        A study was performed to investigate the effect of electrical stimulation on disused and denervated rat skeletal muscle(soleus). The microstructural changes on soleus were examined with electron microscope(Transmission Electron Microscope). The results are summarized as follows. First, Photomicrographs of soleus muscle in casting treated rat are convolution of Z-line and Myofilaments, and absence of M-line in some A-band. There are some vacuoles in A-band, I-band A-I junction. Second, Also indentation of nuclear membrane, the absence of sarcolemma(arrow), and the convolted myofilaments. Third, The soleus in electrical stimulated rat after casting are increased aspect of sarcosomes. Fourth, Also the repaired aspect of basal lamina in sarcolemma(allow). Fifth, Denervated soleus are severe atrophic changed, also cannot finded any structural changed. These results indicate that the electrical strmulation effected on soleus, delayed of muscular atrophy on disused muscle atrophy.

      • 전기자극치료의 효과에 대한 고찰

        There was a time, some years ageo, when the general consensus was benefical to denervated muscle but had no effect on innervated muscle. To day climate has changed. The latest buzz words include high volt Galvanic current and functional electrical stimulation, both of which describe electrical methods for improving the strength and endurance of normal muscle in human. It now seems that electrical stimulation can indeed be used safely and effectively to influence innervated muscle. With denervated muscle, however, the current picture is less optimistic. Many investigators have reported that electrical stimulation to substitute for the possible chemical trophic effects involved in innervation. Furthermore, since many of these positive reports were based on animal studies carried out over relatively short time spans. Finally, there is the question of whether it is worth the time, effort, and money to give years of controversial treatment.

        To investigate the pharmacokinetic difference between the two amoxicillin (AMX) particles in rabbits after intramuscular injection (i.m.), both of AMX-S (particle size: 10 ㎍) and AMX-L (particle size: 100 ㎍) were injected into New Zealand White rabbits (1.2±0.3 ㎏) at a dose rate of 10 ㎎/㎏ of body weight. In this study, serum AMX concentrations were detected by microbiological assay with E. coli BE 1186 which shows high antibiotic sensitivity. After i.m. administration, AMX-S and AMX-L were best fitted as 1-compartment model with the absorption and elimination phase. The biological half-life (T_1/2, _k10) of AMX-S is 4.06±1.09 h and that of AMX-L 4.76±0.69 h. The serum maximal concentration time (T_max) of AMX-S and AMX-L were 0.88±0.17 h and 0.77±0.11 h, respectively. Maximal AMX concentration (C_max) (AMX-S: 5.71±0.62 ㎍/㎖, AMX-L: 5.04±0.25 ㎍/㎖) in serum showed a significant difference (p<0.05). In terms of bioequivalance, however, there was no difference between the two AMX's after i.m. injection in the basis of C_max and AUC.

        This study is widely used in this field of physical therapy, by considering from past to present of electrical stimulation treatment, we could have an outlook for the possibility of the practical use of electrical treatment. Electical stimulation treatment has used to animals a well as humen by many scientists using a lower frequency. Electrical stimulation has been applied to human and animals by many scholars until now. At the early stage, induced current or interrupted galvanic current, sign pulse current were used but now, we use microcurrent. Microcurrent making use of high voltage pulse current induces body electrical current. Recently, as a method of electrical stimulation in human innerorgan, electrical stimulation treatment for stomach, constipation, urinary incontinence is becoming generalized. we are anticipating for the success of functional electrical stimulation treatment, which has the? control ability of stimulation in nerve tissue, collecting among many sign and hamonizing patient's ability with functional electrical stimulation. 본 연구의 물리치료분야에서 널리 사용되고 있는 전기자극치료의 과거와 현재를 고찰해 봄으로 앞으로 전기치료의 활용가능성을 조명해보는데 있다. 전기자극은 저주파전류를 이용하여 많은 학자들에 의해 서 현재까지 사람과 동물에 적용해 왔다. 초기에는 감응전류나 단속평류 그리고 정현파전류가 사용되었으나 최근에는 생체에 흐르는 전류량을 줄이는 방법인 고압맥동직류전류를 이용한 미세전류를 사용하고 있다. 최근에는 인체의 내부 장기에 전기자극을 하는 방법으로 위장관 전기자극치료와 이완성변비치료를 위한 전기자극치료, 그리고 요실금 치료를 위한 전기자극치료도 일반화되고 있다. 기능성전기자극치료는 앞으로 신경조직의 흥분을 제어할 수 있는 능력, 여러 가지 신호 중에 어느 하나 또는 몇 개를 골라서 제어하는 방법, 환자가 아직도 유지하고 있는 기능을 F기능적전기자극에 조화시키는 방법 등에 따라 크게 발전할 것으로 기대된다.

