      • Mitochondrial dysfunction and calcium deregulation by the RanBP9-cofilin pathway

        <P>Mitochondrial dysfunction and synaptic damage are important features of Alzheimer's disease (AD) associated with amyloid β (Aβ) and tau. We reported previously that the scaffolding protein RanBP9, which is overall increased in brains of patients with AD and in mutant APP transgenic mice, simultaneously promotes Aβ generation and focal adhesion disruption by accelerating the endocytosis of APP and β1-integrin, respectively. Moreover, RanBP9 induces neurodegeneration <I>in vitro</I> and <I>in vivo</I> and mediates Aβ-induced neurotoxicity. Here we show in primary hippocampal neurons that RanBP9 potentiates Aβ-induced reactive oxygen species (ROS) overproduction, apoptosis, and calcium deregulation. Analyses of calcium-handling measures demonstrate that RanBP9 selectively delays the clearance of cytosolic Ca<SUP>2+</SUP> mediated by the mitochondrial calcium uniporter through a process involving the translocation of cofilin into mitochondria and oxidative mechanisms. Further, RanBP9 retards the anterograde axonal transport of mitochondria in primary neurons and decreases synaptic mitochondrial activity in brain. These data indicate that RanBP9, cofilin, and Aβ mimic and potentiate each other to produce mitochondrial dysfunction, ROS overproduction, and calcium deregulation, which leads to neurodegenerative changes reminiscent of those seen in AD.—Roh.         A common form of relapse in adenocarcinoma of the stomach is intraperitioneal dissemination, in fact, among gastric adenocarcinoma patients who have undergone surgery intended to cure, approximately 50% of the patients develope initial recurrence in the peritoneal cavity regardless of the anatomic site of the primary tumor within the stomach. The efficacy of systemic postoperative chemotherapy to prevent peritoneal recurrence of gastrric adenocarcinoma is not satisfactory. There is still a great need for improved therapeutic strategies on the disseminated microscopic disease and small miliary nodules remaining on the peritoneal surface or lymphatics after operation. The authers have made fluorouracil-polyglycolic acid composite disks(Fu-PGA disks) with fluorouracil and biodegradable polymer: polyglycolic acid for more effective intraperitoneal chemotherapy. We inserted the Fu-PGA disk(s) in the peritoneal cavity of rat and pharmacokinetic study was performed to measure fluorouracil concentration in the peritoneal fluid, plasma, liver, kidney and heart tissue at 24 hour, 72 hour and 168 hour after insertion of Fu-PGA disk(s). Myelosuppressive action of this composite also was determined following its administration. The data of this study suggested that Fu-PGA composite will be a new device releasing drugs in a controlled manner and having targetability to peritoneum, and this device will be improving the efficacy of intraperitoneal chemotherapy for gastric adenocarcinoma.

        This study aim at establishing the 3D digital data of cultural architecture by applying the digital photogrammetric technique. I would applicated as the basic data for preservation and restoration of cultural assets by suggesting the direction of establishing 3D digital data and the more accurate measurement methods than before lagged ones. And I could establish the useful data for visual analysis by connecting the ortho image which was made by digital image for the object and the vector data which was acquired by plotting. The establishment of precise 3D information by photogrammetry was possible, so the application of photogrammetry for measuring various cultural assets which require precise measurement is expected actively in near future.

      • 흙의 指數的 特性에 관한 硏究

        These experiments were carried out to analyse the correlation among various soil parameters which characterize the mechanical properties of the disturbed and undisturbed soil, and to analyse Atterberg Limits for the basin of downstream of Hanriver Keum river, Nakdong river, and Asan bay. 1. Wet density of soil was the lowest in the basin of Nakdong river which contains the highest amount of clay minerals among the soil samples, and was increased in the order of Han river, Keum river and Asan bay. It was appeared that the unit weight of natural soil was changed in accordance with the clay mineral content which determines the moisture content. 2. Curved relationship was recognized, showing that dry density of soil was decreased with increasing the moisture content. Soils from the basin of Asan bay were appeared to have the highest dry density and the next was those of Keum river, the second lowest Han river, and the lowest Nakdong river. 3. When the liquid limit of soils was over 40 percent, their plastic index was above the A-line plastic chart. 4. Between dry density and void ratio of soils, a curved relationship was found, in which dry density was decreased as void ratio increased, and the differences between them became greater in soils containing higher amount of coarse grained soil. Decreasing tendency of dry density in accordance with increase of void ratio was the most significant at Asan bay which contained the lowest clay content, and other decreasing order of dry density was Keum river, Han river, and Nakdong river.

