        The Ser/Thr protein kinase PrkC imprints phenotypic memory in <i>Bacillus anthracis</i> spores by phosphorylating the glycolytic enzyme enolase

        <P><I>Bacillus anthracis</I> is the causative agent of anthrax in humans, bovine, and other animals. <I>B. anthracis</I> pathogenesis requires differentiation of dormant spores into vegetative cells. The spores inherit cellular components as phenotypic memory from the parent cell, and this memory plays a critical role in facilitating the spores' revival. Because metabolism initiates at the beginning of spore germination, here we metabolically reprogrammed <I>B. anthracis</I> cells to understand the role of glycolytic enzymes in this process. We show that increased expression of enolase (Eno) in the sporulating mother cell decreases germination efficiency. Eno is phosphorylated by the conserved Ser/Thr protein kinase PrkC which decreases the catalytic activity of Eno. We found that phosphorylation also regulates Eno expression and localization, thereby controlling the overall spore germination process. Using MS analysis, we identified the sites of phosphorylation in Eno, and substitution(s) of selected phosphorylation sites helped establish the functional correlation between phosphorylation and Eno activity. We propose that PrkC-mediated regulation of Eno may help sporulating <I>B. anthracis</I> cells in adapting to nutrient deprivation. In summary, to the best of our knowledge, our study provides the first evidence that in sporulating <I>B. anthracis</I>, PrkC imprints phenotypic memory that facilitates the germination process.</P>

        In this paper, we investigate the ${\alpha}$-well-posedness and ${\alpha}$-L-well-posedness for a mixed vector quasivariational-like inequality using bifunctions. Some characterizations are derived for the above mentioned well-posedness concepts. The concepts of ${\alpha}$-well-posedness and ${\alpha}$-L-well-posedness in the generalized sense are also given and similar characterizations are derived.

        Design of Query Processing System to Retrieve Information from Social Network using NLP

        Social Network Aggregators are used to maintain and manage manifold accounts over multiple online social networks. Displaying the Activity feed for each social network on a common dashboard has been the status quo of social aggregators for long, however retrieving the desired data from various social networks is a major concern. A user inputs the query desiring the specific outcome from the social networks. Since the intention of the query is solely known by user, therefore the output of the query may not be as per user’s expectation unless the system considers ‘user-centric’ factors. Moreover, the quality of solution depends on these user-centric factors, the user inclination and the nature of the network as well. Thus, there is a need for a system that understands the user’s intent serving structured objects. Further, choosing the best execution and optimal ranking functions is also a high priority concern. The current work finds motivation from the above requirements and thus proposes the design of a query processing system to retrieve information from social network that extracts user’s intent from various social networks. For further improvements in the research the machine learning techniques are incorporated such as Latent Dirichlet Algorithm (LDA) and Ranking Algorithm to improve the query results and fetch the information using data mining techniques.The proposed framework uniquely contributes a user-centric query retrieval model based on natural language and it is worth mentioning that the proposed framework is efficient when compared on temporal metrics. The proposed Query Processing System to Retrieve Information from Social Network (QPSSN) will increase the discoverability of the user, helps the businesses to collaboratively execute promotions, determine new networks and people. It is an innovative approach to investigate the new aspects of social network. The proposed model offers a significant breakthrough scoring up to precision and recall respectively.

        Cross domain analyzer to acquire review proficiency in big data

        Sentiment analysis is the pre-eminent technology for extracting relevant information in the data domain. In this paper, a cross-domain sentimental classification approach, the cross-domain analyzer (CDA), is proposed, which will extract positive words and replace their synonyms to escalate polarity. Additionally, the approach blends two different domains and detects all self-sufficient words. This is executed on Amazon datasets, in which two different domains are trained to analyze the sentiments of the reviews in the other domain. The proposed approach contributes promising results in the cross-domain analysis, and an accuracy of 92% is achieved. In BOMEST, the CDA improves precision and recall by 16% and 7%, respectively.

