Initial teacher education programmes are seen as the first step in the professional development of teachers. The overall goal is the improvement of teachers’ practice. This goal can be achieved through enhancing the motivation, competence, and confidence of (student) te achers in teacher education programmes. Research has shown that the extent to how well prepared teachers feel (motivated, competent and confident) is correlated with the sense of teaching efficacy and responsibility for student learning. This study examines the changes in perceptions (if any) of graduating student teachers’ motivation level to be a teacher, teaching competencies, and confidence as a teacher at the exit point of the initial teacher preparation programme.
Virtual Direction Multicast: An Efficient Overlay Tree Construction Algorithm
Suat Mercan,Murat Yuksel 한국통신학회 2016 Journal of communications and networks Vol.18 No.3
In this paper, we propose virtual direction multicast(VDM) for video multicast applications on peer-to-peer overlaynetworks. It locates the end hosts relative to each other based ona virtualized orientation scheme using real-time measurements. Itbuilds multicast tree by connecting the nodes, which are estimatedto be in the same virtual direction. By using the concept of directionality,we target to use minimal resources in the underlyingnetwork while satisfying users’ quality expectations. We compareVDMagainst host multicast tree protocol. We simulated the protocolin a network simulator and implemented in PlanetLab. Resultsboth fromsimulation and PlanetLab implementation show that ourproposed technique exhibits good performance in terms of definedmetrics.
On strongly quasi primary ideals
Suat Koc,Unsal Tekir,Gulsen Ulucak 대한수학회 2019 대한수학회보 Vol.56 No.3
In this paper, we introduce strongly quasi primary ideals which is an intermediate class of primary ideals and quasi primary ideals. Let $R$ be a commutative ring with nonzero identity and $Q$ a proper ideal of $R$. Then $Q$ is called strongly quasi primary if $ab\in Q$ for $a,b\in R$ implies either $a^{2}\in Q$ or $b^{n}\in Q~ (a^{n}\in Q$ or $b^{2}\in Q)$ for some $n\in \mathbb{N} $. We give many properties of strongly quasi primary ideals and investigate the relations between strongly quasi primary ideals and other classical ideals such as primary, 2-prime and quasi primary ideals. Among other results, we give a characterization of divided rings in terms of strongly quasi primary ideals. Also, we construct a subgraph of ideal based zero divisor graph $\Gamma_{I}(R)$ and denote it by $\Gamma_{I}^{\ast}(R)$, where $I$ is an ideal of $R$. We investigate the relations between $\Gamma_{I}^{\ast} (R)$ and $\Gamma_{I}(R)$. Further, we use strongly quasi primary ideals and $\Gamma_{I}^{\ast}(R)$ to characterize von Neumann regular rings.

Objective-To date, the affective temperamental characteristics of adults with attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) have not been studied. The aim of this study is to explore those temperamental characteristics for adults diagnosed with ADHD as measured by the TEMPS-A and then to compare those results with results for individuals diagnosed with bipolar disorder (BD) and with healthy controls. Methods-Forty adults with ADHD, 40 patients with BD, and 40 healthy controls were enrolled in this study. The groups were matched by age and gender. All patients were assessed using the Structured Clinical Interview for DSM-IV Axis I Disorders (SCID I), the Hamilton Depression Rating Scale, the Hamilton Anxiety Rating Scale, the Young Mania Rating Scale and the Wender Utah Rating Scale. Subjects’ temperamental characteristics were examined using the Turkish version of the Temperament Evaluation of Memphis, Pisa, Paris and San Diego-auto questionnaire (TEMPS-A). Results-Ten subjects (25%) in the ADHD group and 15 subjects (30%) in the bipolar group had at least one dominant temperament. There was no identifiable dominant temperament in the control group. Compared to the control group, the ADHD group scored higher than other groups on all domains of the TEMPS-A: depressive cyclothymic, irritable and anxious. However, the hyperthymic domain was not higher for this group. Adults with ADHD scored higher on the irritable temperament scale as compared to the BD group. The ADHD and BD groups had similar mean scores for each of the other four temperaments. Conclusion-The adults diagnosed with ADHD in this study had different temperamental characteristics from the control group, and these temperamental characteristics were similar to those of the bipolar patients. Recognizing the role of temperamental characteristics in adults with ADHD may increase our understanding of ADHD.