      • 중·고등학교 체육 교과서의 활용성·

        The purpose of this study is to investigate whether the text book is used effectively in the practical physical education and, if not, to reveal the reason and find the direction and remedy to reform the school physical education curriculum. The subjects of this survey were 182 of teachers and 1,671 of students and the results were analyzed by using SAS package program. The main results obtained can be summarized as following : First, although students are interested in the class of physical education, there is no variety in the class of both theory and practice. Second, the text book is unsystematically used in the class of the physical education theory. Although students recognized the text book to be used in the class, the contents of the text book did not satisfy students. Third, in the class of the practice, the text book's practicability is not so high. And the class is mainly conducted by the sports game like soccer, basketball, etc. Forth, there are examination in physical education both theory and practice. In this case, the text book is useful. From the result of this study, we can find that teachers and students relatively want to use the text book in the class of physical education. However, there are many problems in the contents and the practicability of the text book is very low.

      • 흙의 다짐에 있어서 最大乾燥密度와 最適含水比의 推定에 對하여

        In order to obtain the prediction of the maximum dry density and the optimum moisture content of soil without soil moisture test, compaction test results from 157 different places either under construction or already completed were analyzed. The analyzed results were as follow The relationship between the maximum dry density and the optimum moisture content of the soil showing a correlation coefficient of 0.96 indicated that there was a high correlation between them. From the above relationship we obtained the equation. ◁그림 삽입▷ (원문을 참조하세요) Equation between the optimum moisture content and the maximum wet density of the soil was ◁그림 삽입▷(원문을 참조하세요), and the values of the optimum moisture content being predicted with the maximum wet density of the soil showed a little difference between those and tested values. The values of the maximum dry density being predicted with the moisture content estimated by the maximum wet density of the soil were within the range of ±5% of its tested values.       • 흙의 密度와 含水比가 剪斷强度에 미치는 影響

        It has been known that the shear strength of soil is an important design parameter for the foundation of structures, the retaining walls, the slope failures and so forth. In this study, the shear test was performed by using the direct shear apparatus under various degree of the moisture content and the density of the sample soils. The results of the study were summarized as follows; 1. The shear strength of soil increased with increase in the dry density of soil, and at the same level of density of the sample the shear strength of soil showed large values on a good grading of the sample. 2. The cohesion of the soil varied directly with the dry density of it, however the internal friction angle of soil was not affected by the dry density of the sample. 3. The shear strength of sample varied inversly with the moisture content of it, and this phenomenon was apparent on a good grading of sample. 4. The cohesion of soil showed maximum value when the moisture content of the soil reached optimum level and the internal friction angle decreased with increase in the moisture content of it. These phenomena were very obvious on a good grading sample, SDC-1. 5. The cohesion of the soil decreased with increase in void ratio of the sample, but the internal friction angle of the sample didn't show such tendency.

        본 논문은 물리적 공간계획에서 사용되는 도형과 속성정보를 연계하여 이루어지는 공간 정보를 표현하고 저장할 수 있는 개념 구조를 제안한다. 또한 이러한 개념구조를 통하여 데이타의 중복입력을 배제함으로써 자료를 효율적으로 관리할 수 있게 하고, 다양한 공간 분석과 정보의 사용을 편리하게 할 수 있도록 하기 위한 것이다. 여기서 공간정보를 위한 개념 구조로 도형정보는 위상체계를 갖추어야 하고, 속성데이타는 개체-관계 모델을 도입하여 구축되어야 함을 제안하고 있다. This study attempts to provide a conceptual structure for spatial information: both graphic and attribute data, used in the field of physical planning. It sugests a spatial database structure and content to avoid unnecessary data-redundancy in developing and maintaining those data efficiently and to facilitate various spatial analysis and applications of those data. The conceptual structure proposed recommends topological structure for the graphic data and entity-relationship model for the attribute data.

      • 위암환자의 복강내에 투여한 Mitomycin C-Carbon Particle의 Mitomycin 용출에 관한 연구

        Locoregional recurrence is the most common type of recurrence in surgical operation of gastric adenocarcinoma, and peritoneal dissemination is one of the most difficult problems in advanced gastric adenocarcinoma treatment. Because the peritoneal cavity is the most common site of the first recurrence after gastric cancer resection, intraperitoneal chemotherpy seems a logical choice for cancer chemotherapy. The Mitomycin C(MMC) adsorbed by the activated charcoal particles(CH) is relatively released when the drug concentration surrounding the carbon particles becomes low in the peritoneum of the peritoneal cavity. For the intraperitoneal chemotherapy on the advanced gastric adenocarcnoma, mitomycin C adsorbed on activated carbon particles was administered in the peritoneal cavity just before abdominal wall closure. The closed drainage tubes were inserted in the peritoneal cavity and clamped for tuo hours after completion of operation. MMC concentrations were serially measured in peritoneal fluid, plasma and urine at 2hour, 48 hour, 72 hour and 168 hour following its administration in order to study the efficacy of the MMC-CH as a drug delivery system. There were minimal toxicities in born marrow, liver, and gastrointestinal system after intraperitoneal MMC-CH administration. The data of this study suggested that MMC-CH may have a somewhat more beneficial effect than surgery alone when administered in optimal dose and schedules, but the MMC concentration of the peritoneal fluid was not sufficient to eradicate remnant cancer cells, and effective duration of maintenance was only below 24 hours in the peritoneal fluid and plasma.
