      • 5-Fluorouracil과 Epigallocatechin gallate가 인체 구강유상피암종세포에 미치는 항암효과에 관한 비교연구

        This study was carried out to develop antitumor agent which indicates weak side effects and strong antitumor activity. Also, the purpose of this research was to compare with the antitumor effects of 5-flurouracil(5-FU) and epigallocatechin gallate(EGCG) on cultured human oral epitheloid carcinoma cells. EGCG was reported to be the compound which indicates weak cytotoxicity against normal healthy cells such as C_3H_10T1/2 cells and inhibitory effects on the initation or promotion stage of chemical carcinogenesis is mammary gland, blood and mouse skin. Human oral epitheloid carcinoma cells (OCL 17) were cultured in RPMI-1640 media containing 10s% fetal bovine serum, antibiotic, and fungizone. The cells were treated with EGCG by dose dependent manner for 48 hrs under the same condition. The antitumor activity of 5-FU and EGCG in human oral epitheloid carcinoma cells was evaluated by 3-(4,5-dimethylthiazol-2-yl)-2,5-diphenyl- 2H-tetrazolium bromide (MTT) assay. Neutral red (NR) assay and sulforhodamine B protein (SRB) assay of colorimetric methods. The light microscopic study showed morphological of the treated cells. These result were obstained as follows; 1. EGCG showed the antitumor effects high cytotoxicity against cultured human oral epitheloid carcinoma cells. 2. EGCG showed more significantly inhibitort against cultured human oral epitheloid carcinoma cells than 5-FU. 3. EGCG observed more Morphological changes than 5-FU against cultured human oral epitheloid carcinoma cells. These resullts suggest that EGCG retains a potential antitumor activity.

        데페록사민 전처치가 토끼 심근경색 크기의 감소에 미치는 효과

        Background: Reperfusion of ischemic myocardium has been postulated to result in a specific oxygen radical mediated tissue injury. Iron may liberate during ischemia and we hypothesized that administration of the iron chelator, deferoxamine during ischemia would result in improved recovery after postischemic reperfusion. Purpose: To test whether iron-catalyzed processes contribute to myocardial necrosis during ischemia and reperfusion, deferoxamine was administered to block iron catalyzed hydroxyl radical formation in rabbits. Methods: Eleven rabbits were divided into two groups : control group (n=5) and deferoxamine pretreatment group (n=6). The left circumflex coronay artery was ligated for 30 minutes and reperfused for 180 minutes. Area at risk (AR) was measured by non-stained area with methylene blue injection into left atrium after left circumflex coronary artery ligation. Infarct size was measured by weighing after triphenyltetrazolium chloride staining. Heart rate was measured using electrocardiographic recording and systemic blood pressure was monitored by pressure transducer connected to the catheter in the left ventricle. Results: 1. There was no significant difference of heart rate and blood pressure in deferoxamine pretreatment group compared with control group. 2. There was significant decrease of serum iron concentration after continuous infusion of deferoxamine compared with serum iron concentration before ligation of coronary artery(P<0.05). 3. There was no significant difference of area at risk between control and deferoxamine pretreatment group. 4. Area at necrosis to area at risk was significantly reduced in deferoxamine pretreatment group compared with control group(P<0.05). The results suggest that deferoxamine infusion prior to coronary artery occlusion has a significant benefit in reducing infarct size in this model.

        The human proteomics-based approaches, which examine the expressed proteins of a tissue or cell type, are increasingly being used. Venous occlusion is commonly employed for stimulating tissue-plasminogen activator (t-PA) and plasminogen activator inhibitor-1 (PAI-l) release from venous endothelial cells, and this has been regarded as a parameter of the individual fibrinolytic capacity of plasma. The present work involved a detailed investigation of the plasma proteome and fibrinolytic activity in normal subjects, with the aim of determining whether correlations exist between various parameters of the fibhnolytic system before and after venous occlusion. We analyzed fibhnolytic parameters and plasma proteome before and after 15-min periods of venous occlusion in the forearm in 10 healthy 3rd-decade volunteers. Proteome analysis was performed using two-dimensional gels. The tryptic digests of some proteins were confirmed by MALDI-TOF and the MS-Fit algorithm. The fibrinolytic response as measured by the absolute amount of t-PA after venous occlusion was increased by venous occlusion (5.5 vs 9.6 ng/㎗, p<0.05), as was PAI-l (46.8 vs 56.1 ng/㎗, p<0.05). However, two-dimensional electrophoresis finding was virtually nonspecific and inconsistent after venous occlusion in healthy male subjects. Venous occlusion does not influence plasma proteome in healthy males. Although the fibhnolytic response to venous occlusion is attributed to an increase in free tUPA antigen, this change is not correlated with plasma proteome.

