      • Annealing effect on microstructure, hardness and creep properties of the foils of alloy 617

        Sanjeev Kumar Sharma,Feng Xuin Li,Ki-Ju Kang 대한기계학회 2008 대한기계학회 춘추학술대회 Vol.2008 No.5

The rolling and annealing effect on the microstructure and high temperature creep properties of Ni-base alloy 617 foils were investigated. Two types of foil specimens with different thickness reduction were prepared by thermo-mechanical processing, which is a combination of cold rolling and static recrystallization. The thermo mechanical processing (TMP) is a way to considerably influence the grain size. The recrystallization and grain growth were observed readily at both lower and higher annealing temperatures. The grain sizes were strongly dependent on the thickness reduction and the annealing temperature. The grain sizes were observed bigger at higher annealing temperature than lower annealing temperature. Due to the microstructure analysis, the carburization was observed at lower annealing temperature and lower thickness reduction. The uniform coarse grain sizes increase the resistance for creep deformation and crack growth owing to the precipitation hardening. The lower thickness reduction foils were found better creep properties.

Effect of Annealing on the Growth and the Microstructure of Thermally-grown Oxides on Foils of Alloy 617

Sanjeev K. Sharma,김덕영,강기주 한국물리학회 2013 THE JOURNAL OF THE KOREAN PHYSICAL SOCIETY Vol.63 No.9

The effect of annealing on the growth and the microstructure of thermally-grown oxides (TGOs)of foils of alloy 617 were investigated. Oxidation tests were performed on 100 µm thick foils. Threetypes of foils, namely as-rolled (A-R), rolled-annealed at 950 C (R-A:950) and rolled-annealed at1100 C (R-A:1100) were oxidized at 1000 C. The surface and the cross-sectional microstructures, the inter-diffusion behavior and the chemical compositions of the TGOs were investigated by usingscanning electron microscopy (SEM) and energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDX). The surfaceroughness of the TGOs, the voids in the oxide scale, and the cracks in the oxide nodules weresuppressed for the R-A:1100 foils. According to EDX-mapping, the surface oxide was observed tobe chromia (Cr2O3), and internal oxides were observed to be alumina (-Al2O3). Decarburizationwas observed beneath the superficial oxide scales while the thickness of carbide layer increasedtowards the interior of the metal.

Synthesis and characterization of hybrid Ag-ZnO nanocomposite for the application of sensor selectivity

        Sharma, Sanjeev K.,Ghodake, Gajanan S.,Kim, Deuk Young,Kim, Dae-Young,Thakur, O.P. ELSEVIER 2018 CURRENT APPLIED PHYSICS Vol.18 No.4

<P>Facile, rapid, and environmentally benign hybrid Ag-ZnO nanocomposites were synthesized by two steps from green synthesis approach at room temperature. The absence of an impurity peak in X-ray diffraction (XRD) pattern confirmed the formation of polycrystalline nanocomposite material. An additional peak (111) of Ag was detected along with ZnO crystalline wurtzite structure. The surface area electron diffraction (SAED) pattern further confirmed the crystallinity of nanocomposites. The compositional analysis of hybrid Ag-ZnO was determined by EDS-mapping and confirmed the presence of Zn, O and Ag in the composite. The room-temperature photoluminescence (PL) spectra of hybrid Ag-ZnO depict a weak ultraviolet (UV) emission at 385 nm, and the strong visible emission at similar to 600 nm, while increasing the Ag concentration in to ZnO matrix, the UV peak was completely disappeared and major visible peak was moved to similar to 500 nm indicated to the best optimal detection peak for sensors. The fluorescence spectra were measured with respect to Ag concentrations of Ag-ZnO nanocomposite at room temperature to investigate the functionality and the selectivity of nanomaterials. This work opens a notable way to fabricate Ag-ZnO nanohybrids, and makes a significant contribution to the fluorescence based sensor applications. (c) 2018 Elsevier B. V. All rights reserved.</P>

Molecular Characterization of Rathi and Tharparkar Indigenous Cattle (Bos indicus) Breeds by RAPD-PCR

