        Heme oxygenase-1 induced by desoxo-narchinol-A attenuated the severity of acute pancreatitis via blockade of neutrophil infiltration

        <P><B>Abstract</B></P> <P>Heme oxygenase-1 (HO-1) has an anti-inflammatory action in acute pancreatitis (AP). However, its mechanism of action and natural compounds/drugs to induce HO-1 in pancreas are not well understood. In this study, we investigated the regulatory mechanisms of HO-1 during AP using desoxo-narchinol-A (DN), the natural compound inducing HO-1 in the pancreas. Female C57/BL6 Mice were intraperitoneally injected with supramaximal concentrations of cerulein (50 μg/kg) hourly for 6 h to induce AP. DMSO or DN was administered intraperitoneally, then mice were sacrificed 6 h after the final cerulein injection. Administration of DN increased pancreatic HO-1 expression through activation of activating protein-1, mediated by mitogen-activated protein kinases. Furthermore, DN treatment reduced the pancreatic weight-to-body weight ratio as well as production of digestive enzymes and pro-inflammatory cytokines. Inhibition of HO-1 by tin protoporphyrin IX abolished the protective effects of DN on pancreatic damage. Additionally, DN treatment inhibited neutrophil infiltration into the pancreas via regulation of chemokine (C-X-C motif) ligand 2 (CXCL2) by HO-1. Our results suggest that DN is an effective inducer of HO-1 in the pancreas, and that HO-1 regulates neutrophil infiltration in AP via CXCL2 inhibition.</P> <P><B>Highlights</B></P> <P> <UL> <LI> Desoxo-narchinol-A (DN) is a natural compound of HO-1 inducer in pancreas. </LI> <LI> Mechanism of DN-induced HO-1 is mediated by MAPK/Activator Protein-1/HO-1 signaling. </LI> <LI> DN-induced HO-1 blocks neutrophil infiltration into pancreas via inhibition of CXCL2. </LI> <LI> DN inhibits cerulein-induced acute pancreatitis (AP) and AP-associated lung injury. </LI> </UL> </P> <P><B>Graphical abstract</B></P> <P>[DISPLAY OMISSION]</P>

        玉垂 趙冕鎬의 <西事雜絶> 前後篇에 대하여 : 丙寅·辛未洋擾의 詩的 形象化

        Cho, Myun-Ho(趙冕鎬, 1804-1887), now almost forgotten, was one of the most famous poets of nineteenth century. He wrote over-five thousand Chinese poems, and work is now gather under the title of Collection of Oksu(玉垂集). This study Is the first work on Cho, Myun-Ho. It begins with the introduction of life of Cho, Myun-Ho and draws the outline of his world of poetry. Then on the foundation of the preparatory work it focuses and examines two masterpieces, Seosa-Chapjol(西事雜絶) and its sequel Hu-Seosa-Chapjol(後西事雜絶). Seosa-Chapjol deals with the "Foreign Disturbance of 1866(丙寅洋援)", the war between Korea and French ignited by Korea's suppression and execution of the French missionaries. This work has a characteristic of the 'linked-up form' composed of forty-seven parts, that is, each part consisted of four-line stanza and each stanza of seven characters. The poet shows very vivid depiction of the battle, as seen and heard by his own eye and ears. In this work, on the one hand, he expresses his strong hostility to the Western invaders and the Catholic, and on the other, severely criticizes the inert response of the government. Hu-Seosa-Chapjoi focuses on the "Foreign Disturbance of 1871(辛未洋握)", the war between Korea and America caused by the destruction of the General Sherman-an American merchant ship. This work has also all the same formal and structural characteristic of Seosa-Chapjol. In this work, the poet depicts the battle from various aspects and congratulates his countrymen for finally driving back the invaders. Seosa-Chapjol and Hu-Seosa-Chapjol are very rare works of art, dealing with the two clashes with the Western powers under the Taewongun government. Moreover, these works succeed in giving a live description of 'the historic accidents in a full scale in 'linked-up form.' Thus two poems could be described as one of the most outstanding 'historical poetry(詩史)' of nineteenth century Korea. And it could be said that through these poems Cho, Myun-Ho proved himself to be a poet of great abilities.

