Hepatitis B virus (HBV) genome P-encoded protein HBV DNA polymerase (Pol) has long been known as a reverse transcriptase during HBV replication. In this study, we investigated the impact of HBV Pol on host cellular processes, mainly apoptosis, and the underlying mechanisms. We showed a marked reduction in apoptotic rates in the HBV Pol-expressed HepG2 cells compared to controls. Moreover, a series of assays, i.e., yeast two-hybrid, GST pull-down, co-immunoprecipitation, and confocal laser scanning microscopy, identified the host factor eEF1A2 to be associated with HBV Pol. Furthermore, knockdown of eEF1A2 gene by siRNA abrogated the HBV Pol-mediated anti-apoptotic effect with apoptosis induced by endoplasmatic reticulum (ER) stress-inducer thapsigargin (TG), thus suggesting that the host factor eEF1A2 is essential for HBV Pol’s anti-apoptosis properties. Our findings have revealed a novel role for HBV Pol in its modulation of apoptosis through integrating with eEF1A2.

In this paper, cheap mineral materials were used as the base materials of lightweight porous ceramics prepared through foamimpregnation method. The effect of the sintering temperature on the properties of the prepared porous ceramics was studied. The porous ceramic was mainly composed of amorphous silicon oxide, crystalline cordierite and mullite phases, and a smallamount of alumina phase. As the sintering temperature increased, the porosity of porous ceramics gradually decreased from94% to 92%, and the bulk density increased from 0.173 gcm-3 at 1100 ℃ to 0.194 gcm-3 at 1200 ℃. The best sinteringtemperature was 1180 ℃. The porosity of the porous ceramics sintered at 1180 ℃ was 92.14%, the volume weight was 0.189gcm-3, the shrinkage rate was 15.80%, the compressive strength was 0.79 MPa, and the thermal conductivity was 0.295 Wm-1k-1. The lightweight porous ceramic has high porosity, low density and good thermal insulation, as well as low cost, having greatpotential for application in fields such as thermal insulation, adsorption, and environmental protection.

Intumescent flame retardant coating modified by aluminate coupling agent were prepared via sol-gel method using ammonium polyphosphate, polyacrylamide, aluminate coupling agent (ACA), and boron nitride (BN). The effect of modification of ACA on its flame retardant and characterization were preliminarily studied by cone calorimeter, scanning electron microscope, surface tensiometer and contact angle measurement. It is found that the addition of ACA can increase the expansion rate of carbon layer, and a stronger blocking effect can lead to a better property of flame retardant. The sample containing BN, after being modified by 3M NaOH and ACA, dramatically decreases heat release rate, especially reduce the peak heat release rate (pHRR) by 54% and total heat release by 16%, respectively. Moreover, the time to ignition was delayed by 175%. Through examining the residues and pyrolysis products of the coating samples, the mechanism of enhanced flame retardant that promotes the char-forming and heat barrier of the modification of ACA and BN is proposed. This work can offer a significant guide for further studying of ACA and modified BN on the flame retardant.
Visual Attention Model Based on Particle Filter

The visual attention mechanism includes 2 attention models, the bottom-up (B-U) and the top-down (T-D), the physiology of which have not yet been accurately described. In this paper, the visual attention mechanism is regarded as a Bayesian fusion process, and a visual attention model based on particle filter is proposed. Under certain particular assumed conditions, a calculation formula of Bayesian posterior probability is deduced. The visual attention fusion process based on the particle filter is realized through importance sampling, particle weight updating, and resampling, and visual attention is finally determined by the particle distribution state. The test results of multigroup images show that the calculation result of this model has better subjective and objective effects than that of other models.
Effect of Low Temperature Microwave Drying on Properties of Dyed Cashmere Fibers

A novel method of drying dyed cashmere fiber by low temperature microwave was proposed and investigated inthis paper, the effect of low temperature microwave drying on the properties of dyed cashmere fiber was characterized anddiscussed in details. The results showed that the mechanical properties of cashmere after vacuum microwave drying wereimproved, and the highest rise of elongation at break was more than 6 %. The directional friction effect was weakened, andthe maximum DFE loss was more than 40 % compared with that of steam-dried cashmere. The scales were damaged, whilemolecular structure and chemical bonds of cashmere fibers have not changed. Vacuum and microwave combined dryingmethod can dry dyed cashmere at low temperature quickly, which has considerable advantages compared with traditionaldrying, and shows great potential for eco-friendly production of cashmere.

Space-resolved vacuum ultraviolet (VUV) spectroscopy using a 3-m normal incidence spectrometeris utilized to measure the impurity emission profile in the edge and divertor plasmas of theLarge Helical Device (LHD). It measures the vertical profile of VUV lines emitted in the wavelengthrange of 300 − 3200 °A. CII, CIII, CIV, and CV lines emitted from carbon ions are successfully measured,and their ion temperatures are derived from the Doppler broadening. Vertical profiles ofthe emission intensity and the ion temperature are measured simultaneously for the CIV line. Theemission intensity profile, which has several peak structures, is reasonably explained by consideringthe relation between the C3+ ion distribution and the geometry used for the observations.

The extinction spectral properties based on localized surface plasmon resonance (LSPR) of the concentric dual-ring nanodisk (CDRN) structure are investigated by discrete dipole approximation (DDA) and plasmon hybridization theory. The CDRN nanostructure shows flexible tunable multipole resonances in the near-infrared regime and the coupled resonance wavelengths depend on the structural parameters of the nanostructure, which has great potential in multichannel LSPR-based bio-sensing applications.
Sequence Analysis of Mitochondrial Genome of Toxascaris leonina from a South China Tiger

Toxascaris leonina is a common parasitic nematode of wild mammals and has significant impacts on the protection of rare wild animals. To analyze population genetic characteristics of T. leonina from South China tiger, its mitochondrial (mt) genome was sequenced. Its complete circular mt genome was 14,277 bp in length, including 12 protein-coding genes, 22 tRNA genes, 2 rRNA genes, and 2 non-coding regions. The nucleotide composition was biased toward A and T. The most common start codon and stop codon were TTG and TAG, and 4 genes ended with an incomplete stop codon. There were 13 intergenic regions ranging 1 to 10 bp in size. Phylogenetically, T. leonina from a South China tiger was close to canine T. leonina. This study reports for the first time a complete mt genome sequence of T. leonina from the South China tiger, and provides a scientific basis for studying the genetic diversity of nematodes between different hosts.
Effect of Discharge Location on Temperature Distribution during Electrical Discharge Machining

The temperature field distribution has a dominant influence on machining efficiency and surface quality during electrical discharge machining (EDM). The discharge location is strongly related to temperature field distribution. Thus, the effect of discharge location on temperature distribution during EDM process should be illustrated to understand the mechanism of temperature field distribution. In this study, the thermal model for EDM process is established using ANSYS software to investigate the temperature field distribution. The model considers more realistic factors such as Gaussian distribution of heat flux, plasma channel radius, latent heat of melting, etc., to agree with actual machining situation. Numerical simulation analysis of the temperature distribution of the two consecutive spark discharges has been carried out considering the relative position relation of discharge location. Based on the numerical simulation, the effect of discharge location on the temperature distribution and material removal volume in pulse discharge process has been analyzed in detail.
