        While family violence researchers have posited wife abuse become social problem in Korea, husband abuse has not become a research theme but also the relationship between wife abuse and husband abuse. This study has purpose to investigate the aspects of wife and husband abuse and to explore the family background variables related to wife and husband abuse. More than half responded their being experenced wife abuse and one third responed being husband abuse. Through the discriminant analysis, 4 variables(wife's occupation, family income, wife's and husband's educational level) in wife abuse and 1 variable(income) in husband abuse and discriminated. This results indicate that it is socioeconomic condition that keeps husband and wife being in abusive marriages.

      • 한국 아동의 언어 획득에 관한 연구 Ⅱ : Focusing on the Universality of Language & Concept Producing Strategies 언어 및 개념산출 책략의 보편성을 중심으로

        This study attempts to investigate the characteristics of language and concept development by analyzing language data of a 3 year-old boy during sixteen months, and to certify not only the universality hypothesis of cognitive strategies in mapping semantic and conceptual notion to linguistic markers, but also the speciality of acquiring Korean. The results are devided tn two part; learning & extending grtammatical markers/forming & producing conceptual markers. The first, analysis of grammatical markers, leads to several findings. ① It is found that the child has produced 23 case particles appropriately according to its own function respectively. And this result of the contrastive analysis of case particles in our data supports Slobin (1973)'s universal hypothesis 3 that children prefer a one to one mapping of form and meaning. ② This child produced passive and causal sentences using passive or causal particles variously, and a few error-sentences which he had been confused their functinal connotation. ③ The analysis of error-sentences indicates that the child used a grammatical rule generally over the all cases without consideration of its fitness. This result reflect the basic operating stage-hypothesis proposed by Slobin(1973, p.108); stage of (3) overgeneration of marking. The second, analysis of conceptual terms, leads to following findings. ① This child have concept of possession through the linguistic rules such methods as two subjects in a sentence, word-order, and use of possessive particle. ② The child produced various constrative & adjective terms, that described spatial and time concepts. It is discussed that the acquisition-order of spatial and time concepts as H. Clark had proposed time concept, hmetaphor of spacial concept.' It is partially consistent with his hypothesis in this data. ③ The analysis of error-sentences indicates that the child used a conceptual marker generally over the all cases keeping to perceptual consistency. Theis result reflect the basic operating principle C, "Avoid exceptions" proposed by Slobin (1973). So, this study has revealed that language acquisition is a universal cognition-task cross-linguistically.

      • Aspects of North Korean Defectors' Integration in South Korea : Reflection and Application of the German Unification Experience on North Korean Defectors with Cultural Homogeneity

        Acculturation conditions were hypothesized to be similar between North Korean defectors and East Germans after the unification. Analysis of the interview data with 19 North Korean defectors and 13 East Germans revealed that the conditions and processes of acculturation were similar between North Korean defectors and East Germans in the following domains : Culture shock and cognitive dissonance of North Korean defectors and East Germans after the unification, insecurity of life due to unemployment, settlement and stability of family life, self-identity, and cultural integration. Implications of these findings are discussed in light of the integration of North Korean defectors in South Korea.

        북한의 아동 양육 실태 및 관련 변수

        Ideological characteristics and child rearing practices of North Korean society were studied with in-depth interviews of twelve adults who had escaped from North Korea since 1990 and with a questionnaire consisting of 17 items completed by 158 subjects who had also escaped from North Korea. There are 3 ideological characteristics of North Korea : Monotheism, collectivism, and patriarchalism. Collectivism resulted in collective behavior styles; monotheism made the hero worship of the Kim Il Sung lineage possible, and patriarchalism contributed to boy-preference and to differentiated sex-role expectations for their children. In practice, parents emphasize honesty and loyalty to the Communist Party, and they use praise as verbal reinforcement. Parents also emphasize obedience and control rather than democratic participation.

