      • A Case Study on the Types of Metaphor Introduced into Brand Websites : Focused on the websites of top 100 brands worldwide

        Currently, the PR strategies of brand websites tend to appeal experientially and emotionally to users on the manner of involving them in a certain situation analogized or story associated with user experiences beyond visualizing the benefits and features or technological advantages of the brand. Such the strategies seem to be intended to maximize user affinity to information access through absorption and to induce closely the emotional and valuable experience through interactive function, as an example of taking full advantage of media communication technologies together with curiosity induction which is a key to successful advertising strategies. As interactive media have spread rapidly out since the late 1990s, a number of visual communication technologies have emerged actively, and enabled interaction with brands on the Internet. Thus, the image of brand has created proactively its value among consumers, instead of plying a role of just a stationary information object. This fact is meaningful in the light that human communication techniques combined with bran strategies are reinterpreted by a medium called web and reevaluated from the interactive viewpoint. This study aims to define the phase-specific pattern in which human communication information techniques are implemented into a web communication architecture by analyzing the narrative metaphor models introduced into the websites of successful brands worldwide.

        Force spectroscopy of membrane hardness of SH-SY5Y neuroblastoma cells before and after differentiation

        Atomic force microscopy (AFM) is utilized in many studies for measuring the structure and the physical characteristics of soft and bio materials. In particular, the force spectroscopy function in the AFM system allows us to explore the mechanical properties of bio cells. In this study, we probe the variation in the membrane hardness of human neuroblastoma SH-SY5Y cells (SH-cells) before and after differentiation by using force spectroscopy. The SH-cell, which is usually differentiated by using a chemical treatment with retinoic acid (RA), is a neuronal cell line employed widely as an in-vitro model for neuroscience research. In force spectroscopy, the force-distance curves are obtained from both the original and the RA-treated cells while the AFM tip approaches and pushes on the cell membranes. The slope deduced from linear region in the force-distance curve is the spring constant and corresponds to the hardness of the cell membrane. The spring constant of the RA-treated cells (0.597 +/- 0.010 nN/nm) was smaller than that of the original cells (0.794 +/- 0.010 nN/nm), reflecting a hardness decrease in the cells differentiated with the RA treatments. The results clearly demonstrated that the differentiated cells are softer than the original cells. The change in the elasticity of the differentiated cells might be caused by morphological modification during differentiation process. We suggest that force spectroscopy can be employed as a novel method to determine the degree of differentiation of stem cells into various functional cells.

      • Proton beam flux dependent work function of mono-layer MoS<sub>2</sub>

        <P><B>Abstract</B></P> <P>Monolayer (ML)-molybdenum disulfide (MoS<SUB>2</SUB>) with a direct band gap of ~1.8 eV exhibits considerable potential for advanced electronic and optical device applications. The surface electronic properties of ML-MoS<SUB>2</SUB> need to be controlled for developing novel MoS<SUB>2</SUB>-based devices. In this study, we investigated the work function variation of chemical vapor deposition-grown ML-MoS<SUB>2</SUB> that was controlled by proton irradiation. The crystallinity of the ML-MoS<SUB>2</SUB> was confirmed by micro-Raman and Photoluminescence measurements. The work functions of the ML-MoS<SUB>2</SUB> irradiated with varying proton beam flux were measured by Kelvin probe force microscopy. As the ML-MoS<SUB>2</SUB> were exposed to the proton beam flux ranging from 1 × 10<SUP>12</SUP> to 1 × 10<SUP>14</SUP> protons/cm<SUP>2</SUP> at the same beam energy of 10 MeV, the contact potential difference of the MoS<SUB>2</SUB> increased up to about 0.108 V with increased proton beam flux. Based on the referenced value of the Au work function (≈5.1 eV), the work functions of non-treated ML-MoS<SUB>2</SUB> and proton-irradiated ML-MoS<SUB>2</SUB> with a proton beam flux of 1 × 10<SUP>14</SUP> protons/cm<SUP>2</SUP> were determined to be 5.031 eV and 4.992 eV, respectively. The decrease of the work function of the MoS<SUB>2</SUB> with increased proton beam flux is due to the defect formation induced by proton irradiation. We suggest the possibility of engineering the surface potential and electronic properties of ML-MoS<SUB>2</SUB> through controlling proton irradiation conditions.</P> <P><B>Highlights</B></P> <P> <UL> <LI> The work function of monolayer MoS<SUB>2</SUB> decreased with increased proton flux irradiation. </LI> <LI> The proton irradiation on MoS<SUB>2</SUB> leads to generation of the S-vacancy defects in MoS<SUB>2</SUB>. </LI> <LI> Electronic properties of monolayer MoS<SUB>2</SUB> can be modified by proton beam irradiation. </LI> </UL> </P>

        Subthreshold swing degradation of ferroelectric-gate field effect transistor (FeFET) memory are analyzed through DC and fast drain current (ID)-gate voltage (VG) measurements. From the fast ID-VGs before endurance cycling, it is revealed that acceptor-like traps with millisecond-order response time mainly exist in the gate oxide of FeFETs and the traps cause the different subthreshold swing (SS) between erase and program states.

