      • Research on the Efficiency and Influencing Factors of Korea's Foreign Direct Investment in RCEP Partners

        Wang Xin-Yue,Xi Chen,Li Chen,Qing Wang 한국무역학회 2022 Journal of Korea trade Vol.26 No.4

Purpose – In this paper, we, taking South Korea's foreign direct investment in RCEP partners as an example, will examine its investment efficiency in these countries and analyze the main influencing factors, making suggestions for further liberalizing and facilitating its investment in and even for promoting its trade and economic cooperation with them. Design/methodology – In this study, we look at the panel data of South Korea and the other 13 RCEP countries (Brunei excluded) from 2000 to 2019 and apply the stochastic frontier analysis to measure its foreign direct investment efficiency and explore the influencing factors in RCEP countries. We examine the investment potential of South Korea in these places. Findings – We find that South Korea's average investment efficiency in RCEP countries reached 0.62, indicating large investment potential. We also find that its investment efficiency in RCEP partners was heterogeneous. Our study reveals that South Korea’s foreign direct investment is significantly positively correlated with the market size and population of the two countries, as well as with whether the host country has a coastline and rich natural resources, while negatively with geographic distance. It shows that free trade agreements, economic freedom, and regulatory quality play significant roles in improving investment efficiency. Originality/value – Through theoretical and empirical analysis, we deal with the efficiency and influencing factors of South Korea's direct investment in RCEP partners, proposing new drivers for facilitating its trade and investment in these countries and comprehensively evaluating the efficiency and revealing the trend of its FDI in these countries. In this paper, we put forward a solid theoretical basis for empirical analysis of the future economic and trade development between South Korea and its RCEP partners and give objective insights for further improving its foreign direct investment efficiency and tapping its investment potential.

SMYD3-associated pathway is involved in the anti-tumor effects of sulforaphane on gastric carcinoma cells

        Qing-Qing Dong,Qiu-Tong Wang,Lei Wang,Ya-Xin Jiang,Mei-Ling Liu,Hai-Jie Hu,Yong Liu,Hao Zhou,Hong-Peng He,Tong-Cun Zhang,Xuegang Luo 한국식품과학회 2018 Food Science and Biotechnology Vol.27 No.4

Sulforaphane (SFN), a natural compound derived from cruciferous vegetables, has been proved to possess potent anti-cancer activity. SMYD3 is a histone methyltransferase which is closely related to the proliferation and migration of cancer cells. This study showed that SFN could dose-dependently induce cell cycle arrest, stimulate apoptosis, and inhibit proliferation and migration of gastric carcinoma cells. Accompanied with these anticancer effects, SMYD3 and its downstream genes, myosin regulatory light chain 9, and cysteine-rich angiogenic inducer 61, was downregulated by SFN. Furthermore, overexpression of SMYD3 via transfection could abolish the effects of SFN, suggesting that SMYD3 might be an important mediator of SFN. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first report describing the role of SMYD3 in the anti-cancer of SFN. These findings might throw light on the development of novel anti-cancer drugs and functional food using SFN-rich cruciferous vegetables.

      • Mechanical Effect of Pre-consolidation Pressure of Structural Behavior Soil

        ( Qing Wang ),( Qing-bo Yu ),( Tian-liang Yang ),( Xin-lei Huang ),( Xue-xin Yan ) 대한지질공학회 2019 대한지질공학회 학술발표회논문집 Vol.2019 No.2

Structural property of soil is a new concept studied in science and study of this issue is a new problem, which involves soil mechanical effect, mechanical variability, and engineering design. Soil such as saline soil, red soil, loess, Xiashu loess, soft soil, or solidified dredger fill, which had been studied in previous research by our research group, has high pre-consolidation pressure (Pc) and high over-consolidation ratio (OCR). Considering the needs of intensity determination in engineering design, soil structure force, structural strength and other issues of structural Soils were studied in this paper. By analyzing experimental data, affecting factors of pre-consolidation pressure (Pc) was discussed. A new cognition about pre-consolidation pressure (Pc), determination method of structural strength, and genetic mechanism of structural force were proposed in this paper. Soil mass structural behavior and the mechanical effect can be one of the important fields of soil structural quantitative research. • An Estimation Method of Consolidation and Settlement of Soil Mass in Dredger Fill Area Based on SBAS-InSAR

        ( Qing-bo Yu ),( Qing Wang ),( Xue-xin Yan ),( Tian-liang Yang ),( Meng Yao ),( Kai Zhou ),( Xin-lei Huang ),( Jian-ping Chen ) 대한지질공학회 2019 대한지질공학회 학술발표회논문집 Vol.2019 No.2

