      • Wide Area Object Tracking using Multiple Cameras with Mixed Configuration of Over-lapping and Non-Overlapping FOV

Daw-Tung Lin,Kuan-Yu Wu 보안공학연구지원센터 2016 International Journal of Multimedia and Ubiquitous Vol.11 No.3

Seamless object tracking in wide area is an important and yet challenging issue of intelligent visual surveillance multi-camera collaboration tracking approach has been becoming attractive. In this work, a flexible and integrated system is constructed for object tracking using multiple cameras either with overlapping fields of views (FOVs), non-overlapping FOVs or mixed configurations for wide areas surveillance. The Kalman filter is applied for object tracking in a single camera and object motion prediction is implemented across blind regions for non-overlapping FOVs. Furthermore, a client and server architecture is constituted using TCP/IP network. The FOV lines are used to guide camera switching. In addition, we integrate various features for object matching. Finally, this system can track objects in a wide area no matter the FOVs are overlapping, non-overlapping or mixed situations.

Impact of Obesity on a Chinese Population with Erosive Esophagitis and Barrett`s Esophagus

        ( Shou-wu Lee ),( Han-chung Lien ),( Teng-yu Lee ),( Chun-fang Tung ),( Hong-zen Yeh ),( Chi-sen Chang ) 대한간학회 2017 Gut and Liver Vol.11 No.3

Background/Aims: The aim of this study was to investigate the associations between obesity and erosive esophagitis (EE) or Barrett`s esophagus (BE) in a Chinese population. Methods: Data from subjects were retrospectively collected from 2006 to 2009. Individuals with BE were identified and age- and sex-matched at a 1:2 ratio with normal esophagocardial junction and EE patients. The subjects were stratified into two groups: the normal weight group and overweight/ obesity group (body mass index ≥25 mg/m2) or the normal waist group and abdominal obesity group (waist circumference ≥90 cm for men and ≥80 cm for women). Results: Overall, 45%, 72%, and 52% were overweight/obese and 23%, 65%, and 18% had abdominal obesity in the normal, EE, and BE groups, respectively. Positive associations were identified between EE and overweight/obesity (odds ratio [OR], 3.14; 95% confidence interval [CI], 1.75 to 5.66) and abdominal obesity (OR, 6.22; 95% CI, 3.34 to 11.57); however, the associations were nonsignificant between BE and overweight/obesity (OR, 1.32; 95% CI, 0.67 to 2.61) or abdominal obesity (OR, 0.73; 95% CI, 0.31 to 1.73). Female BE patients had a significantly increased rate of being overweight/obese. Conclusions: Obesity is a contributing factor in EE. The association of BE and obesity was not significant, with the exception of female BE cases. (Gut Liver 2017;11:377-382)

Comparative Analysis of Logistic Regression, Support Vector Machine and Artificial Neural Network for the Differential Diagnosis of Benign and Malignant Solid Breast Tumors by the Use of Three-Dimensional Power Doppler Imaging

        Shou-Tung Chen,Yi-Hsuan Hsiao,Yu-Len Huang,Shou-Jen Kuo,Hsin-Shun Tseng,Hwa-Koon Wu,Dar-Ren Chen 대한영상의학회 2009 Korean Journal of Radiology Vol.10 No.5

Objective: Logistic regression analysis (LRA), Support Vector Machine (SVM) and a neural network (NN) are commonly used statistical models in computeraided diagnostic (CAD) systems for breast ultrasonography (US). The aim of this study was to clarify the diagnostic ability of the use of these statistical models for future applications of CAD systems, such as three-dimensional (3D) power Doppler imaging, vascularity evaluation and the differentiation of a solid mass. Materials and Methods: A database that contained 3D power Doppler imaging pairs of non-harmonic and tissue harmonic images for 97 benign and 86 malignant solid tumors was utilized. The virtual organ computer-aided analysis-imaging program was used to analyze the stored volumes of the 183 solid breast tumors. LRA, an SVM and NN were employed in comparative analyses for the characterization of benign and malignant solid breast masses from the database. Results: The values of area under receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve, referred to as Az values for the use of non-harmonic 3D power Doppler US with LRA, SVM and NN were 0.9341, 0.9185 and 0.9086, respectively. The Az values for the use of harmonic 3D power Doppler US with LRA, SVM and NN were 0.9286, 0.8979 and 0.9009, respectively. The Az values of six ROC curves for the use of LRA, SVM and NN for non-harmonic or harmonic 3D power Doppler imaging were similar. Conclusion: The diagnostic performances of these three models (LRA, SVM and NN) are not different as demonstrated by ROC curve analysis. Depending on user emphasis for the use of ROC curve findings, the use of LRA appears to provide better sensitivity as compared to the other statistical models. Synthesis of mesoporous SiO2 xerogel/chitosan mixed-matrix membranes for butanol dehydration

