There is growing evidence that the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) caused by severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) is associated with increased risks of psychiatric sequelae. Depression, anxiety, cognitive impairments, sleep disturbance, and fatigue during and after the acute phase of COVID-19 are prevalent, long-lasting, and exerting negative consequences on well-being and imposing a huge burden on healthcare systems and society. This current review presented timely updates of clinical research findings, particularly focusing on the pathogenetic mechanisms underlying the neuropsychiatric sequelae, and identified potential key targets for developing effective treatment strategies for long COVID. In addition, we introduced the Formosa Long COVID Multicenter Study (FOCuS), which aims to apply the inflammation theory to the pathogenesis and the psychosocial and nutrition treatments of post-COVID depression and anxiety.

As an important nonlinear filter theory, particle filter is a heated issue in domestic and foreign researches. The option of importance density is one of the key steps of particle filter algorithm. The proper option of importance density can minish the negative influence of filter algorithm caused by degeneracy problem. This paper introduces several widely-used options of importance density systemically, and analyzes their features and applied perspectives respectively. The paper also advances a comprehensive method of importance density, analyzes its technical features, explores the adjudgement and improvement of this method based on various performance, and finally puts forward the necessary further study according to the engineer requirements.

New media image art, an essential branch of new media art, is characterized by the primary form of expression being an image and adopting various new means of production and communication. As an emerging art form, new media art has extensive connections to various fields due to the complexity of media and diversity of expression. New media image art has been shaped by the diverse expressions enabled by the development of various production technologies, among which is the Image Stabilization System (ISS). The ISS is a series of technical systems based on a camera stabilization device, thus integrated control of camera motion attitude to complete the camera motion shooting. Recently, the ISS has gained popularity in the film and television industry and is widely used in various video production processes. This article takes the multi-dimensional transformation of the perspective of new media image artworks, using the ISS, as the research subjects. The author briefly introduces some ISSs used in new media image art, analyzes the multi-dimensional transformation of shooting perspectives (the changes in the degree of freedom, immersion and interactivity) by the application of ISS through production examples, and explores the prospect of their application in new media image art.

On hot substrates with a temperature of 100 °C, the qualities of two-dimensional perovskite PEA2MA2Pb3I10(PEA = phenethylammonium,MA = methylammonium) films have been explored which are constructed with different spin-casting speeds. These films are performed at the speed of 1000, 2000, 4000, and 6000 revolution per minute (RPM). Below 4000 r, a higherRPM results in higher crystalline quality with more uniform morphology. Correspondingly, 4000 r devices show better performanceon average (4.3% power conversion efficiency) and less hysteresis in the J-V curve than 1000 r (3.6%) and 2000 rdevices (3.4%). However, for devices that were fabricated at 6000 r, inferior performance (2.8% on average) may not bepredicted simply by the morphology characterization or optical measurement results at room temperature; instead, carriertrapping states can occur that result in thermally activated PL below 200 K with an activation energy of 18 meV, which donot occur in the 1000 r, 2000 r, and 4000 r films. Our results suggest that for evaluating 2D perovskite films prior to fabricatingoptimal devices, multiple morphology characterizations and optical measurements, including of low-temperature PL,will be helpful.

The purpose of this study is to investigate how police detectives prioritize criminal cases, and what factors they consider in solving any given case in Taiwan. Factors related to the decision-making process of investigation initiation include: the seriousness of the offense, order from higher-ranking officers, media sensibility, etc. Convincing evidence, a suspect's confession, qualified/trained detectives, and cooperation among staff are identified as possible solvability factors in the study. The criminal cases in the study are limited to homicide, sexual assault and theft. The study sent questionnaires to 26 Criminal Investigation Divisions of each individual county-level police department in Taiwan, the Republic of China (ROC) between July 1 and August 15, 2003. In all, 1,072 police detectives were surveyed. Homicide, kidnapping, robbery, weapon use, and sexual assault were the most important criminal cases that the detectives initiated response to. On the other hand, cases of vandalism, anti-intellectual property, gambling, simple assault, and fraud tend to be suspended by the detectives, and will not dealt with actively. The critical factors influencing the decision to initiate an investigation are ranked accordingly as: the social harm, order from higher-ranking officers, the extent of damage, rewards and punishments, and media sensibility. For homicide case cleared, the important/critical factors are in order of importance: the weight of collected evidence, the presence of an eye-witness, the quality and experience of detectives, qualified forensic science personnel, and the a well-constructed criminal database. For sexual offense cases cleared, the important factors in order of importance are: the weight of collected evidence, the completeness of the DNA database, the victim's report, the relationship between offender and victim, the experience and quality of detectives. For thefts cleared, the important/critical factors are as follows: the weight of collected evidence, control of the fence, the suspects continued use of the stolen goods, the experience and quality of detectives, qualified forensic science personnel. To improve the quality of crime detection, the detectives' viewpoints argue that efforts should be made to promote the effectiveness of forensic science, provide advanced equipment for detection, reinforce legal training, increase official pay, and create specialized crime detection divisions.
Validation of Actiwatch for Assessment of Sleep-wake States in Preterm Infants
Shu-Chen Yang,Asphodel Yang,Ying-Ju Chang 한국간호과학회 2014 Asian Nursing Research Vol.8 No.3
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to validate the Actiwatch with behaviorally determined sleepewake state in preterm infants and to explore the influence of postmenstrual age on the accuracy ofActiwatch. Methods: A prospective and comparative research design was used. Twenty-four preterm infants withpostmenstrual age ranging from 28e38 weeks were studied. The infants were studied for 2 hours betweentwo feedings. Infant's sleep and wake state was measured every 30 seconds using Actiwatch andthe Anderson Behavioral State Scale simultaneously. Results: Actiwatch demonstrated high agreement, sensitivity, and predictivity of sleep state, whenvalidated with the Anderson Behavioral State Scale at the setting of high and automatic activitythresholds, and was not influenced by the infant's postmenstrual age. However, lower specificity andpredictivity were found in the wake state, and influenced by postmenstrual age. Conclusion: Results of this study suggest that high activity thresholds are the most accurate for determiningsleep state in preterm infants, and health care professionals must take the limitations intoconsideration while using the Actiwatch to assess wake states.

This study was undertaken to discover the effects and possible mechanisms of the effect of red ginseng extract (RGE) on spontaneous sleep. The effects of a low dose (10 mg/kg) and a high dose (200 mg/kg) of RGE were compared in rats. After recovery from a surgical operation enabling electroencephalograms recordings, rats were administered RGE orally. RGE was administered orally for 1 day or once per day for 5 days in either 10 or 200 mg/kg doses. Polygraphic signs were recorded for 12 h after oral administration of RGE. Both treatment with a large dose (200 mg/kg) of RGE for one day and treatment with either a large or a small dose for 5 days reduced the number of sleep–wake cycles. Daily treatment with RGE (either 10or 200 mg/kg) for 5 days augmented NREM and total sleep, but reduced wakefulness. Delta wave activity recorded during non-REM (NREM) sleep and REM sleep was increased after one treatment with RGE (either 10 or 200 mg/kg). Delta wave activity during NREM was enhanced after daily treatment with RGE (either 10 or 200 mg/kg) for 5 days. Both alpha and beta subunits of the γ-aminobutyric acid (GABA)A receptor were significantly over-expressed in the hypothalamus of the RGEtreated groups. Moreover, the expression of glutamic acid decarboxylase was also increased in the hypothalamus. These results demonstrate that RGE may regulate spontaneous sleep via GABAAergic systems.
