• A Study on Threat Containment through VDI for Security Management of Partner Companies Operating at Industrial Control System Facility

        ( Sangdo Lee ),( Jun-ho Huh ) 한국정보처리학회 2019 한국정보처리학회 학술대회논문집 Vol.26 No.2

The results from the analysis of recent security breach cases of industrial control systems revealed that most of them were caused by the employees of a partner company who had been managing the control system. For this reason, the majority of the current company security management systems have been developed focusing on their performances. Despite such effort, many hacking attempts against a major company, public institution or financial institution are still attempted by the partner company or outsourced employees. Thus, the institutions or organizations that manage Industrial Control Systems (ICSs) associated with major national infrastructures involving traffic, water resources, energy, etc. are putting emphasis on their security management as the role of those partners is increasingly becoming important as outsourcing security task has become a common practice. However, in reality, it is also a fact that this is the point where security is most vulnerable and various security management plans have been continuously studied and proposed. A system that enhances the security level of a partner company with a Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) has been developed in this study through research on the past performances of partner companies stationed at various types of industrial control infrastructures and its performance outcomes were statistically compiled to propose an appropriate model for the current ICSs by comparing vulnerabilities, measures taken and their results before and after adopting the VDI.

      • TOO BRIGHT TO SEE, TOO LOUD TO HEAR? MEASURING ACTUAL EFFECTS OF MESSAGE FRAMES IN MARKETING SUSTAINABILITY

        Sangdo Oh,Sunho Jung,Seung Yun Lee 글로벌지식마케팅경영학회 2014 Global Marketing Conference Vol.2014 No.5

Explicit environmental attitude measures tend to produce strong socially desirable responses (Bruni & Schultz, 2010; Milfont & Duckitt, 2010; Stern & Dietz, 1994) and fail to capture more than what participants consciously recall (e.g., explicit belief, past behavior, Dunlap, Van Liere, Mertig, Jones, 2000; Schultz, Shriver, Tabanico, & Khazian, 2004). A number of studies have highlighted the popularity of environmental issues in common discourse in various countries, which leads individuals to eagerly express pro-environmental explicit attitudes (Dunlap, 1998; Leiserowitz, 2005; Meijers & Stapel, 2011). Therefore, an explicit measure of environmental attitudes would hardly be an unbiased indicator of prior knowledge and experience when testing the effect of subtle feeling on judgments: although a participant explicitly reports favorable attitudes toward environment or related issues, it does not necessarily mean that she or he has knowledge and experience to hinder the regulatory fit effects. Using the Implicit Association Test, we examined whether the extent to which individuals are implicitly biased toward (or against) sustainability moderates the regulatory focus by construal level interaction. Scores from the indirect measure of attitudes served as the indicator of the strength of associations between the concept of sustainability and evaluations that may result form its frequent pairing with desirable consumption patterns or repeated exposure to persuasive messages promoting sustainability. Specifically, we showed that the regulatory focus - construal level fit effect will be greater among individuals who have not formed significant associations about sustainability since these individuals are more likely to rely on feeling right from regulatory fit rather than using prior experience or knowledge.

      • English intonation: what and how to teach to primary school pre-service teachers

Sangdo Woo 공주교육대학교 초등교육연구원 2011 敎育論叢 Vol.48 No.1

This study proposes a teachable and learnable procedure for the teaching English intonation to primary school pre-service teachers. Primary school teachers need to communicate in English in class to teach English and be a model to students. Teachers should have an intelligible and good pronunciation to conduct their English classes following the TEE guideline of MOE and demands of parents and students. In most English pronunciation classes, intonation has been neglected or avoided for various reasons. The procedure in this paper includes three main intonation features in order: thought groups, focus words, and intonation patterns. First, the concept and function of thought groups are provided for learners to realize the scope of English intonation. Second, the focus word is identified through the unmarked and marked meaning of the utterances. Last, three main intonation patterns selected based on the teachability and learnability are presented in relation to the grammatical structures as a general guideline. It should be emphasized that the general guideline can be overridden by speaker's intended meaning and attitudes. At this stage the use of wider voice range in English intonation is introduced and practiced to help learners to recognize the difference and to use their voice range appropriately. Through the three-step approach to English intonation, primary school pre-service teachers can increase their intelligibility of pronunciation making them use more comprehensible English in the classroom. The experimental study implementing this approach should be followed to verify the procedure.

