The oxidative coupling of methane (OCM) is one of the most important direct method to convert naturalgas into value added products. For thefirst time in literature mesoporous TiO2-rutile supported MnxOy-Na2WO4 catalyst was prepared, characterized and tested in the OCM. The activity parameters (X-CH4, SC2,Y-C2) did not change substantially during the reaction and they were mostly stable. The MnxOy-Na2WO4/mes-TiO2-rutile catalyst seems to have promising potential for the OCM. Moreover, when it iscompared with commercial TiO2-rutile and TiO2-anatase supported catalysts in literature, it can beconcluded that it is a candidate showing even better performance in the OCM.
The ecological consequences of ocean acidification are unclear due to varying physiological properties of macroalgae and species-specific responses. Therefore, in the present study, we used a laboratory culture experiment to analyse the eco-physiological responses of the Mediterranean subtidal red alga Peyssonnelia squamaria to CO2-induced lower pH. Our results showed an increase in the photosynthetic performance and growth rate of P. squamaria, despite the reduction in CaCO3 content in the low pH treatment. According to our results, we believe that samples exposed to elevated CO2 could be regulated own nitrogen metabolism to support increased growth rate and it may be down-regulated nitrate uptake. As a result, we hypothesize that P. squamaria may benefit from ocean acidification.
In the present study, the second-order elastic constants and the electronic band structures of the X2ScAl (x = Ir, Os, and Pt) compounds crystallized in the L21 phase were calculated separately by using the ab-initio density functional theory. According to the results for the second-order elastic constants, these compounds met the Born mechanical stability criteria. Also, according to the Pugh criteria, they were found to have a ductile structure and to show anisotropic behavior. The microhardneses of the compounds were between 2 and 14 GPa, and the highest hardness was found in the Ir2ScAl (14.290 GPa) compound. In addition, the energy band structures of these compounds were calculated, and the crystals were found to have a metallic bond structure. All the computed data were compared with previously calculated results obtained with different methods. According to the findings obtained in the present study, in terms of its mechanical and electronic behaviors, Ir2ScAl was found to have better physical properties than Os2ScAl and Pt2ScAl. The phonon dispersion curves and their corresponding total and projected densities of states were investigated for the first time by using a linear-response approach in the context of density functional perturbation theory. The frequencies of the optical phonon modes of all compounds at the Γ point were 4.767, 7.504 and 9.271 THz for Ir2ScAl, 2.761, 7.985 and 9.184 THz for Os2ScAl and 2.012, 5.6952 and 8.118 THz for Pt2ScAl. The heat capacity Cv at constant volume versus temperature was calculated using a quasi-harmonic approach and the results are discussed.
Metal/metal oxide nanostructures based reduced graphene oxide (LrGO-Ag, LrGO-Cu2O, LrGO-Ag-Cu2O) nanocomposites were obtained via green method using Cetraria islandica (L.) Ach. lichen extract. Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy, transmission electron microscopy (TEM), scanning electron microscope energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (SEM–EDX), ultraviolet-visible (UV-Vis) spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction (XRD) and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) were performed to analyze the prepared nanostructures. The results indicated that the nanocomposites were synthesized effectively and Ag-Cu2O nanoparticles with the mean diameter of 27nm were well dispersed on the LrGO. The conversion of methylene blue (MB) to Leuco Methylene Blue (LMB) and 4-Nitrophenol (4- NP) to 4-Aminophenol (4-AP) was performed by biosynthesized catalysts in the presence of NaBH4. The reaction rate of LrGO-Ag-Cu2O nanocomposite during 4-NP and MB reduction was found as 0.0026 s1 and 0.0497 s1, respectively. The LrGO-Ag-Cu2O nanocomposite showed superior catalytic performance for the reduction of both textile dyes.
Objectives: The aim of this study was to evaluate the effects of endodontic treatment on levels of substance P (SP) and calcitonin gene-related peptide (CGRP) in the saliva of patients with symptomatic apical periodontitis. Materials and Methods: Twelve patients with mandibular molars with symptomatic apical periodontitis were enrolled in this study. An initial saliva sample was collected just before administration of anesthesia for root canal treatment, which was performed at the first visit. A second saliva sample was collected at a control visit 1 week after treatment. Salivary SP and CGRP levels were evaluated quantitatively using biochemical assays. The data were analyzed using Pearson correlation analysis, the paired samples t-test, and the Mann-Whitney U test (p = 0.05). Results: The postoperative salivary level of SP was significantly lower than the preoperative level (p = 0.005). However, the postoperative salivary level of CGRP was similar to the preoperative level (p = 0.932). Visual analog scale (VAS) scores of patients' subjective pain were found to be positively correlated with salivary levels of SP (r = 0.421; p = 0.040). No statistically significant correlations were observed between salivary levels of CGRP and VAS scores for patients' subjective percussion tenderness (p = 0.533) or VAS scores for patients' subjective pain (p = 0.459). Conclusions: According to the results of the present study, salivary SP levels may be used as an objective indicator in the diagnosis and assessment of the degree of pain in endodontic diseases.
This study was planned to evaluate the effectiveness of acupuncture treatment for the treatment Bell's palsy sequelae. In this study, forty patients with Bell's palsy sequelae were randomly allocated to either the acupuncture or the control group. The clinical outcomes before and after treatment were assessed using the following assays: the facial nerve compound motor action potential and HouseeBrackmann (HB) and Sunnybrook (SB) grading scales. Agreement analysis was performed between the SB and HB grading scales. There was significant difference between pretreatment and posttreatment compound motor action potential values of the patients within the acupuncture group (p Z 0.036). In pretreatment and posttreatment SB and HB scores, significant differences within the two groups were observed. However, the significance level in the improvement rate in the acupuncture group was higher than that of the control group. General agreement between the SB and HB scores of groups was an acceptable value, and weighted agreement between the scales was a moderate agreement. In this study, we found that acupuncture treatment is effective in improving Bell's palsy sequelae. Acupuncture can be used as a safe method in the treatment of Bell's palsy sequelae.