        아동의 물리적 불가능 현상 인지의 연령 차이

        This study investigated children`s cognition of physically impossible televised events by age and types of tasks. The 67 subjects were 3-, 5-, and 7-year-old children from 1 day care center and 1 elementary school in Seoul. Children`s responses were taped and transcribed. Cognition about the events were measured by recognition of impossibility, possibility of replication, and reasons for the possibility of replication of the events. Data were analysed by ANOVA(repeated measure) and Scheffe´ test. Children`s cognitions about the events varied by age groups. Three-year-old children`s recognition of the 3 tasks was different from that of the 5-and 7-year-old children; while 3-year-olds interpreted the events on TV as real, 5- and 7-year-olds considered them to be unreal.

        변증법적 사고를 통한 사회적 정체성의 추론

        형식적 조작기 이후의 사고발달을 상대적 사고와 변증법적 사고로 설명하며, 문화비교 연구를 통해 분석된 사회적 정체성 발달의 보편성을 경험적 연구에 의해 확인하였다. 18세에서 25세 사이의 서울, 목포지역의 대학생 92명을 대상으로 두개의 갈등 상황과 질문지를 제시하고 심층면접한 내용에 대한 양적, 질적 분석을 통해 사회적 정체성 발달의 특성을 1) 사회와 문화를 하나의 복잡한 체계로 이해, 2) 개인적 욕구와 사회적 요구 사이의 갈등으로 인식, 3) 행위를 조직체 내의 유기적 관계로 이해, 4) 변증법적 사고 조작의 사용으로 분석하였다. 아울러 서울과 목포지역 청년들의 `하위문화권` 간의 비교를 통해 가치개념 이해의 문화적 특수성을 분석하였다.

        중국 연변 조선족 어린이들의 놀이와 놀이노래 조사연구

        This study purposes to analyse what games are played and what play-songs are sung among Chinese primary and middle school children of immigrants who emigrated from Korea to 延邊 about 50 years ago. Questionnaire survey, asking about the kinds of games, play-materials, the origins of the games, and the contents of play-songs, was conducted on 50 5th-grade-children and 50 middle school students. The results are as follows: The primary school children have enjoyed physical play. While playing, they sang the songs which they learned from their mother, grand parents, siblings, and teachers. The middle school children tend to play alone more than the primary ones, watching videos and listening to music. Especially they enjoy the popular songs of South Korea. This phenomena reflects the cultural change of the communist society which is struggling to transform its system to open market system.

        한국 아동의 부정사 획득

        This study investigated Korean children`s early acquisition of negatives and focused on four research questions: 1) processing of negative variations; 2) the nature of negatives when negatives are completely acquired in Korean (in which meaning and form are matched in one to one mapping); 3) the validity of Bellugi`s negative acquisition model in Korean; and 4) the cause of child`s erroneous sentence production: limited ability or regularity in children`s cognition. The language data of the five subjects (age span; 1.1 - 3.11)were collected by their parents in the natural setting of the home. The results showed that 1) the pivot form, <X + negative> was processed in many ways from a simple to a complicated form, such as <X + N,Y> <(x+x`) + N> <Y,X + N> <(x+x`) + N,Y> <(x+x`) N,(y+y`)>. It appeared that the children used a simple negative format to reach a one-step advanced negative format. 2) Korean negatives are divided into range of negation in the negative sentence (part or whole), strength of negation (absolute or general), functions of meaning (negation, absences, refusal, prohibition, impossibility). All five children acquired negative sentences in all functions and the complete range after 3 years of age. 3) In spite of the differences in age level, Bellugi`s four stage model was in evidence; that is, Korean children`s negative acquisition was almost identical with Bellugi`s tour stage model in deep structure. 4) Analyses of children`s error sentences showed that the sentences with errors were made not because of the children`s limitation in cognitive ability but because of the strict application of regularity of rules from the original grammars. Consequently, the children produced negative sentences using two rules: the rule of additive complexity (from simple to complex) and the rule of division (from one to several).
