This study focuses on the assessment of long-term So_(2) concentration around the Yochon industrial complex area using ISCLT model. ISCLT model has been officially authorized by the U.S. EPA. Yochon industrial complex was located around Kwang-yang bay. In order to simulate the prediction of long-term So_(2) concentration by ISCLT model and the application in Yochon industrial complex area, every point source was identified and applicability to this region was studied in detail. Long-term meteorological data were analyzed from 1995 to 1998. As the result of verification and calibration for the model accuracy. the conversion factor was 8.35. According to the analysis from 1995 to 1988 meteorological data in Yochon, west north west(WNW: 13), north east north(NEN: 1), and south(s: 8) direction were identified to be the most frequently occurred one whit its frequency. As the result of modeling prediction, SO_(2) concentration in Yochon petroleum industrial complex area was satisfied to Air Quality Standards.

This paper discusses an EMG based control method of a virtual robot arm as an adaptive human supporting system or remote control system, which consists of an shoulder control part, elbow control part, and wrist control part. The system uses three surface electrodes to acquire the electromyography(EMG) signal from operator. It is shown from the experiments that the EMG patterns during arm motions can be classified sufficiently by using SOFM(self-organizing feature map). The interface system based on PC environment is constructed to 3-D graphic user interface(GUI) program.
만성 C형 간염 환자에서 페그인터페론 알파2a와 리바비린 병합 치료중 발생한 벨마비 1예

페그인터페론과 리바비린 병합요법은 만성 C형 간염의 일차 치료법이다. 저자들은 만성 C형 간염 환자에서 페그인터페론 과 리바비린 병합 요법 중에 발생한 벨마비 1예를 경험하였기에 문헌고찰과 함께 보고하는 바이다. 환자는 5년 전부터 만성 C형 간염을 앓아온 48세 남자이며, PEG-IFN α-2a 135μgm 피하주사 주1회와 하루 1200㎎의 리바비린을 투여하였다. 치료시작 후 9개월째 환자는 오른쪽 안면의 근력약화를 호소하였으며 벨마비로 진단되었다. 페그인터페론과 리바비린 병합요법을 지속하면서 관찰하였다. 환자의 벨마비는 페그인터페론 치료를 중단하지 않았음에도 3개월후 증상이 회복되고 이후 벨마비 재발 없이 현재 경과관찰 중이다. 만성 C형 간염에서 페그인터페론과 리바비린 병합 요법시 벨마비의 발생 가능성을 염두에 두어야 하겠다. A Case of Bell's Palsy Associated with Combination Therapy of Pegylated Interferon Alfa-2a (PEG-IFN) and Ribavirin for Chronic Hepatitis C Virus Infection Pegylated interferon alfa(PEG-IFN α) and ribavirin therapy is the first line treatment for chronic hepatitis C. Mild complications of the therapy are common, but more serious complications are rare. We report here a case of Bell's palsy that occurred in a patient with chronic hepatitis C virus infection during combination therapy of PEG-IFN α-2a and ribavirin. The patient was 49-year-old man with chronic hepatitis C (genotype 1b) for 8 years. He had compensated liver cirrhosis with splenomegaly. Therapy with PEG-IFN α- 2a 135mcg/week and ribavirin 1200mg/day was initiated. After 9 months of the therapy, the patient showed a loss of muscular tone on the right side of his face. A diagnosis of Bell's palsy was made. The Bell's palsy resolved over 3 months despite continuation of the combination therapy.