        『燕巖集』 번역에 대하여

        연암 박지원의 문집으로 가장 널리 보급된 것은 1932년 박영철이 편찬한 활자본 『연암집』이다. 여기에는 『열하일기』와 『과농소초』를 제외하고, 연암의 한시 42수와 산문 237편이 수록되어 있다. 이러한 연암의 시문들에 대해 지금까지 이루어진 번역 성과들을 살펴보면, 전체 작품의 극히 일부만 대상으로 했을 뿐더러 텍스트 자체에 대한 서지적 검토를 소홀히 하고 작품의 이해와 감상에 필요한 주해를 충실히 베풀지 않은 한계를 지니고 있었다. 이와 같은 종래의 한계를 극복하려면 연암의 시문 전부를 완역할 뿐만 아니라, 역자 자신을 포함한 학계의 연암 연구 성과를 번역에 충분히 반영한 ‘전문적 학술번역’을 추구해야 할 것이다. 필자는 우전 신호열 선생이 생전에 구술하신 『연암집』 번역 원고를 가다듬고 여기에 원문 교감과 주해 작업을 하여, 연암의 전 시문에 대한 번역을 최근 완성하였다. 이러한 번역 작업을 하면서 필자는 전문적 학술번역을 성취하기 위해, 우선 『연암집』의 이본들을 널리 수집하고 검토하여 신뢰할 수 있는 교감본을 마련하고자 했다. 그리고 이와 아울러, 어귀 풀이에 그치지 않고, 창작 시기나 창작 배경, 난해하거나 심오한 의미를 지닌 대목들에 대한 해명 등 작품 감상에 긴요한 내용까지 충실히 주해하고자 했다. 본 논문에서는 『연암집』 원문 교감을 위해 참고한 많은 문헌들을 소개하고, 주해에서 특별히 힘쓴 점과 그에 해당하는 인상적인 사례들을 소개하였다. As a collection of Yeon-am, Park, Ji-won(1735~1805), 『Yeon-am-jip』, a printed book which was compiled by Park, Young-cheol in 1932, is most wide-spread. This book contains Yeon-am's 42 poems and 237 proses except 『Yeol-ha-il-gi』 and 『Gwa-nong-so-cho』. When I examine another translations of Yeon-am's literary works, including 『A selection of Park, Ji-won's works』(1960) by Hong, Gi-moon, I think they have some problems. They translated only a part of Yeon-am's works, not the whole. Besides they neglected bibliographical examination of the text and have no enough comments to understand and appreciate Yeon-am's works. In order to solve these problems, we have to make a complete translation of Yeon-am's works, and pursue a 'professional academic translation' showing the fruit of academic study on Yeon-am. I have finished a complete translation of Yeon-am's poems and proses recently. At first 『Yeon-am-jip』 was translated by Shin, Ho-yeol(1914~1993). I arranged his manuscript, revised the text and gave notes. While I translated this text, to accomplish a professional academic translation, I collected and examined many variants of 『Yeon-am-jip』, and tried to provide a nearly complete text. In addition I tried to give full comments upon the date of creation, the background of creation, and a difficult part of works, as well as an explanation of words and phrases. In this paper, I introduced various reference data for a revised edition of 『Yeon-am-jip』, a special effort in notes, and impressive cases in point.

        The purpose of this study was to identify the differences of degrees of participants' satisfaction among each of socio-demographic variables and each types of participation variables in water ski. Through these, following results were constructed. First, male participants, age of 20, self administrator, having college degree, below 200 million won of earnings, and having a car got high frequencies. Second, in water ski, over 20 participation per year, careers of 1-3 years, average level, participant who did not have membership, who for enjoying their life, and who participate with their friend got high frequencies. Third, there were some differences among each of socio-demographic variables in water ski, which were psychological satisfaction, physical-mental satisfaction in sex and earning facility satisfaction in sex, and social satisfaction in sex and degrees. Fourth, there also were differences among each variables of types of participation, which were psychological satisfaction in sex, level, purpose of participation, and participants who participate with their friends, physical-mental satisfaction in frequency, duration, level, having membership, purpose, facility satisfaction in membership, social satisfaction in duration, level, membership.

In the cognitive degree on the dental caries, 'the dental caries occure as not to brush teeth' appeared to 52.1% and the ingestion of sweet food which is a reason of causing a dental caries appeared unexpectedly to 31.6%. So, it was considered to be a result of realized an importance of brushing.

        Jung의 심리경향에 따른 청소년의 대인관계 성향분석

        본 연구는 청소년의 심리경향에 따라 대인관계 성향이 어떻게 달라지는지를 분석하여 청소년이 자신과 타인에 대한 이해를 통해 좀 더 원활한 대인관계를 맺는데 도움을 줄 수 있는 기초자료를 제공하는데 있다. 연구 대상은 울산시내 ㅈ여자고등학교 여학생 194명과 부산시내 ㄷ고등학교 남학생 211명으로 MBTI검사와 대인관계 성향검사를 실시하였다. 그 결과, 심리경향의 네가지 선호지표(E-I, S-N, T-F, J-P)에 따른 대인관계 성향이 각각 유의미한 차이가 있는 것으로 나타났으며, 기질과 기능에 따른 대인관계 성향에서는 동정적-수용적 성향에서, 주기능에 따른 대인관계 성향에서는 지배적-우월적, 동정적-수용적, 사교적-우호적, 과시적-자기도취적 성향에서 유의미한 차이가 나타났다. 또 성별에 따른 대인관계 성향에서는 지배적-우월적, 독립적-책임감적, 경쟁적-공격적, 반항적-불신적 성향에서 차이가 있는 것으로 밝혀졌다. 이러한 연구결과는 청소년의 대인관계 성향은 심리경향에 따라 달라진다고 볼 수 있다는 것이다.

