A catalogue of the fauna of Korean Xyleborine species is provided with information on the Korean records,local and world distribution and taxonomy. The following seven new species and 11 newlyrecorded species are added to the Korean fauna: Cyclorhipidion laciniosum Park & Smith sp. nov.,Cyclorhipidion triste Park & Smith sp. nov., Microperus molestus Park & Smith sp. nov., Xyleborinuskwangreungensis Park & Smith sp. nov., Xyleborus singhi Park & Smith sp. nov., Xylosandrus dentipennisPark & Smith sp. nov., Xylosandrus trunculus Park & Smith sp. nov., Cyclorhipidion fukiense (Eggers),Cyclorhipidion japonicum (Nobuchi), Cyclorhipidion laetum (Niisima), Diuncus haberkorni (Eggers), Dryoxylononoharaense (Murayama), Euwallacea interjectus (Blandford), Microperus quercicola (Eggers),Xyleborus glabratus Eichhoff, Xyleborus muticus Blandford, Xyleborus ohtoensis Nobuchi, and Xylosandruscompactus (Eichhoff). Two new combinations, Euwallacea praevius (Blandford) comb. nov. and Dryocoeteslongipilus (Eggers) comb. nov. (both from Xyleborus), are given. The record of Euwallacea minutusis removed from the Korean fauna.

Sublingual Dexmedetomidine for the Treatment of Agitation in Patients with Schizophrenia and Bipolar Disorder

Acute agitation is common amongst individuals with bipolar disorder and schizophrenia and represents a medical emergency. Commonly used medications for agitation, such as benzodiazepines and antipsychotics, are often delivered intramuscularly and may cause adverse effects. Non-invasive, effective, and safe alternative treatment options are needed. The purpose of this review article is to describe the efficacy and safety of sublingual formulation of dexmedetomidine (Igalmi), a selective α2-adrenergic receptor agonist, U.S. Food and Drug Administration approved for the treatment of acute agitation in adults with schizophrenia or bipolar I and II disorder. In two phase 3 trials, two dose strengths of sublingual dexmedetomidine 180 μg and 120 μg were safe and effective in managing acute agitation in patients with bipolar disorder or schizophrenia. Both doses significantly reduced Positive and Negative Syndrome Scale-Exited Component scores two hours after receiving a single dose as compared to placebo, indicating a substantial improvement in agitation. The beneficial effects of sublingual dexmedetomidine were achieved without serious adverse events with the most common side effect being mild somnolence. The clinical trial data suggest that sublingual dexmedetomidine represents a safe and effective treatment option in the armamentarium for acute agitation for people with schizophrenia or bipolar disorder.

Proceedings from the Ice Hockey Summit III: Action on Concussion

Objectives: The Ice Hockey Summit III provided updated scientific evidence on concussions in hockey to inform these five objectives: (1) describe sport related concussion (SRC) epidemiology, (2) classify prevention strategies, (3) define objective, diagnostic tests, (4) identify treatment and (5) integrate science and clinical care into prioritized action plans and policy. Methods: Our action plan evolved from 40 scientific presentations. The 155 attendees (physicians, athletic trainers, physical therapists, nurses, neuropsychologists, scientists, engineers, coaches and officials) voted to prioritize these action items in the final Summit session. Results: (1) establish a national and international hockey data base for SRCs at all levels; (2) eliminate body checking in Bantam youth hockey games; (3) expand a behavior modification program (Fair Play) to all youth hockey levels; (4) enforce game ejection penalties for fighting in Junior A and professional hockey leagues; (5) establish objective tests to diagnose concussion at point of care (POC); and (6) mandate baseline testing to improve concussion diagnosis for all age groups. Conclusions: Expedient implementation of the Summit III prioritized action items is necessary to reduce the risk, severity and consequences of concussion in the sport of ice hockey.

<P>Despite steady progress in catalytic methods for the borylation of hydrocarbons, methane has not yet been subject to this transformation. Here we report the iridium-catalyzed borylation of methane using bis(pinacolborane) in cyclohexane solvent. Initially, trace amounts of borylated products were detected with phenanthroline-coordinated Ir complexes. A combination of experimental high-pressure and high-throughput screening, and computational mechanism discovery techniques helped to rationalize the foundation of the catalysis and identify improved phosphine-coordinated catalytic complexes. Optimized conditions of 150 degrees C and 3500-kilopascal pressure led to yields as high as similar to 52%, turnover numbers of 100, and improved chemoselectivity for monoborylated versus diborylated methane.</P>

As consumers' interest in social responsibility (SR) has greatly increased in the last two decades, a growing body of academic research has examined the influence of consumers' environmental consciousness on their attitudes and purchase intentions toward environment-friendly apparel products. Use of environment-friendly shopping bags (EFSB; recycled and reusable bags) is an example of how apparel retailers engage in SR. However, little research has examined consumers' perceptions and their responses to the use of EFSB. To fill this research gap, this study examined the impact of young consumers' perceptions of EFSB and environmental consciousness on their attitudes and purchase intentions toward apparel retailers using EFSB. An online survey was conducted for data collection. A convenience sample of 212 college students was obtained from a large mid-Southern university in the U.S. A simple linear regression analysis was conducted to test all hypotheses. Results showed that young consumers' perceptions of EFSB positively influenced their environmental consciousness and their attitudes toward apparel retailers that use EFSB, which led to purchase intentions toward the retailers. Findings confirmed that young consumers placed a great degree of importance on EFSB and, therefore, would purchase apparel from retailers that use recycled or reusable shopping bags. These findings imply that providing EFSB is important in enhancing positive attitudes and purchase intentions toward apparel retailers.

A Comparison of two Computer-Assisted Cognitive Training Program Outcomes for Breast Cancer Survivors: A Pilot Study

Purpose: Breast cancer survivors(BCS) have memory, attention, processing speed, and/or executive functionimpairment affecting their quality of life(QOL) and function. Study aims were: (1) compare computer-assistedcognitive training with visual exercises to one with audio+ visual exercises, and (2) gain insight into therelationship between engagement in meaningful activities, cognitive deficits and QOL. Methods: This pilot study used an experimental design with 24 women. Pre and post measures assessed workingmemory, perceived cognition, QOL and engagement in meaningful activities. Results: Treatment effects were not significant for working memory or engagement in meaningful activities. Visualgroup participants scored significantly better on perceived cognitive function posttest test(M = 91.62, SD = 21.75)than pretest(M = 74.48, SD = 29.00), p = .010 and significantly higher on QOL posttest(M = 6.42, SD = 1.27)than pretest(M = 5.60, SD = 1.76), p = .004. Pretest perceived cognitive function was significantly associatedwith pretest(ρ = .617, p < .001) and posttest(ρ = .436, p < .05) QOL. Conclusion: Computer-assisted cognitive training with visual exercises appears to improve perceived cognitivefunction and QOL for BCS. A positive relationship exists between perceived cognitive function and QOL.

Photo-effects on the viscosity of titania nanoparticle suspensions in conducting and insulating medium

The effect of illumination on the viscosity of titania suspensions in silicone oil (insulating medium) and an aqueous buffer (conducting medium) was investigated. Commercially available P25 anatase titania was suspended at a volume fraction of 0.5%. A 12.3% increase in viscosity was observed when silicone oil suspension was used as the medium, while a 2.47% decrease in viscosity was observed for the aqueous buffer suspension after exposure to UV-vis irradiation. The capability of the suspension medium to scavenge photoinduced charges results in the observed photorheological effects. The results presented here demonstrate a new method for influencing the rheological properties of nanoparticle suspensions.
