Así es la vida, relectura realista de Arturo Ripstein de la Medea de Séneca en el cine mexicano
Noelia Núñez Preza 서울대학교 라틴아메리카연구소 2023 이베로아메리카硏究 Vol.34 No.1
This article analyzes Arturo Ripstein's Mexican film Así es la vida (2000), based on the play Medea (60-61 d. C), by Seneca. The aim of this study has been to present, in addition to the existing correspondences between the literary text and the filmic text (characters, structure and action scenario), the director´s particular point of view through the updating of this Latin tragedy, using Mexican melodrama, but also making a critical re-reading of this genre through irony. Likewise, a review has been made of the presence of the myth of Medea in both literature and film and the evolution of the myth over time. The methodological approach has been based on the proposal of the literary theorist Gérard Genette in his work Palimpsestes. La littérature au second degré (1982), which identifies those hypertextual practices present in the film being analyzed, that is, if there are stylistic, formal o tematics transformations or imitations related to the original text.

Analysis of the Characteristics of Retro - Futuristic Design - A Case Study of Alexander McQueen
Alfonso N. Núñez Barranco,유영선 한국복식학회 2023 International journal of costume and fashion Vol.23 No.2
This study conducts a comprehensive analysis of retro-futuristic design elements present in Alexander McQueen’s collections, categorizing them into specific expressions of Retro-Futurism. By identifying and examining these design characteristics, the study aims to provide valuable insights and establish a structured fashion design method for understanding the characteristics and expressions of Retro-Futurism in contemporary fashion design. The collected cases were divided into four main categories: Utopic Retro-Futurism, Fantastic Retro-Futurism, Primitive Retro-Futurism, and Scientific Retro-Futurism. In each category, different expression forms of Retro-Futurism were analyzed. The results are as follows. Utopic Retro-Futurism based on politics, military, and propaganda, contains a significant predominance of black along chromatic colors and a predominance of leather as the main fabric and texture. Fantastic Retro-Futurism based on religion and science fiction, showed figures related to past religious garments and science fiction horror movies, legends or short novels closely related to fantasy. Primitive Retro-Futurism category was divided into three basic sections from a futuristic vision: tribal, ethnic, and archaic. Scientific Retro-Futurism was divided into elements related to technology, space, science, or robotics.
Rheological behavior of blood in Wistar rats with different total cholesterol levels
Medina-Torres Luis,Calderas Fausto,Calderas Fausto,Núñez–Ramírez Diola-Marina,Castro Andrés Navarrete,Bernad-Bernad Ma. Josefa,Manero Octavio 한국유변학회 2022 Korea-Australia rheology journal Vol.34 No.4
Blood is a rheologically complex suspension, in which the soluble fraction contains proteins, total cholesterol and triglycerides. The blood rheological behavior is strongly affected by the concentration of these components. This work evaluates the total cholesterol effect on the rheological behavior of Wistar rat blood by means of an in vitro study. Twenty-one rats were divided into 3 groups, each one had an assigned diet with different fat content: reference group (RG) with 3%, medium fat content group (MG) with 4.5% and high-fat content group (HG) with 6.5%; in the latter group, mixed-vegetable fat was added. From each group, intraocular representative blood samples were taken with time lapse of 15 days between each sampling followed by biochemical and hemo-rheological tests. The first analysis detected changes in total cholesterol levels, attributed to the rat metabolism, formation of adipose tissue and competition for food. The second test consisted in steady simple-shear and linear oscillatory flow. The linear viscoelastic spectra reveal that the viscous modulus is larger than the elastic modulus (G > G′), with simple-shear viscosity exhibiting shear-thinning behavior. An important finding is a pseudo-solid- like behavior at low frequencies (1 rad/s) akin to the presence of yield stresses in the high-fat content group after 30 days, revealing strong interactions between total cholesterol levels and blood cells. The hemo-rheological tests represent a promising alternative to identify pathologies present in the blood (total cholesterol, digestive problems, and diabetes).

