Pure Ultraviolet Emission from ZnO Quantum Dots-Based/GaN Heterojunction Diodes by MgO Interlayer

        Cheng Chen,Renli Liang,Jingwen Chen,Jun Zhang,Shuai Wang,Chong Zhao,Wei Zhang,Jiangnan Dai,Changqing Chen 대한금속·재료학회 2017 ELECTRONIC MATERIALS LETTERS Vol.13 No.4

We demonstrate the fabrication and characterization of ZnO/GaNbasedheterojunction light-emitting diodes (LEDs) by using air-stableand solution-processable ZnO quantum dots (QDs) with a thin MgOinterlayer acting as an electron blocking layer (EBL). The ZnO QDs/MgO/p-GaN heterojunction can only display electroluminescence(EL) characteristic in reverse bias regime. Under sufficient reversebias, a fairly pure ultraviolet EL emission located at 370 nm derivingfrom near band edge of ZnO with a full width at half maximum(FWHM) of 8.3 nm had been obtained, while the deep-level emissionhad been almost totally suppressed. The EL origination andcorresponding carrier transport mechanisms were investigatedqualitatively in terms of photoluminescence (PL) results and energyband diagram.

Mangiferin ameliorates cardiac fibrosis in D-galactose-induced aging rats by inhibiting TGF-β/p38/MK2 signaling pathway

        Cheng, Jing,Ren, Chaoyang,Cheng, Renli,Li, Yunning,Liu, Ping,Wang, Wei,Liu, Li The Korean Society of Pharmacology 2021 The Korean Journal of Physiology & Pharmacology Vol.25 No.2

Aging is the process spontaneously occurred in living organisms. Cardiac fibrosis is a pathophysiological process of cardiac aging. Mangiferin is a well-known C-glucoside xanthone in mango leaves with lots of beneficial properties. In this study, rat model of cardiac fibrosis was induced by injected with 150 mg/kg/d D-galactose for 8 weeks. The age-related cardiac decline was estimated by detecting the relative weight of heart, the serum levels of cardiac injury indicators and the expression of hypertrophic biomakers. Cardiac oxidative stress and local inflammation were measured by detecting the levels of malondialdehyde, enzymatic antioxidant status and proinflammatory cytokines. Cardiac fibrosis was evaluated by observing collagen deposition via masson and sirius red staining, as well as by examining the expression of extracellular matrix proteins via Western blot analysis. The cardiac activity of profibrotic TGF-β1/p38/MK2 signaling pathway was assessed by measuring the expression of TGF-β1 and the phosphorylation levels of p38 and MK2. It was observed that mangiferin ameliorated D-galactose-induced cardiac aging, attenuated cardiac oxidative stress, inflammation and fibrosis, as well as inhibited the activation of TGF-β1/p38/MK2 signaling pathway. These results showed that mangiferin could ameliorate cardiac fibrosis in D-galactose-induced aging rats possibly via inhibiting TGF-β/p38/MK2 signaling pathway.

Optimal Allocation Method of Hybrid Active Power Filters in Active Distribution Networks Based on Differential Evolution Algorithm

        Yougen Chen,Weiwei Chen,Renli Yang,Zhiyong Li 전력전자학회 2019 JOURNAL OF POWER ELECTRONICS Vol.19 No.5

In this paper, an optimal allocation method of a hybrid active power filter in an active distribution network is designed based on the differential evolution algorithm to resolve the harmonic generation problem when a distributed generation system is connected to the grid. A distributed generation system model in the calculation of power flow is established. An improved back/ forward sweep algorithm and a decoupling algorithm are proposed for fundamental power flow and harmonic power flow. On this basis, a multi-objective optimization allocation model of the location and capacity of a hybrid filter in an active distribution network is built, and an optimal allocation scheme of the hybrid active power filter based on the differential evolution algorithm is proposed. To verify the effect of the harmonic suppression of the designed scheme, simulation analysis in an IEEE-33 nodes model and an experimental analysis on a test platform of a microgrid are adopted.

Identification of differentially expressed miRNAs after Lactobacillus reuteri treatment in the ileum mucosa of piglets

        Qi Wang,Qian Sun,Jing Wang,Xiaoyu Qiu,Renli Qi,Jinxiu Huang 한국유전학회 2020 Genes & Genomics Vol.42 No.11

Background Lactobacillus reuteri I5007 possesses many excellent probiotic characteristics in piglets. miRNA plays importantrole in host-microbiota interactions, but the mechanism by which L. reuteri I5007 regulates intestinal function throughits influence on miRNA expression is unknown. Objective This study analyzed the miRNA expression patterns in the ileum mucosa tissue of piglets by L. reuteri I5007treatment, aim to clarify its molecular mechanism for regulating intestinal function through miRNA. Methods Neonatal piglets were orally administered L. reuteri I5007 or a placebo daily starting on day 1, and differentialexpression of ileal miRNAs was analyzed at 10 and 20 days of age by small RNA sequencing. Results 361 known porcine miRNAs were identified, and ten miRNAs were highly expressed in the ileum mucosa in bothtreatments. Nineteen differentially expressed (DE) miRNAs were identified in response to L. reuteri treatment, and four DEmiRNAs (ssc-miR-196a, -196b-5p, -1285 and -10386) were differentially expressed at both time points. The KEGG pathwayanalyses showed the targets of 19 DE miRNAs were involved in 63 significantly enriched pathways, including the PI3KAktand MAPK pathways, which were confirmed to play important roles in probiotic-host communication. L. reuteri I5007exerted anti-inflammatory effects by influencing the levels of inflammatory cytokines. Suppressor of cytokine signalling 4gene was the target gene of ssc-miR-196a/-196b-5p, overexpression of ssc-miR-196a/-196b-5p downregulated the mRNAexpression of IL-1β and TNFα in IPEC-J2 cells. Conclusion Our study provides new insight into the role of miRNAs in the intestinal function of piglets after L. reuteriI5007 treatment.

