        ON QUANTUM CODES FROM CYCLIC CODES OVER A CLASS OF NONCHAIN RINGS

        In this paper, we extend the results given in [3] to a nonchain ring $R_p={\mathbb{F}}_p+v{\mathbb{F}}_p+{\cdots}+v^{p-1}{\mathbb{F}}_p$, where $v^p=v$ and p is a prime. We determine the structure of the cyclic codes of arbitrary length over the ring $R_p$ and study the structure of their duals. We classify cyclic codes containing their duals over $R_p$ by giving necessary and sufficient conditions. Further, by taking advantage of the Gray map ${\pi}$ defined in [4], we give the parameters of the quantum codes of length pn over ${\mathbb{F}}_p$ which are obtained from cyclic codes over $R_p$. Finally, we illustrate the results by giving some examples.

      • New In-Pipe Robot Capable of Coping with Various Diameters

        This paper describes a new robot capable of inspecting pipes with different diameters. The robot is composed of units and connecting links. One unit is used for the robot to move in a straight pipe, while two or more units are needed to move and turn in a divergent pipe. Several experiments are conducted in the pipes with different diameters, and the effectiveness of the mechanism of the robot is confirmed.

        Since late 2010, the Arab World has witnessed regime changes in Tunisia, Egypt and Libya; and revolts by Arab citizens are still underway in Syria, Bahrain and Yemen, along with reform initiatives at different levels. These processes cannot be accurately be described by Orientalist terms such as ``Arab Spring``, ``Arab unrest`` or the ``Facebook Revolution``, where such categorizations fail to account for the radical transformation in politics and values that the Arab World is undergoing and the significance that resides in the confluence of social and democratic demands. The ultimate fate of these popular uprisings remains in the balance, but it is all too clear that they have produced the most dramatic changes in the region since the mid-twentieth century which marked the end of the colonial era. This article aims to elucidate the import of term ``the people`` and to whom it applies in the popular slogan: ``The people want the overthrow of the regime`` (al-sha`b yurid isqat al-nizam). It aims to identify the actors involved in the revolution, particularly the youth and participants among the labour movement. Through this analysis the study explores the new political subjectivity ushered in by these revolutions, in the specific form of individuality, or what is termed here reflexive individualism. This individualism, which is different from the neoliberal concept, is not a straightforward one predicated on anti-patriarchal authority, anti-tribe, anti-community or anti-political party sentiments. The political subjectivity of the individuals who have taken part is formed and shaped both within and across the shadowy edges of political institutions and their production of legitimacy and knowledge.

        Shear bond strength of indirect composite material to monolithic zirconia

        PURPOSE. This study aimed to evaluate the effect of surface treatments on bond strength of indirect composite material (Tescera Indirect Composite System) to monolithic zirconia (inCoris TZI). MATERIALS AND METHODS. Partially stabilized monolithic zirconia blocks were cut into with 2.0 mm thickness. Sintered zirconia specimens were divided into different surface treatment groups: no treatment (control), sandblasting, glaze layer & hydrofluoric acid application, and sandblasting + glaze layer & hydrofluoric acid application. The indirect composite material was applied to the surface of the monolithic zirconia specimens. Shear bond strength value of each specimen was evaluated after thermocycling. The fractured surface of each specimen was examined with a stereomicroscope and a scanning electron microscope to assess the failure types. The data were analyzed using one-way analysis of variance (ANOVA) and Tukey LSD tests (${\alpha}$=.05). RESULTS. Bond strength was significantly lower in untreated specimens than in sandblasted specimens (P<.05). No difference between the glaze layer and hydrofluoric acid application treated groups were observed. However, bond strength for these groups were significantly higher as compared with the other two groups (P<.05). CONCLUSION. Combined use of glaze layer & hydrofluoric acid application and silanization are reliable for strong and durable bonding between indirect composite material and monolithic zirconia.

