BACKGROUND: We compared the relationship between inflammatory markers and neointimal hyperplasia (NIH) after drug-eluting stent (DES) implantation. METHODS: We implanted a single DES in 42 consecutive patients with stable angina. The plasma high-sensitivity C-reactive protein (hs-CRP), interleukin-6 (IL-6), and matrix metalloproteinase-9 (MMP-9) levels were measured before, and 24 and 72 h after the procedure. Angiography and intravascular ultrasound were performed. RESULTS: No relationship was noted between the baseline hs-CRP level and NIH. A significant positive correlation was noted between NIH and the hs-CRP level obtained at 24 h (r=0.435, P=0.004), and 72 h (r=0.334, P=0.031) after the procedure. Interestingly, there was a positive correlation between the change (&Dgr;) in the hs-CRP level and NIH at 24 h (r=0.414, P=0.006). The fourth quartile of the hs-CRP at 24 h after percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) had significantly larger volume of NIH than the first quartile (20.1±25.1 vs. 2.7±6.4 mm, P<0.05). Moreover, NIH in the fourth quartile (20.9±26.4 mm) was higher than the first quartile (3.3±8.6 mm) of the &Dgr; hs-CRP level at 24 h (P<0.05) after the procedure. Although the IL-6 level at the baseline and 72 h after the procedure were positively correlated with NIH (r=0.337, P=0.029 and r=0.435, P=0.004, respectively), the &Dgr; IL-6 level at any stage was not correlated with NIH. Neither the MMP-9 level nor the &Dgr; MMP-9 level at any stage was correlated with NIH. CONCLUSION: This prospective intravascular ultrasound study showed the inflammatory response after PCI, as measured by hs-CRP levels, but not the baseline hs-CRP level, predict NIH after DES implantation. Neither a change in the IL-6 nor MMP-9 levels at any stage after PCI reflected NIH.

結晶들의 外的인 모양은 매우 規則的이며 많은 對稱性을보인다. 結晶들이 나타내는 外的인 對稱要素들은 10가지로 分類되는데 이 對稱要素들은 모든 結晶들을 7個의 系로 分類한다. 이 對稱要素들이 한 固定點올 지나도록 모을 수 있는 個別의 集合의 數는 32個뿐으로 이를 三次元的 點群이라 한다. 이 論題에서는 32個 點群을 誘導하고 整理하였다. Crystals are very regular in external shape and clearly exhibit a great deal of symmetry. The external symmetry elements exhibited by crystals are categorized into a limited number of ten and they classify all crystals into the seven crystal systems. The total number of distinctly different sets of the symmetry elements passing through a fixed point comes out to be only thirty two which are termed as the three-dimensional point groups. The thirty two point groups are derived and summarized here.

Triclinic, monoclinic, orthorhombic systems에서 primitive이면서 centrosymmetric space group이면 8가지 對稱中心點中 任意의 한 點을 原點으로 指定하기 爲하여 3個의 structure factor에게 任意의 phase를 割當할 수 있음을 보였다. 이들 phase들은 direct method에서 structure factor의 phase를 決定해가는 basic set이 될 수 있다. In any primitive and centrosymmetric space group in the triclinic, monoclinic, or orthorhombic systems, arbitrary signs can be allocated to three reflections in order to specify the origin at one of the eight centers of symmetry. These signs form a basic set, from which more and more signed reflections emerge in the process of direct method.

32개 點群은 中心對稱(centrosymmetric)을 갖는 11가지 點群(Laue群)과 21個의 非對稱中心(noncentrosymmetric)點群으로 이루어졌다. 本 硏究에서는 21個 非對稱中心點群 各各의 等價回折面(等價逆格子點)들을 誘導하였다. The thirty two point groups consist of eleven Laue groups (centrosymmetric point groups) and twenty one noncentrosymmteric point groups. In this paper, the reciprocal lattice points equivalent under the operations of 21 noncentrosymmetric point groups are derived.

결정학적 가설 ??은 anomalous dispersion을 나타내는 원자를 갖고있는 비대칭 결정에 대해서는 성립하지 않는다. 만약 이들의 결정구조가 Lane group 보다는 오히려 noncentric point group의 X선 강도 데이터의 asymmetric unit로부터 정해질 수 있다면, 그 구조는 강도 데이터가 2배로 증가하기 때문에 보다 신뢰성이 증가한다. 본 논문에서는, 21개 noncentric point group 각각에 들어가는 강도 데이터의 asymmetric unit 의 정확한 범위를 계산하는 프로그램을 제안하였다.

적은數의 重原子를 갖은 分子의 結晶構造는 重原子法(heavy-atom method 또는 Patterson method 라고도 함)으로 解析될수 있다. 本 論題에서는 重原子法에 利用되는 -般的인 Patterson 函數 및 7個 結晶系名名의 Patterson 를 誘導하였으며 이 函數를 使用하여 決定된 三個의 結晶構造를 實例로 들었다. Crystal structures of certain molecules containing a relatively small number of heavier stoms could be analyzed by the Patterson method which is alternatively called heavy-atom method. In this topic, the general Patterson function and the one for each of the seven crystal systems used for the heavy-atom method were derived and three crystal structures determined by these functions were illustrated as examples.

한 結晶의 構造는 唯一單位의 X-線 回折强度資料로부터 決定될 수 있다. Miller指數(hkl)의 函數인 回折强度Ⅰ(hkl)는 異常 散亂(anomalous scattering)이 無視될때 對稱中心點群 卽 Laue群의 對稱性을 나타낸다. 이 論文에서는 모든 結晶系에 對한 回折强度의 唯一單位를 Laue群들의 對稱性으로부터 誘導하여 놓았다. Crystal structures can be determined from the unique data of X-ray intensity. As the X-ray intensity Ⅰ(hkl), which is a function of diffraction plane (hkl), has a center of symmetry assuming anomalous scattering is negligible Ⅰ(hkl) shows the symmetry of a centrosymmetric point group, i.e., a Laue group. In this paper the unique data of the intensity for all crystal systems have been derived from the symmetries of Laue groups.
