        Review on State of Charge Estimation Methods for Li-Ion Batteries

        The state of charge (SOC) is an important parameter in a battery-management system (BMS), and is very significant for accurately estimating the SOC of a battery. Li-ion batteries boast of excellent performance, and can only remain at their best working state by means of accurate SOC estimation that gives full play to their performances and raises their economic benefits. This paper summarizes some measures taken in SOC estimation, including the discharge experiment method, the ampere-hour integral method, the open circuit voltage method, the Kalman filter method, the neural network method, and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS. The principles of the various SOC estimation methods are introduced, and their advantages and disadvantages, as well as the working conditions adopted during these methods, are discussed and analyzed.

        Enhanced photocatalytic mechanism of Ag<sub>3</sub>PO<sub>4</sub> nano-sheets using MS<sub>2</sub> (M = Mo, W)/rGO hybrids as co-catalysts for 4-nitrophenol degradation in water

        <P><B>Abstract</B></P> <P>A chemically modified Ag<SUB>3</SUB>PO<SUB>4</SUB>@MS<SUB>2</SUB>(M = Mo, W)/rGO composite was firstly synthesized via a liquid-exfoliation solvothermal method. The structure, morphology, optical properties and composition were characterized by X-ray diffraction, FT-IR spectroscopy, scanning electron microscopy, UV–vis diffuse reflectance spectra and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, respectively. The characterization results indicated that compact structure could be obtained by using this typical method due to in-situ chemical modification, which could also control the sizes of Ag<SUB>3</SUB>PO<SUB>4</SUB> nano-sheets by adding MS<SUB>2</SUB>/rGO hybrids. More importantly, the resultant Ag<SUB>3</SUB>PO<SUB>4</SUB>@MS<SUB>2</SUB>/rGO composite exhibited higher photocatalytic activity and stability toward the degradation of 4-nitrophenol than pure Ag<SUB>3</SUB>PO<SUB>4</SUB> under sunlight irradiation. The stable structure of Ag<SUB>3</SUB>PO<SUB>4</SUB>@MS<SUB>2</SUB>/rGO was closely related with Z-scheme electronic structure and electrical conductivity of MS<SUB>2</SUB>/rGO hybrids, leading to a higher consumption and transfer of photogenerated electrons. However, by controlling the amounts of MS<SUB>2</SUB>/rGO hybrids, more stable but lower photocatalytic activity composites could be obtained. Further analysis found that the holes and O<SUB>2</SUB> <SUP>−</SUP> were the main reactive species involved in the photocatalytic degradation of 4-nitrophenol. In addition, possible photocatalytic degradation pathways of 4-nitrophenol were also proposed based on the identified intermediates.         The Correlation between Thyrotropin and Dyslipidemia in a Population-based Study

        This study investigated the relationship between serum thyrotrophin levels and dyslipidemia in subclinical hypothyroid and euthyroid subjects. A total of 110 subjects with subclinical hypothyroidism and 1,240 euthyroid subjects enrolled in this study. Patients with subclinical hypothyroidism had significantly lower high density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C) levels than those who were euthyroid. The lipid profiles were each categorized and mean thyrotrophin levels were higher in subjects in the dyslipidemia subclasses than subjects in the normal subclasses. Thyrotrophin was positively associated with serum triglyceride and negatively associated with serum HDL-C in women. Thyrotrophin was also positively associated with total cholesterol (TC) in the overweight population along with TC and LDL-C in overweight women. In the euthyroid population, thyrotrophin was positively associated with TC in the overweight population. In conclusion, serum thyrotrophin was correlated with dyslipidemia in subclinical hypothyroid and euthyroid subjects; the correlation was independent of insulin sensitivity.

        Study on Components Durability Test Conditions Based on Combined Clustering and Markov Chain Method

        The process of obtaining durability test conditions of bus components is complicated. A way to build components durability test conditions based on driving cycle is proposed. Pure electric urban bus driving cycle in Xi \'an based on running data is constructed based on combined clustering and Markov chain method, and simulation model of pure electric urban bus is built. The load conditions of the motor output shaft are obtained through simulation and calculation based on load torque applied on the motor shaft from simulation results based on actual drive cycle. The damage calculation method of motor output shaft under different load is constructed according to the liner fatigue cumulative damage theory and the material S-N curve. The four-peak-valley rain-flow counting method is used to calculate the damage of motor output shaft and the corresponding cycle life of motor shaft under different load conditions is determined. The motor speed condition and torque condition corresponding to driving cycle with the shortest life are selected as the motor output shaft durability testcondition.

        fects of Dietary Soy Intake on Maternal Thyroid Functions and Serum Anti-Thyroperoxidase Antibody Level During Early Pregnancy