        Background: Obesity, accumulation of excessive adipose tissue, is a risk factor of cardiovascular diseases. Human adipocytes produce asymmetrical dimethyl arginine (ADMA) an inhibitor nitric oxide synthase which has important role in endothel dysfunction, and express the full enzymatic machinery responsible for ADMA metabolism (biosynthesis and degradation). Life style modifi cation and metformin have lowering body weight and ADMA level effects. This study intends to fi nd out whether life style modifi cation with metformin in obese subjects can make the improvement of ADMA level better. Methods: This was a randomized double blind clinical trial held in 12 weeks on 40 obese subjects which divided into 2 group, life style modification plus metformin group and life style modifi cation plus placebo group. Antropometric parametre and ADMA level were measured before and after intervention. Results: After intervention, there were decreament in ADMA level, body weight, waist circumfrence and body mass index in both group. Mean of ADMA reduction in metformin versus placebo group was 0,0235 ± 0,12 ug/l vs 0,03 ± 0,1ug/l (p=0,726). Mean of weight reduction in metformin versus placebo group was 3,88 ± 1,23 kg vs 2,36 ± 1,12 kg (p=0,0001). Mean of waist circumfrence reduction in metformin versus placebo group was 6,39 ± 0,99 cm vs 5,75 ± 1,71 cm (p=0,0001). Mean of body mass index reduction in metformin and placebo group was 1,76 ± 0,85 kg/m2 vs 1,08 ± 0,61 kg/m2 (p=0,0001). Conclusions: Implementation of lifestyle modification in 12 weeks could improve some antropometric parametres but addition of metformin did not improve the ADMA level signifi cantly in obese subjects.

        ONE-HOMOGENEOUS WEIGHT CODES OVER FINITE CHAIN RINGS

        This paper determines the structures of one-homogeneous weight codes over finite chain rings and studies the algebraic properties of these codes. We present explicit constructions of one-homogeneous weight codes over finite chain rings. By taking advantage of the distance-preserving Gray map defined in [7] from the finite chain ring to its residue field, we obtain a family of optimal one-Hamming weight codes over the residue field. Further, we propose a generalized method that also includes the examples of optimal codes obtained by Shi et al. in [17].

        Anatomical Structures and Fiber Quality of Four Lesser-Used Wood Species Grown in Indonesia

        This study aimed to investigate the anatomical structure and fiber quality of four lesser-used wood species namely Benuang (O. sumatrana), Duabanga (D. moluccana), Pisang Merah (H. hellwigii), and Terap (A. odoratissimus). This study evaluated its suitability for raw material in pulp and paper manufacturing. The anatomical structure was observed macro- and microscopically. Macroscopic structures were observed directly to the wood samples, while microscopic characteristics were observed through microtome specimens. Fiber dimension was measured through macerated specimens and fiber quality was analyzed following the Rachman and Siagian's method. Results showed that these four timber species have similarity in the indistinct growth ring, diffuse porous in a radial pattern, rounded solitary vessel outline, 1 to 3 cells of ray width, deposits within the rays, fiber length, and cell wall thickness. Differences were found on vessel diameter, vessel grouping, vessel frequency, tyloses existence, type of axial parenchyma, and ray height. Based on fiber length and its derived values, the wood fibers of all species studied are suitable for pulp and paper manufacturing. They belong to the II quality class. The produced pulp and paper would have good quality, especially in tensile, folding, and tear strength. To promote their utilization, silviculture aspect of these four species has to be well understood.

        Physical activation of carbon residue from biomass gasification: Novel sorbent for the removal of phosphates and nitrates from aqueous solution

        Carbon residue obtained as a by-product fromwood gasification processwas employed as a precursor forpreparing adsorbent by physical activation. Adsorbent with BET surface area 590m2 g 1 and pore volumeof 0.335cm3 g 1 was prepared and used as an adsorbent for phosphate and nitrate removal. The optimalpH and initial concentrations for phosphate and nitrate removal were determined. The kinetics showedthat the adsorption data followed pseudo-second-order kinetics. The isotherm analysis indicated that theadsorption data can be represented by the Langmuir model. Results showed that activated carbon residueis suitable adsorbent for phosphate removal.
