The Spectroscopy and Micro-Structure of Eu3+ Ions Doped Double Perovskite Ba3Y2WO9
Huang, Yanlin,Seo, Hyo Jin The Electrochemical Society 2011 Journal of the Electrochemical Society Vol.158 No.7

Eu3+-doped red-emitting phosphors of double perovskite Ba3Y2WO9 were synthesized by the solid-state reaction. The phosphors were characterized by X-ray powder diffraction. The luminescence properties, e. g., the excitation and emission spectra, luminescence decay times and CIE coordinates were investigated. The phosphors can be efficiently excited by near UV light to realize an intense red luminescence corresponding to the electric dipole transition D-5(0) -> F-7(2) of Eu3+ ions. The double perovskite oxide was investigated by the site-selective emission spectra and the luminescence decay curves in the D-5(0) -> F-7(0) region using a pulsed, tunable, narrowband dye laser. It is suggested that Eu3+ ions have three different crystallographic sites in this host. The site assignments of Eu3+ ions were discussed on the base of both optical spectroscopy and structural analysis. This is helpful to understand the occupation of rare earth ions doped in this perovskite structure. (C) 2011 The Electrochemical Society. [DOI: 10.1149/1.3585838] All rights reserved.

The Luminescence Properties of Eu2+ Ions Doped in SrO-B2O3-Li2O Glasses and Glass-Ceramics
Yanlin Huang,Chuanfang Jiang,조은진,이호섭,장기완,이성수 한국물리학회 2008 THE JOURNAL OF THE KOREAN PHYSICAL SOCIETY Vol.53 No.4
Eu3+-doped-strontium-borate-lithium glasses with the composition 13.5SrCO3 : 83H3BO3 : 3Li2CO3 : 0.5Eu2O3 were prepared by using a quenching method. The glass-ceramic sample was obtained by annealing of the as-made glasses in air, which led to the glass matrix having bulk crystallinity and resulted in a mixture of poly-crystals. The luminescence optical properties, together with the optical absorption, XRD patterns and SEM micrograph, were investigated. The as-made glasses had two kinds of Eu ions, Eu2+ and Eu3+. Compared with the reported results for strontium borate glasses, the studied glasses had an enhanced Eu2+ emission. The re-crystallined glass-ceramics reduced almost all of the Eu3+ to Eu2+. Charge compensation is proposed to explain the reduction of Eu3+ ions to Eu2+ ions.
Novel yellow-emitting phosphors of Ca5M4(VO4)6 (M=Mg, Zn) with isolated VO4 tetrahedra.
Huang, Yanlin,Yu, Young Moon,Tsuboi, Taiju,Seo, Hyo Jin Optical Society of America 2012 Optics express Vol.20 No.4

The self-activated yellow-emitting phosphors of vanadates Ca5M4(VO4)6 (M = Mg, Zn) were synthesized via the solid-state reaction route. The formation of single phase compound with garnet structure was verified through X-ray diffraction (XRD) studies. The excitation and emission spectra and the thermal quenching of luminescence intensities were measured. The different luminescence properties of Ca5Mg4(VO4)6 and Ca5Zn4(VO4)6 phosphors were presented, e.g., the spectra shift, the luminescence lifetimes, the absolute quantum efficiency, the color coordinates and the Stokes shift. This deference was discussed on the base of the relationship between the micro-structure and the charge transfer transitions in [VO4]3- groups in the lattices. Ca5Mg4(VO4)6 could be suggested to be a potential yellow-emitting phosphor for the application on near-UV excited white LEDs.