Effects of Lactobacillus salivarius Ren on cancer prevention and intestinal microbiota in 1, 2-dimethylhydrazine-induced rat model

        Ming Zhang,Xing Fan,Bing Fang,Chengzhen Zhu,Jun Zhu,Fazheng Ren 한국미생물학회 2015 The journal of microbiology Vol.53 No.6

Probiotics have been suggested as a prophylactic measure in colon cancer. The aim of this study was to investigate the impact of Lactobacillus salivarius Ren (Ren) in modulating colonic microbiota structure and colon cancer incidence in a rat model after injection with 1,2-dimethyl hydrazine (DMH). The results indicated that oral administration of Ren could effectively suppress DMH-induced colonic carcinogenesis. A significant decrease in cancer incidence (87.5% to 25%) was detected in rats fed with a dose of 5 × 1010 CFU/kg bodyweight per day. Using denaturing gradient gel electrophoresis and Real-time PCR combined with multivariate statistical methods, we demonstrated that injection with DMH significantly altered the rat gut microbiota, while Ren counteracted these DMH-induced adverse effects and promoted reversion of the gut microbiota close to the healthy state. Tvalue biplots followed by band sequencing identified 21 bacterial strains as critical variables affected by DMH and Ren. Injection of DMH significantly increased the amount of Ruminococcus species (sp.) and Clostridiales bacteria, as well as decreasing the Prevotella sp. Administration of Ren reduced the amount of Ruminococcus sp., Clostridiales bacteria, and Bacteroides dorei, and increased the amount of Prevotella. Real-time PCR results were consistent with the results derived by t-value biplots. These findings suggested that Ren is a potential agent for colon cancer prevention. In conclusion, the results in the present study suggest a potential therapeutic approach based on the modulation of intestinal microflora by probiotics may be beneficial in the prevention of colorectal carcinogenesis.

The simulation study on natural circulation operating characteristics of FNPP in inclined condition

        Ren Li,Genglei Xia,Minjun Peng,Lin Sun 한국원자력학회 2019 Nuclear Engineering and Technology Vol.51 No.7

Previous research has shown that the inclined condition has an impact on the natural circulation (natural circulation) mode operation of Floating Nuclear Power Plant (FNPP) mounted on the movable marine platform. Due to its compact structure, small volume, strong maneuverability, the Integral Pressurized Water Reactor (IPWR) is adopted as marine reactor in general. The OTSGs of IPWR are symmetrically arranged in the annular region between the reactor vessel and core support barrel in this paper. Therefore, many parallel natural circulation loops are built between the core and the OTSGs primary side when the main pump is stopped. and the inclined condition would lead to discrepancies of the natural circulation drive head among the OTSGs in different locations. In addition, the flow rate and temperature nonuniform distribution of the core caused by inclined condition are coupled with the thermal hydraulics parameters maldistribution caused by OTSG group operating mode on low power operation. By means of the RELAP5 codes were modified by adding module calculating the effect of inclined, heaving and rolling condition, the simulation model of IPWR in inclined condition was built. Using the models developed, the influences on natural circulation operation by inclined angle and OTSG position, the transitions between forced circulation (forced circulation) and natural circulation and the effect on natural circulation operation by different OTSG grouping situations in inclined condition were analyzed. It was observed that a larger inclined angle results the temperature of the core outlet is too high and the OTSG superheat steam is insufficient in natural circulation mode operation. In general, the inclined angle is smaller unless the hull is destroyed seriously or the platform overturn in the ocean. In consequence, the results indicated that the IPWR in the movable marine platform in natural circulation mode operation is safety. Selecting an appropriate average temperature setting value or operating the uplifted OTSG group individually is able to reduce the influence on natural circulation flow of IPWR by inclined condition.

Arterial Steal to the Penumbra Area in Patients with Acute MCA Occlusion: A Quantitative Angiographic Analysis

        René van den Berg,Jenna J. Wildeman,Olvert A. Berkhemer,Rogier V. Immink,Henk A. Marquering,Charles B.L.M. Majoie,Dagmar Verbaan,Ed T. van Bavel 대한신경중재치료의학회 2020 Neurointervention Vol.15 No.3

Purpose: In acute middle cerebral artery (MCA) occlusion, collateral vessels provide retrograde supply to the occluded territory. We hypothesized that such collateral flow reduces perfusion of the non-occluded donor region (steal effect).Materials and Methods: Patients with an MCA occlusion with opacification of both ipsi- and contralateral anterior cerebral arteries (ACA) on angiography prior to endovascular treatment were selected. Arteriovenous transit time (AVTT) for both ACA territories was compared for different grades of collateral supply to the MCA territory. In addition, the influence of diabetes and hypertension was analyzed. After successful revascularization, AVTT was re-assessed to determine reversibility. Results: Forty-one patients were analyzed. An AVTT of 8.6 seconds (standard deviation [SD] 2.4 seconds) was seen in the ACA territory of the affected hemisphere in comparison to 6.6 seconds (SD 2.1 seconds) for the contralateral side (P<0.001). A more prolonged (but not significant) AVTT was seen in cases with a higher collateral grade. No difference in AVTT was seen in patients with diabetes or hypertension. After successful MCA revascularization, AVTT delay was 7.4 seconds (SD 2.1 seconds). Conclusion: A cerebral steal effect occurs in patients with an acute MCA occlusion, probably related to augmented flow to the penumbra area.
