        The Influence of AH-26 and Zinc Oxide-Eugenol Root Canal Sealer on the Shear Bond Strength of Composite Resin to Dentin

        AH-26 근관실러가 상아질에 대한 복합레진의 전단결합강도에 미치는 영향을 평가하기 위하여 144개의 발거된 대구치를 실린더형의 몰드에 매식한 다음 치관부의 상아질 표면을 노출시킨 후 편평하게 연마하고 AH-26을 도포한 군, ZOE paste를 도포한 군 및 실러를 도포하지 않은 대조군으로 나누어 One-step 상아질 접착제를 처리한 후에 Charisma (Heraeus Kulzer, Germany) 복합레진을 적용하고 광중합시켰다. 시편을 분리하여 37℃ 항온조에 24시간 보관후 Instron test machine (Model 4202, Instron Corp., USA)을 이용하여 시편의 전단 결합 강도를 측정하고 one-way ANOVA 및 Tukey's studentized rank test로 통계 분석하였다. AH-26 근관실러로 처리한 군과 대조군은 ZOE 근관실러 처리군에 비해 유의하게 놓은 접착강도를 나타내었다 (p<0.05). AH-26 근관실러 처리군과 아무 처리하지 않은 대조군 사이에는 결합강도에 있어 유의한 차이를 나타내지 않았다 (p>0.05). 본 연구의 조건에서는 ZOE 근관실러는 상아질에 대한 복합레진의 전단결합강도를 저하시키는 반면 AH-26 근관실러는 유의한 영향을 미치지는 않는 것으로 보인다. 따라서 임상에서 근관실러로 AH-26을 사용한 근관충전 후에는 즉시 복합레진 코어를 해 주어도 결합력에 저해가 없을 것으로 여겨진다. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the influence of the AH-26 root canal sealer on the shear bond strength of composite resin to dentin. One hundred and forty four (144) extracted, sound human molars were used. After embedding in a cylindrical mold, the occlusal part of the anatomical crown was cut away and trimmed in order to create a flat dentin surface. The teeth were randomly divided into three groups; the AH-26 sealer was applied to the AH-26 group, and zinc-oxide eugenol (ZOE) paste was applied to the ZOE group. The dentin surface of the control group did not receive any sealer. A mount jig was placed against the surface of the teeth and the One-step dentin bonding agent was applied after acid etching. Charisma composite resin was packed into the mold and light cured. After polymerization, the alignment tube and mold were removed and the specimens were placed in distilled water at 37℃ for twenty four hours. The shear bond strength was measured by an Instron testing machine. The data for each group were subjected to one-way ANOVA and Tukey's studentized rank test so as to make comparisons between the groups. The AH-26 group and the control group showed significantly higher shear bond strength than the ZOE group (p<0.05). There were no significant differences between the AH-26 group and the control one (p>0.05). Under the conditions of this study, the AH-26 root canal sealer did not seem to affect the shear bond strength of the composite resin to dentin while the ZOE sealer did. Therefore, there may be no decrease in bond strength when the composite resin core is built up immediately after a canal filling with AH-26 as a root canal sealer.

        In order to develop a natural food preservative, root bark of Morus alba was extracted with ethanol and then bactericidal activity of the extract against microorganism was investigated. The stability for temperature, pH, storage conditions and metal ions of the extracted antimicrobial substance was investigated. The crude fat content of the extract from root bark of Morus alba was 62.9% and palmitic acid and stearic acid were pretty high in fatty acid composition. The extract from root bark of Morus alba had bactericidal activity against Gram positive bacteria such as Bacillus subtilis, and Staphylococcus aureus. While the extract had bacteriostatic activity against Gram negative bacteria such as Escherichia coli. The minimum bactericidal concentration(MBC) of the extract against B. subtilis and S. aureus was 32㎍/㎎ and 64㎍/㎎, respectively. The antimicrobial activity of the extract was stable by the change of pH, freezing and heat treatment. KCl, NaCl and MgCl_(2) didnot affect bactericidal activity of the extract from root bark of Morus alba but CaCl_(2) did negative affect bactericidal activity.

