        서유구(徐有購)의 복식관(服飾觀)

        This study empirically examined Seo Yu-gu[徐有購]`s views on constumes that are based on ``Boksikjigu[服飾之具]`` of Seomyongji[贍用志] in Imwonkyungjeji[林園經濟志]. In ``Boksikjigu``, Seo Yu-gu explained different situations and problems that were related to costumes and proposed solutions for the problems, This study examined the contents, and divide the items into caps, accessories, and clothes, The results of this study were as follows, First, Seo Yu-gu in he rited the tradition of erudition, Seo Yu-gu classified various costume items systematically, and explained in detail about the origin, history and materials of the costume items. Second, he emphasized frugality, effective use, and welfare. Seo Yu-gu argued that the sleeves should be shortened for convenience and tried to improve practicality in the functional aspect. Also, he wanted to enrich people`s life by improving the convenience of goods used in daily life. Third, he tried to establish identity as a Confucian intellect. This idea was clearly shown in ``costumes``; therefore, they served as evidences that Seo Yu-gu used to correct wrong practices through precise historical investigation and review of Shim-ui[深衣], the symbol of the practice of Jujagarye[朱子家禮]. In his later years, he discovered the plain dress that was worn as a casual wear by ZhuXi[朱熹]and tried to wear it in dailylife.

        하서 김인후의 도학사상의 정치적 실천과 후대의 평가

        河西 金麟厚(1510~1560)는 16세기 중엽에 道學의 純正性을 지켜 후생들을 啓導한 공이 크며, 또한 성리학의 이론전개와 활성화에도 지대한 역할을 한 것으로 평가 받고 있다. 尤庵 宋時烈은 하서의 학문을 ‘集成'으로 표현했고 정조는 “도학 절의 문장을 다 갖춘 사람은 하서 한 사람뿐이다.”라 상찬하였다. 하서에 대한 이러한 존숭은 지고한 도학 완성이며 유학이 추구하는 至治의 최고 가치를 성취한 大成이었음을 증언하는 것으로 이런 평가는 하서의 도학적 삶의 내용에 대한 호기심과 아울러 정밀한 학문적 고찰을 하게 된 배경이 되었음을 밝힌다. 그런 의미에서 본문은 도학자 하서의 天命·道統관과 그의 생애에 녹아 있는 純正 도학자적 행적부분을 발췌 확인하는데 초점을 맞추었다. 또한 정조의 ‘해동의 렴계'라거나 ‘동방이학에서 전대에 발하지 않았던 것을 발하여 직접 洛閩의 실추된 통서에 연결시킨 것은 실로 하서로부터 시작되었는데'라 하는 진의도 함께 살펴 볼 것이다. Mencius' saying that "human mentality is good" will be said to have contributed to human history by promoting human value and dignity to heavenly God at a jump. It can be said to be the gospel letting even man who deviated from the way of Heaven for a short time expect that his nature will be restored. Mencius provided academic grounds to the natural rights of man by saying that every man has the nature endowed him with by heaven, that the nature is, that is, his natural disposition and that the disposition is the benevolent mind consisting of the four virtues, namely, the will of Heaven. We lead the van of modern times past 500 years after Ha seo a man of virtue passed away. It is insignificant to compare rapidly changing life environments in the spatiotemporal difference of the years. Yet only the will of Heaven flowing in the mind of human inside is eternal. If so, how can 'a moral point of life' hoped by Ha seo be defined? It can be said to be the life that "true I" as the master of human life live as "the master". Thus, I believe that a study on Ha seo' 'A moral point of life' will be a help to cultivating judgment with which to discriminate the truth of the value of human life covered by falsehood and restoring the divine will.

        Effects of injection of hydrolysis plasma protein solution on the antioxidant properties in porcine M. Longissimus Lumborum

        Background: Plasma protein hydrolysates have been shown to possess antioxidant activity. However, no report has yet to examine the antioxidant effects of injection of plasma protein hydrolysates on meat quality. Therefore, in this study, the effects of injection of hydrolysis plasma protein solution on meat quality and storability were investigated in porcine M. longissimus lumborum. Methods: Twelve pigs were randomly selected at a commercial slaughter plant and harvested. Dissected loins were injected with one of five solutions: C- control (untreated), T1- 10 mM phosphate buffer solution (PBS), T2- 10 mM PBS with 0.01 % butylated hydroxytoluene, T3- 10 mM PBS with 5 % plasma proteins, and T4- 10 mM PBS with 5 % hydrolysis plasma proteins. Results: T3 and T4 induced greater reduction in protein content of the loin muscle than other treatments. T2 resulted in the lowest pH as well as highest cooking loss. After a storage period of 3-7 days, both lightness and redness of meat were unaffected by all injection treatments. However, yellowness was significantly elevated by treatment with T4 relative to the control. T4 also resulted in the lowest shear force (a measure of meat toughness), suggesting improvement of texture or tenderness. Further, T4 resulted in the most stable TBARS values during storage, indicating that this treatment might retard rancidity in meat. Conclusion: Injection of porcine M. longissimus lumborum with hydrolysis plasma protein solution could improve overall pork quality, including tenderness and storability.

        Downregulation of fungal cytochrome c peroxidase expression by antifungal quinonemethide triterpenoids

        To handle the development of antifungal drug resistance, the development of new structural modules and new modes of action for antifungals have been highlighted recently. Here, the antifungal activity of quinonemethidal triterpenoids such as celastrol, dihydrocelastrol, iguestein, pristimerin, and tingenone isolated from Tripterygium regelii were identified (MIC $0.269-19.0{\mu}M$). C. glabrata was the most susceptible to quinonemethide among the tested fungi. Furthermore, quinonemethide suppressed cyctochrome c peroxidase expression dramatically, decreasing fungal viability caused by the accumulation of hydrogen peroxide. Thus, cyctochrome c peroxidase downregulation of quinonemethide may be a key mode of action for antifungals.