      • 雄性不稔을 利用한 水稻 雜種品種 開發 : I. Hybrids utilized chinese CGMS I. 中共의 CGMS를 利用하는 雜種品種

        中共의 CGMS(細胞質-遺傳子的雄性不稔)을 利用한 雜種品種을 開發하기 爲하여 1982, 1983 兩年間 雜種品種의 收量性을 檢討하는 한편 韓國品種을 中共의 CGMS母本에 交配하여 그 F₁의 稔性을 檢定하고 MS維持系統을 2~4回 backcross하여 CGMS系統을 育成하였다. 그 結果를 要約하면 다음과 같다. 1. 雜種의 收量은 多收性標準品種에 比하여 4.6~24.3% 增收되며 組合에 따라 年次에 따라 環境에 따라 變異가 甚하였다. 收量의 雜種强勢現象은 主로 穗當粒數와 千粒重의 雜種强勢로 表現되었으며 穗數와 稔實率은 雜種에서 減收의 方向으로 作用하였다. 2. 稔性回復親의 收量性으로 그 回復親과의 雜種의 收量性을 推測할 수 없었으며 이러한 組合別 特異性은 出穗日數에서도 認定할 수 있었다. 3. V20A, V41A, Z97A 3個의 CGMS系統을 써서 24個의 維持系統과 30個의 稔性回復系統을 檢定하였다. 4. 本 硏究에서 供試된 中共의 CGMS系統 V20A, V41A 및 Z97A는 同一品種이 共通으로 維持系統 또는 稔性回復系統으로 될 수 있었음에 비추어 보아 3가지 MS系統이 다같은 體系의 MS라고 判斷된다. 5. 6個의 찰벼系統과 7個의 메벼系統을 2~4回 backcross해서 CGMS系統을 育成하였다. This paper reports the results of the studies on (1) the scope of the yield heterosis of the hybrids facilitated by the Chinese Cytoplasmic-Genetic Male Sterility (CGMS), (2) the fertility responses of the Korean cultivars and breeding materials in the hybrids crossed with Chinese CGMS and (3) the progress of breeding CGMS lines utilized by the Chinese CGMS. The results are summarized as follows: 1. Though the variations were significant depending on the cross combinations, years and environments, the hybrids showed 4.6%-24.3% higher yield over the highest yielding check variety. Their yield heterosis were expressed through the increased number of grains per panicle and grain weight. 2. The yield and heading data of a hybrid were not able to directly estimate through its parents, implying the manifestation of specific combining ability. 3. Among the 86 cultivars and breeding lines tested for the grain fertility of their hybrids with the Chinese CGMS lines, V20A, V41A and Z97A, 24 of them showed nearly complete sterility and 30 of them showed nearly complete fertility. These will be utilized as a MS maintainer or as a fertility restorer. 4. Many cultivars and breeding lines tested here responded as a MS maintainer or as a fertility restorer common to all of three CGMS lines, implying that they belong to the same MS system. 5. Six of waxy and seven of non-waxy CGMS lines are being bred through the back-crosses 2-4 times to the Chinese CGMS lines.

      • OCT Findings in Patients With Recanalization of Organized Thrombi in Coronary Arteries

        Objectives: The purpose of this study was to determine the angiographic and optical coherence tomographic (OCT) characteristics of coronary lesions with recanalized thrombi. Background: Although spontaneous recanalization of thrombi has been reported pathologically, it is rarely recognized in clinical practice. Methods: Based on histopathologic features, recanalization of thrombi was defined by characteristics on OCT. Results: Recanalization of thrombi was identified in 6 patients (3 male, 3 female; median age 63 years; age range 54 to 72 years). Based on symptoms, 3 patients were diagnosed with unstable angina; 2 were diagnosed with stable angina; and 1, who had mitral stenosis and huge left atrial thrombi, was diagnosed with post-infarct angina. All had normal serum concentrations of cardiac markers at admission. Angiography showed irregular linear filling defects and haziness. Two patients with near total occlusion had Thrombolysis In Myocardial Infarction (TIMI) flow grade 1 and collaterals, whereas 4 patients had TIMI flow grade 3 and no collaterals. All patients showed OCT findings consistent with recanalized thrombi, which consisted of signal-rich, high backscattered septa that divided the lumen into multiple small cavities communicating with each other. These structures, which had smooth inner borders, created a ''Swiss cheese'' appearance. Percutaneous coronary intervention was performed in 5 patients with angiographic slow flow or inducible-ischemia as documented by invasive or noninvasive stress tests. The remaining 1 patient with restored coronary flow underwent mitral valve surgery and left atrial thrombectomy. Conclusions: OCT provided details on the characteristics of the organization of thrombi in both chronic total occlusion and subtotal narrowing. Coronary lesions containing recanalized thrombi were characterized by multiple small channels, with most showing functional significance.