      • 인공 온천수가 건성 및 지성 피부 개선에 미치는 영향

        2004년 3월 29일부터 4월 28일까지 본 실험에 참가하기로 동의한 대구광역시 내 모대학에 재학 중 인 20대 초반의 학생 50명을 대상으로 건성과 지성 피부로 나누고 건성과 지성 피부군에 적용한 온천수의 종류에 따라 건성 유산온천군, 지성 유산온천군, 건성 탄산온천군, 지성탄산온천군, 건성 식염온천군, 지성 식염온천군으로 나누어 수분, 유분, pH 실험한 결과 다음과 같은 성적을 얻었다. 1. 유산 온천수가 피부에 미치는 영향을 알아본 결과 피부 상태에 대한 만족도의 경우, 건성 피부군(p<0.05)과 지성피부군(p<0.01) 모두 유산 온천수를 적용하기 전에 비해 적용 후에 만족도가 상승하였다. 수분 함량, 유분 함량, pH의 경우 건성 피부군에서는 통계적인 차이는 없었지만 약간씩 증가하였던 반면, 지성피부군에서는 수분 함량은 통계적인 차이는 없지만 약간 감소하였고, 유분은 증가하였으며, pH는 감소하였다. 2. 탄산 온천수가 피부에 미치는 영향을 알아본 결과 피부 상태에 대한 만족도의 경우, 건성피부군에서 만족도가 상승하였지만 통계적인 차이가 없었던 반면 지성피부군에서는 만족도가 상승하였다(p<0.01). 수분함량, 유분함량, pH의 경우 건성피부군에서는 통계적인 차이는 없지만 약간씩 증가하였으며, 지성피부군에서는 수분함량이나 pH는 통계적인 차이는 없지만 약간 증가한 반면 유분함량의 경우는 많은 양이 감소하였다(p<0.01). 3. 식염 온천수가 피부에 미치는 영향을 알아본 결과 피부 상태에 대한 만족도의 경우, 건성 피부군이나(p<0.05), 지성 피부군(p<0.05) 모두에서 만족도가 상승하였다. 수분 함량, 유분 함량, pH를 보면 건성 피부군에서는 통계적으로 유의한 차이가 날 정도로 수분함량(p<0.05)과 유분함량(p<0.05)이 증가하였다. 반면 pH는 약간 감소하였지만 통계적인 차이는 없었다. 지성 피부군의 경우는 수분 함량, 유분 함량 모두 약간 증가하였지만 유의한 차이는 없었고, pH는 오히려 약간 감소하였지만 역시 통계적인 차이는 없었다. 이상의 결과를 볼 때 온천수는 종류에 관계없이 피부 만족도를 증가시킬 수 있으며, 특히 탄산 온천수의 경우는 지성 피부군의 유분 감소에 더 효과적임을 알 수 있고, 식염 온천수는 지성 피부군에 비해 건성 피부군의 수분 함량과 유분 함량을 증가시키는데 더 효과적인 반면 유산 온천수는 피부에 많은 영향을 주지 못하였음을 알 수 있다. The purpose of this study were to measured effect of dry and lipid skin by artificial balneotherapy. The subjects in dry and lipid skin experimentation is consist of six group(dry sulfate spring(N=10), oily sulfate spring(N=10), dry carbonate spring(N=10), oily carbonate spring(N=10), dry brine spring(N=10), oily brine spring(N=10). The obtain result are as follows: 1. The sulfate spring application in skin were improved satisfaction dry skin group(p<0.05) and oily skin group(p<0.01) than pre sulfate spring application. 2. The carbonate spring application in skin was improved satisfaction oily skin group(p<0.01) than pre carbonate spring application. 3. The brine spring application in skin were improved satisfaction dry skin group(p<0.05) and oily skin group(p<0.05) than pre brine spring application. Dry skin group were significantly improved moist content(p<0.05), oily content(p<0.05) than pre brine spring application.

        국내 말라리아 퇴치사업의 현황 분석과 개선 방안

        Background : Vivax malaria had spread rapidly in areas adjacent to the Demilitarized Zone to reach more than 4,000 cases in 2000 in the Republic of Korea (ROK). After year 2000, annual cases decreased rapidly to reach less than 1,000 cases in 2004. However, the number increased again since 2005. Epidemiological characteristics of vivax malaria in the ROK are different before and after 2000. This article was aimed to evaluate the current status of malaria elimination project in the ROK for providing suggestions for its improvement. Materials and Methods : We analyzed the total reported malaria cases during 2005 to 2007 and reviewed the record on the malaria eradication project performed by the authorizations including the Korea Center for Disease Control and Prevention. Results : During 2005 to 2007, 45% of all the vivax malaria occurred in patients living in the non-prevalent areas; the interval between first symptom onset and diagnosis was longer in the non-prevalent areas compared to that in the prevalent areas. Education and publicity on malaria has not been properly performed in the non-prevalent areas. The military didn't take part in the control of the malaria infected discharged soldiers, most of whom might have been infected with malaria during their military service. Conclusion : For the efficient control of malaria and thus improving the effectiveness of the elimination project education and publicity on malaria in the non-prevalent areas should be strengthened and cooperation between private and military sector regarding the ex-soldiers infected with malaria is essential, In addition, there should be bilateral communication among malaria-related teams within the Korea Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and also among all the malaria-related sectors. Furthermore a common database on malaria patients and vector mosquitoes should be formed to grant access to all the malaria-related sectors, Improvement on report and surveillance system is also necessary.