        Optimized Conditions for In Situ Immobilization of Lipase in Aldehyde-silica Packed Columns

        Optimal conditions for the in situ immobilization of lipase in aldehyde-silica packed columns, via reductive amination, were investigated. A reactant mixture, containing lipase and sodium borohydride (NaCBH), was recirculated through an aldehyde-silica packed column, such that the covalent bonding of the lipase, via amination between the amine group of the enzyme and the aldehyde terminal of the silica, and the reduction of the resulting imine group by NaCBH, could occur inside the bed, in situ. Mobile phase conditions in the ranges of pH $7.0{\~}7.8$, temperatures between $22{\~}28^{circ}C$ and flow rates from $0.8{\~}1.5\;BV/min$ were found to be optimal for the in situ immobilization, which routinely resulted in an immobilization of more than 70 mg­lipase/g-silica. Also, the optimal ratio and concentration for feed reactants in the in situ immobilization: mass ratio [NaCBH]/[lipase] of 0.3, at NaCBH and lipase concentrations of 0.75 and 2.5 g/L, respectively, were found to display the best immobilization characteristics for concentrations of up to 80 mg-lipase/g-silica, which was more than a 2-fold increase in immobilization compared to that obtained by batch immobilization. For tributyrin hydrolysis, the in situ immobilized lipase displayed lower activity per unit mass of enzyme than the batch-immobilized or free lipase, while allowing more than a $45\%$ increase in lipase activity per unit mass of silica compared to batch immobilization, because the quantity of the immobilization on silica was aug­mented by the in situ immobilization methodology used in this study.

        Enzymatic Characteristics of a Highly Thermostable β-(1-4)-Glucanase from Fervidobacterium islandicum AW-1 (KCTC 4680)

        A highly thermostable β-(1-4)-glucanase (NA23_08975) gene (fig) from Fervidobacterium islandicum AW-1, a native-feather degrading thermophilic eubacterium, was cloned and expressed in Escherichia coli. The recombinant FiG (rFiG) protein showed strong activity toward β-D-glucan from barley (367.0 IU/mg), galactomannan (174.0 IU/mg), and 4- nitrophenyl-cellobioside (66.1 IU/mg), but relatively weak activity was observed with hydroxyethyl cellulose (5.3 IU/mg), carboxymethyl cellulose (2.4 IU/mg), and xylan from oat spelt (1.4 IU/mg). rFiG exhibited optimal activity at 90oC and pH 5.0. In addition, this enzyme was extremely thermostable, showing a half-life of 113 h at 85oC. These results indicate that rFiG could be used for hydrolysis of cellulosic and hemicellulosic biomass substrates for biofuel production.

        Relationship between body size traits and carcass traits with primal cuts yields in Hanwoo steers

        Objective: This study was conducted to evaluate the correlation between body size traits, carcass traits, and primal cuts in Hanwoo steers. Methods: Sixty-one beef carcasses were classified for conformation and primal cut weight. Additionally, carcass weight, fat thickness, carcass dimensions, and longissimus muscle area were determined to complement the grading. Results: The average live weight and cold carcass weight were 759 and 469 kg, respectively. The mean carcass meat, fat, and bone proportions were 551, 298, and 151 g/kg, respectively. Primal cuts weights showed significant positive correlations (p<0.001) of 0.42 to 0.82 with live weight, carcass weight, and longissimus muscle area and a significant negative correlation with carcass fat (without shank, -0.38 to -0.10). Primal cut weights were positively correlated (p<0.01) with carcass length (0.41 to 0.77), forequarter length (0.33 to 0.57), 6th lumbar vertebrae-heel length (0.33 to 0.59), 7th cervical vertebrae carcass breadth (0.35 to 0.58), 5th to 6th thoracic vertebrae breadth (0.36 to 0.65), 7th to 8th thoracic vertebrae girth (0.38 to 0.63), and coxae girth (0.34 to 0.56) and non-significantly related to cervical vertebrae length and coxae thickness. Conclusion: There was a high correlation among live weight, carcass weight, longissimus muscle area, carcass length, 7th cervical vertebrae carcass breadth, 5th to 6th thoracic vertebrae breadth, and 7th to 8th thoracic vertebrae girth of the primal cuts yield. The correlation between fat and primal cut yields was highly significant and negative. Carcass length and 7th to 8th thoracic vertebrae girth, appear to be the most important traits affecting primal cut yields.

        너구리 담낭 섭취 후 Helicobacter heilmannii-like Organism으로 유발된 위궤양 1예

        Recently, there was growing interest in a gastric spiral-shaped bacterium morphologically deviating from Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori), which was classified as Helicobacter heilmannii (H. heilmannii). It rarely inhabits human species whereas the observation of structurally comparable bacteria in other mammals, including cats and dogs, is a commonplace. Therefore, it is now generally recognized that H. heilmannii is an animal Helicobacter, which is occasionally transmitted to man. H. heilmannii is usually associated with chronic gastritis. Here, we described a case of gastric ulcer caused by spiral bacteria morphologically identical to H. heilmannii. The patient complained of epigastric pain over a two day period. He took the gallbldder of a wild raccoon dog 7 days before. Upper gastrointesinal endoscopy revealed multiple geographic gastric ulcers in the distal body and antrum. After eraidication of another Helicobacter spp, H. heilmannii, the symptom resolved completely in 4 days. Eight weeks later, a follow-up endoscopy showed complete healing of the ulcer.