Biotic and abiotic stresses aff ect plant growth and productivity. High-salinity stress aff ects crop yield, causing fi nancialloss to growers. The use of salt-tolerant rootstocks is a strategy that has been used to reduce salt damage in crops. A studywas conducted to evaluate the eff ect of salinity-resistant rootstocks on the physiological and morphological characteristicsof bell pepper plants grown under greenhouse conditions. A factorial experiment was conducted using a completely randomizeddesign with two factors. The bell pepper ‘Viper’ cultivar was grafted on two reported salinity-tolerant rootstocks(E21R10144 and E21R10197), and non-grafted (NG) plants were used as the control. Four salinity levels were applied tothe plants (electrical conductivity treatments using NaCl of 2, 4, 6, and 8 dS m −1 ) in Steiner nutritive solution (100%). Theresponse to salinity was determined using morphological and physiological plant parameters, including fruit yield. Increasedtolerance to salinity conditions (NaCl) was observed in the ‘Viper’ bell pepper grafted on E21R10144, which allowed greaterplant height, stem diameter, leaf size, as well as fresh and dry biomass of both the roots and canopy. The impacts on plantphysiological response, including photosynthesis, stomatal conductance, transpiration, water content, stomatal density, andfoliar area, were also determined. Our results indicate that the use of the salinity-tolerant bell pepper rootstock E21R10144maintained plant homeostasis and minimized the damage caused by salts to the morphology and physiology, as well as eff ectson fruit yield; thus, it is a promising tool for the management of salt stress.
The interplay between host immune cells and gut microbiota in chronic inflammatory diseases
김동현,Melody Y Zeng,Gabriel Núñez 생화학분자생물학회 2017 Experimental and molecular medicine Vol.49 No.-
Many benefits provided by the gut microbiota to the host rely on its intricate interactions with host cells. Perturbations of the gut microbiota, termed gut dysbiosis, affect the interplay between the gut microbiota and host cells, resulting in dysregulation of inflammation that contributes to the pathogenesis of chronic inflammatory diseases, including inflammatory bowel disease, multiple sclerosis, allergic asthma and rheumatoid arthritis. In this review, we provide an overview of how gut bacteria modulates host metabolic and immune functions, summarize studies that examined the roles of gut dysbiosis in chronic inflammatory diseases, and finally discuss measures to correct gut dysbiosis as potential therapeutics for chronic inflammatory diseases.

Background: The Gasserian ganglion is a well-known target for facial pain management, and patients with cancer present an anatomical challenge owing to tumor progression or treatment itself. Computed tomography (CT) is an alternative method for guiding these procedures. Methods: This was an observational retrospective analysis of patients with cancer-related facial pain who underwent CT-guided Gasserian ganglion interventions using local anesthetics, local anesthetics with steroids, phenol, and radiofrequency. Demographic, clinical, and procedure-related variables were collected from January 1, 2015, to December 30, 2018, at the National Cancer Institute. Data distribution was determined using the Kolmogorov–Smirnov test. A paired sample t-test (with a cut-off of P < 0.05 for statistical significance) was used for comparing outcome. Results: We observed a significant reduction in numerical rating scale (NRS) and douleur neuropathique 4 (DN4) scores from 7.6 ± 1.4 and 4.4 ± 1.4 to 3.2 ± 2.0 and 2.2 ± 1.4 points, respectively (P < 0.001). After the procedure, 70.8% of the patients were satisfied; 16.7% were very satisfied, and 12.5% were unsatisfied. No intra- or postoperative complications were observed. The most common neoplasms were head and neck tumors (83.3%).Conclusions: Our data suggest that CT guidance is an effective and safe option for managing cancer-related facial pain in patients with complex anatomy, resulting in a significant reduction in pain, high satisfaction rates, and no mechanical complications. Future research should aim to refine the role of CT guidance in multimodal pain management in this population.

The use of recycled materials, such as the fne recycled aggregate made from concrete waste and carbon fber (CF) product of industrial waste, for the manufacture of conductive recycled mortars (CRM), transforms the mortar base cement normally made with cement:sand in a sustainable multifunctional material, conferring satisfactory mechanical and electrical properties for non-structural uses. This action provides ecological benefts, reducing the use of natural fne aggregates from rivers and the amount of concrete waste deposited in landflls resulting from construction waste. In this investigation the efect of the addition of CF on electrical properties in hardened, wet and dry state, electric percolation in dry state and fuidity of the wet mixture of a cement based CRM was evaluated: fne recycled aggregate: graphite powder, CRM specimens with dimensions of 4×4×16 cm. were manufactured for 3, 7 and 28 days of age and sand/cement ratios=1.00, graphite/cement=1.00, water/cement=0.60 and CF=0.1, 0.3, 0.5, 1.0, 1.5, 2.0, 2.5 and 3.0% compared to the weight of cement. The results demonstrated the efect of the addition of CF in CRM, reducing fuidity of the mixtures due to the opposition generated by its physical interaction of CF with recycled sand or recycled fne aggregate and graphite powder (GP), in its case, placing the electric percolation percolation at 0.30% and 0.45% of CF for CRM with and without GP, respectively. Increases in electrical conductivity (EC) without the presence of GP are defned by the contact between the CF and the conductive paths formed. In contrast, with the presence of GP, the EC is defned by the contact between the CF and the GP simultaneously, forming conductive routes with greater performance in its EC.
