This study focuses on hydrological changes caused by developments in the 13th, 14th (Motjarigol) district in Eun Pyoung New Town, Seoul on the basis of the Land Use Planning of development plan. Through analyses from the hydrological experiments about rainfall outflow using universal equation and amounts of infiltration through soils, the changes in amounts of overflows were estimated and the results were discussed from a urban ecological point of view. As a result, it has been predicted that the amount of rainfall outflow at post-development was dramatically increased, compared to pre-development. Installing of Derbris Dams and infiltration facilities were suggested as alternative plan to meditigate these changes. If we apply these alternatives, the rainfall outflow would be reduced up to 30% compared to the development plan without BMPs (Best Management Practice). In conclusion, it is proposed that once the ecological principles were considered during development planning process, we can minimize the adverse effects of developments to our environments.

( Sung Jong Lee ),( Jeong Hoon Bae ),( Jin Hwi Kim ),( Sung Ha Lee ),( Sung Eun Namkoong ),( Jong Sup Park ) 대한산부인과학회 2009 Journal of Womens Medicine Vol.2 No.1
Objective: The purpose of the study was to evaluate the sensitivity and specificity of the TruScreen in the diagnosis of cervical intraepithelial neoplasia (CIN) and the benefit of an adjunct test to cervical cytology screening. Methods: Data were collected prospectively on 249 women who had undergone a loop electrosurgical excision procedure (LEEP) or hysterectomy at Kangnam St. Mary`s Hospital of Catholic University between March and December 2008. The TruScreen was performed on 249 patients and the sensitivity and specificity were determined. The accuracy of TruScreen and cervical cytology were also ascertained. Results: A remarkable improvement in the accuracy of the combined test for CIN 1 (sensitivity, 96.8%) and CIN2/3 (sensitivity, 92.4%) was noted. The sensitivity of TruScreen for CIN1 and CIN2/3 was 75.8% and 77.3%, respectively. The specificity of TruScreen for normal tissue was 85.1%. Conclusion: The present study suggests that the TruScreen is an excellent device as an adjunctive test for the detection of CIN. The instantaneous result of TruScreen in women with ASCUS or LSIL can provide rapid and reliable information.

Aims: The anemia in chronic liver disease is common. The causes can be bleeding, malnutrition, erythrocyte sequestration and underproduction, and medicine’s side effects. Many patients are just regarded as iron deficiency anemia (IDA) and described iron supplements. We investigated the patterns of anemia in chronic liver disease and triage the causes. Methods: The patients invited to Korea university ansan hospital from 2012 to 2016 were investigated retrospectively. 1632 patients were test for anemia lab. The definition of anemia is <13.0g/dl(men) or 8.1g/dl(women) according to WHO’s threshold. Reticulocyte production index (RPI) is calculated by [reticulocyte count (%)*hematocrit/ 45]/reticulocyte maturation time. If RPI ≥2.5, it is classified as hemolysis or hemorrhage. If RPI < 2.5, it was checked red cell morphology. Normocytic (MCV 80-100) is classified as hypo-proliferative disorder, and macrocytic (MCV >100) or microcytic (MCV <80) is classified as maturation disorder. In hypo-proliferative disorder, eGFR (using MDRD fomula) < 30ml/min/1.73 m2 is classified as renal disease. If CRP >3mg/dl, it is classified as inflammatory disorder. In maturation disorder, if transferrin saturation (Fe/TIBC) <15% or ferritin <18 ng/ml, it classified as IDA. In macrocytic morphology, if the patients diagnosed as alcoholic disease, it is classified as folate and/or vitamin B12 deficiency. Others are classified as undetermined. This classification is modified from ‘algorithm of the physiologic classification of anemia’ of Harrison’s Internal Medicine. Results: Total 441 patients were available for analysis. 11 patients were classified as hemolysis/hemorrhage according to RPI ≥2.5. 430 patients were divided as hypo-proliferative (n=275) and maturation disorder (n=155) according to RBC morphology. IDA 72, renal disease 9, inflammatory disease 30, and thiamine folate deficiency 61 patients were classified. 258 patients were undermined. In IDA 72 patients, 38 patients were treated with iron supplement. In other causes 111 patients, 16 patients were described iron. In undermined 258 patients, 75 patients described iron. The proportion who diagnosed and appropriately treated with iron supplement was 8.8%, and 3.7% were miss treated, and 17.5% needed further evaluation. Conclusions: A lot of patients with anemia in chronic liver disease are treated with undetermined diagnosis. Using algorithm, many patients could be classified and treated appropriately.

Case Report : A Case of Recurrent Acute Pancreatitis due to Pancreatic Arteriovenous Malformation
( Jong Kyoung Choi ),( Sang Hyub Lee ),( Min Sun Kwak ),( Jai Hwan Kim ),( Eun Sun Jang ),( Sung Wook Hwang ),( Jin Hyeok Hwang ),( Li Jin Joo ),( Yoo Seok Yoon ),( Hae Ryoung Kim ) The Editorial Office of Gut and Liver 2010 Gut and Liver Vol.4 No.1
Pancreatic arteriovenous malformation (AVM) is an extremely rare condition with various clinical manifestations. We report herein a case of recurrent acute pancreatitis due to pancreatic AVM in a 49-year-old man. This patient presented with epigastric pain that had developed after consuming alcohol 2 days prior to admission. Serum amylase and lipase levels were elevated and computed tomography revealed focal low-attenuation lesions with peripancreatic infiltrations in the pancreatic tail and multiple collateral vessels around the low-attenuation lesions. He was diagnosed with acute pancreatitis and pancreatic AVM. Although he had stopped drinking after the first attack of acute pancreatitis, his pancreatitis recurred twice within 3 months. He underwent a distal pancreatectomy after the third attack of acute pancreatitis. He was free of symptoms for 2 years after the pancreatectomy. (Gut Liver 2010;4:135-139)

Foot-and-mouth disease (FMD) is an economically important and highly infectious viral disease in most parts of the world and is predominantly controlled by immunization strategy. The removal of nonstructural proteins (NSPs) is an important process of FMD vaccine because vaccinated and naturally infected animals can be distinguished by the presence of NSP antibodies in FMD serological surveillance. Polyethylene glycol method is conventionally used to eliminate the NSPs from the FMD vaccine antigens. However, since this method leaves residual NSPs, we established a method to remove NSPs by chloroform treatment. The NSPs were not detected in treatment with more than 2% chloroform in the FMD virus (FMDV) culture supernatant. It was verified that the chloroform treated FMD vaccine eliminated NSPs by animal immunization. For industrial application, the mixing volume of the FMDV culture supernatant and chloroform was scaled-up. In a 2 liter bioreactor, 2% of chloroform and 2,000rpm of impeller speed were established as an optimal mixing condition. Using an electronic mixer, 2% of chloroform and 350rpm of agitator speed were established in a volume of 20 liters. In conclusion, a method for removing NSPs with minimum concentration of chloroform was developed. Furthermore, by scaling up this, it is expected that FMD vaccine manufacturers could be able to easily produce high-purity FMD vaccines.
