A New Communication Recipe for Going Global in the Recorded Music Industry: The Case of Anitta’s Checkmate Project

Nicole Mallmann,신상우 한국경영커뮤니케이션학회 2023 Business Communication Research and Practice Vol.6 No.2

Objectives: Numerous attempts have been made to penetrate the global music markets. A successful entry scales substantially up the profit stream otherwise generated, although the chance of success is very slim. It is thereby imperative to implement a well-designed globalization plan. This paper introduces one such case, Anitta’s Checkmate project, and illustrates its major strategic constituents and well-coordinated marketing communication campaign. Methods: The case of Anitta’s Checkmate project described in this paper paves the way for going global in the recorded music industry. Our case analysis focuses on deciphering various strategic elements of the Checkmate project and forwards their conceptual underpinnings and practical implications. Results: The Checkmate project makes Anitta’s global debut seamlessly. This project is featured mostly by Anitta’s collaboration with a thoughtful selection of internationally renowned artists. Other than this co-branding strategy, Anitta adopts a diverse array of communication tactics that together create both online and offline buzz for her global launch. Lastly, Anitta’s never-ending investment in building her own personal brand stretches her successful globalization further to even today. Conclusions: The case study in this paper showcases a new blend of marketing communication strategies for going global in the recorded music industry, thereby lending keen insights into what should be part of a well-designed globalization plan.

Platybasia in 22q11.2 Deletion Syndrome Is Not Correlated with Speech Resonance

        Nicole E Spruijt,Moshe Kon,Aebele B Mink van der Molen 대한성형외과학회 2014 Archives of Plastic Surgery Vol.41 No.4

Background: An abnormally obtuse cranial base angle, also known as platybasia, is a commonfinding in patients with 22q11.2 deletion syndrome (22q11DS). Platybasia increases the depthof the velopharynx and is therefore postulated to contribute to velopharyngeal dysfunction. Our objective was to determine the clinical significance of platybasia in 22q11DS by exploringthe relationship between cranial base angles and speech resonance. Methods: In this retrospective chart review at a tertiary hospital, 24 children (age, 4.0–13.1years) with 22q11.2DS underwent speech assessments and lateral cephalograms, whichallowed for the measurement of the cranial base angles. Results: One patient (4%) had hyponasal resonance, 8 (33%) had normal resonance, 10 (42%)had hypernasal resonance on vowels only, and 5 (21%) had hypernasal resonance on bothvowels and consonants. The mean cranial base angle was 136.5° (standard deviation, 5.3°;range, 122.3–144.8°). The Kruskal-Wallis test showed no significant relationship between theresonance ratings and cranial base angles (P=0.242). Cranial base angles and speech ratingswere not correlated (Spearman correlation=0.321, P=0.126). The group with hypernasalresonance had a significantly more obtuse mean cranial base angle (138° vs. 134°, P=0.049)but did not have a greater prevalence of platybasia (73% vs. 56%, P=0.412). Conclusions: In this retrospective chart review of patients with 22q11DS, cranial base angleswere not correlated with speech resonance. The clinical significance of platybasia remainsunknown.

Self-Reported Speech Problems in Adolescents and Young Adults with 22q11.2 Deletion Syndrome: A Cross-Sectional Cohort Study

        Nicole E Spruijt,Jacob AS Vorstman,Moshe Kon,Aebele B Mink van der Molen 대한성형외과학회 2014 Archives of Plastic Surgery Vol.41 No.5

Background: Speech problems are a common clinical feature of the 22q11.2 deletionsyndrome. The objectives of this study were to inventory the speech history and current selfreportedspeech rating of adolescents and young adults, and examine the possible variablesinfluencing the current speech ratings, including cleft palate, surgery, speech and languagetherapy, intelligence quotient, and age at assessment. Methods: In this cross-sectional cohort study, 50 adolescents and young adults with the22q11.2 deletion syndrome (ages, 12–26 years, 67% female) filled out questionnaires. Aneuropsychologist administered an age-appropriate intelligence quotient test. The demographics, histories, and intelligence of patients with normal speech (speech rating=1) werecompared to those of patients with different speech (speech rating>1). Results: Of the 50 patients, a minority (26%) had a cleft palate, nearly half (46%) underwenta pharyngoplasty, and all (100%) had speech and language therapy. Poorer speech ratingswere correlated with more years of speech and language therapy (Spearman’s correlation=0.418, P=0.004; 95% confidence interval, 0.145–0.632). Only 34% had normal speechratings. The groups with normal and different speech were not significantly different withrespect to the demographic variables; a history of cleft palate, surgery, or speech and languagetherapy; and the intelligence quotient. Conclusions: All adolescents and young adults with the 22q11.2 deletion syndrome hadundergone speech and language therapy, and nearly half of them underwent pharyngoplasty. Only 34% attained normal speech ratings. Those with poorer speech ratings had speech andlanguage therapy for more years.