The land subsidence poses a nonnegligible threat to production and life, especially in dredger fill area. The essence of land subsidence is soil consolidation. Better evaluation of the degree of soil consolidation presents significant progress for predicting land subsidence. In this study, SBAS-InSAR was conducted to Chenjia town, the typical dredger fill area in Chongming East Shoal, Shanghai. SAR data and precise Orbit data were collected from the ESA satellite Sentinel-1 in recent 2 years with approximately one month intervals. the relationship curve of cumulative subsidence with time is obtained after processing. On this basis, the final settlement and soil consolidation can be estimated by applying the method proposed by Professor Huang Wenxi of China. The results show that: The subsidence rate is faster than 20 mm/a; The estimated final settlement is 26.6-52.9 mm, and the corresponding consolidation degree is 54.6 % on average; Soil mass has not yet been fully consolidated and it still takes a long time to achieve stability. In conclusion, the method proposed in this study can provide a clearer understanding of the consolidation degree, and a new reference for the evaluation and prevention of land subsidence. Future research will focus on longer monitoring time to enrich and improve the method. The Effect of Mn/Al Substitution on the Structural Stability and Magnetic Properties of Mn₃AlC

        Xin-You Wang,Ping-Zhan Si,Hui-Dong Qian,Yang Yang,Hong-Liang Ge,Jihoon Park,Xin-Qing Wang,Chul-Jin Choi 한국자기학회 2019 Journal of Magnetics Vol.24 No.1

The structural stability and magnetic properties of Mn3+xAl1-xC antiperovskite with varied Mn/Al substitution were studied systematically. Single phase Mn3+xAl1-xC alloys with antiperovskite structure were obtained in samples with x = −1/4, 0, 1/4, 1/2. An additional Mn23C₆ phase was precipitated from Mn3+xAl1-xC antiperovskite for x = 3/4 while Mn23C₆ phase was formed as major phase for x = 1. The mutual substitution of Mn and Al atoms has substantial effect on the Curie temperature and the saturation magnetization of the Mn3+xAl1-xC alloys. In comparison with the as-cast alloys, the as-annealed Mn3+xAl1-xC alloys exhibit reduced Mn/Al substitutions after high temperature homogenization, which enhances the ordering of Mn and Al atoms in the lattices. The Curie temperature of the homogenized Mn3+xAl1-xC increases with increasing Mn substitution to Al. The Mn₃AlC alloy shows the highest saturation magnetization among all samples with varied Mn/Al ratios. Most samples show zero coercivity and zero remanent magnetization. The maximum value of the magnetic entropy changes of Mn2.75Al1.25C at 285 K is 2.26 J/㎏ K in fields up to 3 T.

      • No Association Between the USP7 Gene Polymorphisms and Colorectal Cancer in the Chinese Han Population

        Li, Xin,Wang, Yang,Li, Xing-Wang,Liu, Bao-Cheng,Zhao, Qing-Zhu,Li, Wei-Dong,Chen, Shi-Qing,Huang, Xiao-Ye,Yang, Feng-Ping,Wang, Quan,Wang, Jin-Fen,Xiao, Yan-Zeng,Xu, Yi-Feng,Feng, Guo-Yin,Peng, Zhi-Ha Asian Pacific Journal of Cancer Prevention 2012 Asian Pacific journal of cancer prevention Vol.13 No.5

Colorectal cancer (CRC), now the third most common cancer across the world, is known to aggregate in families. USP7 is a very important protein with an important role in regulating the p53 pathway, which is critical for genomic stability and tumor suppression. We here genotyped eight SNPs within the USP7 gene and conducted a case-control study in 312 CRC patients and 270 healthy subjects in the Chinese Han population. No significant associations were found for any single SNP and CRC risk. Our data eliminate USP7 as a potential candidate gene towards for CRC in the Han Chinese population.

A small hairpin RNA targeting myeloid cell leukemia-1 enhances apoptosis in host macrophages infected with Mycobacterium tuberculosis

        Fei-yu Wang,Yu-qing Zhang,Xin-min Wang,Chan Wang,Xiao-fang Wang,Jiang-dong Wu,Fang Wu,Wan-jiang Zhang,Le Zhang 한국미생물학회 2016 The journal of microbiology Vol.54 No.4

Myeloid cell leukemia-1 (Mcl-1) plays an important role in various cell survival pathways. Some studies indicated that the expression of Mcl-1 was upregulated in host cells during infection with the virulent Mycobacterium tuberculosis strain, H37Rv. The present study was designed to investigate the effect of inhibiting Mcl-1 expression both in vivo and in vitro on apoptosis of host macrophages infected with M. tuberculosis using a small hairpin (sh)RNA. Mcl-1 expression was detected by the real time-polymerase chain reaction, western blotting, and immunohistochemistry. Flow cytometry and transmission electron microscopy were used to measure host macrophage apoptosis. We found elevated Mcl-1 levels in host macrophages infected with M. tuberculosis H37Rv. The expression of Mcl-1 was downregulated efficiently in H37Rv-infected host macrophages using shRNA. Knockdown of Mcl-1 enhanced the extent of apoptosis in H37Rv-infected host macrophages significantly. The increased apoptosis correlated with a decrease in M. tuberculosis colony forming units recovered from H37Rv-infected cells that were treated with Mcl-1-shRNA. Reducing Mcl-1 accumulation by shRNA also reduced accumulation of the anti-apoptotic gene, Bcl-2, and increased expression of the pro-apoptotic gene, Bax, in H37Rv-infected host macrophages. Our results showed that specific knockdown of Mcl-1 expression increased apoptosis of host macrophages significantly and decreased the intracellular survival of a virulent strain of M. tuberculosis. These data indicate that interference with Mcl-1 expression may provide a new avenue for tuberculosis therapy.

