량계(Oxycon Mobile)가 사용되었다. 회귀분석을 통하여 만들어진 연산은 교차 타탕도 분석을 통하여 정확도를 검증하였고 검사도구의 정확성은 절대오차율(%)을 계산하고 검사도구간 상관계수 (r), Bland-Altman plot 과 equivalence testing 사용하여 검증하였다. 연구결과에 의하면 스마트폰을 통해 얻어진 절대오차율은 (42.4%)를 보였고 Freedson`s 기준치와 비교했을 때는 (38.2%)를 보였다. 그러나 스마트폰을 통해 만들어진 연산은 걷기 와 달리기의 에너지 소비량은 측정하는데 유의하다는 결과가 나왔다. 추후, 스마트폰만을 이용한 신체활동 측정이 다양하게 필요하고 그 정확성을 검증하는 연구들도 필수적으로 요구된다. The purpose of the study was to develop algorithms to predict energy expenditure (EE) and to evaluate their utility compared to existing accelerometer technology. Forty-four participants wore an Actigraph GT3X (AG3X) and the Samsung Galaxy S2 Smartphone (SP) over a 69 min period. Oxygen consumption (VO<sub>2</sub>) was simultaneously measured by a portable indirect calorimetry system. EE prediction equations for the SP were developed from the walking and running activities using standard regression methods. The equation was then cross-validated on a separate holdout sample (n=22) using equivalence testing to evaluate accuracy. The overall mean absolute percentage errors were large for both the SP algorithm (42.4%) and the Freedson`s AG3X algorithm (38.2%). However, the estimated METs from the SP was statistically equivalent to the measured METs for the two activities used in calibration: walking (90% CI: 2.85, 3.50 kcal·min-1) and running (90% CI: 7.64, 8.25 kcal·min-1). Other activities were not accurately assessed with the SP but none of the estimates from the AG3X met the statistical criteria for equivalency. The study demonstrates that data from SP can be easily calibrated to estimate EE and that accuracy is comparable to the common research-grade monitors.

        The presence of ultrasonic wave in caustic cleaning process enhances the remove pollutants, and more homogeneous, textured structure. The silicon wafers, cleaning in Deconex OF 145 solution (0.5~2wt %) with DIW under ultrasonic environment for 5 min. The presence of uniform thin layer of SiO2 on c-Si surface enhances etching rate in the caustic etching mixture solution of NaOH (1.5 wt %), DI water and IPA (6 wt %) at 90℃ for 20 min and results in a fine, more homogeneous and small textured structure.

        팽이버섯 재배 현장에서 Listeria monocytogenes의 성장을 억제하기 위한 살균 처리 기술 개발

        본 연구는 팽이버섯 생산현장에서 사용하는 권지 접착포에서 팽이버섯으로 Listeria monocytogenes 교차오염을 예방하기 위하여 화학적 살균제에 의한 L. monocytogenes 저감 효과를 확인하였다. 과산화초산, 미산성전해수, 이산화염소수, 차아염소산나트륨을 10분간 처리했을 때 권지표면에 부착된 L. monocytogenes를 최대 99.99% 이상 저감화시켰고, 이들 4종의 살균소독제는 팽이버섯 유기물 존재 여부에 관계없이 높은 살균능을 보이므로 권지의 세척소독에 활용가능성이 있음을 확인하였다. 특히 과산화초산은 권지 접착포 거친면과 부드러운면 모두에서 L. monocytogenes를 99.999% 이상 감소시킬 수 있으므로 팽이버섯 권지 세척시 30mg/L 이상의 과산화초산에 30분 이상 침지한 후 사용하면 권지에 오염된 L. monocytogenes의 교차오염을 예방할 수 있을것으로 사료된다. The consumption of enoki mushrooms has been associated with cases of listeriosis produced by Listeria monocytogenes, highlighting the significance of sanitizing food-contact surface, such as the velcro used in welding processing of enoki mushrooms, to ensure microbial safety. We investigated the inhibitory activity of nine chemical disinfectants at regular concentrations against L. monocytogenes isolated from a mushroom farm environment. The bacterial suspension was prepared in phosphate buffered saline and mushroom extract broth and inoculated onto the velcro surface. After inoculation, most disinfectants reduced the initial 8 log CFU/coupon concentration by less than 2 log CFU/coupon during a 5-min treatment. Slightly acidic hypochlorous water showed a reduction of approximately 4 log CFU/coupon when tested for more than 30 min at the maximum allowable concentration of 200 mg/L. Sodium hypochlorite solution showed a reduction of approximately 5 log CFU/coupon when used at 100 mg/L for 60 min. Peracetic acid, at the maximum allowable concentration of 300 mg/L, showed the most effective reduction of 5 log CFU/coupon or more when the surface was treated with 37.5 mg/L for 30 min. These results indicate that peracetic acid can be used as the disinfectant strategy to control cross-contamination of L. monocytogenes on the velcro surface of plastic wrappers used in the welding processing of enoki mushrooms.