        The Overuse of the Copula “Be” in Talk-in-Interaction by Novice Korean Learners of English

        The additional use of the copula be has been found in the oral and written data of novice Korean English learners. Several studies attributed the phenomenon to cross-linguistic influence; the transfer of topic and subject marker of the L1. This study examines the additional be and be-involving expressions found in the spoken data made by five low and low-intermediate level Korean English learners’ talk-in-interaction: one dyadic and the other quaternary. Additional be occurrences are thoroughly examined with the emic perspective of Conversation Analysis. Firstly, according to this study’s findings, an overgenerated be shows the developmental aspect of the L2 speakers, with regard to their interlanguage stage and the capacity of tense and negation inflection. Secondly, overgenerated be and be-involving expressions are deployed as an international resource in doing repair by novice speakers, as a way of enacting a turn-holding strategy to complete their turn successfully, with the aim of making time for thinking and planning their next utterances.

        중국 애니메이션'마란화'의 의미생성구조를 위한 기호학적 분석

        본 연구는 정치 이데올로기가 다른 중국의 문화 정체성을 고찰하기 위한 것으로 연구대상인 중국의 대표 애니메이션인 <마란화>에 대한 의미구조의 분석을 통해 기호체계의 유형을 진단하고자 하였다. 이를 위해 소쉬르의 기호학 이론과 그레마스의 <의미 표출 구조와 단계>의 이론에 의거하여 연구대상의 서사구조 내용 및 의미 작용에 대한 기호분석 모델을 추출하였고 6단계의 서사구조의 총 35개의 시퀀스에 대한 요소별 세부 의미작용을 분석하였다. 추출된 의미구조 분석 모형은 단계별 서사구조의 의미작용과 함께 각 시퀀스 사이의 공백 또한 스토리 전개의 의미작용 구조로 포함시켜 더욱 세밀한 의미구조 작용을 분석할 수 있었으며 이에 따르면 대부분의 2차 기호작용에서는 권선징악의 대표적 수법인 '죽음'과 '생명'등과 같은 이항대립에 관한 의미해석이 이루어지고 있음을 알 수 있었다. 결과적으로 본 연구에서 추출된 구조 분석 모델을 통해 나타나는 2차 의미작용들은 동양의 고대 사상인 '자연회귀'와 '권선징악'이란 틀에서 벗어나지 않는다는 점에서 중국의 정치 이데올로기와는 무관하게 인간의 윤리적인 입장을 강하게 취하고 있다는 것을 알 수 있었다. This study wished to diagnose type of symbol system through analysis of meaning structure about Chinese representative animation <the magic aster> that is study target thing to investigate Chinese culture identity that differ politics ideology. Extracted signature analysis model about study target's narration structure and signification according to Saussure's semiotics theory and theory of Greimas' <meaning expression structure and step> for this. 35 sequences about narration structure of total 6 steps included blank between each sequence by signification structure for story unfolding. So that could analyze more minute result. According to result could know that meaning analysis about transposition confrontation such as 'Death' 'Life' that is typical technique of 'The good triumphing over the evil' in most 2nd symbol functions is achieved. As a result could know that 2nd signification that appear through structure analysis model which abstract in this study do not escape frame called 'Nature revolution' 'The good triumphing over the evil' that is ancient philosophy of East. And could know that is taking human's ethical entrance strongly independently with Chinese politics ideology.

