Terrestrial Application of Gasdynamic Mirror Fusion
이명재,정규선,Terry Kammash 한국물리학회 2004 THE JOURNAL OF THE KOREAN PHYSICAL SOCIETY Vol.44 No.52
Fusion gasdynamic mirror (GDM) concepts have been previously proposed and explored for space propulsion systems. The GDM is a device with a very large aspect ratio which connes a hot plasma long enough to generate fusion energy. By noting that the connement of a GDM is governed by gas dynamic laws and using an appropriate set of particle and energy balance equations for the D-T fuels and reaction products, the GDM plasma has been shown to be able to obtain a large fusion gain factor Q (ratio of fusion power to injected power) not attainable with traditional mirror fusion reactors. For an example, the GDM has been shown to have a capability of producing a Q value of 30 for a reasonable plasma length of 30 meters with an injection energy of 20 keV and a mirror ratio of 50. In this case, the steady-state ion density and temperature have been found to be 1.6 1017 cm