        Background: Cerebral palsy (CP) is non-progressive disorder of motion and posture. In CP patient, there are difficulties in dental treatment because of uncontrolled movement of limb and head, and conjoined disabilities such as cognitive impairment, sensory loss, seizures, communication and behavioral disturbances. It is reported that CP patients have high incidence in caries and a higher prevalence of periodontal disease. But, despite the need for oro-dental care, these patients often are unlikely to receive adequate treatment without sedation or general anesthesia because of uncontrolled movements of the trunk or head. Methods: We reviewed the 58 cases of 56 patients with CP who underwent outpatient general anesthesia for dental treatment at the clinic for the disabled in Seoul National University Dental Hospital. Results: The mean age was 19 (2-54) years. The number of male patient was 40 and that of female was 18. They all had severe spastic cerebral palsy and 22 had sever mental retardation, 15 epilepsy, 8 organic brain disorder, 1 blindness, 2 deafness and cleft palate. For anesthesia induction, 14 cases was needed physical restriction who had sever mental retardation and cooperation difficulty, but 44 cases showed good or moderate cooperation. Drugs used for anesthesia induction were thiopental (37 cases), sevoflurane (14 cases), ketamine (3 cases ) and propofol (4 cases). All patients except one were done nasotracheal intubation for airway management and 4 cases were needed difficult airway management and 1 patient already had tracheostomy tube. Mean total anesthetic time was $174{\pm}56$ min and staying time at PACU was $88{\pm}39$ min. There was no death or long term hospitalization because of severe complications. Conclusion: If general anesthesia is needed, pertinent diagnostic tests and workup about anomaly, and appropriate anesthetic planning are essential for safety.

        FSCB phosphorylation in mouse spermatozoa capacitation

        It is generally accepted that spermatozoa capacitation is associated with protein kinase A-mediated tyrosine phosphorylation. In our previous study, we identified the fibrous sheath CABYR binding protein (FSCB), which was phosphorylated by PKA. However, the phosphorylation status of FSCB protein during spermatozoa capacitation should be further investigated. To this aim, in this study, we found that phosphorylation of this 270-kDa protein occurred as early as 1 min after mouse spermatozoa capacitation, which increased over time and remained stable after 60 min. Immunoprecipitation assays demonstrated that the tyrosine and Ser/Thr phosphorylation of FSCB occurred during spermatozoa capacitation. The extent of phosphorylation and was closely associated with the PKA activity and spermatozoa motility characteristics. FSCB phosphorylation could be induced by PKA agonist DB-cAMP, but was blocked by PKA antagonist H-89.Therefore, FSCB contributes to spermatozoa capacitation in a tyrosine-phosphorylated format, which may help in further elucidating the molecular mechanism of spermatozoa capacitation.       • 나선철근 이음을 위한 강관압착식 커플러에 관한 연구

        교각이나 기둥에서 횡방향 구속철근으로서의 나선철근 사용은 구조적 안전성, 내진효과, 경제성 등에서 효과가 있으나 곡률이 가능한 연결방법의 부재로 사용되지 못하고 있는 실정이다. 본 연구에서는 곡률이 가능한 연결방법인 강관압착식 커플러를 개발하여 나선철근에 적용하기 위한 실험을 실시하였다. 강관압착커플러에 대한 인장강도 시험 및 반복하중 시험을 실시한 결과, 나선천근 연결 공법 적용에 가능한 것으로 나타났다. The spiral provides the column with the ability to absorb considerable deformation prior to failure. Although this toughness is the principal gain that is achieved by the use of spirall reinforced columns, the its servicibility is limited by the fault of lap splices. The mechanical connection for the spiral bar placement is developmented in the study. The study contains for the experiment of the mechanical connection.

