We discuss the problems of scattering in this framework, and show that the applied method is very useful in the investigation of the effect of the resonance in the observed scattering cross sections. In this study, not only the scattering cross sections but also the decomposition of the scattering cross sections was computed for the α-α system. To obtain the decomposition of scattering cross sections into resonance and residual continuum terms, the complex scaled orthogonality condition model and the extended completeness relation are used. Applying the present method to the α-α and α-n systems, we obtained good reproduction of the observed phase shifts and cross sections. The decomposition into resonance and continuum terms makes clear that resonance contributions are dominant but continuum terms and their interference are not negligible. To understand the behavior of observed phase shifts and the shape of the cross sections, both resonance and continuum terms are calculated.

Inhibitory Role of TRIP-Br1/XIAP in Necroptosis under Nutrient/Serum Starvation

Currently, many available anti-cancer therapies are targeting apoptosis. However, many cancer cells have acquired resistance to apoptosis. To overcome this problem, simultaneous induction of other types of programmed cell death in addition to apoptosis of cancer cells might be an attractive strategy. For this purpose, we initially investigated the inhibitory role of TRIP-Br1/XIAP in necroptosis, a regulated form of necrosis, under nutrient/serum starvation. Our data showed that necroptosis was significantly induced in all tested 9 different types of cancer cell lines in response to prolonged serum starvation. Among them, necroptosis was induced at a relatively lower level in MCF-7 breast cancer line that was highly resistant to apoptosis than that in other cancer cell lines. Interestingly, TRIP-Br1 oncogenic protein level was found to be very high in this cell line. Up-regulated TRIP-Br1 suppressed necroptosis by repressing reactive oxygen species generation. Such suppression of necroptosis was greatly enhanced by XIAP, a potent inhibitor of apoptosis. Our data also showed that TRIP-Br1 increased XIAP phosphorylation at serine87, an active form of XIAP. Our mitochondrial fractionation data revealed that TRIP-Br1 protein level was greatly increased in the mitochondria upon serum starvation. It suppressed the export of CypD, a vital regulator in mitochondria-mediated necroptosis, from mitochondria to cytosol. TRIP-Br1 also suppressed shikonin-mediated necroptosis, but not TNF-α-mediated necroptosis, implying possible presence of another signaling pathway in necroptosis. Taken together, our results suggest that TRIP-Br1/XIAP can function as onco-proteins by suppressing necroptosis of cancer cells under nutrient/serum starvation.

<P>Ascorbate peroxidase (APX) plays an essential role in the antioxidant defense mechanism in the plant, serving in the ascorbate-glutathione cycle for the cellular H2O2 metabolism process. As the perennial plant, Panax ginseng Meyer encounters a lot of unfavorable growth conditions, and among them soil salinity significantly decreases the yield. Two APX genes from Panax ginseng were isolated and designated as PgAPX1 and PgAPX2, which are most similar with previously characterized cytosolic APX of Daucus carota and Spuriopimpinella brachycarpa, as revealed by sequence analysis of their deduced amino acid sequences. PgAPXs transcripts are most abundant in leaf tissue, whereas PgAPX1 expression level was higher compared to PgAPX2. Consistent with higher PgAPX1 expression during salt stress in ginseng, PgAPX1-overexpressing Arabidopsis lines (PgAPX1 (ox)) increased the germination rate and root length compared with wild-type (WT) under 200 mM NaCl stress treatment. Furthermore, higher chlorophyll content, relative water content, total APX activity, proline content, and lower H2O2 accumulation were shown in PgAPX1 (ox) plants compared to WT under 200 mM NaCl stress condition. Transcription analysis showed that PgAPX1 (ox) Arabidopsis lines were more salt-tolerant by upregulating the ion homeostasis mechanism.</P>

This study is to prepare basic data to improve the clinical practice satisfaction of nursing students in Mongolia and Korea by comparatively studying subjective happiness, clinical practices stress and clinical practice satisfaction between Korean nursing students and Mongolian nursing students. A survey was conducted with 187 nursing students from one college in Gyeongnam and 100 nursing students from the National Medical University of Mongolia and data analysis were using the SPSS 21.0 program. The result was Korean nursing students had lower subjective happiness and clinical practice satisfaction than Mongolian nursing students, but they were not statistically significant and clinical practice stress was statistically significantly higher in Mongolian nursing students. In addition, it was found that the lower the clinical practice stress and the higher the subjective happiness, the higher the satisfaction with clinical practice among Korean nursing students and in Mongolian nursing students, the lower the clinical practice stress, the higher the clinical practice satisfaction. Therefore, it is necessary to conduct a comparative study on clinical practice education in nursing education institutions in Korea and Mongolia to develop a joint program to improve clinical practice satisfaction and to verify the effectiveness.