        Sharma, Amit Kumar,Bhushan, Bharat,Kumar, Sanjeev,Kumar, Pushpendra,Sharma, Arjava,Kumar, Satish Asian Australasian Association of Animal Productio 2004 Animal Bioscience Vol.17 No.9

Random amplification of polymorphic DNA-Polymerase Chain Reaction (RAPD-PCR) analysis was carried out using DNA samples of 30 animals of Rathi cattle and 42 animals of Tharparkar cattle. Genomic DNA was isolated as per standard protocol and evaluated for its quality, purity and concentration. Twenty three random primers were screened out of which 15 primers yielded satisfactory amplifications and were used for further analysis. Average numbers of polymorphic fragments per primer were 7.07${\pm}$0.86 in Rathi and 6.80${\pm}$0.61 in Tharparkar cattle. The percentage of polymorphic bands in these two cattle breeds were 86 and 87%, respectively. Within breed genetic similarities for pooled over primers in the animals of Rathi and Tharparkar breeds were .577${\pm}$0.30 and 0.531${\pm}$0.02, respectively on the basis of band frequency (BF) and 0.645${\pm}$0.04 and 0.534${\pm}$0.04, respectively on the basis of band sharing (BS). Averages of between breed genetic similarities for pooled over primers were 0.97 and 0.92 according to BF and BS, respectively, which reflect higher degree of genetic similarity between Rathi and Tharparkar cattle breeds. Index of genetic distance based on BF and BS for pooled over primers was 0.030${\pm}$0.011 and 0.088${\pm}$0.031, respectively. Percentage of polymorphic bands and within-breed genetic similarities on the basis of band frequency (BF) and band sharing (BS) for pooled over primers revealed higher genetic similarity in Rathi than Tharparkar cattle population. High estimates of between breed genetic similarities for pooled over primers indicated that either Rathi is having decent from Tharparkar or both the cattle breeds are having common descent. Low value of Index of genetic distances between these two cattle breeds may be due to the fact that Rathi and Tharparkar cattle breeds are the native of Thar Desert in Northwest India. The results of between breed genetic distances also confirm the existence of high degree of genetic similarity between these two breeds of cattle.

Design, Simulation, Fabrication, Packaging and Testing of an AlGaAs/GaAs Gunn Diode at 94 GHz

Sanjeev K. Sharma,김득영 한국물리학회 2015 THE JOURNAL OF THE KOREAN PHYSICAL SOCIETY Vol.67 No.4

An AlGaAs/GaAs heterostructure Gunn diode was designed, simulated and fabricated at 94 GHz. First, the Gunn diode was simulated by using SILVACO in vertical mode. Thereafter, it was fabricated by using Cl2-based dry etching, metallization and MESA etching with controlled anode diameters. Current-voltage measurements were performed on the fabricated Gunn diode at room temperature, and the results closely matched with the results of the simulation. The current oscillation with transit time was simulated and found to be a coherent oscillation at 100 GHz. The peak current increased from 0.63 to 0.86 A and the oscillation amplitude increased from 75.21 to 98.09 mA as the diameter of the anode was increased from 62 to 70 μm while the threshold voltage was observed to be constant at 2.9 V. The simulation results were observed to be in good agreement with the experiment results.

Heteroleptic Cyclometalated Iridium(III) Complexes Supported by Triarylborylpicolinate Ligand: Ratiometric Turn-On Phosphorescence Response upon Fluoride Binding

        Sharma, Sanjeev,Kim, Hyungjun,Lee, Young Hoon,Kim, Taewon,Lee, Yoon Sup,Lee, Min Hyung American Chemical Society 2014 Inorganic Chemistry Vol.53 No.16