Characteristics of nonalcoholic fatty liver disease induced in wistar rats following four different diets

        Nicole Fakhoury-Sayegh,Viviane Trak-Smayra,Aline Khazzaka,Fady Esseily,Omar Obeid,May Lahoud-Zouein,Hassan Younes 한국영양학회 2015 Nutrition Research and Practice Vol.9 No.4

BACKGROUND/OBJECTIVES: The prevalence of nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) has increased worldwide in parallel with overnutrition characterized by high-fat and high-carbohydrate intake. Our objective was to establish, in 16 weeks, a model of NAFLD in Wistar pathogen-free rats following four dietary types. MATERIALS/METHODS: Forty (6 weeks old) healthy Wistar male rats, weighing an average of 150 g were randomly divided into four groups of ten and assigned a diet with the same quantity (15 g/rat/day), but with different composition. The moderate-fat (MF) group was fed a moderate-fat diet (31.5% fat and 50% carbohydrates), the high-fat (HF) group was fed a fat-rich diet (51% fat), the high-sucrose (HS) group and the high-fructose (HFr) group were fed a carbohydrate-rich diet (61%). The carbohydrate contents of the HS group was composed of 60.3% sucrose while that of the HFr group was composed of 59.3% fructose. RESULTS: At week 16, the HF group had the highest percentage of cells enriched in fat (40%) and the highest weight and liver weight (P < 0.05). The HFr group showed significantly higher levels of serum triglycerides, alanine aminotransferase and adiponectin at week 16 as compared to week 1 (P < 0.05). CONCLUSIONS: The 15 g/rat/day diet composed of 51% fat or 61% carbohydrates enriched mainly in fructose may induce characteristics of NAFLD in rats.

Characterizing malaria spatial distribution in the province of Palawan, Philippines

        Nicole Faith D. Blanco,Arnold R. Salvacion,Ma. Catriona E. Devanadera,Edwin R. Abucay,Ricardo A. Sandalo 대한공간정보학회 2022 Spatial Information Research Vol.30 No.2

Palawan, an island province in the Philippines, accounts for ninety percent of the country’s malaria cases. A total of 18 of 23 municipalities and one city in Palawan remain malaria-endemic, placing the population at risk of infection despite continuous preventive measures. This study describes trends and analyzes the spatial distribution of confirmed malaria cases in Palawan during eleven-year period (2005–2015). The reported monthly positive malaria cases per municipality from 2005 to 2015 were obtained from the Provincial Health Office, which was aggregated and used in trend and spatial analysis. High malaria risk areas were determined using the Moran’s I and Getis-Ord Gi*. The Mann–Kendall test results revealed that there had been a significant downward trend of confirmed positive cases from 2005 to 2015, with transmission peaks in 2007 and 2010. Among the three districts in the province, district 2 reported the highest total cases comprising 65 percent of the province’s total reported malaria cases, followed by district 3 with 20 percent, and 15 percent were from district 1. High malaria concentration was observed in municipalities located in the southern part of the province, including Rizal, Narra, Brooke’s Point, Sofronio Espan˜ola, and Bataraza (in district 2). Puerto Princesa City (in District 3) was among the municipalities with high malaria transmission during 2005–2011. The results of this study could help in determining targeted malaria control interventions and prioritizing resource allocation for areas with high malaria transmission for future public health planning. This would also contribute to efforts of the public and private sectors to eliminate malaria in Palawan Province by 2030.

Disability in Travel & Tourism : Exploration of the Korean Activity Support Worker Training Course

Nicole Jody Shipton 피터드러커 소사이어티 2023 창조와 혁신 Vol.16 No.3

It is essential to create an environment where the disabled and the elderly can travel and tour conveniently and safely. An Activity Support Worker refers to a person who has completed a specialized training course to work with people with disabilities. Since the Disability Discrimination Act in 2007, there has been a shift away from the Welfare model of disability towards a Human Rights model: People with disability must be given the same legal access to resources as their non-disabled counterparts. The Korea Tourism Organization (KTO) 2023 Industrial Plan Presentation held January 2023 seeks to help advance education for improving awareness of disabilities and the area of travel and tourism for people with disability as one of their mandates. It is the purpose of the current research to understand what is being done within the educational training setting for the Activity Support Worker, those who interact directly on a day-to-day basis with people with disability. For this research participant observation and content analysis are used for the Activity Support Worker Training course created by the Korean Ministry of Health & Welfare and the Korea Disabled People’s Development Institute. The current research indicates that the current educational training module reflects little in the way of providing the Activity Support Worker information or support for people with disability for tourism, travel and transportation and suggests ways to improve future course delivery.