      • New concept for Neck injury lessening system development

        Sangdo Park(박상도),DongWoo Jeong(정동우),Hakgyun Kim(김학균),Taehoon Lee(이태훈),JinYoung Nam(남진영) 한국자동차공학회 2012 한국자동차공학회 부문종합 학술대회 Vol.2012 No.5

Recently, due to technological evolutions and social demands, motor vehicles are much requested to be enhanced in terms of occupant safety and comfort. As a result, many countries are reinforcing crash regulations and new car assessment programs. Automotive seats as essential parts to the passenger safety and comfort has become most important parts and many automotive companies concentrate on optimization of Neck Injury protection system. The Known factor to reduce neck injury is reducing relative movement between Head & Torso. This study is focused on reducing torso acceleration to minimize neck injuries by controlling seat back frame.

      • YOU MAY LIE WHEN YOU WEAR PRADA: THE EFFECT OF BRAND LOGO PRESENCE ON IMPLICIT-EXPLICIT ATTITUDES CONGRUENCY

        Sangdo Oh,Chaeho Lee,Sukki Yoon,Kacy K. Kim,Yung Kyun Choi 글로벌지식마케팅경영학회 2015 Global Fashion Management Conference Vol.2015 No.06

This research examines the effect of luxury brand's logo on disparity between explicit and implicit attitudes. Using implicit association test, the results show that there is no correlation between implicit attitude and explicit attitude towrd a luxury product when luxury brand's logo is present (i.e., Prada). In contrast, implicit attitude and explicit attitude are negatively correlated when luxury logo is absent (i.e., Bottega Veneta).

Recommendation of Navigation Performance for K-UAM Considering Multipath Error in Urban Environment Operation

Sangdo Park,Dongwon Jung,Hyang Sig Jun 사단법인 항법시스템학회 2023 Journal of Positioning, Navigation, and Timing Vol.12 No.4

According to the Korea Urban Air Mobility (K-UAM) Concept of Operation (ConOps), the Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) is recommended as the primary navigation system and the performance specification will be implemented considering the standard of Performance Based Navigation (PBN). However, by taking into account the characteristics of an urban environment and the concurrent operations of multiple UAM aircraft, the current PBN standards for civil aviation seem difficult to be directly applied to an UAM aircraft. Therefore, by referring to technical documents published in the literature, this paper examines the feasibility of applying the proposed performance requirements to K-UAM, which follows the recommendation of navigation performance requirements for K-UAM. In accordance with the UAM ConOps, the UAM aircraft is anticipated to maintain low altitude during approach and landing phases. Subsequently, the navigation performance degradation could occur in the urban environment, and the primary degradation factor is identified as multipath error. For this reason, to ensure the safety and reliability of the K-UAM aircraft, it is necessary to analyze the degree of performance degradation related to the urban environment and then propose an alternative aid to enhance the navigation performance. To this end, the aim of this paper is to model the multipath effects of the GNSS in an urban environment and to carry out the simulation studies using the real GNSS datasets. Finally, the initial navigation performance requirement is proposed based on the results of the numerical simulation for the K-UAM.

Infection models of human norovirus: challenges and recent progress

        Ha, Sangdo,Choi, In-Soo,Choi, Changsun,Myoung, Jinjong Springer-Verlag 2016 Archives of virology Vol.161 No.4

Human norovirus (hNoV) infections cause acute gastroenteritis, accounting for millions of disease cases and more than 200,000 deaths annually. However, the lack of in vitro infection models and robust small-animal models has posed barriers to the development of virus-specific therapies and preventive vaccines. Promising recent progress in the development of a norovirus infection model is reviewed in this article, as well as attempts and efforts made since the discovery of hNoV more than 40 years ago. Because suitable experimental animal models for human norovirus are lacking, attractive alternatives are also discussed.