      • 천연식물 추출물의 항균성에 관한 연구

        In order to develop natural food preservatives, antimicrobial activity of extract from natural plants against food-borne pathogens and flood-related microorganisms was investigated. The ethanol extract from Salvia miltiorrhiza had strong growth inhibition activity against Gram-positive bacteria(MIC, 3.13∼50 ㎍/㎖) such as B. cereus, B. subtilis, L. monocytogenes, S. aureus, Sc. mutans. Among Gram-positive bacteria tested, Bacillus species was the most susceptible to the extracted substance. The antimicrobial activity of the ethanol extract from the sample was weak to Gram-negative bacteria and yeasts, for example MIC for Gram-negative bacteria and yeasts was 0.8 mg/㎖ and 0.4∼0.8 mg/㎖, respectively. The ethanol extract from the root bark of Morus alba had strong antimicrobial activity against Gram positive bacteria(MIC, 6.4∼19.2 ㎍/㎖)such as B. subtilis. B. cereus, L. monocytogenes and S. aureus. Especially, Bacillus species was the most susceptible to the extracted substance. The ethanol extract showed antimicrobial activity against Gram negative bacteria(MIC, 160∼1600 ㎍/㎖) and yeasts(MIC, 1600 ㎍/㎖) such as C. albicans, and S. acidifaeciens. The extract also showed growth inhibition against molds such as A. niger, A. parasiticus, A. versicolor and T. viride. The n-Hexane fraction from cinnamon bark(Cinnamomum cassia) showed the strongest antimicrobial activity on the growth of almost all submitted microorganisms. Specially, molds such as Aspergillus sp. Penicillium sp. were inhibited strongly The n-hexane fraction was further purified by silica gel and flash column chromatography. The strong antifungal activity was found in the fraction 2 and compound I at 7.24 and 3.1 ㎍ per disk, respectively. The purified compound I was analyzed and compared with authentic specimens by ^(1)H-NMR spectroscopy. On the basis of ^(1)H-NMR spectral data, compound I was identified as trans-cinnamaldehyde.

        This study was performed to investigate the biological activity-anticancer activity, thrombolytic activity, hypoglycemic activity-of Chicorium intybus and it was extracted with hot water, and then hot water extract was further fractionated into hexane and water. The anticancer effect of Chicorium intybus extracts against cancer cell line, human lung cancer(A549), human hepatocellular carcinoma(Hep3B), human normal lung cell(HEL299) was investigated. The growth of A549 inhibited over 50% all sample which concentration was 1.0g/L and Hep3B inhibited over 40% too. The thrombolytic activity enhanced more 2.33 times in hexane fraction that compared lysis zone (0.9cm) of control, plasmin 10unit. In hypoglycemic activity test, enzyme activity of α-glucosidase which mainly cause diabetes were most inhibited by hexane fraction and inhibition ratio in adding the water extracts, hexane fraction and aqueous fraction were scored 24.5%, 32.1%, 29.5%, respectively.

        Purpose of this study was to identify Influence of Taekwondo training to character building of pupil. To reach the purpose, 376 out of 400 pupils who participate in Taekwondo training were sampled from Susung gu area in Taegu. Questionnaire data were obtained from all subject by self-administration method. ANOVA was conducted to exam the study and SPSS/PC 10.0 program was used. Results of the analysis could be summarized as the following. First, Encouragement of parent is very affective for the Taekwondo training of pupil. Second, Character present no difference between gender. Third, 3rd grade pupils present high score in sense of stability and intellectual growth. Fourth, Length of training period affect to intellectual growth, The longer training, the higher intellectual growth. Fifth, The pupil who decided to training by himself present high score in sociality and behavior attitude. Sixth. Relation of gender, training and Characteristic present no difference in stability, intellectual growth, sociality and behavior attitude. Seventh, Relation of gender, participation inducement and Characteristic present no difference in stability, intellectual growth, sociality and behavior attitude. Eighth, In relation of gender, training intention and characteristic, Stability of the pupils who intent to training for future present high score than others. Ninth, In relation of grade, training inducement and characteristic, Stability, sociality and behavior attitude of pupils who decide to training by himself present high score than others. Tenth, In relation of grade, training intention and characteristic, stability, intellectual growth, sociality and behavior attitude of pupil who intend to participate in the future present high score than others.

      • 슬러지 특성을 고려한 정수장 배출수 처리시설의 설계탁도 결정

        of these solid residuals depends on the raw water quality, dosage of chemicals used, performance of treatment process, methods of sludge removal and backwash frequency. One of the most difficult task in planning and designing a residuals treatment process is determining the amount of materials to be handled. Bansong water treatment plant were chosen as a model plant in this study and its raw water quality and sludge production were investigated. Turbidity of raw water fluctuated significantly with change of season. It went up to 400 NTU in rainy summer season while it was 10~20 NTU in the other seasons. The relative frequency distribution of turbidity was highly skewed to the right. The SS/turbidity ratio was about 0.9, which is smaller than 1.4 being used popularly in Korea. The weight of sludge produced during the high turbidity increased substantially and its settling property was also greatly i Most conventional water treatment plants produce two major residuals-residuals from the sedimentation basin and residuals from backwashing a filter. The quantity and quality mproved, resulting in production of highly concentrated sludge. These results indicated that the volume of sludge produced during high turbidity may be similar to that of average turbidity. As a result, it was proposed that the average turbidity of three years should be used as a design criteria to estimate the sludge production in planning and designing a sludge treatment plants.

