Condensable InP quantum dots solid
Mai Xuan Dung,Dao Duy Tung,Hyun-Dam Jeong 한국물리학회 2013 Current Applied Physics Vol.13 No.6
Colloidal thioacetic acid-capped InP quantum dots (InP-TAA QDs) and their spin coated-films have been examined in comparison with those of myristic acid-capped InP (InP-MA) QDs. While the QDs are far away from each other in the InP-MA QD films, even in a InP-MA QD film cured at 250 ℃, upon thermal annealing a film of InP-TAA QDs at 250 ℃, the indium thioacetate groups on the surfaces QDs likely condensed, thus resulting in the QD film that consists of individual and proximally packed InP QDs. The structures of the films of InP-MA QDs or InP-TAA QDs were characterized by means of TEM, XRD, and XPS. The current through the film of InP-TAA QDs cured at 250 ℃ was about 2-5 orders of magnitude higher than that of the film of InP-MA film annealed by the sample conditions. We, newly in this letter, define this kind of materials architecture as the condensable QDs solid concept.

Under the pressure of business competition and effectiveness, more and more organizations in the world are likely to apply modern software such as enterprise resource planning (ERP) which can help them to create better organizing practice, better managing capabilities of administrators, and better operations of personnel. In Vietnam, many firms are afraid to install it and the number of firms adopting this software is limited mainly due to the insufficient scientific evidence of the successful implementation of ERP. This study aims to identify and measure the factors influencing the successful implementation of ERP of firms in Vietnam. Qualitative research methodology combined with quantitative research methodology is used. The data are surveyed with 343 administrators of 45 organizations that have successfully deployed ERP in Ha Noi and Ho Chi Minh cities. Of these 19 were excluded from analyses due to unsatisfactory responses, and only 324 were used for statistical processing. The collected data were processed by using the SPSS software. The result of the study shows that there are six factors affecting the successful implementation of ERP of firms in Vietnam, (ranked in descending order of importance), they are top management commitment and support, business process re-engineering, user involvement, project management board, vendor support, and suitability of software and hardware.
Tuning optical properties of Si quantum dots by π-conjugated capping molecules.
Dung, Mai Xuan,Tung, Dao Duy,Jeong, Sohee,Jeong, Hyun-Dam Wiley-VCH 2013 Chemistry, an Asian journal Vol.8 No.3

The absorption and photoluminescence (PL) properties of silicon quantum dots (QDs) are greatly influenced by their size and surface chemistry. Herein, we examined the optical properties of three Si QDs with increasing σ-π conjugation length: octyl-, (trimethylsilyl)vinyl-, and 2-phenylvinyl-capped Si QDs. The PL photon energy obtained from as-prepared samples decreased by 0.1-0.3 eV, while the PL excitation (PLE) extended from 360 nm (octyl-capped Si QDs) to 400 nm (2-phenylvinyl-capped Si QDs). A vibrational PL feature was observed in all samples with an energy separation of about 0.1920.013 eV, which was explained based on electron-phonon coupling. After soft oxidization through drying, all samples showed blue PL with maxima at approximately 410 nm. A similar high-energy peak was observed with the bare Si QD sample. The changes in the optical properties of Si QDs were mainly explained by the formation of additional states arising from the strong σ-π conjugation and QD oxidation.

Among 90 Vietnamese medicinal plant extracts investigated for their antioxidant activity by DPPH assay at various concentrations from 10 - 100 ?g/mL, 67 showed an inhibition rate over 50% at 100 ?g/mL; 47 had greater than 50% inhibition at 50 ?g/mL; 17 showed over 50% inhibition at 25 ?g/mL. 8 extracts which exhibited strong inhibitory activity more than 50% inhibition at 10 ?g/mL were further tested for lipid peroxidation inhibition by TBA assay. They displayed activity with IC50 values from 30.6 to 158.9 ?g/mL. Until now, this is the first report on antioxidant activity of the female flower of Borassus flabellifer, and the stem of Combretum latifolium, Embelia ribes, Spatholobus parviflorus, and Tetrastigma erubescens. Fractionations of the EtOAc extract prepared from S. parviflorus led to the isolation of protocatechuic acid (1), ferulic acid (2), epicatechin (3), and gallic acid (4). These compounds showed significant DPPH inhibitory activity with IC50 values from 6.5 to 23.6 ?M.

Recycling biomass to cellulose aerogel (Cell-A) provides a promising approach to develop adsorbent materials for spilled-oil recovery. In this work, Cell-A was fabricated from Vietnamese water hyacinth via crosslinking methods using PVA as a crosslinker and freeze-drying process. Various cellulose to PVA ratios were investigated to obtain the optimal synthesis condition. The Cell-A was additionally modified by dip-coating in poly(dimethylsiloxane) (PDMS) and pyrolyzing to form PDMS-coated cellulose aerogels (Cell-AP) and carbon aerogels (CA), respectively. Results of the oil adsorption tests show that pyrolysis produced aerogels with greater adsorption capacity with an optimal mass ratio of 15 : 1 cellulose to PVA. Furthermore, the pseudo-second-order model was found to be more accurate than the pseudo-first-order model for the study of oil absorption kinetics. As a result, the modified cellulose aerogel is promising for replacing earth-unfriendly polymer-based oil sorbents due to their high oil absorption capacity.
