An improved hydrogen adsorption capacity of 0.5–0.6 wt% was obtained at room temperature and 10.0 MPa pressure for commercial MWNT sample by γ-ray irradiation, compared with 0.33 wt% of pristine MWNTs. The irradiation-induced defects in structure, which is favorable for hydrogen adsorption, were characterized by ESR spectrum, elemental analysis, and Raman spectrum. The results show that γ-ray irradiation increased the hydrogen adsorption capacity due to the increasing number of defects created by γ-photons, but would reach the maximum when defect concentration achieves saturation.

A continuous conversion process of rice starch hydrolysate to 2-keto-D-gluconic acid (2KGA) by Arthrobacter globiformis C224 was developed. Its feasibility for industrial application was also evaluated. Results showed that the initial cell concentration exceeding 1.25 g/L met the continuous 2KGA production at a stable dilution rate and media composition, while the dilution rate and feeding glucose concentration had a significant effect on 2KGA production performance. The optimal operating parameters were obtained as: 0.090/h of dilution rate and 171.0 g/L of feeding glucose concentration. Under these conditions, the steady state had a produced 2KGA concentration of 124.74 g/L, average volumetric productivity of 11.23 g/L/h,and yield of 0.97 g/g. In conclusion, continuous 2KGA production by the A. globiformis C224 strain would be a superior industrial process for the production of 2KGA in terms of its high 2KGA productivity and yield.

A new hopane type pentacyclic triterpenoid, 2-hydroxydiplopterol (1) has been isolated from the metabolites produced by the halotolerant fungal strain Aspergillus variecolor B-17. The structure of 1 was determined by spectroscopic methods and single crystal X-Ray diffraction analysis. 2-Hydroxydiplopterol (1) exhibited cytotoxicity against K562 cells with an IC50 value of 22 μM.
Turbulence-tolerant Manchester On-off Keying Transmission for Free-space Optical Communication

We propose a turbulence-tolerant Manchester on-off keying (M-OOK) transmission for free-space optical (FSO) communication. At the transmitter end, a M-OOK signal featuring a spectrum with lowfrequency components absent is modulated and transmitted into a turbulent channel. At the receiver end, a low-pass filter (LPF) -based adaptive-threshold decision (ATD) with LPF-extracted channelstate information (CSI) and a high-pass filter (HPF)-based fixed-threshold decision (FTD) are employed to compensate for the effects of turbulence, owing to the low-frequency spectral characteristics of the turbulent channel. The performance of LPF-based ATD and HPF-based FTD are evaluated for various cutoff frequencies for the LPF and HPF. Besides, the proposed M-OOK transmission is compared to conventional non-return-to-zero OOK (NRZ-OOK) for different data rates. The proposed technique is verified in simulation. The simulation results show that the proposed M-OOK detection with optimized cutoff frequencies of LPF and HPF has better bit-error-rate (BER) performance compared to NRZOOK, and it is close to the theoretical ATD with the knowledge of precise CSI under various degrees of turbulence effects.

Hereditary non-polyposis Colorectal Cancer (HNPCC) is an autosomal dominant inheritance syndrome. HNPCC is the most common hereditary variant of colorectal cancer (CRC), which accounts for 2-5% CRCs, mainly due to hMLH1 and hMSH2 mutations that impair DNA repair functions. Our study aimed to identify the patterns of hMSH2 and hMLH1 mutations in Chinese HNPCC patients. Ninety-eight unrelated families from China meeting Amsterdam or Bethesda criteria were included in our study. Germline mutations in MLH1 and MSH2 genes, located in the exons and the splice-site junctions, were screened in the 98 probands by direct sequencing. Eleven mutations were found in ten patients (11%), with six in MLH1 (54.5%) and five in MSH2 (45.5%) genes. One patient had mutations in both MLH1 and MSH2 genes. Three novel mutations in MLH1 gene (c.157_160delGAGG, c.2157dupT and c.-64G>T) were found for the first time, and one suspected hotspot in MSH2 (c.1168C>T) was revealed. Dyeability of Perilla Frutescens Extract

Perilla Frutescens, its scientific name being Perilla Frutescens L., is a leaf of a yearly-herbaceous-Lamiaceae plant called Beefsteak plant, and its shape is similar to the wild sesame leaf. The function of Perilla Frutescens includes removal of fever, perspiration, strengthening stomach, and detoxification, and by the recent study, it also shows it has anti-allergic, anticancer, anti-microbial properties. In this study, Perilla Frutescens was soaked and heated with distilled water, by the ratio of 1 to 10(water being the 10) to extract its pigment, and the extract was concentrated by vacuum evaporation. To evaluate the dyeing property of this Perilla Frutescens extract toward silk fabric, the fabrics were dyed in various conditions; varying concentration, temperature, and time of dyeing procedure. Thus, by this, this study aims to find the optimal condition of dyeing. To have the evaluation done in accuracy, K/S, color difference, color fastness, and antibiotic property of dyed fabrics were also checked. Nowadays, Korean products are prevailing all over the world. Especially in China they including cosmetics, clothes, etc. are very popular. But because of THAAD, China’s people can’t go or travel to Korea. Also they do not have a chance to buy Korean goods even though they like Korean products very much. So instead of travelling Korea, they usually make use of overseas direct buying with the booming in current online shopping. Ironically, in spite of bad conditions, they used to buy Korean cosmetics by way of “overseas direct buying” as a distribution channel. Therefore the revenue on Korean cosmetics is growing up more and more. At that point, this study focuses on the Effects of Website characteristics and Delivery Service Quality of Satisfaction and Repurchase Intention in Overseas Direct Online Shopping to buy Korean products by China’s people in China. To do this, first of all, we drived out the variables from previous studies and analyzed 272 collected data. The results of this study are as follows. First, Among the characteristics of the overseas direct purchase website, the security, convenience and information provided by the overseas direct purchase have already had a positive impact on the satisfaction. Second, The quality of the delivery service is composed of four factors: rapidity, reliability, intimacy and correctness. Third, The research results indicate that the satisfaction level has a positive impact on the re-purchase intention.

Nitrate pollution in wastewater has posed a threat to human health and the environment. Photocatalyticreduction is a promising technology to remove nitrate due to its high adaptability, low cost, and high efficiency. However, there is a great challenge to design photocatalyst with high nitrate reduction and highselectivity of nitrogen (N2) yield. In this study, a novel hollow-structured Pd/TiO2 (PHT1) photocatalyst issynthesized with large specific surface area (SBET) and pore volume, strong UV adsorption, high reductionpotential than nitrate to nitrite, high charge transfer rate, and low electron-hole recombination rate. PHT1 exhibits a superior photocatalytic activity on the removal of methyl orange and nitrate. In addition,PHT1 exhibits high N2 selectivity (>95 %). A lower pH can promote the reduction of nitrate and the selectivityof N2 by PHT1. Electrons (e-) and CO2– are the main active species for nitrate reduction with OH asauxiliary radicals. Three main pathways for nitrate reduction are proposed: i) the reaction with formicacid under acidic conditions; ii) the reduction by electrons and the loaded Pd of photocatalyst to captureelectrons to inhibit electron-hole recombination; iii) the reduction by CO2 – generated from formic acidoxidation by OH.
