      • Background Surface Estimation for Reverse Engineering of Reliefs

Liu, Shenglan,Martin, Ralph R.,Langbein, Frank C.,Rosin, Paul L. Society for Computational Design and Engineering 2007 International Journal of CAD/CAM Vol.7 No.1

Reverse engineering of reliefs aims to turn an existing relief superimposed on an underlying surface into a geometric model which may be applied to a different base surface. Steps in this process include segmenting the relief from the background, and describing it as an offset height field relative to the underlying surface. We have previously considered relief segmentation using a geometric snake. Here, we show how to use this initial segmentation to estimate the background surface lying under the relief, which can be used (i) to refine the segmentation and (ii) to express the relief as an offset field. Our approach fits a B-spline surface patch to the measured background data surrounding the relief, while tension terms ensure this background surface smoothly continues underneath the relief where there are no measured background data points to fit. After making an initial estimate of relief offset height everywhere within the patch, we use a support vector machine to refine the segmentation. Tests demonstrate that this approach can accurately model the background surface where it underlies the relief, providing more accurate segmentation, as well as relief height field estimation. In particular, this approach provides significant improvements for relief concavities with narrow mouths and can segment reliefs with small internal holes.

      • Land Surface Temperature Retrieval from the Medium Resolution Spectral Imager Thermal Data

Hailei Liu,Shenglan Zhang,Shihao Tang 보안공학연구지원센터 2015 International Journal of Hybrid Information Techno Vol.8 No.1

A single channel land surface temperature (LST) retrieval algorithm named Single Channel Water Vapor Dependent (SCWVD) method was presented for Medium Resolution Spectral Imager (MERSI) thermal infrared band aboard FengYun-3A (FY-3A) satellite. Water Vapor Content (WVC) is the only input parameter in the algorithm assuming the surface emissivity is known. NCEP reanalysis monthly mean datasets were used to develop the SCWVD algorithm. Some tests, including global numerical simulations and validations with both in-situ measurements and MODIS LST product at Lake Tahoe, USA, were carried out to evaluate the algorithm performance. The simulation results showed that the LST could be estimated by the SCWVD algorithm with the root mean square error (RMSE) less than 0.8 K. In the inversion test, MERSI Level 2 water vapor product was employed, and the MERSI band emissivity was calculated using the MODIS band 31 and 32 emissivity by an empirical expression. The results show that the difference between the retrieved MERSI LST and the in-situ measurements is less than 1 K in most situations. The comparison with the MODIS LST products (V5) shows that the RMSE is about 2.3 K.

        Zhaoyang Fei,Shenglan Ai,Zhe Zhou,Xian Chen,Jihai Tang,Mifen Cui,Xu Qiao 한국공업화학회 2014 Journal of Industrial and Engineering Chemistry Vol.20 No.6

In the present work, tin incorporated MCM-48 catalysts were prepared by different strategies andapplied in the synthesis of MB-AC and MBOH. The performance of the catalysts is strongly affected bymesochannel environment and acid texture. The organic-graft method (Sn-G-MCM-48) can modify themesochannel environment and enhance the acid intensity and concentration (0.28 mmol/gcat),resulting in the improvement of the catalytic activity to the target reactions. The total yield of MB-AC andMBOH is as much as 68.4% over Sn-G-MCM-48 under mild conditions.

Optimization of Production Conditions for Antioxidant Peptides from Walnut Protein Meal Using Solid-state Fermentation

        Wanxing Wu,Shenglan Zhao,Chaoyin Chen,Feng Ge,Diqiu Liu,Xiaoming He 한국식품과학회 2014 Food Science and Biotechnology Vol.23 No.6

Solid-state fermentation (SSF) of walnut proteinmeal (WPM) by Bacillus subtilis was optimized for themaximum degree of hydrolysis (DH) and reducing power(RP) using response surface methodology (RSM). Optimumfermentation conditions were fermentation time of 82.01 h,inoculum concentration of 10.40, and water content of 1.50mL/g. Optimized values were 41.80% and 0.78 for DH andRP, respectively. Walnut peptides (WP) were ultrafiltrationmembrane fractionated. The WPs-II (molecular weight <5kDa) fraction showed the highest RP value. WPs-II showedgood DPPH free radical scavenging and Fe2+ chelatingactivities, higher than for GSH (L-glutathione reduced) atthe same concentration. Amino acid composition analysisof WPs-II showed that Asp, Glu, and Arg were the majoramino acids playing important roles in the antioxidantactivity. WPs is an efficient antioxidant suitable for use asa food additive and as a pharmaceutical agent.

Parameter study and experimental analysis of a scraping de-icing concept for thin ice using end-of-life wire ropes

Hongliang Li,Shenglan Ji,Yang Jiang,Jiangwei Chu 대한기계학회 2021 JOURNAL OF MECHANICAL SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY Vol.35 No.8

Active deicing technologies, such as conductive asphalt concrete and heating cable, are not applicable to the existing roads, and passive deicing based on mechanical methods damage the roads. A novel scraping deicing system for thin ice using end-of-life wire ropes was proposed, and the scraping deicing mechanism was given to optimizing the inclination angle for minimal external deicing force. The prototype was developed and fabricated, and a laboratory deicing experiment was designed to evaluate the deicing performance for a prefabricate frozen asphalt concrete block (ACB). The results showed that the deicing brush could naturally clean with the thickness of the ice layer of 10 mm. There was good stability when the deicing brush's rotation speed reached 500 r/min, and the removal rate can get 92 %. No apparent scratches occurred on the upper body of the ACB, which will not cause severe damage to the pavement surface.