        Yi-Feng Lin,Chang-Yu Wu,Ting-Yu Liu,Kun-Yi Andrew Lin,Kuo-Lun Tung,Tsair-Wang Chung 한국공업화학회 2018 Journal of Industrial and Engineering Chemistry Vol.57 No.-

Novel mesoporous SiO2 xerogel/chitosan (CS) mixed-matrix membranes (MMMs) were successfully prepared by incorporating sol–gel synthesized SiO2 xerogels into glutaraldehyde (GA) cross-linked CS membranes. The effects of the SiO2 doping amount and the feed temperature on the performance of the separation of butanol and water was also investigated in this study. The 0.25 wt% SiO2 xerogel/CS MMMs possessed the best pervaporation performance and the largest PSI value of 1102 kg/m2h with a permeate flux of 736 g/m2h (Permeability of 3.25 × 10−5 g m m−2 h −1 Pa−1) and a separation factor of 1498 at a feed temperature of 50 °C. This PSI value is not only comparable but also exceeds that of other membranes reported in the literature. The separation factor and the flux of the SiO2 xerogel/CS MMMs in this study clearly exceed the upper limit of the previously reported MMMs. As a result, the as-prepared novel SiO2 xerogel/CS MMMs showed an improved performance during the butanol and water separation process, which raises the possibility of future pervaporation applications using this novel SiO2 xerogel/CS MMMs.

An Intelligent System for Business Data Mining

Shian Chang Huang,Tung Kuang Wu,Nan Yu Wang People&Global Business Association 2017 Global Business and Finance Review Vol.22 No.2

Mining high-dimensional business data is a challenging problem. Particularly in bankruptcy predictions, we need to analyze large amounts of information from financial statements and stock markets. This paper proposes a new strategy to deal with the problem. Because of the highly correlation among financial information, this study employed a technique called generalized discriminant analysis (GDA) to identify important features and reduce the data dimension. GDA is a nonlinear discriminant analysis using kernel function operator. It’s easy to deal with a wide class of nonlinearity in financial data, and can reduce the computational loading of subsequent prediction classifier. Due to the promising success of kernel machines in many applications, this study utilized a generalized multiple kernel machine (GMKM) to serve as the predictor. Combining the strengths of GDA and GMKM, our system robustly outperforms traditional prediction systems.

Metallic Stent Placement in Hemodialysis Graft Patients after Insufficient Balloon Dilation

        Huei-Lung Liang,Huay-Ben Pan,Yih-Huie Lin,Chiung-Yu Chen,Hsiao-Min Chung,Tung-Ho Wu,Kang-Ju Chou,Pin-Hong Lai,Chien-Fang Yang 대한영상의학회 2006 Korean Journal of Radiology Vol.7 No.2

Objective: We wanted to report our experience of metallic stent placement after insufficient balloon dilation in graft hemodialysis patients. Materials and Methods: Twenty-three patients (13 loop grafts in the forearm and 10 straight grafts in the upper arm) underwent metallic stent placement due to insufficient flow after urokinase thrombolysis and balloon dilation. The indications for metallic stent deployment included 1) recoil and/or kinked venous stenosis in 21 patients (venous anastomosis: 17 patients, peripheral outflow vein: four patients); and 2) major vascular rupture in two patients. Metallic stents 8 10mm in diameter and 40 80 mm in length were used. Of them, eight stents were deployed across the elbow crease. Access patency was determined by clinical follow-up and the overall rates were calculated by Kaplan-Meier survival analysis. Results: No procedure-related complications (stent fracture or central migration) were encountered except for a delayed Wallstent shortening/migration at the venous anastomosis, which resulted in early access failure. The overall primary and secondary patency rates ( standard error) of all the vascular accesses in our 23 patients at 3, 6, 12 and 24 months were 69% 9 and 88% 6, 41% 10 and 88% 6, 30% 10 and 77% 10, and 12% 8 and 61% 13, respectively. For the forearm and upper-arm grafts, the primary and secondary patency rates were 51% 16 and 86% 13 vs 45% 15 and 73% 13 at 6 months, and 25% 15 and 71% 17 vs 23% 17 and 73% 13 at 12 months (p = .346 and .224), respectively. Conclusion: Metallic stent placement is a safe and effective means for treating peripheral venous lesions in dialysis graft patients after insufficient balloon dilation. No statistically difference in the patency rates between the forearm and upper-arm patient groups was seen.