The effect of dwell angle on vibration characteristics of camshaft bearing housings
Suat Sarıdemir 대한기계학회 2013 JOURNAL OF MECHANICAL SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY Vol.27 No.12
Cam-follower mechanisms are affected by undesired dynamic forces which may disrupt the accuracy of the follower motion. These undesired dynamic forces create vibrations which cause noise, wear, and increasing operating costs for cam-follower mechanisms. Journal bearings are the most widely-used mechanical parts in internal combustion engines under high load and high operating speeds. In this study, the effect of the dwell angle on the vibration characteristics of camshaft bearing housings was investigated. Two camshafts having a 6 mm lift and different dwell angles were tested at operating speeds of 450, 900, 1350, 1920, and 2400 rpm. The collected data were analyzed in detail. It was observed that with the increasing of the camshaft rotational speed, vibration responses of greater magnitude were obtained. In general, the first and second peak values of the low dwell angle camshaft were higher than those of the high dwell angle camshaft.
Cyclic and constacyclic self-dual codes over R_k
Suat Karadeniz,Ismail Gokhan Kelebek,Bahattin Yildiz 대한수학회 2017 대한수학회보 Vol.54 No.4
In this work, we consider constacyclic and cyclic self-dual codes over the rings $R_k$. We start with theoretical existence results for constacyclic and cyclic self-dual codes of any length over $R_k$ and then construct cyclic self-dual codes over $R_1 = \F_2+u\F_2$ of even lengths from lifts of binary cyclic self-dual codes. We classify all free cyclic self-dual codes over $R_1$ of even lengths for which non-trivial such codes exist. In particular we demonstrate that our constructions provide a counter example to a claim made by Batoul et al. in \cite{Batoul} and we explain why their claim fails.
ULTRA THIN CARBON FILMS DEPOSITED ON SrTiO3 SUBSTRATES BY THERMIONIC VACUUM ARC
SUAT PAT,M. ZAFER BALBAĞ,ŞADAN KORKMAZ 성균관대학교(자연과학캠퍼스) 성균나노과학기술원 2013 NANO Vol.8 No.3
Carbon thin films were obtained on strontium titanate (SrTiO3) substrates using the thermionic vacuum arc (TVA) method. TVA is a different, cheap and fast technology for thin film production. The films were produced with filament current of 22 amperes from a high purity graphite rod. The crystal structure and surface morphology of the thin films were investigated by X-ray diffraction (XRD) and atomic force microscopy (AFM), respectively. In this way, microstructural characterization, surface topography, nanomechanical properties (nanohardness and adhesion force) and reflective properties of the carbon thin films produced on SrTiO3 (100), (110) and (111) substrates were determined. Deposited carbon thin films on different orientated SrTiO3 substrates are in polycrystalline structures. Hardness of the carbon thin films has been measured in approximately 40 GPa. This hardness value is in the range of excellent hardness region. According to reflection analysis, the film is antireflective.
Investigation of properties of boehmitic sol coated graphite added alumina-low cement castables
Suat Yilmaz,Ersan Yilmaz 한양대학교 세라믹연구소 2010 Journal of Ceramic Processing Research Vol.11 No.1
In this study, benefiting from the low wettability of graphite, various amounts were added to low cement alumina castables to investigate the resistance of refractories to slag corrosion. For this purpose, typically flake graphite was coated with alumina by a sol-gel method and then added to a mixture of the refractory in various amounts. After the physicomechanical investigation, steel ladle slag with a basicity ratio of 2.29 was charged into the crucibles which were prepared according to DIN 51069 standard. After the heat treatment, samples were cut vertically for investigation. For macroscopic analysis, images taken from the slag-refractory surfaces were digitized and subjected to image analyses to investigate the penetration of the slag. Microscopic analyses were carried out with SEM-EDS to determine the elemental dispersion at the refractory-slag interaction zone. Experimental results indicate that the alumina coated graphite addition give improved slag corrosion resistance of alumina castables.
