This study emphasis on a novel fabrication technique to fabricate hybrid cermets using Al 6061 alloy with nano sized SiC,Al2O3 and TiO2 as reinforcements. During the fabrication process, the melted pool was ultrasonicated to disperse nanoparticles at 20 kHz for 5 min and pressure of 50 MPa was applied to eliminate voids. The infuence of nanoparticles on physical, thermal and mechanical properties were evaluated by tensile, wear and thermal studies. Cermets with Al2O3 reinforcementsshowed higher mechanical performance compared to Al alloy. This enhancement could be related to the uniform distribution of Al2O3 with refnement in grain size of Al alloy which was observed via surface analysis. The morphological studiesprovided justifable evidence of homogeneous distribution, nominal cluster along with agglomeration and cavities shrinkingon the cermets. The agglomeration of nanoparticles along with SiC protected the cermet in corrosion and abrasive wearby~97% and~71%. The study evidenced the novel fabrication method using ultrasonic rheo-squeeze casting led to improvement in mechanical and thermal properties of the hybrid cermets.

<P>The tetragonal alpha-phase structured manganese dioxide nanorods were densely grown over the nitrogen doped graphite nanofibers (NGNF/MnO2) via a facile and one-pot hydrothermal technique. The amperometric results depicted that NGNF/MnO2 composite exhibited a high sensitivity of 1096 mu A mM(-1) cm(-2) and a wide linear range from 0.1 to 11 mM with the lower detection limit of 1.25 mu M toward the non-enzymatic hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) detection, owing to the synergistic effects of NGNF and MnO2. In the prospect of excellent selectivity, real sample analysis and other striking advantages, the developed non-enzymatic sensors hold promising potential for the tight monitoring of H2O(2) in the food and clinical diagnosis fields. <P>Gastric cancer (GC) is a lethal malignancy and the second most common cause of cancer-related deaths. Although treatment options such as chemotherapy, radiotherapy, and surgery have led to a decline in the mortality rate due to GC, chemoresistance remains as one of the major causes for poor prognosis and high recurrence rate. In this study, we investigated the potential effects of isorhamnetin (IH), a 3'-O-methylated metabolite of quercetin on the peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor 관 (PPAR-관) signaling cascade using proteomics technology platform, GC cell lines, and xenograft mice model. We observed that IH exerted a strong antiproliferative effect and increased cytotoxicity in combination with chemotherapeutic drugs. IH also inhibited the migratory/invasive properties of GC cells, which could be reversed in the presence of PPAR-관 inhibitor. We found that IH increased PPAR-관 activity and modulated the expression of PPAR-관 regulated genes in GC cells. Also, the increase in PPAR-관 activity was reversed in the presence of PPAR-관-specific inhibitor and a mutated PPAR-관 dominant negative plasmid, supporting our hypothesis that IH can act as a ligand of PPAR-관. Using molecular docking analysis, we demonstrate that IH formed interactions with seven polar residues and six nonpolar residues within the ligand-binding pocket of PPAR-관 that are reported to be critical for its activity and could competitively bind to PPAR-관. IH significantly increased the expression of PPAR-관 in tumor tissues obtained from xenograft model of GC. Overall, our findings clearly indicate that antitumor effects of IH may be mediated through modulation of the PPAR-관 activation pathway in GC.</P>

In the present investigation, sharp upper bounds ofja3 a22j for functionsf(z) = z + a2z2 + a3z3 + belongingto certain subclas1ses of starlike and convex functions with respectto symmetric points are obtained. Also certain applications of themain results for subclasses of functions dened by convolution witha normalized analytic function are given. In particular, Fekete-Szego inequalities for certain classes of functions dened throughfractional derivatives are obtained.

