Influence of High-energy electron-beam on photocatalytic activity of TiO₂ films on carbon-fiber deposited by atomic layer deposition

High-energy electron-beam with energy of 1MeV was used for modifying surface structure of TiO<SUB>2</SUB> thin films on carbon fiber prepared by using atomic layer deposition under atmospheric pressure. TiO<SUB>2</SUB> nanoparticles (∼20nm) on carbon fiber underwent structural modification of the surface upon electron-beam treatment, resulting in enhanced photocatalytic activity. In contrast, a thicker film of TiO<SUB>2</SUB> did not show such changes in surface structure and photocatalytic activity by electron-beam treatment. We demonstrate that electron-beam can be used for modifying surface structure of photocatalysts consisting of nanoparticles for improvement of their activity.

Temporal and Spatial Displacement in Black Homelessness in August Wilson`s Fences

The quickly changing African American experience in the 1960s with the Civil Rights movement and many others, and the people’s struggles coping with even the positive changes are most blatantly yet subtly depicted in August Wilson’s Fences. Baseball is the most prominent theme by which he expresses the fortunes and misfortunes of his characters, mainly the Maxson family, and while this metaphor seems relevant and positive, it is also destructive to Troy and his family. The sense of being protected by fences as well as feeling limited by these fences begins blurring the sense of home or rather, homelessness and what it means to have a true home or not. This problem is especially pertinent to the contemporary black males who need to play the role of the patriarch, and who seem to be gaining by the changing atmosphere, yet cannot seem to accept the changes because of the fear of being left behind in history. All elements and motifs are double-edged swords in this play, but the men in the Maxson family slowly progress despite obstacles-especially family feuds-reflecting the new era to come.

중학교 학생선수의 성취목표성향이 훈련태도 및 운동전념에 미치는 영향

본 연구는 중학교 학생선수의 성취목표성향이 훈련태도와 운동전념에 미치는 영향을 규명하고, 훈련태도와 운동전념을 향상시키는 기초자료를 제공하는데 목적이 있다. 본 연구의 목적 달성을 위하여 대한체육회 또는 협회에 등록되어 대회에 참가하며, 운동과 공부를 병행하는 중학교 학생선수 207명을 표본대상으로 설문조사를 실시하고, 설문에 불성실한 답을 한 17명을 제외한 190명으로 연구를 실시하였다. SPSS 26을 이용하여 분석 목적에 따라 탐색적 요인분석 및 신뢰도 분석, 일원분산분석, 상관관계분석, 중다회귀분석을 통해 다음과 같은 결론을 도출하였다. 첫째, 학년별 성취목표성향의 차이는 1학년보다 2학년의 과제성향이 높으며, 선수경력에 따른 성취목표성향의 차이는 유의한 차이가 없는 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 과제성향이 높아질수록 긍정적인 훈련태도(성취, 흥미/열의)가 높아지며, 자아성향이 높아지면 부정적인 훈련태도(방관)가 높아진다. 셋째, 과제성향이 높아질수록 인지전념과 행위전념이 높아진다. 결론적으로 중학교 학생선수들은 과제성향이 높아질수록 훈련에 참여하는 긍정적인 태도나 운동전념이 향상되는 것을 알 수 있다. 따라서 지도자들은 선수들의 과제성향을 향상시켜준다면 선수들은 보다 긍정적인 태도 및 높은 전념을 보일 것이다. The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of the middle school student athletes’ achievement goal orientation on training attitudes and sports commitments and to provide basic data to improve training attitudes and sports commitment. To achieve the purpose of this study, a survey was conducted on 207 middle school student athletes who are registered with Korean Sport & Olympic Committee or association, participated in the competition and both study and work out. This study was conducted with 190 players, excluding 17 who responded insincerely to the survey. Using SPSS 26, the following conclusions were drawn through exploratory factor analysis and reliability analysis, t-test, one-way analysis of variance, correlation analysis, and multiple regression analysis according to the purpose of the analysis. First, in analysis for the difference in achievement goal orientation by grade, task orientation is higher in the second grade than in the first grade. Second, as the task orientation increases, positive training attitudes (achievement, interest/enthusiasm) increase, and as ego orientation increases, negative training attitudes (overlook) increase. Third, as the task orientation increases, cognitive commitment and behavior commitment increase. In conclusion, it can be seen that the higher the task orientation of middle school student athletes, the better their positive attitude or sports commitment to participate in training. Therefore, if leaders improve their task orientation, players will show a more positive attitude and high commitment.