The objective of this research was to investigate the effects microbial transglutaminase (m- TGs) on the physicochemical, microbial and sensory properties of kefir produced by using mix cow and soymilk. Kefir batches were prepared using 0, 0.5, 1 and 1.5 Units m-TGs for per g of milk protein. Adding m-TGs to milk caused an increase in the pH and viscosity and caused a decrease in titratable acidity and syneresis in the kefir samples. Total bacteria, lactobacilli and streptococci counts decreased, while yeast counts increased in all the samples during storage. Alcohols and acids compounds have increased in all the samples except in the control samples, while carbonyl compounds have decreased in all the samples during storage (1-30 d). The differences in the percentage of alcohols, carbonyl compounds and acids in total volatiles on the 1st and the 30th d of storage were observed at 8.47-23.52%, 6.94-25.46% and 59.64-63.69%, respectively. The consumer evaluation of the kefir samples showed that greater levels of acceptability were found for samples which had been added 1.5 U m-TGs for per g of milk protein.

Cultural heritage can be defined as the most important heritage which are abstract or concrete and left from ancient societies. Concrete heritage mostly include cities, monuments, statues and castles. On the other hand abstract heritage is about culture. The interaction between culture and development has complicated and dynamic structure. Culture is formed by beliefs, values, behaviours, traditions which affect the social life style of a society. Cultural heritage gains different experiences by interacting with other societies along with the modernization and urbanization. Thus conserving cultural heritage is vitally important. In this study the importance of conservation from different sides will be emphasised and concrete Byzantine Monuments in Mediterranean Region will be studied by the help of secondary data. In this context the monuments in Turkey are determined and Byzantine cultural heritage was analysed in the borders of Mediterranean Region. Besides the importance of cultural heritage for societies is emphasised, the ideas of local authorities, local people, and visitors‘ ideas about the cultural heritage sites are mentioned and finally some suggestions are made.
Pine sawdust, to which sulfuric acid was applied (APSD), was utilized as an inexpensive adsorbent to perform the batch adsorptive removal from a synthetic dye solution of Maxilon Red GRL (MR GRL). The activated adsorbent was characterized by the points of zero charge, FTIR, N2 adsorption-desorption, SEM, and SEM-EDX analyses. According to the removal results, the highest efficiency of the dye adsorption was reached at 180min. MR GRL removal of 99.35% was achieved using APSD under the optimum conditions (pH=5.7-6.0, temperature=298 K, dye concentration= 250mg/L, and adsorbent dosage=8 g/L). The Langmuir isotherm represents the best explanation model for the experimental data, which has the highest adsorption capacity of 312.5mg/g at 318 K. The compatibility of adsorption with the Langmuir isotherm showed that adsorption was reversible and physical. The other results obtained confirmed this situation. The kinetic research demonstrated that the sorption process was realized in accordance with the pseudo-second- order kinetic model. The thermodynamic parameters revealed that the MR GRL adsorption occurred spontaneously and was exothermic. The findings of the present research confirm that acid-activated pine sawdust may be utilized to remove MR GRL dye from aqueous solutions as a low-cost and efficient adsorbent.

Background and Objectives: The etiopathogenesis of coronary artery ectasia (CAE) is not known completely. In most of the cases, CAE is associated with atherosclerosis; however, isolated CAE has a nonatherosclerotic mechanism. The association between atherosclerotic coronary artery disease and apelin has been examined in previous studies. However, the role of plasma apelin in isolated coronary artery ectasia has not been studied. In this study, we investigated the relationship between plasma apelin levels and isolated coronary artery ectasia. Subjects and Methods: The study population included a total of 54 patients. Twenty-six patients had isolated CAE (53.6±8.1 years); 28 patients with normal coronary arteries (51.6±8.8 years) and with similar risk factors and demographic characteristics served as the control group. Apelin levels were measured using an enzyme-linked immunoassay kit. Results: Apelin level in the CAE group was significantly lower (apelin=0.181±0.159 ng/mL) than that in the control group (apelin=0.646±0.578 ng/mL) (p=0.033). Glucose, creatinine, total cholesterol, triglyceride, low density lipoprotein cholesterol, and high density lipoprotein cholesterol levels were not significantly different between the two groups. Conclusion: In this study, we showed that patients with isolated CAE have decreased plasma apelin levels compared with the control group. Based on the data, a relationship between plasma apelin and isolated CAE was determined.
