蠶作安定多收性 育成의 重要性에 비추어 有用한 形質의 遺傳關係를 初期에 推定하고 效率的인 選拔을 爲한 基礎資料를 얻고자 形質相互間의 特性을 고려한 2個品種을 二面交雜하여 F??의 主要 形質에 대한 優性程度 및 組合能力 등을 檢定한 結果는 다음과 같다. 1. Vr-Wr graph에서 雌單繭重과 雄單繭重은 超優性으로, 雌繭層重, 雄繭層重, 雌繭層比率 및 雄繭層比率은 各各 不完全優性으로 推定되었다. 2. 各 形質에 대한 分散成分의 推定에서 雌繭層重, 雄繭層重, 雌繭層比率 및 雄繭層比率은 遺傳子의 相加的 效果가 優性效果보다 더 컸고, 雌單繭重과 雄單繭重은 反對의 樣相이었다. 優性程度와 平均優性程度에서도 雌雄單繭重에서 超優性이고, 雌雄繭層重과 繭層比率은 各各 不完全優性이었다. 3. 一般組合能力과 特定組合能力을 檢定한 바, 6個形質 모두 一般組合能力(GCA)이 特定組合能力(SCA)보다 높게 評價되었다. 4. GCA 效果의 경우, 蠶114가 雌單繭重이 6個形質中에서 가장 높았고, 蠶108이 雄單繭重, 雌繭層重, 雄繭層重, 雌繭層比率 및 雄繭層比率에서 各各 높게 評價되었다. SCA 效果는 蠶107×蠶113은 雌繭層比率에서, 蠶107×蠶114는 雄繭層重과 雄繭層比率에서, 蠶108×複形蠶은 雌繭層重에서, 蠶108×中14는 雄單繭重에서, 蠶113×綠東亞는 雌單繭重에서, 蠶114×複形蠶은 雌單繭重, 雄單繭重 및 雄繭層重에서, 中14×綠東亞는 雌繭層重, 雌繭層比率 및 雄繭層比率에서 各各 높게 評價되어 주로 奬勵蠶品種인 蠶108, 蠶114가 關與하는 組合에서 SCA 效果가 큰 傾向이었다. Since the estimates of the genetic relations between characters gave us effective basic informations about the selection of good strains of the silkworm, this experiment was carried out to estimate the degree of dominance and the combining ability for the some main characters of the silkworm such as cocoon weight and cocoon layer ratio and weight, using the 21 combinations of F??'s by diallel corsses of seven strains of the silkworm. As the result of this experiments, some conclusions obtained were as follows. 1. The male and female cocoon weights are inferred over dominance and their cocoon layer weights and ratio partial dominance from Vr-Wr graph. 2. The additive effect of gene on the male and female cocoon layer weights and ratio is higher than the dominance effect, on the contrary, the latter on both the cocoon weights is higher than the former. Also, in the average degree of dominance, both the cocoon weights are over dominance and the male and female cocoon layer ratio and weights are partial dominance. 3. The effect of general combing ability(GCA) on the 6 characters analysed in this experiments is higher than that of specific combining ability(SCA). 4. In the effect of GCA, the male cocoon weight of Jam 114 is the highest of 6 characters, the male and female cocoon layer ratio and weights of Jam 108 and the male cocoon weight of Jam 108 are relatively high. The effect of SCA on the female cocoon layer ratio of Jam 107×Jam 113, the female cocoon layer weight of Jam 108×Bokhyeong Jam, the male cocoon weight of Jam 108×Jung 14, the female cocoon weight of Jam 113×Nog Dong-A, the male and female cocoon weights and male cocoon layer weight of Jam 114×Bokhyeong Jam, and the female cocoon layer weight and the male and female cocoon layer ratio fo Jung 14×Nog Dong-A is estimated high. Generally, the combinations including the recommended strains of the siklworm such as Jam 108 and Jam 114 tend to be high in the effect of SCA.
Breeding ova New Silkworm Variety, Chunsujam, with a High Silk Yielding for Spring Rearing Season

A new silkworm variety, Chunsujam, for spring rearing season is F$_1$ hybrid between Japanese race Jam145 bred by 8459/8711 and Chinese race Jam146 by 8544/M8626. Jam145, Japanese parent of the Chunsujam, showed high GCA in pupation rate and Jam146, Chinese parent, showed high GCA in pupation rate and single cocoon weight. In the local adaptability test performed at 8 local areas in spring of 1999, Chunsujam was 5% higher in larval weight, 3% in single cocoon weight, and 4% in cocoon yield from 10,000 of the 3rd molted larvae, respectively, than the check variety Baegokjam.
Breeding of Two New Silkworm Varieties with Peculiar Laval Mark, Eolrukmal and Hukpyobeom

