        심장혈관용 약물코팅풍선카테터의 개발 동향

        급격한 고령화 사회로의 진입과 서구화된 식습관에 의해 협심증, 심근경색증, 고혈압 등에 의한 심장질환자의 수가 5년간 10만명 이상 증가했다. 심장질환은 지난 8년간 꾸준히 국내 사망원인 2위를 기록 중이며, 이로 인해 연간 소모되는 의료비는 6조원에 달한다. 증가한 환자와 함께 다양한 치료법이 제시되고 있는 가운데, 현재 보편화 된 관상동맥 중재시술 중 스텐트 삽입술의 단점인 재협착이나 장기간 이중항혈소판제 복용으로 인한 출혈의 위험 증가 등의 문제점을 보완하기 위해 약물코팅풍선카테터가 개발되어 점차 상용화되고 있는데, 국내에선 2010년 ‘SeQuent Please<sup>Ⓡ</sup> (비브라운코리아)’라는 제품이 처음 출시되면서 약물코팅풍선카테터를 사용한 시술이 시작되었고, 이후 2012년 보험급여가 적용되면서 그 사용량이 본격적으로 늘어났다. 약물코팅풍선치료는 국내뿐만 아니라 전 세계적으로 사용이 증가하고 있는데, 특히 일본을 포함한 아시아태평양 지역에서 그 사용량이 급격히 증가하고 있다. 현재까지 국산 제품의 수요가 증가하고 있는 상황이며 향후, 동물시험 및 임상시험에서의 성능이 입증된다면 위험성이 높은 스텐트 삽입술에 비해 효과적인 시술이 될 것이라 예상한다. As a result of the rapid entry into an aging society and westernized eating habits, the number of heart disease patients caused by angina pectoris, myocardial infarction, and high blood pressure has increased by more than 100,000 over five years. Heart disease has consistently ranked second in the cause of death in Korea over the past eight years, and medical expenses consumed annually reach 6 trillion won. While various treatments are being proposed for more patients, drug-coated balloon catheters have been developed and gradually commercialized to solve the disadvantages of stent implantation such as restenosis and increased risk of bleeding due to long-term double antiplatelet medication. In Korea, it began to use a drug-coated balloon catheter with the first release of it called “SeQuent Please<sup>Ⓡ</sup> (Bibrown Korea)” in 2010. Its demand increased gradually as insurance benefits were applied in 2012. Drug-coated balloon angioplasty is increasing in use not only in Korea but also around the world, especially in the Asia-Pacific region, including Japan. Until now, the demand for domestic products is increasing, and if the efficiency in vivo and clinical trials is proven in the future, it is expected to be an effective procedure compared to high-risk stent implantation.

      • Distribution of Matsumoto Mealybug, Crisicoccus matsumotoi (Hemiptera: Pseudococcidae) in Pear Orchards and Susceptibility to Insecticides

        In Korea, six mealybug species have been reported on pears. This study investigated the occurrence of mealybugs in 19 pear orchards from 2013 to 2014. Two species, Crisicoccus matsumotoi (Siraiwa) (Hemiptera: Pseudococcidae) and Pseudococcus comstocki (Kuwana) were mainly found. The dominant species was C. matsumotoi identified on 73% of infested fruit. Toxicities of 14 registered insecticides (7 single formulations and 7 mixed formulations) commonly used to control P. comstocki were evaluated to C. matsumotoi nymphs and adults at the recommended concentration. As a results, all insecticides exhibited strong insecticidal activity with 100% mortality of both nymphs and adults. These results indicate that the 14 insecticides can be used in control for C. matsumotoi in field.

        Evaluation of Genetic Diversity among Korean Wheat Using RAPD and ISSR Analysis

        The genetic diversity was evaluated using RAPD and ISSR among natural populations and Korean wheat cultivars (Triticum aestivum). Understanding the genetic diversity of putative parental and wild stocks would be useful in wheat breeding programs. Ninety three populations were evaluated with fifty RAPD and three ISSR primers. A total of 185 RAPD and ISSR polymorphism were produced. These markers were considered to estimate the genetic distance among accessions. The genetic similarity ranged from 0.41 to 0.86. The dendrogram were constructed by using the UPGMA clustering algorithm based on genetic similarity. The genetic diversity within and among accession was assessed through Principal Component Analysis (PCA) for statistics analysis. In cluster analysis, four groups were clustered and 17 accessions were not clustered. The PCA was corresponded well to the result. This study provides basic information about the genetic relationships for breeding purposes.

      • Effect of augmented atypical antipsychotics on weight change in patients with major depressive disorder in a naturalistic setting

        <B>Objective</B><P>The extent of weight changes in depressed patients who use atypical antipsychotics (AAP) as augmentation could not be easily predicted due to weight related symptoms of depression and the interaction with antidepressants which have weight reducing effects.</P><B>Methods</B><P>Patients were treated with either antidepressants augmented with AAP for more than 2 weeks (AAP group, n = 100) or only with antidepressants (non-AAP group, n = 172) during the admission between 2002 and 2006, and the differences in weight were analyzed.</P><B>Results</B><P>Mean weight gains of AAP group were significantly higher than those of non-AAP group (2.98 ± 1.87 kg vs. 1.70 ± 1.85 kg, p = 0.001). When stratified by antidepressants, the significant difference between the two groups was shown among the subjects who had taken serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs), but not mirtazapine and venlafaxine (3.42 ± 2.01 kg vs. 1.48 ± 1.79 kg, p < 0.001). Comparing among different combinations in AAP group showed that subjects treated with SSRIs and olanzapine had the greatest weight gain (4.21 ± 1.90 kg), significantly higher than that of the other subgroups (p < 0.001).</P><B>Conclusions</B><P>Our findings suggest that AAP used in patients with depression could severely aggravate preexisting weight-related problems of antidepressants use and the possibility that the combined use with specific antidepressants could have a unique effect on weight by drug–drug interactions.       • A high-power MMIC VCO utilizing metamorphic HEMT technology

