        I compared Hie mean thought of VEn. Sotaesan, the founder of won Buddhism, wiism, with Buddha's one which showed in the Doctrine of the Mean and which I studied. If Buddha's mean thought expresses neutrality, transcendence andjustice, It can be of the same view as sotesan's truth of I1-won-sang contained Voidness, Roundness and Righteouness. And if we regard the mean thought implied in the Doctrine of the Mean as the essential, middle, the universarity, the flexibility and the Well-timed disposition, we can see that it is same opinion as the truth of I1-won-sang original, phenonmenal, harmonic, and impartial. The truth constantly will continue everlastingly without an alternation throughout time past and present, and It makes no difference between the orient and the occident. Moreover, the Great Master, Sotaesan inheyited Korean traditional thought and developed it into his thought based upon Buddhist thought, and so his truth of I1-won-sang itself must be the mean thought. Its contents in the concrete mean:Voidness, Roundness and Righteousness in the truth of I1-won-sang, the harmonic mean thought in the motto of the foundation of won-Buddhism and timely meditation in the practice of both continual meditatun and everywhere, with which, as Ven. Sotaesan's special mode of meditition, we can train our mind as being on the work at anytime irrespective of the formermeditation which needed the place, time and a fixed rule. Integrared thought of spirit and body also presents the middle-way thought possessing equilibrium of the spirit and the flesch, restraining one-sided religious life based on the relidf of the soul and one-sided layman's life which put first in actuality. With the upside-contents, the Four General principles which are (1) Right Enlight and Right Conduct, (2) Awareness of Graces adn Requital of Graces (3) Practical Utilization of Buddhism and (4) Welfless service to the publid lead the direction to practive the middle path in the state of impartiarty and independence without excess or deficiency. The articles of the reasons held under the precepts also contain the mean contents taken the state of affairs into account. Besides that contents, the Great Master, Sotaesan's mean thought is the advancing practice together in the Threefold Trainings and Eight Articles or in the mutual supplements of administration and relizion.

      • Phenylmercuric-8-oxyquinolinate의 土壤透過力에 對하여

        Phenylmercuric-8-oxyquinolinate, known to have superior fungicidal action to P.M.A. by writer was studed whether it can be a good soil fungicide or not. Good soil fungicide should permeate well into the soil layer and should not decompose in the soil layer. Permeability and degree of decomposition of the chemicals in the soil layer, using Cochliobolus Miyabeanus was studed and the results are as follow. 1. P.M.Q. was more tightly absorbed than P.M.A. in the soil particles. 2. P.M.A. was decomposed well than P.M.Q. in the soil. 3. From above results, P.M.Q. is thought not to be a good soil fungicide.

        Twin-screw extrusion synthesis of low-cost cobalt ferrite ceramic pigments using natural mixed-dimensional palygorskite clay

        Due to the disadvantages of traditional solid-phase and liquid-phase methods for preparation of mixedmetal oxide ceramic pigments, it is indispensable to develop a green, clean, low-cost and continuouspreparation technology. In this study, the low-cost and high-performance cobalt ferrite ceramic pigmentswere facilely prepared based on natural mixed-dimensional palygorskite clay by a continuousmechanochemical method using twin-screw extrusion. The incorporation of the mixed-dimensionalpalygorskite clay effectively improved the agglomeration of pigment nanoparticles and decreased theproduction cost. The hybrid pigments presented the optimal color properties (L* = 17.16, a* = 1.07, b* =3.58 and C* = 3.74) when the cobalt ferrite content, calcination temperature and time were 60 wt%,1100 C and 90 min, respectively. Furthermore, the as-prepared hybrid pigments exhibited excellentchemical and thermal stability and biocompatibility, the mass tone and hiding power of the hybrid pigmentswere superior to the commercial cobalt black pigments, thus the obtained hybrid pigments couldbe served as an eco-friendly underglaze pigment for coloring of ceramic embryo body with good colorsaturation. Beyond all doubt, this study will provide a promising strategy for continuous cleaner preparationof low-cost cobalt ferrite ceramic pigments.

        Serotonergic Antidepressants Are Associated with Increased Blood Loss and Risk for Transfusion in Single-Level Lumbar Fusion Surgery

        Study Design: Retrospective case-control study. Purpose: The purpose of this study was to examine the effect of antidepressants on blood loss and transfusion requirements in spinal surgery patients. Overview of Literature: Several studies have shown an increase in perioperative bleeding in orthopedic surgery patients on antidepressant drug therapy, yet no study has examined the impact of these agents on spinal surgery patients. Methods: Charts of patients who underwent single-level spinal fusion (posterior lumbar interbody fusion with posterior instrumentation) performed by five fellowship-trained surgeons at a tertiary spine center between 2008 and 2013, were retrospectively reviewed. Exclusion criteria included select medical comorbidities, select drug therapy, and Amercian Society of Anesthesiologists Physical Status Classification score of greater than 2. Serotonergic antidepressants were examined in multivariate analysis to assess their predictive value on estimated blood loss and risk of transfusion. Results: A total of 235 patients, of which 52% were female, were included. Allogeneic blood was transfused in 7% of patients. The average estimated blood loss was 682±463 mL. Selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors were taken by 10% of all patients. Multivariable regression analysis showed that intake of selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors was a significant predictor for blood loss (average increase of 34%, p =0.015) and for the need of allogeneic blood transfusion (odds ratio, 4.550; p =0.029). Conclusions: There was a statistically significant association between selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors and both increased blood loss and risk of allogeneic red blood cell transfusion. Surgeons and perioperative providers should take these findings into account when assessing patients’ preoperative risk for blood loss and transfusion.

