      • CriticalReviews in Oral Biology & Medicine: Pre-clinical Models for Oral and Periodontal Reconstructive Therapies

        Pellegrini, G.,Seol, Y.J.,Gruber, R.,Giannobile, W.V. SAGE Publications 2009 Journal of dental research Vol.88 No.12

<P>The development of new medical formulations (NMF) for reconstructive therapies has considerably improved the available treatment options for individuals requiring periodontal repair or oral implant rehabilitation. Progress in tissue engineering and regenerative medicine modalities strongly depends on validated pre-clinical research. Pre-clinical testing has contributed to the recent approval of NMF such as GEM 21 S® and INFUSE® bone grafts for periodontal and oral regenerative therapies. However, the selection of a suitable pre-clinical model for evaluation of the safety and efficacy of a NMF remains a challenge. This review is designed to serve as a primer to choose the appropriate pre-clinical models for the evaluation of NMF in situations requiring periodontal or oral reconstruction. Here, we summarize commonly used pre-clinical models and provide examples of screening and functional studies of NMF that can be translated into clinical use.</P>

PREDICTION OF THERMAL STRATIFICATION IN A U-BENT PIPE: A URANS VALIDATION

        Pellegrini, M.,Endo, H.,Ninokata, H. Korean Nuclear Society 2012 Nuclear Engineering and Technology Vol.44 No.1

In the present study, CFD is employed to investigate phenomena occurring during a process of thermal stratification in U-bent pipes at transitional Reynolds number. URANS evaluation had been chosen for its low computational costs during transient analysis and for the evaluation of modeling performance in these conditions. Application of CFD at transitional Reynolds number and buoyancy driven flows indeed contains deeper uncertainties in relation to the range of applicability for hydrodynamic and thermal models. The methodology applied in the work points out, through validations with the basic problems constituting the complex stratified phenomenon, the applicability of the current turbulence modeling. Accurate predictions have been found in relation to transitional Reynolds number in bent pipes and region of stability induced by the gravitational field. On the other hand the defects introduced in the unstable region of the U bent pipe, are discussed in relation to the adopted modeling.

      • THE NEW SOCIALLY RESPONSIBLE CONVERSATION BETWEEN COMPANIES AND CITIZENS AT WORK

Davide Pellegrini 글로벌지식마케팅경영학회 2014 Global Marketing Conference Vol.2014 No.7

The work analyses three key concepts frequently recalled and strictly correlated: contemporarity of dialogue, convergence of interests and collectivity of responsibilities. The continuous digital conversations between companies and customers are changing the value creation processes and leading to new positive convergence of customers and citizens at work. Convergence is driven by a renewed social sensitivity which is clearly influenced by collective responsibilities. After introducing the literature we bring logical arguments and empirical evidences to focus on the new convergence of market and society interests. Through a new Co-Value Model we measure the intensity of conversations contents: co-advertising contents show the highest level of consumer involvement, followed by co-planning, co-selling, co-use, co-post-sales, co-logistic and co-production. The metrics of the Co-Value Model are aimed to measure and reinforce the basic idea of convergence between the customer perspective- logic of money- and the citizen perspective -logic of gift-. Analyzing the continuous conversation between customer and companies within 21 international digital services, we demonstrate that a) the continuous digital conversations between companies and customers are changing definitively the value creation processes; b) the renewed social sensitivity gradually brings a new convergence between market and society interests which is evidenced by the high frequence of conversation focussed on social topics: c) the new convergence is driven by a renewed collective sense of co-responsibility. The findings show the robustness of the core concept of convergence: companies and customers maintain separate and complementary roles but their conversations are fundamentally remodelled both in content and in shape. Individuals are now called to play an economic role as prosumers, but at the same time, they have new opportunities as citizens for new forms of dialogue which reinforce their critical and social role. This is what we call convergence of interests. Market and society do not coincide, companies and customer act as counterparts and have different roles but their interests are converging. In many cases, prosumerism can generate a new loop between companies and consumers responsibility, and consumers can commit to this new social game of being customer and citizen at work. The model is applied to a large number of very recent case histories able to focus on the managerial implications of the new social game.

Performance of carbon fiber added to anodes of conductive cement-graphite pastes used in electrochemical chloride extraction in concretes

        M. J. Pellegrini-Cervantes,C. P. Barrios-Durstewitz,R. E. Nú,ñ,ez-Jaquez,F. J. Baldenebro-Lopez,R. Corral-Higuera,S. P. Arredondo-Rea,M. Rodriguez-Rodriguez,O. Llanes-Cardenas,R. Beltran-Chaco 한국탄소학회 2018 Carbon Letters Vol.26 No.-

Pollution of chloride ion-reinforced concrete can trigger active corrosion processes that reduce the useful life of structures. Multifunctional materials used as a counter-electrode by electrochemical techniques have been used to rehabilitate contaminated concrete. Cement-based pastes added to carbonaceous material, fibers or dust, have been used as an anode in the non-destructive Electrochemical Chloride Extraction (ECE) technique. We studied the performance of the addition of Carbon Fiber (CF) in a cement-graphite powder base paste used as an anode in ECE of concretes contaminated with chlorides from the preparation of the mixture. The experimental parameters were: 2.3% of free chlorides, 21 days of ECE application, a Carbon Fiber Volume Fraction (CFVF) of 0.1, 0.3, 0.6, 0.9%, a lithium borate alkaline electrolyte, a current density of 4.0 A / m2 and a cement/graphite ratio of 1.0 for the paste. The efficiency of the ECE in the traditional technique using metal mesh as an anode was 77.6% and for CFVF of 0.9% it was 90.4%, with a tendency to increase to higher percentages of the CFVF in the conductive cement-graphite paste, keeping the pH stable and achieving a homogeneous ECE in the mass of the concrete contaminated with chlorides.