      • 다면적 인성검사(MMPI) 군집 분석을 통한 대학생 내담자의 유형 분류

        본 연구에서는 학생생활연구소를 방문한 대학생 156명을 대상으로 다면적 인성검사(MMPI) 프로파일을 군집 분석하고 유형별 특징을 살펴보았다. MMPI 만용에 따라 4개의 군집으로 분류할 수 있었고, 집단 1(31%)은 방어적 집단, 집단 2(8%)는 도움 호소 집단, 집단 3(50%)은 정상 프로파일 집단, 집단 4(12%)는 신경증적 집단으로 정의되었다. 4개 집단 중에서 집단 2(도움 호소 집단)와 집단 어신경증적 집단)는 일상 생활에서 불편함을 경험할 가능성이 많은 집단이므로 이 두 집단에 대한 주의깊은 관심이 필요할 것으로 여겨진다. 집단2(도움 호소 집단)는 전반적인 적용에서 어려움이 많을 것으로 예상되는 집단으로 사회적인 접촉을 회피하고 긴장, 불안, 우울을 경험하고 있는 것으로 나타났고, 집단 익신경증적 집단)에서는 신체화 및 충동성이 문제가 될 수 있을 것으로 예상된다. 각 집단에 대해 고려해야 할 사항들 및 연구의 시사점, 제한점을 논의하였다. The purpose of this study was to classify subtypes of the Minnesota Mllltiphasic Persomanality Inventoy(MMPI) profiles far university student clients. The MMPI 13 scales(L,F,K and 10 clinical scale) from 156 university students seeking psychological services from a university persfmality assessment service were investigated using cluster analysis. Four group were identified. The 48 of 156 participants(31%) were classified as group 1 and were concerned about disclosing informatifm that might be socially undesirable. When they perceived that test feedback challenges their self-concepts, this group typically rejected or denied the importance of suck feedback. The 12 of participants(8%) were classifled as group 2. This group admitted to some problems and afeared to be in enough distres to be motivates for therapy, but was not lithely to trust therapist easily. F elevation of this group migllt indicate fragility and weak ego strength. The half of participants(50%) was classified as group 3 and didn't show elevated scare in any scale. This group was named 'normal-reactilnl group'. The 18 of participants(12%) were classified as group 4 and were of ten lacked psychological might. Group 4 might become quite defensive when their poblems attributed to psychological causes, reacting with denial and hostility. This group might ask in indirect ways that people see as'manipulative'. The implications and limitatifms of this study were discussed.

      • 배역 교환을 통한 성 역할 전복 : Caryl Churchill의 Cloud Nine을 중심으로

        Churchill, one of the socialistic feminist dramatists, attempts various experimental stages and dramatic techniques to develop her message. This paper traces Churchill's Cloud Nine, which shows maturity and perspective in the development of Churchill's craft, in the context of 'cross-casting' and 'doubling' of her dramatic techniques. In this play, she shows the inconformity between an actor's gender and role, and suggests that gender role is not biological factor but a product of social and cultural ideologies, by exchanging the sex of characters (cross-casting). In Act One, she shows several examples of cross-casting such as an actor playing the role of a woman, an actress playing the role of a man, and a white actor playing the role of a black man, etc. Through this technique, the audience recognizes the oppressed selves of characters. In Act Two, the characters of Act One are recasted (doubling) and described as liberated selves of characters through right-gendering and changing their clothes with one another. But now they are confused between the conventional role and the expectable role and are still searching for their own selves. With doubling and cross-casting to make intricate connections between different contexts, Cloud Nine reflects many possibilities inherent in the real world, and these possibilities subvert conventional ideas about the individuality or integrity of character. But she doesn't suggest any solution but just the possibility of change. Open-endedness makes the audience reflect on what they are seeing and rethink their established roles.
