        Endothelial Cells Isolated from the Bovine Corpus Luteum Synthesize Prostaglandin F<SUB>2α</SUB> Receptor

        The corpus luteum is a transient endocrine gland essential for regulation of the ovarian cycle as well as for establishing and maintaining pregnancy. Prostaglandin F2α (PGF) initiates functional and structural regression of the corpus luteum and therefore is an important regulator of the estrous cycle. It is a matter of debate whether the endothelial cells of the bovine corpus luteum express PGFR, the cognate receptor for PGF. Therefore, the aim of this study was to assess the expression of PGFR in bovine endothelial cells. Endothelial cells were isolated from the bovine corpus luteum of the mid?luteal stage using magnetic beads and cultured in vitro. We demonstrate that this isolation procedure generates a pure culture of endothelial cells as confirmed by synthesis of Factor VIII and lack of expression of 3β?hydroxysteroid dehydrogenase. By RT?PCR, Western blot and immunofluorescence analyses, we further show that the cultured endothelial cells produced PGFR. This model system can be utilized to provide an experimental system to investigate the role of PGF on endothelial cells during the reproductive cycle.

        변색 실활치에 대한 carbamide peroxide gel의 표백효과

        The bleaching of discolored nonvital teeth is conservative treatement that satisfy the cosmetic desire. The most common method for this treatement, walking bleaching, is using 30% hydrogen peroxide and sodium perborate. Many alternatives are suggested for preventing the external cervical root resorption that is the common complication of the nonvital teeth bleaching with 30% hydrogen peroxide. The same extent of oxidation reactions as that resulted by the bleaching with the application of 30% hydrogen peroxide and sodium perborate can also be acquired more safely by materials that contain 10% carbamide peroxide, used primarily for the bleaching of vital teeth. Therefore, this study was performed to evaluate the efficacy of 10% and 15% carbamide peroxide bleaching gel in nonvatal teeth bleaching. The internal bleaching of intentionally discolored teeth was performed in vitro with 10% carbamide peroxide (Group 1), 15% carbamide peroxide (Group 2), mixture of distilled water and sodium perborate (Group 3), and mixture of 30% hydrogen peroxide and sodium perborate (Group 4). The bleaching materials were refreshed following 3, 6, 9 and 12 days. To evaluate the bleaching effect, the color change of the crowns was measured at 1, 2, 3, 4, 7 and 15 days of bleaching using the colorimeter. The results were as follows : 1. L^* and ΔE^* values were increased with time in all bleaching agents(p<0.01). 2. There was no significant difference in L^* and ΔE^* value among bleaching agents. 3. Δ^* value higher than 3 was shown after 3 days of bleaching with 10% carbamide peroxide gel, 1 day with 15% carbamide peroxide gel, 4 days with mixture sodium perborate and distilled water and 4 days with mixture sodium perborate and 30% hydrogen peroxide, respectively. These results revealed that the use of 10% and 15% carbamide peroxide bleaching gel in non-vital teeth bleaching is as effective as mixture of distilled water and sodium perborate and mixture of 30% hydrogen peroxide and sodium perborate. Accordingly, carbamide peroxide could be used clinically to bleach discolored non-vital teeth.

        Basal cell carcinoma (BCC) is the most common human malignant neoplasm, accounting for 75% of all non-melanoma skin cancer. The incidence of BCC is strongly correlated with sun exposure as well as older age. Therefore, the vast majority of BCCs is observed in elderly patients on the sun-exposed skin of the head and neck with a frequency of more than 80%. BCC is very rare on sun-protected skin such as the perianal and genital regions and other etiologic factors must be considered in these cases. Although the pathogenesis of vulvar BCC is unclear, early diagnosis is very important. Because BCC in these areas sometimes seems innocuous, it is recommended that a biopsy of all suspect lesions be performed. We report a woman with BCC of the vulva treated with wide local resection and reviews the literatures on this subject.

        The purpose of this study is to provide domestic small and medium enterprises with effective ways of introducing and promoting design management, earnestly, as a key strategy for raising corporate competitiveness. For the purpose, this researcher discussed the management property of small and method and the necessity of promoting design management in small and medium enterprises, the introducing process and method and the necessity of promoting design management in small and medium enterprises. Then the researcher reviewed and analyzed existing empirical studies to know the current status of design introduction and design management promotion in domestic small and medium enterprises. Results of the study can be described as below. Prerequisite to the successful introduction by domestic small and medium enterprises of design management are three CEO determinations - the firm conviction in design efficacy, and the clear recognition of the existential value of design - and the establishment of at least five infrastructures - design organization, CDO, designers, design policy, and design strategy.

        This study was conducted to investigate the reference value of mercury (Hg) in liver and kidney of Korean population. The mercury concentration in 244 'sudden and unexpected death' autopsies (male: 180, female: 64) aged from 0 to87 years was analyzed. The concentration of mercury was measured by atomic absorption spec(Perkin -Elmer Model 5100) with mercury/hydride generating system (FIAS 400). The contents of mercury in liver and kidney fitted well the log-normal distribution rather than normal distribution. Geometric mean concentration of mercury in liver and kidney was 0.115 ㎍/g wet weight and 0.149 μg/g wet weight, respectively. Geometric mean concentration of mercury in female was higher than in male (p<0.01). The mercury content in liver and kidney increased with age up to the forties and slightly decreased there-after, The regression model of mercury deposit in liver and kidney by age was predicted as the following equation : Log KHg=-1.0576+0.0045·Age -0.0001·Age²+0.0873·Sex, Log KHg=-1.0576+0.0152·Age-0.0002·Age²+0.1935·Sex. The liver burden of mercury was estimated to be 158.3~161.3μg in male and 163.0-166.9 ㎍ in female. The kidney burden of mercury was estimated to be 42.0~42.9 ㎍ in male and 55.5 ∼57.1 μg in female.