        Histologic and biomechanical characteristics of orthodontic self-drilling and self-tapping microscrew implants

        Objective: The purpose of this study was to compare the histological and biomechanical characteristics of self-tapping and self-drilling microscrew implants. Methods: 112 microscrew implants (56 self-drilling and 56 self-tapping) were placed into the tibia of 28 rabbits. The implants were loaded immediately with no force, light (100 gm), or heavy force (200 gm) with nickel-titanium coil springs. The animals were sacrificed at 3- and 5-weeks after placement and histologic and histomorphometric analysis were performed under a microscope. Results: All microscrew implants stayed firm throughout the experiment. There was no significant difference between self-drilling and self-tapping microscrew implants both in peak insertion and removal torques. Histologic examinations showed there were more defects in the self-tapping than the self-drilling microscrew implants, and newly formed immature bone was increased at the interface in the self-tapping 5-week group. There was proliferation of bone towards the outer surface of the implant and/or toward the marrow space in the self-drilling group. Histologically, self-drilling microscrew implants provided more bone contact initially but the two methods became similar at 5 weeks. Conclusion: These results indicate the two methods can be used for microscrew implant placement, but when using self-tapping microscrew implants, it seems better to use light force in the early stages. 이 연구의 목적은 교정용 고정원으로 사용된 self-drilling과 self-tapping microscrew implants를 조직학적 및 생역적으로 비교하는 것이다. 28 마리의 가토에 112개의 microscrew implants (56개의 self-drilling microscrew implants 와 56개의 self-tapping microscrew implants)를 식립하였다. Self-tapping microscrew implants는 0.9 mm 드릴로서 홈을 형성한 후 식립하였고 self-drilling microscrew implants는 홈을 형성하지 않고 바로 식립하였다. 교정력은 식립 직후 바로 NiTi coil spring을 연결하여 가하였으며 일부는 교정력을 가하지 않았고 일부는 100 gm정도의 약한 교정력을 일부는 200 gm정도의 강한 교정력을 가하였다. 실험동물은 3주 혹은 5주에 희생하였으며 72개의 비탈회 표본을 만들어 전반적인 조직학적 관찰과 조직 계측을 시행하였다. 토크 게이지로 최대 식립 토크와 최대 제거 토크를 측정하였다. 모든 microscrew implants는 실험기간 동안 안정되게 유지되었고 최대 제거 토크의 측정에는 self-drilling과 self-tapping microscrew implants 사이에 통계학적으로 유이한 차이가 없었다. 조직 관찰에서 self-tapping microscrew implants에서 골 임프란트 계면에 골결손이 더 많았고 5주에서는 새로이 형성된 미성숙 골이 더 많았다. Self-drilling microscrew implants에서 골표면 혹은 골내막으로의 골 형성이 많이 관찰되었으나 5주에서는 흡수되는 양상을 보였다. 3주에서는 self-drilling microscrew implants가 더 많은 골접촉을 보였으나 5주에서는 두 군사이에 차이가 관찰되지 않았다. 이 결과는 두 방법이 모두 microscrew implant의 식립에 사용될 수 있음을 시사하나 self-tapping microscrew implants의 경우 초기에는 약한 힘을 가하는 것이 좋을 것으로 생각된다.

        CaCO3-assisted mechanochemical synthesis of low-cost and highchroma cobalt blue composite pigments using kaolin tailing sand for ceramic coloring

        To reduce the wastes discharging and production cost for preparation of cobalt blue pigments via commonliquid-phase methods, the low-cost and high-chroma cobalt blue composite pigments are fabricatedvia CaCO3-assisted mechanochemical route followed by an annealing process based on the discarded kaolintailing sand (KTS) from the mineral processing. The preparation conditions, formation and coloringmechanisms of composite pigments are studied systematically. The optimal color performance(L* = 40.54, a* = 4.12, b* = 55.22) is obtained after optimizing the preparation conditions. The resultsindicate that CaCO3 acts as a mild precipitant with the assistance of mechanochemical effects to formthe precursor. Furthermore, incorporation of KTS improves the color lightness and blueness of cobalt bluepigments due to the reflection of KTS toward light and well dispersion of CoAl2O4 on KTS surface. Compared with the commercial cobalt blue pigments, the oil absorption and hiding power of compositepigments are high while the relative tinting strength slightly reduces owing to the differences in theirsize and CoAl2O4 content, but the composite pigments may be more popular due to the low productioncost and excellent color performance. Moreover, the as-prepared composite pigments present excellentacid-resistance and coloring performance as a ceramic pigment.
