Patient-led perspectives on ehealth: How might hyperpersonal data inform design?
Pam Briggs,Claire Hardy,Peter R. Harris,Elizabeth Sillence 한국HCI학회 2014 한국HCI학회 학술대회 Vol.2014 No.12
Patients and carers frequently get their health information and advice from websites containing patient-led, shared health experiences. This means that they often engage in a very idiosyncratic selection process in order to determine which websites have personally resonant material. In this paper we used a Repertory Grid (repgrid) technique to elicit the very personal constructs that individuals use to discriminate between websites. We recruited patients with chronic asthma and carers of people with multiple sclerosis (MS), presenting each patient/carer with a set of health websites relevant to their condition and asking them to sort them using a standard repgrid procedure. We were then able to generate hyperpersonal representations of those constructs associated with liked and trusted vs. disliked and mistrusted sites, giving us new insights into the ways individual patients can navigate the health web.

The complete moment-curvature curves of doubly reinforced concrete beams made of normal- or high-strength concrete have been evaluated using a newly developed analytical method that takes into account the stress-path dependence of the constitutive properties of the materials. From the moment-curvature curves and the strain distribution results obtained, the post-peak behavior and flexural ductility of doubly reinforced normal- and high-strength concrete beam sections are studied. It is found that the major factors affecting the flexural ductility of reinforced concrete beam sections are the tension steel ratio, compression steel ratio and concrete grade. Generally, the flexural ductility decreases as the amount of tension reinforcement increases, but increases as the amount of compression reinforcement increases. However, the effect of the concrete grade on flexural ductility is fairly complicated, as will be explained in the paper. Quantitative analysis of such effects has been carried out and a formula for direct evaluation of the flexural ductility of doubly reinforced concrete sections developed. The formula should be useful for the ductility design of doubly reinforced normal- and high-strength concrete beams.
Competencies and employer engagement
Pam Irwin 서울대학교 교육연구소 2008 Asia Pacific Education Review Vol.9 No.1
Using the UK experience as a template, this paper explores the concept of competencies as a viable bridge to employer engagement. In this context, the definition of competency coalesces into three primary interpretations (input, output and 'behaviour'), leading to three applications: work related skill sets, standards and professionalism. These in turn, inform intersecting relationships - the link between employer skills needs and education (work-based learning), educational and workplace competency, and quality (accreditation of employer based training, and credit accumulation and transfer systems) and vocational competency (fit for practice, and fit for purpose). For each element, relevant models and indicative practice is presented. The paper concludes by offsetting competencies with employer engagement, and offers approaches (vignettes) to actively advance this critical agenda.

This paper describes a research project, "Voices from Manukau", that investigated the impact of a joint initiative by a university and an institute of technology in New Zealand. The purpose of the initiative was to increase the participation of students traditionally under represented at tertiary-level study, particularly MAori (indigenous people) and individuals from Pacific Island nations. Many of the participants were adults who had not experienced high levels of success during their compulsory period of education and they lived in low socio-economic areas. We found that participation of under-represented groups increased. The "Manukau" students were as successful as other undergraduate students studying at the university. Of particular interest was the high level of success of MAori and Pacific Island students.

Peste des petits ruminants (PPR) diagnosis from suspected samples from sheep and goats was carried out. Buffy coat, tissues, and oculo-nasal swabs were analyzed using nucleoprotein (NP3/NP4) and fusion protein (F1/F2) gene primers, respectively. Analysis of the sample types and primer set revealed that buffy coat are the best type of samples for PPR diagnosis and the use of two set of primers will increase the number of positives.

For the exact status of the land such as land cover classification and land use classification, feature classification system has been utilized in several organizations and agencies. However, those classification systems are limited to detection of land change and it's also not suited for the extraction of land changed. In this study, we would proposed a standard feature classification system which presents both in natural and artificial change of land effectively. Based on comparison and analysis of domestic and foreign relevant feature classification system, we proposed a standard feature classification system. In order to validate the applicability of the proposed feature classification system, we evaluated the accuracy with using automatic feature classification bascd on supervised classification and pre-knowledge hierarchical classification.