      • Purification and Identification of Antifungal Components of Ethanol Extract From Cinnamomi Cortex : Cinnamomum cassia Blume

        Antimicrobial activity of ethanol extract from Cinnamomi Cortex (Cinnamomum cassia Blume) against food-borne pathogens and food-related microorganisms was investigated using a paper disk method. The results indicated that ethanol extract from Cinnamomi Cortex had antifungal activity against Aspergillus oryzae and Candida albicans at 210.5 and 421㎍ per disk, respectively. This ethanol extract from Cinnamomi Cortex was fractionated by solvents such as n-hexane, chloroform, ethyl acetate, n-butanol, and water. Among these fractions, n-hexane fraction showed the highest antifungal activity against fungi such as A. oryzae at 61.5㎍ per disk. The n-hexane fraction was further purified by silica gel and flash column chromatography. The strong antifungal activity was found in the fraction 2 and compound I at 7.24 and 3.1㎍ per disk, respectively. The Purified compound I was analyzed and compared with authentic specimens by ^(1)H-NMR spectroscopy. On the basis of ^(1)H-NMR spectral data, compound I was identified as tracts-cinnamaldehyde.

        본 연구에서는 생리활성물질을 생성하는 해양미생물을 분리하기 위하여 연근해역의 해면을 조사하였다. 해면 중의 미생물은 1.2×10~2.1X10^3/g 범위에 있었고, 이들 중 방선균은 0.Ol~O.5%(data 생략)로 나타났다. 분리된 미생물은 각각 배양하여 항균물질을 검토하였으며, 검토하던 중에 비교적 강한 항균물질을 생산하는 균주 No. 101을 분리, 선발하였다. 선발된 균의 특징은 sclerotia로 형태가 다양하였고, 다양한 배지에서 생육이 가능하였고, 기균사의 색깔은 회백색, 배면의 색깔은 주로 회백색에서 갈색으로 나타났으며, 젤라틴 액화능과 전분 분해능을 가지나 myo-inositol은 이용하지 못하였다. 이 균의 배양학적 특성은 최적 pH 및 온도가 6.5~7.0 및 30℃였으며, 탄소원으로는 starch가 30g/l, 질소원으로는 casamino acid 10g/l가 적합한 것으로 나타났다. 방선균 No. 101의 균체 및 균배양액의 추출물에 대한 항균 및 항진균성에서는 Staphyloccus aureus와 Bacillus subtilis에서 강한 항균력을, 효모와 곰팡이에 대하여는 낮은 항진균성을 나타내었다. Marine organisms were investigated to identify the marine actinomycetes that produced noble bioactive compounds. Microorganism counts range from 2.1×10^3 to 1.2×10 CFU/g of marine organisms. Actinomycetes constituted 0.01 to 0.5% of culturable microbial community. We identified the marine actinomycetes that produced novel bioactive compounds. During the course of screening for bioactives from the marine microorganisms, we found that the strain in sponge had antimicrobial activities. From the morphological, cultural and various physiological characteristics, this strain was identified for Actinomycetes No. 101. The optimal compositions of culture medium for Actinomycetes No. 101 were starch 30g/l as carbon source, casamino acid l0g/l as nitrogen source. The optimal pH of medium and fermentation temperature were 6.5~7.0 and 30℃, respectively. Fermentation has been conducted in the marine broth at 30℃ for 72 hour. The yield of fermentation got about 3g as dry weight(per liter of broth). The distribution of antimicrobial activity of Actinomycetes No. 101 was screened by paper disc. The extract of cultured cell and broth inhibited the growth of Staphylococcus aureus and Bacillus subtilis, but the inhibition action was week against yeast and mold.

        We hereupon present a case of injured temporomandibular joint (TMJ) associated with fluoxetine monotherapy-inducedrepeated yawning. Further information is needed regarding the relationship between fluoxetine administration and clinically significant yawning. Clinicians should be more careful to listen to their patients when they describe unexpected reactions to medications.

      • 해조류에 의한 발암성 니트로사민 생성인자 분해작용

        Nitrite plays an important role in the formation of carcinogenic nitrosamine. In order to effectively inhibit the formation of carcinogenic nitrosamine in food and biological systems, scavenging of residual nitrite is necessary. In screening test of nitrite scavenging effect of seaweed, the methanol extracts from Phaeophyta was more effective on the nitrite scavenging than those from Rhodophyta and Chlorophyta. Among the brown algae family, Laminariaceae, E. cava and E. stolonifera that belong to genus Ecklonia showed a marked nitrite scavenging effect at pH 1.2 and 3.0. In order to separate the nitrite scavenger, methanol extract of E. stolonifera was divided into diethyl ether, ethyl acetate, chloroform and water extracts. The rates were especially high in ethyl acetate fraction as compared with other extract.