This paper tries to explain urban poverty with the dialectical interaction of capital, power, space and social group. Urban poverty is as a socio-spacial phenomenon the unequal consequence to distribute social critical resources such as capital, power, space and social group between the rich and the poor on urban as a central place. For the capital accumulation and social exclusion of social resources, capital and power produce urban poverty which involves urban poor and urban poor area. In Squatter or slum where urban poor settle down densely, the unequal distribution of social critical resources among its residents copies the unequal structure of the whole urban society which products the urban poverty and urban squatter as the result of the socio-spatial exclusion. Urban squatter as a urban poor area might become the incubator of urban poverty. However, for the capital accumulation and social exclusion of social resources, capital and power brake down urban squatter. It would scatter urban poor among the whole area of city, or stimulate the replacement of urban squatter to the new place in the fringe area of city, in steady of solving urban poverty.

Hyn-dai Group released the comprehensive plan or Keum-Kang Mt. Tourism Development recently. The plan seems to give negative impacts on the natural environment of Keum-Kang Mt. area which is its primary attractiveness. The contents of the comprehensive plan should be analysed from the sustainable tourism development which could achieve the objectives of natural environment preservation, maximization of positive tourism impacts on the region, and the project feasibility of tourism enterprises. The plan was found not to meet the above criteria because tourist accomodations such as hotels and condominium were planned to be developed at the each development unit where has outstanding natural landscape. The construction of tourist hotels and condominium is likely to destruct the natural environment of each tourist area. In addition, the total number of hotel rooms at Keum-Kang Mt. area will result in seasonality problem because of its magnitude. The honey pot system could be applied to attract overnight tourists into the honey pot which is layed in the existing city where all the accommodation will be intensively constructed. Tong-chon could play a honey pot role in Keum-Kang Mt. tourism development area. By concentrating all the accommodation in the honey pot, seasonality problem could be mitigated and its natural environment could be preserved in addition to maximizing positive tourism impact on the region.

HDAC Inhibition by Valproic Acid Induces Neuroprotection and Improvement of PD-like Behaviors in LRRK2 R1441G Transgenic Mice

Parkinson’s disease (PD) is one of the late-onset neurodegenerative movement disorder. Major pathological markers of PD include progressive loss of dopaminergic neurons, Lewy body formation, genetic mutations, and environmental factors. Epigenetic regulation of specific gene expression via impaired histone acetylation is associated with neuronal dysfunction in various neurodegenerative diseases. In this study, we hypothesized that histone deacetylase (HDAC) inhibitor, valproic acid (VPA), can improve motor function by enhancing cell survival in PD genetic model mice with LRRK2 R1441G mutation. To address this question, we administered VPA in LRRK2 R1441G transgenic mice to determine whether VPA affects 1) histone acetylation and HDAC expression, 2) dopaminergic neuron survival, 3) inflammatory responses, 4) motor or non-motor symptoms. As results, VPA administration increased histone acetylation level and the number of tyrosine hydroxylase (TH) positive neurons in substantia nigra of LRRK2 R1441G mice. VPA reduced iba-1 positive activated microglia and the mRNA levels of pro-inflammatory marker genes in LRRK2 R1441G mice. In addition, VPA induced the improvement of PD-like motor and non-motor behavior in LRRK2 R1441G mice. These data suggest that the inhibition of HDAC can be further studied as potential future therapeutics for PD