        Soy and its isoflavones have been suggested to suppress thyroperoxidase (TPO), induce goiter, inhibit deiodinase, and modulate immune functions. This study initially investigated the effects of dietary soy consumption on maternal thyroid functions and anti-TPO antibody (TPOAb) production during early pregnancy. Data were collected through questionnaire from 505 women enrolled during early pregnancy by random sampling in Shenyang, China. Based on soy intake frequency, the subjects were divided into three groups (frequent [three or more times per week], conventional [more than twice per month but less than three times per week], and occasional [two or fewer times per month]). Serum thyrotropin (TSH), free thyroxine (FT_4), and TPOAb were measured by chemiluminescence immunoassay. Additionally, the concentrations of two primary isoflavones (daidzein and genistein) and creatinine were assessed in the spot urine samples from representative subjects (about 20%) randomly selected from the three groups. The percentages of frequent, conventional, and occasional consumers were 18.6%, 62.6%, and 18.8%, respectively. No difference was found in age, medical records, family history of thyroid diseases, serum FT_4, TSH, and TPOAb levels, TPOAb-positive percentages, or prevalence of thyroid dysfunctions among the groups. Both urinary daidzein and genistein levels were significantly higher in the frequent consumers compared with the other two groups. No correlations were found between urinary isoflavone levels and serum FT_4 or TSH. Urinary isoflavone levels were not significantly different between TPOAb-positive and -negative women among the randomly selected representative subjects. On the whole, our findings suggest dietary soy consumption during early pregnancy is not associated with the development of thyroid dysfunction or autoimmunity.

        Ginsenoside Rg1 treatment protects against cognitive dysfunction via inhibiting PLC-CN-NFAT1 signaling in T2DM mice

        Background: As a complication of Type II Diabetes Mellitus (T2DM), the etiology, pathogenesis, and treatment of cognitive dysfunction are still undefined. Recent studies demonstrated that Ginsenoside Rg1 (Rg1) has promising neuroprotective properties, but the effect and mechanism in diabetes-associated cognitive dysfunction (DACD) deserve further investigation. Methods: After establishing the T2DM model with a high-fat diet and STZ intraperitoneal injection, Rg1 was given for 8 weeks. The behavior alterations and neuronal lesions were judged using the open field test (OFT) and Morris water maze (MWM), as well as HE and Nissl staining. The protein or mRNA changes of NOX2, p-PLC, TRPC6, CN, NFAT1, APP, BACE1, NCSTN, and Ab1-42 were investigated by immunoblot, immunofluorescence or qPCR. Commercial kits were used to evaluate the levels of IP3, DAG, and calcium ion (Ca<sup>2+</sup>) in brain tissues. Results: Rg1 therapy improved memory impairment and neuronal injury, decreased ROS, IP3, and DAG levels to revert Ca<sup>2+</sup> overload, downregulated the expressions of p-PLC, TRPC6, CN, and NFAT1 nuclear translocation, and alleviated Aβ deposition in T2DM mice. In addition, Rg1 therapy elevated the expression of PSD95 and SYN in T2DM mice, which in turn improved synaptic dysfunction. Conclusions: Rg1 therapy may improve neuronal injury and DACD via mediating PLC-CN-NFAT1 signal pathway to reduce Aβ generation in T2DM mice.

        Ginsenoside Rg1 alleviates A deposition by inhibiting NADPH oxidase 2 activation in APP/PS1 mice

        Background: Ginsenoside Rg1 (Rg1), an active ingredient in ginseng, may be a potential agent for thetreatment of Alzheimer’s disease (AD). However, the protective effect of Rg1 on neurodegeneration in ADand its mechanism of action are still incompletely understood. Methods: Wild type (WT) and APP/PS1 AD mice, from 6 to 9 months old, were used in the experiment. The open field test (OFT) and Morris water maze (MWM) were used to detect behavioral changes. Neuronal damage was assessed by hematoxylin and eosin (H&E) and Nissl staining. Immunofluorescence,western blotting, and quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction (q-PCR) were used toexamine postsynaptic density 95 (PSD95) expression, amyloid beta (Ab) deposition, Tau and phosphorylatedTau (p-Tau) expression, reactive oxygen species (ROS) production, and NAPDH oxidase 2(NOX2) expression. Results: Rg1 treatment for 12 weeks significantly ameliorated cognitive impairments and neuronaldamage and decreased the p-Tau level, amyloid precursor protein (APP) expression, and Ab generation inAPP/PS1 mice. Meanwhile, Rg1 treatment significantly decreased the ROS level and NOX2 expression inthe hippocampus and cortex of APP/PS1 mice. Conclusions: Rg1 alleviates cognitive impairments, neuronal damage, and reduce Ab deposition byinhibiting NOX2 activation in APP/PS1 mice.