Pharmacological effects of harmine and its derivatives: a review

        Liang Zhang,Dengchang Li,Shenglan Yu 대한약학회 2020 Archives of Pharmacal Research Vol.43 No.12

Harmine is isolated from the seeds of the medicinalplant, Peganum harmala L., and has been used for thousandsof years in the Middle East and China. Harmine hasmany pharmacological activities including anti-inflammatory,neuroprotective, antidiabetic, and antitumor activities. Moreover, harmine exhibits insecticidal, antiviral, andantibacterial effects. Harmine derivatives exhibit pharmacologicaleffects similar to those of harmine, but with betterantitumor activity and low neurotoxicity. Many studies havebeen conducted on the pharmacological activities of harmineand harmine derivatives. This article reviews the pharmacologicaleffects and associated mechanisms of harmine. In addition, the structure–activity relationship of harminederivatives has been summarized.

A Registration Method for Profi le Error Inspection of Complex Surface Under Minimum Zone Criterion

Gaoshan Tan,Liyan Zhang,Shenglan Liu 한국정밀공학회 2019 International Journal of Precision Engineering and Vol.20 No.7

Although registration of the measured model and the design model has been widely studied, it remains an open problem in complex surface profile error inspection. False rejection of some qualified parts is prone to occur due to the improper registration between the measured points and the nominal model. To solve this problem, we define a surface profile error metric in terms of a new range norm under minimum zone criterion. An optimal framework based on the range norm is proposed to find the registration pose of the measurement data set, in which the surface profile error is minimized. To deal with the computational intractability, the non-differentiable merit function is uniformly approximated by a smooth aggregation function, which can be effectively solved with the limited-memory Quasi-Newton method. Distinct numerical stability control and the active set selection mechanism are proposed to guarantee the accuracy and efficiency of the method. Experiments on a simulated and a real part are included to verify the superiority of the proposed method.

A Fast and Differentiated Localization Method for Complex Surfaces Inspection

Tan Gaoshan,Zhang Liyan,Liu Shenglan,Zhang Weizhong 한국정밀공학회 2015 International Journal of Precision Engineering and Vol. No.

Although significant progress has been made in free-form surface inspection, it remains a difficult problem in some tough situations. For a complex part with multiple freeform surfaces, different quality requirements are often assigned to different surface regions to guarantee the part functionality and/or assembly relations. In this case, the existing localization methods, which treat each individual surface without discrimination, are prone to over rejection of some qualified parts. In this paper, a new localization method is proposed to tackle this problem. It features in that a novel dynamic weighting strategy is introduced in the iterative optimization process to make the localization in favor of the surfaces with higher quality requirements. This strategy can avoid improper scrap of parts in inspection and proves to be more reasonable for the quality evaluation of complex parts. In addition, a distinct fast algorithm is proposed to solve the localization optimization problem. It needs only to solve a 4-order linear system to determine the rigid transformation in each iteration. This solving algorithm is much faster than the popular quaternion-based algorithm for the weighted optimization model. Experiments on a simulated example and a real integral impeller are included to verify the validity and practicability of the proposed algorithm.

Walnut Meal Extracts Rich In Polyphenols Mitigate Insulin Resistance and Modulate Gut Microbiota in High Fat Diet-Fed Rats

        Xingping He,Dan Chen,Yan Guo,Xi Zhang,Yage Ma,Shenglan Zhao 한국식품영양과학회 2022 Journal of medicinal food Vol.25 No.6

Walnut kernel is a traditional Chinese herb recorded in the Chinese Pharmacopoeia with the efficacies of invigorating kidney, tonifying lung, and relaxing bowel. However, the potential mechanisms were unclear. This article aims to uncover the interdict mechanisms of walnut meal extracts (WMP) on high-fat diet (HFD) induced metabolic disorders in rats and reveal how the WMP benefits are associated with changes in the intestinal flora. Sprague-Dawley (SD) rats were fed a standard chow diet or an HFD for 18 weeks. After 6 weeks, the HFD rats were supplemented with 750 mg WMP/kg body weight or the vehicle for 12 weeks. The structure of gut microbiota was assessed by analyzing 16S rDNA sequences. WMP suppressed the weight gain and visceral obesity. WMP treatment also improved lipid profiles and increased antioxidative activities. WMP fully reversed hepatic steatosis with the upregulation of adipocytokines involved in lipid catabolism (e.g., adiponectin, PPAR-γ, visfatin, CEBPα) and the increased activities of lipoprotein lipase and hormone-sensitive lipase, which were associated with glucose tolerance improvement and insulin resistance (IR) mitigation. As revealed by 16S rDNA sequencing, WMP restored the diversity of intestinal flora reduced by HFD. WMP dramatically reduced the abundance of Gram-negative bacteria, especially Fusobacterium varium and Bacteroides vulgatus, and sharply increased the abundance of Lactobacillus animalis decreased by HFD. Our findings demonstrated that WMP suppressed the weight gain and adiposity in HFD-fed rats and fully reversed HFD induced IR and hepatic steatosis while dramatically reducing the abundance of Fusobacteriaceae and Enterobacteriaceae, underscoring the gut-liver axis as a primary target of walnut polyphenols.