      • 비소를 함유한 중금속슬러지 고화체의 미세구조적 분석

        Microstructural analyses of synthetic arsenic-containing heavy metal sludges solidified with Portland cement were performed. Heavy metal sludges containing 0.04M of cadmium, chromium, copper, lead, and arsenic were prepared by sodium hydroxide precipitation and successive vacuum filtration. The sludges mixed with cement were cured for 14 days. The solidified sample was characterized by 1)leaching test, 2)scanning eletron microscopy kand 3) X-ray diffractometry. Of the metals tested, only Pb concentration in the leachate exceeded the Korean regulatory limit. The level of lead in the leachate was as high as 10 times the regulatory limit. X-ray analysis suggested that the metal hydroxides might be present in comnplex or impure crystalline phases.

        Because of the progress of import liberalization and the rising labor cost, Korean kitchen ware are losing competitive power, like other industries in Korea. More and more the korean consumers are exposed to foreign products and various domestic brands which are competing indomestic kitchen were market. As a result, Korean firms face with more difficult situations. This situation requires Korean firms to adop different marketing strategies. It is necessary that the Korean ware firms adopt cosumer oriented marketing strategy. This study attempts to analize consumer behavior regarding kitchen ware. The main findings of research shows that consumer attitude is drastically changing. That is, there are clear difference between 20∼30 year old housewives and 40∼50 year old housewives in their attitude toward kitchen ware. ◁표 삽입▷ (원문을 참조하세요) The Younger consumers prefers kitchen ware made of stainless. And they prefer department stores, and other one-stop shoppings that have many items in one place. They acquire information from advertising and relatives. They are not so much concerned with high price and use import goods more than older generation. Accordingly, Marketing strategy of kitchen ware will have to decide which segment to target and focus on consumer oriented marketing in that target market.

      • 네마틱 액정셀의 배향막 제조 및 특성

        LC alignment layers were fabricated by spin­coated polyimide films and the characteristics of nematic liquid crystal cells were measured. The 3rd harmonic beam(λ=355 nm) of the Nd:YAG laser was used for photo­alignment method, and the soft velvet was used for rubbing. Orientational order of the LC molecules was measured for various cells with different rubbing strength parameters. For small values of the parameter the orientational order is increasing and the threshold voltage is decreasing to the increased value of the parameter, and both of them are saturated over the limited value. The measured value of orientational order shows that the rubbing method is more efficient than the photo-alignment method.

        본 논문에서는 다중사용자/다중경로 환경에서 다중반송파 CDMA 시스템의 오류확률을 해석적으로 구하고, 다중사용자, 다중반송파, 다중경로에 의한 간섭의 영향을 분석하였다. 또한, 다중반송파 시스템에 역상관 검출기(decorrelating detector)를 결합한 다중반송파/다중사용자/다중경로 결합 검출 방식을 제시하고 성능 및 역상관 과정에 의한 백색가우시안 잡음(AWGN)의 증가를 분석하였다. 제안한 결합 검출 방식의 오류 확률은 사용자 한 명만이 존재하는 경우의 이상적인 성능에 근접하였다. In this paper, the bit error ratio(BER) performance of multi-carrier CDMA system in multi-user/multi-path environment is analytically derived, and effect of interferences due to multi-user, multi-carrier, multi-path is analyzed. A multi-carrier/multi-user/multi-path joint detection scheme incorporating a decorrelating detector is proposed, and its performance as well as the enhancement of noise due to decorrelating process are analyzed BER of the proposed joint detection scheme is only slightly degraded compared to the ideal case of single user environment.

      • 더덕의 효율적인 재분화 및 뿌리발달

        더덕은 식용, 관상용, 생약재료로 쓰이는 방향성 식물이다. 본 연구는, 종자의 기내배양을 통하여 식물체 재분화와 뿌리발달을 실험했다. 종자의 발아는 GA_(3) 100 mg·L(-1)처리와 저온처리 시 매우 양호하였다. 더덕의 기내에서 shoot의 형성은 2 mg·L^(-1) BA, 2 mg·L(-1) NAA가 첨가된 MS 기본배지에서 가장 양호하였으며, 줄기의 절편체와 비교하여 잎 절편체에서 재분화가 잘되었다. 또한 뿌리의 발육은 계속적인 계대배양에 의해서 양호하였는데 shoot의 길이를 1 cm 정도 남긴 뿌리를 연속적으로 4회 계대배양에서 뿌리가 주근으로 발육하였으며 길이는 약 3 cm 및 직경은 0.5 cm의 정상적인 뿌리를 얻을 수 있었다. Codonopsis lanceolata is widely used as edibles, ornamental plant and crude drug material. This study was carried out to confirm the ratio of germination and efficient differentiation of shoot and root in vitro. The germination of Codonopsis lanceolata seed was excellent in the medium with GA_(3) 100 mg·L(-1) and chilling treatment. The shoot formation of Codonopsis lanceolata was good at the MS medium with 2 mg·L(-1) BA and 2 mg·L(-1) NAA. According to inoculum part, ratio of re-differentiation was higher from the leaf explant compared with the stem explant. For root development, successive subculture with 1 cm shoot of upper part from root was efficient. Roots of Codonopsis lanceolata cultured in vitro system was grown like normal root with length of 3 cm and thickness of 0.5 cm at the 4 successive subcultures.
