Polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) has been widely used for the rapid prototyping of microfluidic devices for biosensor cartridges. However, using PDMS to prototype capillary-driven microfluidic devices is often limited by the difficulty of maintaining the surface energy of surface-treated PDMS for an extended period in addition to the degradation of the biosensing elements during the bonding process at elevated temperature. Herein, prototyping of a flexible capillary microfluidic channel (FCMC) device based on the room-temperature bonding of the surface energy-modified PDMS (m-PDMS) microfluidic channel and a thermoplastic lid, polymethylmethacrylate (PMMA), is introduced for prolonged control of passive liquid flow characteristics. The m-PDMS was fabricated by blending polydimethylsiloxane-ethylene oxide (60–70%) block copolymer (PDMS-b-PEO) additive with pre-PDMS, of which the water contact angles could be controlled between 38.5° and 78.5° by adjusting the ratio of the two components. Room-temperature bonding of the m-PDMS and PMMA sheets functionalized by 3-glycidoxypropyltrimethoxysilane and aminopropyltriethoxysilane, respectively, was introduced to fabricate the FCMC devices via the formation of a stable linker epoxy-amine without the requirement of elevated temperatures. The FCMC device possessed longevity to passively drive liquid in the channel for 2 months under ambient conditions due to the prolonged stable hydrophilicity of m-PDMS. The proposed approaches provide great potential for prototyping passive microfluidic devices for biosensor cartridge applications.
Characterization of GaN thick layer grown by the HVPE: Comparison of horizontal with vertical growth
Lai, Van Thi Ha,Jung, Jin-Huyn,Oh, Dong-Keun,Choi, Bong-Geun,Eun, Jong-Won,Lim, Jee-Hun,Park, Ji-Eun,Lee, Seong-Kuk,Yi, Sung,Shim, Kwang-Bo The Korea Association of Crystal Growth 2008 韓國結晶成長學會誌 Vol.18 No.3
GaN films were grown on the vertical and horizontal reactors by the hydride vapour phase epitaxy (HVPE). The structural and optical characteristics of the GaN films were investigated depending on the reactor-type. GaN epilayers were characterized by double crystal X-ray diffraction (DC-XRD), transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and photoluminescence (PL). Surface defects of two kinds of the GaN films were revealed by the wet chemical etching method, using $H_3PO_4$ acid at $200^{\circ}C$ for 8 minutes. Hexagonal etch pits were analyzed by optical microscopy and SEM. Etch pit densities were calculated to be approximately $1.4{\times}10^7$ and $1.2{\times}10^6\;cm^{-2}$ for GaN layers grown on horizontal and vertical reactors, respectively. Those results show GaN grown in the vertical reactor having a better quality of optical properties and crystallinity than that in the horizontal reactor.

Evidence of Inflammation in Parkinson’s Disease and Its Contribution to Synucleinopathy
Thuy Thi Lai,김윤중,마효일,김영은 대한파킨슨병및이상운동질환학회 2022 Journal Of Movement Disorders Vol.15 No.1
Accumulation of alpha-synuclein (αSyn) protein in neurons is a renowned pathological hallmark of Parkinson’s disease (PD). In addition, accumulating evidence indicates that activated inflammatory responses are involved in the pathogenesis of PD. Thus, achieving a better understanding of the interaction between inflammation and synucleinopathy in relation to the PD process will facilitate the development of promising disease-modifying therapies. In this review, the evidence of inflammation in PD is discussed, and human, animal, and laboratory studies relevant to the relationship between inflammation and αSyn are explored as well as new therapeutic targets associated with this relationship.
Convergence Strategy VAS with IAS/IFRS to Fit International Business and Economy
Pham,Thi Lai 한국유통과학회 2019 KODISA ICBE (International Conference on Business Vol.2019 No.-
Vietnam has been taking active steps and is also in the process of international economic integration requiring our country to have a set of high quality accounting standards consistent with the International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS), which means to shorten the gap between Vietnamese Accounting Standards (VAS) and International Accounting Standards (IAS). The shortening of the gap will make Vietnamese businesses enhance their financial transparencies and boost their financial risk managements in order to manage their assets more effectively. However, in the current context of Vietnam, the convergence of Vietnamese Accounting Standards and International Financial Reporting Standards is not easy and faces many difficulties. Therefore, Vietnam needs a convergence strategy as well as an appropriate guideline that will bridge the gap between VAS and IFRS to gradually improve the national image on the international stage.

Information extraction automatically obtains structured information from unstructured or semi-structured machine-readable documents. The extraction steps consist mainly of classifying words (tagging). The output can be stored as key-value pairs in a computer-friendly file format, and then stored in a database for later reference. Information extraction from receipts or invoices is a difficult task because the tagging step should not be done solely on machine-readable words. Also, we obtain layout information or positions of words relative to other words in the invoices or receipts. This study deployed optical character recognition solutions for the Vietnamese language (VietOCR) combining a graph convolutional network (GCN) to extract information from 731 Vietnamese invoices issued by several stores. First, we collected invoice images captured with smartphones from supermarkets in Vietnam. Then, with those images we proceeded with text detection and recognition, then feature processing. The dataset was classified into two parts for training and testing, and we executed classification tasks with two GCNs. Experimental results revealed that our proposed method reached 99.50%, 98.52%, 98.52%, and 98.52% for accuracy, recall, precision, and F1-score, respectively. This work is expected to prove useful for information extraction from image-based documents.
Appropriate Technology for the Paper Recycling: A New Paradigm
Vu, Hong Ha Thi,Lai, Tuan Quang,Ahn, Ji Whan The Korean Society for Energy 2018 에너지공학 Vol.27 No.2
Every day a huge amount of paper is being used, most of them are thrown after using. This directly impacts on the environment. Therefore, waste paper management is necessity to protect the environment from its annihilation and pollution. Paper recycling products consist of printing paper, newspaper, corrugated containers, magazine paper and so on. Reuse waste paper will reduce the consumption of wood and virgin pulp as recycling one ton of newsprint can save approximately 1 ton of wood, meanwhile recycling 1 ton of printing paper can save more than 2 tons of wood. With increasing recycling rates, lower quality paper fractions may be included. Thus the selection of a paper recycling technology is a crucial first design consideration. The paper recycling must be accompanied by appropriate technology to manage a huge volume of wastepaper. The specific objectives of this study were as follows: (1) comprehensive literature reviews of paper production and consumption, (2) figure out about paper recovery and utilization, (3) investigate the paper recycling in the sustainable times, (4) introduce eco-friendly recycling technology to paper industry.