      • Prognostic Significance of Interactions Between ER Alpha and ER Beta and Lymph Node Status in Breast Cancer Cases

        Han, Shu-Jing,Guo, Qing-Qing,Wang, Ting,Wang, You-Xin,Zhang, Yu-Xiang,Liu, Fen,Luo, Yan-Xia,Zhang, Jie,Wang, You-Li,Yan, Yu-Xiang,Peng, Xiao-Xia,Ling, Rui,He, Yan Asian Pacific Journal of Cancer Prevention 2013 Asian Pacific journal of cancer prevention Vol.14 No.10

Objective: Both estrogen receptors, ER alpha ($ER{\alpha}$) and ER beta ($ER{\beta}$), are expressed in 50-70% of breast cancer cases. The role of $ER{\alpha}$ as a prognostic marker in breast cancer has been well established as its expression is negative correlated with tumor size and lymph node metastasis. $ER{\beta}$ is also a favorable prognostic predictor although this is less well documented than for $ER{\alpha}$. Materials and Methods: To explore whether ERs independently or together might influence clinical outcome in breast cancer, the correlation between the ERs with the clinicopathological features was analyzed in 84 patients. Results: $ER{\alpha}$ expression negatively correlated with tumor stage (r=-0.246, p=0.028) and tended to be negatively correlated with lymph node status (r=-0.156, p=0.168) and tumor size (r=-0.246, p=0.099). Also, $ER{\beta}$ was negatively correlated with nodal status (r=-0.243, p=0.028), as was coexpression of $ER{\alpha}$ and $ER{\beta}$ (p=0.043, OR=0.194, 95% CI= 0.040-0.953). Conclusion: Coexpression of ERs might serve as an indicator of good prognosis in breast cancer patients.

      • Prognostic Role of Hepatoma-derived Growth Factor in Solid Tumors of Eastern Asia: a Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis

        Bao, Ci-Hang,Liu, Kun,Wang, Xin-Tong,Ma, Wei,Wang, Jian-Bo,Wang, Cong,Jia, Yi-Bin,Wang, Na-Na,Tan, Bing-Xu,Song, Qing-Xu,Cheng, Yu-Feng Asian Pacific Journal of Cancer Prevention 2015 Asian Pacific journal of cancer prevention Vol.16 No.5

Hepatoma-derived growth factor (HDGF) is a novel jack-of-all-trades in cancer. Here we quantify the prognostic impact of this biomarker and assess how consistent is its expression in solid tumors. A comprehensive search strategy was used to search relevant literature updated on October 3, 2014 in PubMed, EMBASE and WEB of Science. Correlations between HDGF expression and clinicopathological features or cancer prognosis was analyzed. All pooled HRs or ORs were derived from random-effects models. Twenty-six studies, primarily in Eastern Asia, covering 2,803 patients were included in the analysis, all of them published during the past decade. We found that HDGF overexpression was significantly associated with overall survival (OS) ($HR_{OS}=2.35$, 95%CI=2.04-2.71, p<0.001) and disease free survival (DFS) ($HR_{DFS}=2.25$, 95%CI =1.81-2.79, p<0.001) in solid tumors, especially in non-small cell lung cancer, hepatocellular carcinoma and cholangiocarcinoma (CCA). Moreover, multivariate survival analysis showed that HDGF overexpression was an independent predictor of poor prognosis ($HR_{OS}=2.41$, 95%CI: 2.02-2.81, p<0.001; $HR_{DFS}=2.39$, 95%CI: 1.77-3.24, p<0.001). In addition, HDGF overexpression was significantly associated with tumor category (T3-4 versus T1-2, OR=2.12, 95%CI: 1.17-3.83, p=0.013) and lymph node status (N+ versus N-, OR=2.37, 95%CI: 1.31-4.29, p=0.03) in CCA. This study provides a comprehensive examination of the literature available on the association of HDGF overexpression with OS, DFS and some clinicopathological features in solid tumors. Meta-analysis results provide evidence that HDGF may be a new indicator of poor cancer prognosis. Considering the limitations of the eligible studies, other large-scale prospective trials must be conducted to clarify the prognostic value of HDGF in predicting cancer survival.