      • 경상남도 특허종합정보컨설팅사업 디자인 연구개발

        본 연구는 2011년 3월 공시된 경상남도 특허종합정보컨설팅사업의 사업결과보고서로서, 진주상공회의소 진주지식 재산센터에서 주관하고 동명대학교 산학협력단 디자인경영혁신연구소와 그린국제특허법률사무소에서 공동으로 수행한 디자인 권리화 및 디자인 개발지원 사업이다. 사업의 기간은 2011년 4월 7일에서 2011년 11월 30일까지였으며, 대상지역은 경상남도 사천시, 하동군, 함양군이다. 대상 지역에서 총 23개 업체가 신청을 했고, 이 중에서 최종 14개 업체가 선정되었다. 대상 지역은 지리적으로 경상남도 서향에 위치하고 지리산과 남해를 접점하고 있으며, 해당 브랜드는 디자인 권리화에 대한 정보가 전무하고 아이덴티티가 결여된 것으로 현황 분석됐다. 그리고 그리고 지역의 특산품임에도 불구하고 상표 관리가 취약하여 브랜드의 가치보다 낮은 평가를 받고 있었다. 또한 경영가의 장인 의식은 높았지만, 브랜드 아이덴티티와 마케팅의 인식부족으로 어려움을 겪고 있었다. 본 연구는 이러한 상황에 놓여 있는 지역 브랜드의 디자인 권리와 인지도를 높일 수 있도록 브랜드 전략을 수립하고 수행과정을 공유하여 결과물을 최종적으로 상표 등록을 하는 것에 목적이 있다. 결과적으로 논리적인 디자인 개발 프로세스를 공유하여 차별된 디자인 결과물을 얻었고, 동시에 상표등록을 하여 특허에 포함되어 있는 기술에 대한 실질적인 보호가 가능해졌다. This research is the business report of ‘Gyeongsangnam-do Integrated Consulting Business of Patents Information’ published at March in 2011. It is the design development support business which supports from Jinhu Intellectual Property Center of Jiniu CCI and in which Design Institute of Tongmyong University hosts and in which Green International Patents law firm participates in communally and which it performs. Till the period of the business, on April, 2011, 7 days on November. 2011 30 days. The target area is Sacheon city, Hadong-gun. and Hamyang-gun in Gyeongsangnam-do. In 3 pertinent areas, 23 enterprises applied altogether. The last 14 enterprise was chosen in this middle. This research establishes the brand strategy in order to improve the right for design of the local brand placed on to this situation and recognition. There is the purpose to finally register the outcome through the execution process. The result of the development shared the logical Indesign development process and obtained the distinguished design outcome. The protection substantial about the technology which registered and is included in the patent became possible.

        웹 사이트의 Narrative Navigation 모델 사례 조사

        1980년대 이 후 웹 미디어는 본격적인 쌍방향 원격소통의 매체로서 다른 뉴미디어와 함께 그 지위를 새롭게 부여받은 커뮤니케이션 형태중의 하나이다. 이 새로운 방식의 매체는 사용자에게 정보의 선택과 제어, 그리고 획득이란 절차로 쌍방향소통을 가능하게 함으로써 정보의 시각적 유희와 참여적 사용자 구조를 제공한다. 이러한 몰입성향의 정보구조 도입은 컴퓨터 시대의 영상언어 강세 현상인 동시에 문학적 내러티브의 재현 및 적용의 용이성으로 가능하다. 서사구조가 현재의 웹의 전반적인 양상은 아니지만 디지털영상문화의 성향으로 볼 때 다분히 도입추세의 강세가 예상된다. 이와 같은 배경을 바탕으로 내러티브 유형의 내비게이션 도입 사례의 필요성을 정리하고 웹 사이트에 있어서 내러티브 내비게이션 구조에 대한 사례들을 분석해보고 그 접근방법에 대해 고찰해봄으로써 보다 나은 웹 사이트 디자인 구조와 그 방법론 개발에 기초적인 개념과 단서를 제공하고자 한다. 따라서 웹 사이트에 도입되는 서사구조의 성향과 분석을 통해 향 후 웹 사이트 개발모델로서 성향을 진단하고 그 가능성을 고찰하는 것이 본 연구의 목적이다. Since the 1980s, who media has become one of the renovative ways of interactive long-distance communication along with other new media. This new medium provides users with the possibility of interactive communication through the process of selecting, controling, and achieving information. Furthermore, it offers visual amusement from the expressions of information and active user structure through functioning narratives and locomotive navigations including graphic metaphors and video clips such as movies and games. This introduction of absorbing information structure is derived from the emphasis on visual language and the simplicity of representing and applying literary narrative structure. As a matter of fact, narrative structure is not the overruling phenomenon in the field of web industry. However, seeing how digital visual culture is moving toward, it is much likely to be that the narrative structure becomes one of the most influential, followed up by several applications as examples. Therefore, the purpose of this research is to diagnose the effectivity of the narrative structure as a development model after analyzing the characteristics of it and to consider the possibility of it becoming the future method in designing web sites.
