Female Migrants in the Urban Labour Market : A Study of Costs and Returns
S. Sundari Research Institute of Asian Women Sookmyung Women' 2005 Asian Women Vol.20 No.-
This paper measures the costs and returns of female labour migration in Tamil Nadu State (India) based on a sample survey. The employment pattern of female migrants suggest that there is overcrowding of women in the informal sector both before and after migration. The scope for self employment for women has expanded in urban areas. The study reveals that economic returns of migration quantified in terms of an increase in the income of female migrants and their households, is greater than the economic costs of migration, thus justifying the migration decisions. Family migration is economically viable than individual migration , though in both cases costs were relatively less than the returns. Despite an increase in the household income after migration, about 43 per cent and 34 per cent of the households surveyed were below poverty line on the basis of income and expenditure criterion respectively. In short, appraising the costs and returns of migration it may be concluded that migration has certainly benefited all migrant families in narrow economic sense. However the quality of life of urban migrant households are poor and much below the levels of their counterparts in their place of origin.

Two surge interactive and non-interactive tank systems are taken as examples of multi-level tank system. Due to the dynamic level changes of the two-tank system, various control techniques are intended to regulate the level by controlling the liquid infl ow quantity. In addition to that, disturbance eff ect is considered to get better step response for the tuning of Proportional Integral Derivative (PID) controller by using meta-heuristic algorithm. In this paper, Proportional Integral Derivative (PID) controller design analysis is carried out by using Feed Forward (FF) control, Genetic Algorithm (GA), Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) and Bubble Net Whale Optimization Algorithms (BNWOA). BNWOA is used to tune the PID controller to reduce constrains of two tank system and obtain the optimal control is proposed. The transfer function of the two-tank system with step input for various control algorithms such as GA, PSO and BNWOA are observed using MATLAB Simulink and M-script. From the analysis, better performance such as reduced constrains and optimal control can be obtained from BNWOA. Then steady state analysis is made and the simulation results are presented at the end.

In this work, the synthesized nanoporous aluminum fumarate (Al_FA_A) metal organic framework (MOF) hasbeen used as reactive filler for the bisphenol-A dicyanate (BADCy) resin system. The use of Al_FA_A is interesting dueto the involvement of double bonds (fumarate) in triazine during polymerization. The thermal properties of the polymersformed with and without reactive filler were evaluated under different curing temperatures, prepolymerizations and postpolymerizations conditions. All the samples were characterized by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) and X-ray diffraction analysis (XRD) andEvolved gas analysis. On the contrary, the cure chemistry was determined by non-isothermal model free kinetic methods. This study provides a new path to utilize the MOFs as reactive nanoparticle fillers to obtain multifunctional materials.
Cascaded Fuzzy Logic Controlled Modular Multilevel Converter for PV Based DSTATCOM Applications

This paper analyses the implementation of modular multi level converter (MMLC) in the application of grid connected Photovoltaic system in an efcient manner. As MMLC exhibits properties of high modularity and scalability, it is highly suitable for the high power applications, which makes MMLC to be preferred in this study as an apt replacement of the conventional DC–DC converters. A unifed control using a cascaded fuzzy logic controller (CFLC) is proposed for both the maximum power point tracking and modular 7 level converter (M7LC) control. The CFLC is analogized with the conventional PI and Fuzzy controllers under both the normal and partial shaded conditions. The entire system is assessed with the aid of using MATLAB simulation. The observed outcomes exhibit that total harmonic distortion (THD) of line current is minimum under all operating conditions when the CFLC is used for M7LC. The prototype of the proposed M7LC with CFLC is implemented in FPGA SPARTAN 6E controller for the experimental validation. The proposed approach delivers lesser THD of 1.02% under normal condition and 1.12% under partial shading condition.

Glioma is one of the common types of brain tumors starting in the brain's glial cell. These tumors are classified into low-grade or high-grade tumors. Physicians analyze the stages of brain tumors and suggest treatment to the patient. The status of the tumor has an importance in the treatment. Nowadays, computerized systems are used to analyze and classify brain tumors. The accurate grading of the tumor makes sense in the treatment of brain tumors. This paper aims to develop a classification of low-grade glioma and high-grade glioma using a deep learning algorithm. This system utilizes four transfer learning algorithms, i.e., AlexNet, GoogLeNet, ResNet18, and ResNet50, for classification purposes. Among these algorithms, ResNet18 shows the highest classification accuracy of 97.19%.

Siddharth Goutam,Srija Unnikrishnan,Sundary S. Prabavathy,Archana Karandikar 대한전자공학회 2021 IEIE Transactions on Smart Processing & Computing Vol.10 No.1
Next Generation Networks (NGNs) will be heterogeneous due to the presence of the various Radio Access Technologies (RATs). The number of smartphone users is increasing exponentially, and smartphones are being equipped with multiple network interfaces. Smartphone users desire to be connected to the best network among the available networks while moving across geography. The requirement of seamless connectivity along with a maintained Quality of Service (QoS) can be achieved through Vertical Handover (VHO).Vertical Handover is an important factor to be considered in network design. The full potential of various access networks can be achieved using efficient and effective Vertical Handover Decision Algorithms (VHDAs). In this context, the research paper proposes a model for VHDA based on a Least Cost function. The primary function of VHDA is to provide “All-Time Connectivity to the Best Possible Network with the Best Quality of Service at the Least Cost”. The main parameters considered in the VHDA are RSS, bandwidth, network coverage, packet loss, jitter, and latency.