<P>Heteroleptic cyclometalated iridium(III) complexes (C^N)2Ir(Bpic) (<B>4</B>–<B>6</B>) (C^N = <I>dfppy</I> (<B>4</B>), <I>ppy</I> (<B>5</B>), <I>btp</I> (<B>6</B>)) supported by triarylborylpicolinate (Bpic) ancillary ligand were synthesized and characterized. X-ray diffraction study of <B>5</B> confirmed N^O chelation of the Bpic ligand to the iridium center forming an (C^N)2Ir–borane conjugate. While the UV/vis absorption bands of <B>4</B>–<B>6</B> remained almost unchanged in the low-energy region upon fluoride addition, a ratiometric turn-on phosphorescence response was observed for <B>4</B> and <B>5</B>. In contrast, the phosphorescence of <B>6</B> was little affected by fluoride binding. Experimental and theoretical studies suggest that the LUMO in neutral <B>4</B> and <B>5</B> is dominated by the Bpic ligand, which makes the weakly emissive 3ML′CT/3LL′CT (L = C^N; L′ = Bpic) states as the lowest-energy triplet excited state, while the fluoride binding to <B>4</B> and <B>5</B> induces the highly emissive 3MLCT/3ππ* states centered on the (C^N)2Ir moiety. Thermally induced conversion from the 3MLCT/3ππ* to the 3ML′CT/3LL′CT states is suggested to be responsible for the low-energy weak phosphorescence in <B>4</B> and <B>5</B>.</P><P>Heteroleptic (C^N)2Ir(Bpic) complexes supported by N^O chelating triarylborylpicolinate (Bpic) ancillary ligand were synthesized and characterized. Microstructural, optical, and electrochemical properties of nanostructured Al thin films

Sharma, Sanjeev K.,Kim, Deuk Young 한국물리학회 2014 THE JOURNAL OF THE KOREAN PHYSICAL SOCIETY Vol. No.

In the present work, the microstructral, optical, and electrochemical properties of nanostructured Al thin films were studied. Nanostructured Al thin films were prepared on Ti/glass substrates in an e-beam evaporator by using normal and oblique-angle deposition (OAD) techniques. The X-ray diffraction (XRD) pattern showed the (111) peak for all the films regardless of the deposition angle. The crystallite size was calculated to be similar to 25 nm for the sample prepared using OAD at 70 A degrees C. The surface roughness increased from 5.32 to 28.65 nm as the substrate was tilted from 0A degrees to 80A degrees. The highest absorbance was observed for the nanocolumn thin films grown using OAD at 70A degrees, and the best performance was achieved for charging-discharging when the films were used as anodes for Li-ion batteries. The coulombic efficiency was observed to be > 98%.

Histopathological changes in gall bladder mucosa in relation to the number, and size of gallstones, and analysis of the findings in the context of age distribution of the patients: A perspective

        Sanjeev Sharma,Bhupinder Singh Walia,Mandeep Randhawa,Arjun Sharma,Pankaj Dugg,Jiteshwar Singh Pannu 한국간담췌외과학회 2023 Annals of hepato-biliary-pancreatic surgery Vol.27 No.3

Backgrounds/Aims: To study histopathological changes in gall bladder mucosa in cholelithiasis patients, and analyse their relation to the number and size of gallstones. These findings were evaluated in the context of age distribution of the study population. Methods: One hundred cases of cholecystectomy were part of the study, which was conducted in collaboration with the pathology department. The time period of the study was January 2020 to June 2021. Results: Maximum cases had multiple stones (69.0%), while one third cases (31.0%) had solitary stones. While initial univariate analysis showed age (odds ratio [OR], 6.882; p = 0.043), gallstone number (OR, 9.1; p = 0.050), gallstone size (OR, 17.111; p = 0.013), and duration of symptom (OR, 34.125; p = 0.001) to be significant risk factors associated with gallbladder carcinoma, multivariate analysis found none of these variables to be significant. However, conditional multivariate analysis for the duration of symptom (p = 0.008; OR, 21.118) yielded significant p- value. With histopathological diagnoses, 5% of cases had gallbladder cancer. Conclusions: This study shed light on the rising incidence of cholelithiasis in the young population and the high rate of gallbladder carcinoma in Punjab, India. Although gall stone characteristics (size, number) and patient age appeared to be significant risk factors when their individual relation with gallbladder carcinoma was studied, multivariate analysis, could not prove that. Conditional multivariate analysis showed the duration of symptom to be the only significant risk factor associated with gallbladder carcinoma. Further research with larger sample size is needed to study the rising incidence of gallbladder carcinoma, and the risk factors associated with it.
