Park, Ji Seon,Bae, Su Jung,Choi, Sik-Won,Son, You Hwa,Park, Sung Bum,Rhee, Sang Dal,Kim, Hee Youn,Jung, Won Hoon,Kang, Seung Kyu,Ahn, Jin Hee,Kim, Seong Hwan,Kim, Ki Young Society for Endocrinology 2014 Journal of molecular endocrinology Vol.52 No.2
<P>Selective inhibitors of 11β-hydroxysteroid dehydrogenase type 1 (11β-HSD1) have considerable potential as treatment for osteoporosis as well as metabolic syndrome including type 2 diabetes mellitus. Here, we investigated the anti-diabetic, anti-adipogenic, and anti-osteoporotic activity of KR-67500, as a novel selective 11β-HSD1 inhibitor. Cellular 11β-HSD1 activity was tested based on a homogeneous time-resolved fluorescence method. Oral glucose tolerance test (OGTT) and insulin tolerance test (ITT) levels were measured in diet-induced obese (DIO)-C57BL/6 mice administered KR-67500 (50 mg/kg per day, p.o.) for 28 days and, additionally, its anti-diabetic effect was evaluated by OGTT and ITT. The <I>in vitro</I> anti-adipogenic effect of KR-67500 was determined by Oil Red O Staining. The <I>in vitro</I> anti-osteoporotic activity of KR-67500 was evaluated using bone morphogenetic protein 2 (BMP2)-induced osteoblast differentiation and receptor activator of nuclear factor-κB ligand (RANKL)-induced osteoclast differentiation model systems. KR-67500 improved the <I>in vivo</I> glucose tolerance and insulin sensitivity in DIO-C57BL/6 mice. KR-67500 suppressed cortisone-induced differentiation of 3T3-L1 cells into adipocytes. KR-67500 enhanced BMP2-induced osteoblastogenesis in C2C12 cells and inhibited RANKL-induced osteoclastogenesis in mouse bone marrow-derived macrophages. KR-67500, a new selective 11β-HSD1 inhibitor, may provide a new therapeutic window in the prevention and/or treatment of type 2 diabetes, obesity, and/or osteoporosis.</P>
The Image of Derivations on Banach Algebras of Differential Functions
Park, Dal-Won 충청수학회 1989 충청수학회지 Vol.2 No.1
Let $D:C^n(I){\longrightarrow}M$ be a derivation from the Banach algebra of n times continuously differentiable functions on an interval I into a Banach $C^n(I)$-module M. If D is continuous and D(z) is contained in the k-differential subspace, the image of D is contained in the k-differential subspace. The question of when the image of a derivation is contained in the k-differential subspace is discussed.

Fluidized bed combustion of high ash anthracite (HAA) was experimentally studied. The combustor consists of 0.25m ID bed, and auxiliary equipments for coal feeding, ash removal, temperature control, etc. Experimental results elucidate main cause of fuel loss to be elutriation of fines(i.e., flyash) containing unburned carbon. However, detailed balances of particle size distribution show majority of carbon in flyash comes from fines contained in the feed instead of attrition of coarse particles. The latter is the main source of flyash for conventional coal. The difference is due to much smaller attrition rate of HAA feed HAA panicles do not shrink much in size by combustion and attrition.
Second Order Derivations on Cn [0, 1]
DAL WON PARK 충청수학회 1990 충청수학회지 Vol.3 No.1
Let D’ : Cn[0, 1] → M be a second order derivation from the Banach algebra of n times continuously differentiable functions on [0, 1] into a Banach Cn[0, 1]-module M and let D be the primitive of D’. If D’ is continuous and D’(z) lies in the 1-differential subspace, then it is completely determined by D(z) and D’(z) where z(t) = t, 0 ≤ t ≤ 1.
Removal of SOx and NOx from Flue Gas With Ceria
Park, Won Hoon,Park, Dal Keun,Choi, Eun Young,Lee, Joong Kee 한국화학공학회 1994 NICE Vol.12 No.2
Ceria(CeO₂) is considered as one of materials for the simultaneous renuval of SO_x and N0, from flue gas. Ceria was coated on honeycomb and tested for adsorption of SO₂ and reduction of NO with ammonia. Experimental results showed the characteristics similar to copper oxide but reactivity for NO reduction was higher in broader temperature range compared with the latter.
Antioxidative Phenolic Compounds from the Whole Plant of Juncus diastrophanthus
Park, Sae-Rom,Yang, Seok-Won,Ahn, Dal-Rea,Yang, Jae-Heon,Kim, Dae-Keun The Korean Society for Applied Biological Chemistr 2011 Applied Biological Chemistry (Appl Biol Chem) Vol.54 No.5
Methanol extract of Juncus diastrophanthus (Juncaceae) was found to show potent antioxidant activity. Subsequent activity-guided fractionation of methanol extract of J. diastrophanthus led to the isolation of seven flavonoid compounds, isorhamnetin-3-O-${\alpha}$-L-rhamnopyranosyl(1${\rightarrow}$6)-${\beta}$-D-glucopyranoside, narcissin (1), quercetin-3-O-${\alpha}$-L-rhamnopyranosyl(1${\rightarrow}$6)-${\beta}$-D-glucopyranoside, rutin (2), kaempferol-3-O-${\alpha}$-L-rhamnopyranosyl(1${\rightarrow}$6)-${\beta}$-D-glucopyranoside (3), quercetin (4), quercetin-3-O-${\alpha}$-L-rhamnopyranoside, quercitrin (5), quercetin-3-O-${\beta}$-D-xylopyranoside (6), and luteolin (7). These compounds were isolated for the first time from this plant. Compounds 4 and 7 showed significant antioxidative effects on 1,1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl, and compound 5 showed significant riboflavin-originated superoxide and xanthine-originated superoxide quenching activities.

The paper presents an automated method for generating fuzzy rules and fuzzy membership functions fox pattern classification from training sets of examples and an application to the land-cover classification. Initially, fuzzy subspaces are created from the partitions formed by the minimum and maximum of individual feature values of each class. The initial membership functions are determined according to the generated fuzzy partitions. The fuzzy subspaces are further iteratively partitioned if the user-specified classification performance has not been archived on the training set. Our classifier was trained and tested on patterns consisting of the DN of each band, (XS1, XS2, XS3), extracted from KITSAT-3 multispectral scene. The result represents that our classification method has higher generalization power.