The Eolrukmal and Hukpyobeom varieties were bred for special purpose such as experience and education. The Eolrukmal variety was selected and succeeded from the F1 of Huka × Galwon in 2004 summer. It has stripes and brown half-moon body marks. The Hukpyobeom variety was selected and succeeded from the F1 of Remone × Hukho in 2004 summer. It has black body color and bright yellow segments. They are healthy yellow cocoon spining varieties showing over 93% of high practical hatching ratio and 93.1% of emergence ratio. The Eolrukmal moth laid 450 egg/batch and the Hukpyobeom moth laid 440 egg/batch.
Character Analysis of Silkworm Strains Registered as Genetic Stocks in Korea

In order for further systematic maintenance of silkworm stocks kept in Korea we analyzed character quality of a diverse array of silkworm strains originated from several sericulture-practicing countries. The analysis of about ten qualitative characters from 67 strains (13 of Japanese strains, 15 of Chinese strains, 14 of European strains, 6 of Korean and Tropical strains, and 19 of unknown origin) revealed a significant difference in the ten different qualitative characters among silkworm strains. In the analysis of quantitative characters, Japanese and European strains were highest in hatchability, the Korean and Tropical strains were highest in pupation rate, and unknown origin and Chinese strains were highest in cocoon yield and number of egg laid. With the connection of molecular genetic analysis the current data may provide the advanced ground for further systematic maintenance of valuable genetic resources of silkworms, although more breeds should be investigated for further complete pictures.

Yeonnokjam is a newly bred high yield special silkworm strain for spring rearing, bred from Japanese originated green cocoon spinning strain Jam 315 and Chinese originated white cocoon spinning strain Jam 316. This strain showed high hatching ratio of 96% and high healthiness of 96.7% of pupatin ratio. And its spins heavier cocoon with somewhat shorter fiber length but thicker fineness. The merits of these_strains are short larval period and labor saving, and its breeding goals are producing polish green silk and use for education.

A new silkworm variety, Kumhwangjam, with a sex-limited cocoon color for spring rearing season is F$_1$ hybrid between Jam 309, a Japanese race bred from Y1/9153, and Jam 310, a Chinese race from Y1/8586. In the local adaptability test performed at 8 local areas in spring rearing season of 2003, major characteristics of Kumhwangjam were mainly similar to those of the check variety Kumokjam. The new silkworm variety, Kumhwangjam, showed a sex-limited cocoon color: yellow for female and white for male with elliptical cocoon shape. This sex-limited cocoon color can be used as a valuable marker for discrimination between female and male for various purposes.

A new silkworm variety, Chugangjam, with a sex-limited larval marking and high silk yielding for summer-autumn rearing season is $F_1$ hybrid between Jam 147, a Japanese race bred from P8503/8453, and Jam 148, a Chinese race from M8306/Jam 130. Jam 147, Japanese parent of the Chugangjam showed a high GCA (general combining ability) in pupation percentage and Jam 148, Chinese parent, showed a high GCA in pupation percentage and single cocoon weight. In the local adaptability test performed at 8 local areas in autumn of 2001, Chugangjam was 5% higher in cocoon yield and 8% in raw silk productivity in the 10,000 of the 3rd molted larvae, respectively, than the check variety Daesungjam.
Breeding of a New Non-Cocooning Silkworm Variety, Hachojam, Suitable for Autumn Rearing Season

A new non-cocooning silkworm variety, Hachojam, suitable for autumn rearing season is single cross Fl hybrid between Japanese race Jam 307 and Chinese race Jam 126. Jam 307, Japanese parent of the Hachojam, which is a source for non-cocooning process showed a high GCA (generation combining ability) in naked pupation rate and Jam 126, Chinese parent, showed a high GCA in pupation rate and single pupal weight. In the local adaptability test performed at 8 local areas in autumn of 1999 to 2000, the naked pupation rate and thin cocoon rate of Hachojam were 64.7% and 35.3% , respectively. The pupal weight calculated from 10,000 of the 3rd molted larvae was 24% heavier in Hachcjam than the cocoon-producing, check variety Daesungjam.