<P>Polycatenar 1<I>H</I>-imidazole amphiphiles, consisting of a 1<I>H</I>-imidazole head connected through a benzene ring to a trialkyloxyphenyl tail, were synthesized and their self-assembling properties investigated. The <SUP>1</SUP>H NMR and fluorescence spectroscopy studies showed that in nonpolar solvents, the amphiphiles formed reverse micelles in which the hydrophilic imidazole heads aggregated inside the micelles through intermolecular hydrogen bonding and the nonpolar alkyl chains were located at the periphery of the micelles. In concentrated solutions, they formed lyotropic liquid crystals having columnar hexagonal structures. The molecules were arranged in a disk <I>via</I> hydrogen bonding between successive imidazole moieties. When dilute solutions of the amphiphiles in <I>n</I>-hexane (0.1 wt%) were spin-coated on to a plasma-cleaned Si wafer, a band-like structure with a width of 60–100 nm was imaged by AFM. Microscopic fiber bundles with a diameter as large as 13 µm were observed by SEM when the lyotropic liquid crystals in 30 wt% hexane solution were dried on the glass.</P> <P>Graphic Abstract</P><P>The polycatenar 1<I>H</I>-imidazole amphiphiles showed a strong tendency to self-assemble in solution, owing to their capability of acting as both a proton donor and an acceptor in hydrogen bonding. <IMG SRC='http://pubs.rsc.org/services/images/RSCpubs.ePlatform.Service.FreeContent.ImageService.svc/ImageService/image/GA?id=b606870g'> </P>
Cutaneous asthenia (Ehlers-Danlos syndrome) in a Korean short-haired cat

A 1-year-old Korean domestic short-haired cat presented with skin hyperextensibility and a severely macerated wound on the skin of the dorsal part of the neck. Diagnostic studies including histopathology and skin extensibility index revealed congenital cutaneous asthenia (Ehlers-Danlos syndrome). In this cat, the skin wounds and defects were successfully managed with standard wound management and cosmetic surgery. Although skin hyperextensibility is persistent, the cat has lived well without other complications to date. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first report of cutaneous asthenia in a cat in Korea.
Ki-67 labeling index as a prognostic marker in advanced stomach cancer

Purpose: Proliferation marker Ki-67 is widely used in cancer prognosis prediction. We tried to investigate the role of Ki-67 as a prognostic factor in stomach cancer after surgery in this study. Methods: We retrospectively evaluated 251 patients who underwent curative resection for gastric cancer from 2010 to 2015. In pathologic examination, Ki-67 labeling index was defined as the percentage of Ki-67 antigen positive cells. Prognostic significance of Ki-67 for gastric cancer was evaluated. Disease-free survival (DFS) was assessed as a primary end-point. Results: The median follow-up period was 28.0 months. Thirty-one patients (12.4%) showed Ki-67 labeling index (LI) lower than 25%. Sixty-eight patients (26.6%) showed recurrence during follow-up period. Recurrence was associated with Ki- 67 LI level (≤25%, P = 0.016), and lymph node metastasis status (P = 0.002). High Ki-67 LI level (>25%) was also related to p53 positivity (P < 0.001) and poorly cohesive type (P = 0.002). The 3-year DFS was 69.4%. Low Ki-67 LI level (≤25%) was related with low DFS (47.6% vs. 72.6%, P = 0.016). T stage (P < 0.001), N stage (P = 0.006), lymphovascular invasion (P = 0.010), and neuronal invasion (P = 0.001) also affected the DFS. In addition, T stage (P = 0.03) and Ki-67 LI (P = 0.035) were independent prognostic factors for DFS. In patients treated with adjuvant chemotherapy (n = 239, 93.4%), low Ki-67 (≤25%) was a poor prognostic factor for DFS (P = 0.013). Conclusion: Low Ki-67 LI predicts high rate of progression and low DFS of stomach cancer. Ki-67 LI can be a predictive marker in resected stomach cancer treated with surgery and adjuvant chemotherapy.
Hybrid Control System for Managing Voltage and Reactive Power in the JEJU Power System

This paper proposes a hybrid voltage controller based on a hierarchical control structure for implementation in the Jeju power system. The hybrid voltage controller utilizes the coordination of various reactive power devices such as generators, switched shunt devices and LTC to regulate the pilot voltage of an area or zone. The reactive power source can be classified into two groups based on action characteristics, namely continuous and discrete. The controller, which regulates the pilot bus voltage, reflects these characteristics in the coordination of the two types of reactive power source. However, the continuous type source like generators is a more important source than the discrete type for an emergency state such as a voltage collapse, thereby requiring a more reactive power reserve of the continuous type to be utilized in the coordination in order to regulate the pilot bus voltage. Results show that the hybrid controller, when compared to conventional methods, has a considerable improvement in performance when adopted to control the pilot bus voltage of the Jeju island system.