        <P>A high-power monolithic microwave integrated circuit voltage controlled oscillator (MMIC VCO) that can drive optical devices such as an electro-absorption and an electro-optic modulators is presented. A common-gate metamorphic HEMT (MHEMT) with 0.2 mm of gate width in conjunction with inductive feedback was used to generate negative resistance. The low-loss coplanar waveguide transmission line on the 650 μm-thick metamorphic GaAs substrate was utilized to minimize loss. The maximum generated output power of the MHEMT VCO was 40.1 mW at 24.1 GHz when biased at V<SUB>ds</SUB> = 3.8 V and V<SUB>gs</SUB> = −0.44 V. Phase noise and frequency tuning range were estimated to be −93.4 dBc/Hz at 1 M Hz offset and 1 GHz, respectively.         Chemical Constituents of <i>Apios americana</i> Tubers and Their Inhibitory Activities on Nitric Oxide Production in Lipopolysaccharide-Stimulated RAW 264.7 Macrophages

        <P><I>Apios americana</I> is an important food crop producing edible tubers with high nutritional and medicinal values and is widely cultivated in many countries. Despite its usefulness, research on its secondary metabolites and biological activities has been limited. In the present study, a new coumaronochromone, (2<I>R</I>,3<I>S</I>)-3,7,4′-trihydroxy-5-methoxycoumaronochromone (<B>1</B>), and two new isoflavone glucosides, 7,2′,4′-trihydroxy-5-methoxyisoflavone-4′-<I>O</I>-β-<SMALL>D</SMALL>-glucopyranoside (<B>3</B>) and 5,7,4′-trihydroxyisoflavone-7-<I>O</I>-β-<SMALL>D</SMALL>-gentiotrioside (<B>5</B>), were isolated from the tubers of <I>A. americana</I> via chromatographic separation. Seventeen known compounds (<B>2</B>, <B>4</B>, and <B>6</B>-<B>20</B>) were also obtained from this plant part. The chemical structures of <B>1</B>, <B>3</B>, and <B>5</B> were determined by the interpretation of spectroscopic data. The absolute structure of the new compound <B>1</B> was established from experimental and calculated electronic circular dichroism spectra. This is the first study to determine the absolute configuration of a 3-hydroxycoumaronochromone derivative. The potential anti-inflammatory activity of the 20 isolates obtained was evaluated by measuring their inhibitory effects on nitric oxide production in lipopolysaccharide-stimulated RAW 264.7 macrophages. Among the isolates, seven compounds (<B>1</B>, <B>3</B>, <B>6</B>-<B>8</B>, <B>15</B>, and <B>20</B>) showed substantial inhibition of nitric oxide production in RAW 264.7 cells, with the most active being compound <B>1</B> (IC<SUB>50</SUB> value of 0.38 ± 0.04 μM).</P> [FIG OMISSION]</BR>

        Effect of Friction Modifier on Rolling Contact Fatigue and Wear of Wheel and Rail Materials

        <P>In this study, the effects of a friction modifier (FM) on wear and rolling contact fatigue were investigated by twin-disc testing under various conditions. It was found that the contact fatigue damage occurred on the rail specimen under the FM condition and the water condition. The test under FM condition was performed under three different spraying times: 0.2, 0.5, and 1.0 s. The progress of contact fatigue damage severely increases at a spraying time of 0.2 s. Contact fatigue damage under the FM condition occurred faster than that under the water condition. Results show that the friction modifier induced a mixed condition that exists at the same time as the wet condition and the dry condition. Cracks were initiated by the traction force due to the friction of the dry condition and the crack growth rate became faster due to the fluid entrapment mechanism under the wet condition. Therefore, the amount of FM should be evaluted to avoid severe contact fatigue damage.</P>

      • Weight-in-Motion-Based Ambient Truck Characteristic Identification in Highway Bridges

        <P>Ambient truck classification and weight data have been used in numerous transportation applications, focusing on highway safety. Specifically, ambient truck characteristics identified from Weight-In-Motion (WIM) data obtained from vehicle weigh stations have been considered to be likely candidates to better understand structural response of highway bridges to live-load events. This paper provides a framework to explicitly identify WIM-based ambient truck characteristics specific to highway bridges of interest. As an application of the framework, a highway steel I-girder bridge in the United States was selected and a network of strain sensors was installed on the bridge deck. Multiple strain time history data sets resulting from ambient trucks were measured and evaluated via a structural health monitoring (SHM) system with strain sensors. Each set of strain data representing a single truck, which cross the bridge, was used to identify its features, such as axle numbers and spacings. WIM trucks specific to each set were also characterized by examining the monitored strain time history patterns. These patterns make it possible to the identification of ambient WIM truck configurations. WIM data were obtained from weigh stations located adjacent the bridge. It is anticipated that this work will result in the creation of ambient truck pools on a specific bridge. Their pools will be used as live load inputs in the bridge model to investigate the structural behavior and to evaluate the bridge health conditions..</P>