      • 참깨 立枯性 病原菌에 관한 硏究

        Damping-off and wilting diseases in sesame plant(Sesamum indicum L.) occurring severely in Korea have been studied for incidences of disease from seeds, diseased plants and soils. Alternaria longissima, A. tenuis, Aspergillus. spp, Cephalosporium sp., Cuvuaria lunata, Drechslera sp.,sp., Fusarium equiseti, F. moniliforme, F. semitectum, F. solani, Mucor sp., Myrothecium roridum Penicillium spp., Phoma sp., Rhizopus sp., were saprophytic fungi and Alternaria sesami, A. sesamicola, Macrophomina phaseolina, Rhizoctonia solani were pathogenic fungi detected from 66 seed samples of sesame. Initial symptoms caused by pathogenic fungi on seedlings from naturally infected seed by the test tube agar method have been described and discussed. Except Alternaria sesamicola, A. tenuis and Macrophomina phaseolina, all fungi were completey wiped out the infection by pretreatment with Benlate-T. The pathogenic fungi isolated from sesame soil were Fusarium oxysporum and Rhizoctonia solani. F.oxysporum occurred less frequently in upland rice and ground nut soils than in sesame soil, but R. solani not decreased by upland rice and ground nut soils. The differences of the isolation frequency of F.oxysporum and the incidence of the wilting plants were found among the fields which varied in their cropping histories. F.oxysporum isolated most frequently from stems and roots of wilting sesame plants followed by R. solani. Nematodes also isolated from the wilting sesame plants.

      • 알코올 금단 발작 환자에서 진전 섬망 예방에 대한 Nimodipine과 Chlordiazepoxide의 효과 비교

        Background & objectives : An increase of calcium influx during alcohol withdrawal state may contribute to neuronal hyperexitability, which cause delirium tremens(DT). Some investigators have found calcium channel blockers effects in prevention of DT in experimental animals. Therefore we evaluated the preventive effects of calcium channel blocker(nimodipine) and benzodiazepine(chlordiazepoxide) on the development of DT in alcohol withdrawal seizure(AWS) patients. Method : A total 59 patients with AWS were divided into three groups according to the management nimodipine-treated, chlordiazepoxide-treated, and control(no specific medication) groups. We compared the incidence rates of DT in the three groups. Results : Total incidence rate of DT was 30.5%(18 of 59 patients). There were 6 DTs of 18 patients(33.5%) in nimodipine-treated group, 4 of 21 patients(22.5%) in chlordiazpoxide-treated group, and 8 of 20 patients(44.0%) in control. Conclusion : The control group(44.0%) showed the highest incidence rate of DT. And nimodipine-treated(33.5%) and chlordiazepoxide-treated group(22.5%) were followed. However, this result failed to demonstrated statistically significant differences due to small numbers size.

      • 濟州島 沿岸에 있어서 갈치채낚이 漁船의 水中騷音

        濟州道 北東海域인 33 40 N, 126 49 E를 中心으로 5海里 이내의 갈치 채낚이 漁場에서 5隻의 小型漁船에 대한 水中騷音을 測定 分析한 結果는 다음과 같다. 1. 漁船의 모든 機關을 停止하였을 때 測定海域의 操業水深 30m와 50m에서의 水中騷音의 音壓潗位는 周波數 200㎐에서 각각 46.4㏈, 43.6㏈, 500㎐에서 각각 39.7㏈, 37.1㏈이었다. 2. 發電機만을 稼動하여 集魚된 後의 操業水深 30m와 50m에서의 水中騷音의 音壓潗位는 周波數 200㎐때에 C漁船에서 각각 71.3㏈, 72.3㏈, D漁船에서 각각 75.1㏈, 78.2㏈, 周波數 500㎐때에 C漁船에서 각각 63.5㏈, 64.2㏈, D漁船에서 각각 62.5㏈, 65.5㏈이었다. 3. 漁船의 發電機만을 稼動하여 集魚된 後 操業중인 때의 갈치魚群이 集魚된 水深 50m의 音壓潗位가 水深 30m의 것보다 01.㏈ 3.1㏈가 높았는데 이는 魚群探知機에 集魚된 魚群의 映像과 比較하여 본 結果 集魚된 魚群이 있었던 것으로 推定된다.

        In the most cases we analyze a single time series without explicitly using information contained in the related time series In many forecasting situations, other events will systematically influence the series to be forecasted(the dependent variables), and therefore, there is need to go beyond a univariate forecasting model. Thus, we must build a forecasting model that incorporates more than one time series and introduces explicitly the dynamic characteristics of the system. Such a model in called a multiple time series model or transfer function model. The purpose of this study is to develop the stochastic stream water quality model of Puyea station in Keum river system. The performance of the multiplicative ARIMA model and the multiple input-single output transfer function model were examined through comparisons between the historical and generated monthly dissolved oxygen series. The result reveal that the multiple input-single output model lead to teh improved accuracy.

        괴사를 동반한 특발성 위확장증

        Acute gastric dilatation without obstructive or organic disease is rare, but is possible after a gastric or an abdominal operation in cases of trauma, retroperitoneal hematoma, diabetic gastroparesis, hypoxemia, electrolyte imbalance, etc. However ischemic necrosis due to acute gastric dilatation is very rare and has been reported only in patients who has anorexia nervosa or overeat suddenly. If the distended stomach is not decompressed successfully by using a conservative method or if the process proceeds to ischemic necrosis, operative treatment is necessary. We experienced a case in which the stomach was acutely distended, and mutiple ischemic necroses had developed. The patient was a 27-year-old woman and had no specific underlying disease in her medical history. After overeating, the stomach was distended acutely. During the operation, mutiple ischemic necroses were found in the stomach. A total gastrectomy and Roux-en-Y esophagojejunostomy were performed.