        This bench-scale research investigated the aeration cycle(on/off) as the controlling factors for nitrogen and phosphorus removal in a 2-stage. intermittent aeration process. At this experiment, the aeration cycle time(air-on/air-off) was 30min/30min. 60min/60min, 90min/90min. Organic matter removal was obserred more than 90% regardless of the aeration cycle and phosphorus removal was relatively high when the aeration cycle time was 60min/60min On the other hand. For all of the aeration cycle, TN removal was appeared less than 53% This result was probably due to the limitation of the external substrate for heterotrophic nitrification and aerobic denitrification

        섬유상 활성탄을 이용한 수용액 중의 반응성 염료의 흡착 및 THM 생성능의 변화

        This study was carried out to treat the aqueous solutions containing reactive dyes(RB19, RR120 and RY179) by adsorption process using activated carbon fiber(ACF). And the changes of Trihalomethane Formation Potential(THMFP) in the model experimental system was investigated. ACF(A-15) has much larger specific surface area(1,584㎡/g-ACF) in comparison with granular activated carbon adsorbent(F400, 1,125㎡/g-GAC), which is commonly used, and most of pores were found to be micropores with pore radius of 2㎚ and below. It was found that RY179 has highest THMFP, and RB19 was most easily adsorbed among the dyes in this study. Increase and decrease of THMFP concentrations were observed before and after adsorption of reactive dyes on ACF(A-15). THMFPs per unit TOC were significantly decreased after adsorption of reactive dyes. And 70% of THMFP was decreased in adsorbed dye(RY179) solution. In the case of PCP(p-chlorophenol) and sucrose, which are single component adsorbate, adsorption capacities of ACF(A-15) were in good agreement with the batch adsorption measurement, and saturation time predicted of ACF columns for these components was also well agreed with practically measured time. But in the case of reactive dyes, which have relatively high molecular weight and aggregated with multi-components, adsorption capacities and saturation time predicted were not agreed with practically measured values.

        펄프 표백시 산소와 이산화염소의 영향 : 수산기 라디칼의 생성과 금속이온의 영향 The Effect of Hydroxyl Radical and Metal Ion

        본 논문에서는 케미루민센스와 HPLC를 사용하여 산소 표백시 수산기 라디칼의 생성과 리그닌 및 탄수화물의 분해와의 상호관련성을 밝히기 위하여 간단한 리그닌 모델화합물인 아포사이놀과 탄수화물 모델화합물인 α-D-glucopyranose와 methyl-β-D-glucopyronoside를 사용하여 연구하였다. 또한 수산기 라디칼의 생성과 금속이온과의 연관성을 검토하고 탈리그닌을 촉진함과 동시에 탄수화물의 분해를 억제하는 최적의 금속이온 농도를 조사하였다. 그 결과 금속이온의 존재가 수산기 라디칼의 형성과 탈리그닌화에 효과적인 영향을 주며, Cu^2+ > Mn^2+ > Mg^2+ > Fe^2+ 순서로 수산기 라디칼이 생성됨을 알 수 있었다. 이러한 금속이온들은 탄수화물도 분해시키는 문제가 있음을 증명하였다. 그러나 100㎛ Mg^2+를 첨가하면 수산기 라디칼의 생성이 억제됨을 알 수 있었다. 또한 Cu^2+은 탄수화물의 안정성에 나쁜 영향을 미쳤으나, 3㎛ Mn^2+을 첨가하면 놀랍게도 methyl-β-D-glucopyranoside에 대해 약간의 보호효과를 나타냄을 알 수 있었다. 이산화염소 라디칼 표백 용액 중에서는 이와 반대로 금속과 관계없이 상당한 양의 수산기 라디칼을 생성하지 않으나 이산화염소 자체의 라디칼이 리그닌만을 선택적으로 분해하였다. Hydroxyl radicals were detected and their qualitative yields were estimated by using chemiluminescence method and γ-irradiation technique in oxygen or chlorine dioxide radicals bleaching conditions. The correlation of hydroxyl radical formation and lignin model(Apocynol) or carbohydrate model(α-D-glucopyranose and methyl-β-D-g1ucopyranoside) degradation was studied in the presence of metal ion or without metal ion. The results showed that the presence of metal ions efficiently affected the formation of hydroxyl radicals in oxygen bleaching process, in the order of Cu^2+ > Mn^2+ > Mg^2+ > Fe^2+, and these metal gave also rise to the degradation of carbohydrate. But it was found that the addition of 100㎛ Mg^2+ gave an efficient protection against carbohydrate degradation and suppressed the hydroxyl radical formation under oxygen bleaching conditions. And the presence of Cu^2+ had a detrimental effect on the stability of carbohydrates, whereas the addition of 3㎛ Mn^2+ surprisingly had a small protective effect on methyl--β-D-g1ucopyranoside. In the CIO_2 radical bleaching conditions the hydroxyl radical expected to generate from water or substrates was not detected in the presence of metals.