Objective Hip fractures are associated with significant morbidity and mortality. Ultrasound-guided peripheral nerve blocks are a safe method to manage pain and decrease opioid usage. The pericapsular nerve group (PENG) block is a novel, potentially superior block because of its motor-sparing effects. Through training, simulation, and supervision, we aim to determine whether it is feasible to perform the PENG block in the emergency department. Methods Phase 1 consisted of emergency physicians attending a workshop to demonstrate ultrasound proficiency, anatomical understanding, and procedural competency using a low-fidelity model. Phase 2 consisted of a prospective, observational, feasibility study of 10 patients with hip fractures. Pain scores, side effects, and opioid usage data were collected. Results The median pain score at time 0 (time of block) was 9 (interquartile range [IQR], 6.5–9). The median pain score at 30 minutes was 4 (IQR, 2.0–6.8) and 3.5 (IQR, 1.0–4.8) at 4 hours. All 10 patients required narcotics prior to the initiation of the PENG block with a median dosage of 6.25 morphine milligram equivalents (MME; IQR, 4.25–7.38 MME). After the PENG block, only 30% of the patients required further narcotics with a median dosage of 0 MME (IQR, 0–0.6 MME) until operative fixation. Conclusion In this feasibility study, PENG blocks were safely administered by trained emergency physicians under supervision. We demonstrated data suggesting a trend of pain relief and decreased opiate requirements, and further investigation is necessary to measure efficacy.

The aim of this article is to estimate the coefficient bounds of certain subclasses of analytic functions. We claim that this is a novel and unique effort in combining the coefficient functional along with the new domains and the probability distributions which have not been found or are available in the literature of coefficients bounds. Here the authors analyze these bounds in the special domains associated with exponential function and sine function. Further we obtain Fekete-Szegö inequalities for the defined subclasses of analytic functions defined through Poisson distribution series and Pascal distribution series.

Recent investigations suggest that gut microbiota affects the brain activity through the microbiota-gut-brain axis under both physiological and pathological disease conditions like Parkinson’s disease. Further dopamine synthesis in the brain is induced by dopamine producing enzymes that are controlled by gut microbiota via the microbiota-gut-brain axis. Also alpha synuclein deposition and the associated neurodegeneration in the enteric nervous system that increase intestinal permeability, oxidative stress, and local inflammation, accounts for constipation in Parkinson’s disease patients. The trigger that causes blood brain barrier leakage, immune cell activation and inflammation, and ultimately neuroinflammation in the central nervous system is believed to be due to the chronic low-grade inflammation in the gut. The non-motor symptoms that appear years before motor symptoms could be reliable early biomarkers, if they could be correlated with the established and reliable neuroimaging techniques or behavioral indices. The future directions should therefore, focus on the exploration of newer investigational techniques to identify these reliable early biomarkers and define the specific gut microbes that contribute to the development of Parkinson’s disease. This ultimately should pave the way to safer and novel therapeutic approaches that avoid the complications of the drugs delivered today to the brain of Parkinson’s disease patients. The results of mathematical modeling and the experimental investigation on the machinability of aluminium (Al6061) silicon carbide particulate (SiCp) metal matrix composite (MMC) during end milling process is analyzed. The machining was difficult to cut the material because of its hardness and wear resistance due to its abrasive nature of reinforcement element. The influence of machining parameters such as spindle speed, feed rate, depth of cut and nose radius on the cutting force has been investigated. The influence of the length of machining on the tool wear and the machining parameters on the surface finish criteria have been determined through the response surface methodology (RSM) prediction model. The prediction model is also used to determine the combined effect of machining parameters on the cutting force, tool wear and surface roughness. The results of the model were compared with the experimental results and found to be good agreement with them. The results of prediction model help in the selection of process parameters to reduce the cutting force, tool wear and surface roughness, which ensures quality of milling processes.

Nanocrystalline TiO2 powder is synthesized using a novel reactive plasma process in which the precursor TiH2 powder is oxidized through thermal plasma in-flight route to generate nanocrystalline TiO2 powder. The synthesized powder consists of nano-sized TiO2 particles, both anatase and rutile phases, in which anatase is the predominant phase. An additional feature of the plasma synthesized TiO2 powder is the higher surface concentration of Ti3þ state and hydroxyl group that enhance its photocatalytic activity. The photocatalytic inactivation of Gram-positive Enterococcus and Gram-negative Klebsiella bacteria is studied using the plasma synthesized TiO2 nanopowder with 365 nm ultraviolet (UV) light. The mechanism behind the photocatalytic disinfection of bacteria is discussed. The plasma synthesized TiO2 nanopowder catalyst is found effective in killing Enterococcus and Klebsiella. The results corroborated that the plasma synthesized TiO2 powder can be used for waste water treatment and water purification.
