Algunas Lecciones de la Evaluaci? del Tratado de Libre Comercio de Am?ica del Norte
Luis Quintana Romero, Nam Kwon Mun 한국외국어대학교 중남미연구소 2007 중남미연구 Vol.25 No.2
North American Free Trade Agreement is one of the most debated economic integration among trade blocs of the world. This FTA established for the first time in the economic integration history the vertical integration model. So there have been so many reviews about the economic effect of this trade bloc. Many analysis estimatesas positive the economic performance of the intra-bloc countries since it entered into effect. But the meaning of the positive valuation should be different for each nation of the bloc. This paper reviews the proper economy theory for NAFTA, and judges the performance of the FTA for the small country of the bloc, Mexico.
LAS RELACIONES COMERCIALES MEXICO-ESTADOS UNIDOS ANTE EL TLCAN: UN ENFOQUE NEOINSTITUCLONAL
Luis Quintana Romero 한국외국어대학교 중남미연구소 2005 중남미연구 Vol.24 No.1
This paper draws a balance sheet of the mexican institutions created to implement the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA), examining their effectiviness and their performance as supranational bodies and mechanisms. NAFTA’s institutions are considered as part of the broad process of institutional reforms begun in the 1980s as a result of the mexican trade opening. In that sense, the agreement is analyzed as a specific source of institutional change, particularly in it’s domestic dimension, where it has been behind modifications in the obligatory nature of Mexico´s legal system. While under NAFTA important changes in the mexican legal system have been made formally, in practice, problems persist. These affect the quality of the institutions, problems like corruption, low competitiveness, informal market, drug trafficking, contraband and poverty.

The purpose of this paper is to identify the vidence ofconvergence-divergence clubs into the conomic growth pat tern of theStates of Mexico and to ases the role and importance of the g eo-spatialfactors in that proces. This paper uses an econometric spatial cros-sectionmodel in order to analyze the conomic growth and the converg encehypothesis.324 중남미 연구 제 권 호26 1The results confirm the xistence of diferent convergence proces in theStates of Mexico and the conformation of convergence clubs with diversesteady-state. This ituation keps the income disparity in the conomicdevelopment of the states and revealed the close relationship betwen thegeo-spatial ocalization and the formation of convergence nucleus in theMexican States.
SMEs’ Productivity in the Mexican Regions: A Spatial Panel Data Approach, 1999-2014
Roldán Andrés-Rosales,문남권,Luis Quintana-Romero,Miguel Ángel Mendoza-González 한국외국어대학교 중남미연구소 2019 중남미연구 Vol.38 No.3
In this paper, we analyze the importance of private capital in small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in determining the growth of manufacturing productivity and regional development in Mexico. Given SMEs’ current central role in employment, output, and wages, we focus on their productivity and competitiveness by studying regional concentration and spillover effects. We use spatial panel data and a spatial Durbin model to find the direct and indirect effects of capital that depend on the size of the enterprise; we also use information from the economic census and the spatial weight matrices. The results suggest that productivity is boosted by the private capital of SMEs. This study allows us to identify the advantages within each region as well as their strengths and weaknesses according to each productive structure.

The aim of this study was to characterize potential fun- gal species affecting mangrove species in Mexico. The phytopathogens were identified based on morphologi- cal and molecular characteristics using internal tran- scribed spacer (ITS1/ITS4) primers then sequenced and compared with the other related sequences in GenBank (NCBI). Three fungal species were identified as Colletotrichum queenslandicum (Weir and Johnst, 2012) from black mangrove (Avicennia germinans); Colletotrichum ti (Weir and Johnst, 2012) from white mangrove (Laguncularia racemosa) and buttonwood mangrove (Conocarpus erectus); Fusarium equiseti (Corda) from red mangrove (Rhizophora mangle). In addition, C. ti and F. equiseti were identified from man- go Mangifera indica L. sampled close by the mangrove area. This study provides first evidence of anthracnose on four mangrove species caused by Colletotrichum and Fusarium species in the “Términos” coastal lagoon in Campeche State southern Mexico. This is the first time that C. queenslandicum and C. ti are reported in Mexico. F. equiseti has not been reported affecting M. indica and R. mangle until the present work. Little is known regarding fungal diseases affecting mangroves in Mexico. These ecosystems are protected by Mexican laws and may be threatened by these pathogenic fungus. This is the first report of the effect of Trichoderma harzianum TRICHO-SIN as an effective biological con- trol against of Colletotrichum and Fusarium species.
