Utility AC Frequency to High Frequency ACPower Conversion Circuit with Soft Switching PWM Strategy

In this paper, a DC smoothing filterless soft switching pulse modulated high frequency AC power conversion circuit connected to utility. frequency AC power source is proposed for consumer induction heating hot water producer, steamer and super heated steamer. The operating principle of DC link filterless utility frequency AC-high frequency AC (HF AC) power conversion circuit defined as high frequency cycloinverter is described, which can operate under a principle of ZVS/AVT and power regulation based on alternate asymmetrical PWM in synchronization with the utility frequency single phase AC positive or negative half wave voltage. The dual mode modulation control scheme based on high frequency PWM and commercial frequency AC voltage PDM for the proposed high frequency cycloinverter are discussed to enlarge its soft switching commutation operating range for wide HF AC power regulation. This high frequency cycloinverter is developed for high frequency IH Dual Packs Heater (DPH) type boiler used in consumer and industrial fluid pipeline systems. Based on the experiment and simulation results, this high frequency cycloinverter is proved to be suitable for the consumer use IH-DPH boiler and hot water producers. The cycloinverter power regulation and power conversion efficiency characteristics are evaluated and discussed.

Large quantities of high-quality recipient oocytes with uniform cytoplasm are needed for research in the promising field of somatic cell nuclear transfer (SCNT) and embryonic stem cell research. In canines, however, it is difficult to obtain large quantities of oocytes because each donor produces a limited number of mature oocytes in vivo. Although in vitro maturation (IVM) is considered an alternative approach to oocyte production, this technique is still too rudimentary to be used for the production of highquality, uniform oocytes in large quantities. One technique for overcoming this difficulty is to use oocytes obtained from different species. This technique is known as interspecies SCNT (iSCNT). This review provides an overview of recent advances in canine - porcine interspecies SCNT.

This paper presents soft switching zero voltage switching high frequency inverter for rare gas fluorescent lamp using dielectric-barrier discharge phenomenon. The simple high-frequency inverter can completely achieve stable zero voltage soft switching (ZVS) commutation for wide its output power regulation ranges and load variations under its constant high frequency pulse density modulation(PDM) scheme. The experimental operating performances of this high frequency inverter are illustrated as compared with computer simulation results and experimental ones. Its light dimming characteristics due to power regulation scheme are evaluated and discussed on the basis of simulation and experimental results. The feasible effectiveness of this high frequency inverter appliance implemented here is proven from the practical point of view.

The purpose of this paper is to clarify the difference of the choice of Japanese demonstrative “kono”, ”sono” and “ano” in conversations between native speakers of Japanese and Korean superior level learners of Japanese. A speaker and a listener were talking next to each other. The survey results suggested as follow: (1) For indicating a real object, both native Japanese speakers and Korean learners of Japanese choose “ano” if it exists in distance, but choose “kono”, “sono” and “ano” if it exists near to the speaker. (2) For indicating a person in the picture or a screen, native Japanese speakers had a tendency to choose “kono”, but Korean learners of Japanese had a tendency to choose “ano”. (3) For indicating invisible sound or smell, both native Japanese speakers and Korean learners of Japanese choose “ano”, if the source of sound or smell was visible, but choose “kono”, if it was invisible.

This paper discusses the circuit topologies for simple three-level phase shift ZVS-PWM DC-DC converters in addition to the proposed three-level diode clamped and flying capacitor hybrid phase shift soft switched PWM high frequency link DC-DC converters for industrial gas metal arc welding machines. The arc welding machines for TIG, MIG and MAG require low voltage and large current DC output for high frequency linked DC-DC converters. These three-level type soft switched PWM converter topologies are suitable for some industrial applications mentioned above because of keeping the reduced device voltage capability for wide load ranges and wider soft switching operating ranges as compared to the full bridge converter. This paper is concerned with the comparative three topologies of diode clamping, flying capacitor and diode clamping and flying capacitor hybrid DC-DC converters. In this paper, the circuit operation principles of these three-level soft switched PWM DC-DC converters, soft switching operating ranges and power regulation characteristics are evaluated on the basis of simulations and experiments from a practical point of view.

The oscillation voltage (Ebm) is an important parameter of the characteristic constant of a high power microwave generator. When Ebm could be made high, it serves so as to improve the power conversion efficiency of a magnetron. Thus, the newly developed magnetron with 7% higher oscillation cut-off voltage than the present conventional one is manufactured by Matsushita Electric Industrial Co. Ltd, In addition to this, the utility AC power line current reduced harmonic type direct inverter AC-DC power converter suitable and acceptable for driving this magnetron is proposed in this paper. This direct high frequency inverter type soft switching PWM AC-DC converter has the voltage-boost function based on active clamp scheme with soft switching pulse modulation strategy topology. This paper describes a novel type active clamp AC-DC power converter circuit defined as direct high frequency inverter and the switching operation of this power converter is described and discussed on the basis of simulation and experimental results. The operating characteristics of this soft switching direct high frequency inverter type AC-DC power converter using IGBTs that incorporates the harmonic current improvement as well as power factor correction are evaluated and discussed from a practical point of view as compared with the conventional AC-DC power converter.

In this paper, a constant frequency phase shifting PWM controlled voltage source full bridge-type series load resonant high-frequency inverter using the IGBT power modules is presented for innovative consumer electromagnetic induction heating applications such as a hot water producer, steamer and super heated steamer. The full bridge arm side link passive quasi-resonant capacitor snubbers in parallel with the each power semiconductor device and high frequency AC load side linked active edge inductive snubber-assisted series load resonant tank soft switching inverter with a constant frequency phase shifted PWM control scheme is discussed and evaluated on the basis of the simulation and experimental results. It is proved from a practical point of view that the series load resonant and edge resonant hybrid high-frequency soft switching PWM inverter topology, what is called class DE type, including the variable-power variable-frequency (VPVF) regulation function can expand zero voltage soft switching commutation range even under low output power setting ranges, which is more suitable and acceptable for induction heated dual packs fluid heater developed newly for consumer power utilizations. Furthermore, even in the lower output power regulation mode of this high-frequency load resonant tank high frequency inverter circuit it is verified that this inverter can achieve ZVS with the aid of the single auxiliary inductor snubber.
